Cannot receive new chats

I just started using Thunderbird, and I'm really liking it. However, it seems to have a problem with the IM feature. I'm signed in with Facebook and Google Talk. All of my contacts appear correctly, and I can start a conversation with all of them.
On Facebook, I can send messages, but Thunderbird does not receive new chats; I have to go to Facebook to see what the other person sent.
On Google Talk, I can send messages, but it says "Error sending message" even though when I go to Google+, the chat sent just fine. I also cannot receive chats using this account.
I'd like to be able to use the chat function in Thunderbird, but if I can't receive chats from other people, it's useless. Am I doing something wrong maybe? Is there a way to fix this?

I solved the problem. I looked in Norton's firewall settings as you suggested, and changed it from "Auto" to "Allow". Now Thunderbird works perfectly with Facebook chats! Thank you so much Matt! This will definitely get me a better experience!
Google Talk is still not working, but that might be more of a problem with working with Google APIs. I don't use it that much, so it's not a big deal.

Cannot receive new messages.

All settings are correct. Can send messages just fine. When I "get messages" I receive no errors, just no messages. However, my messages are coming through just fine on other devices.
Only 3.0KB disk space used. Need help. Thanks.

Hello- Well, the phone is new so I have an awful lot to learn about it. I know my phone works or goes through Google (Gmail)???? which I have always had a Gmail email. I wanted to sync my PC to my new phone. I downloaded Firefox Sync to my PC. It asked for my email and to create a password, which I did. And that was all I did. I glanced at my phone minutes later and realized that new emails weren't appearing anymore after downloading Sync to my PC. Yet, on my PC, new emails were appearing in my Gmail account. Also, right away I noticed a problem with my network on my phone.
I don't know if I should have downloaded FireFox to my cell phone first before syncing.
When I downloaded Sync to my PC and it asked me for my email address and to create a password, I created a NEW password (which then changed my Gmail password), which my cell phone does not know this new password.
Anyway, today I 'Deactivated' my Sync, I think. Lol. But still have all the same phone issues. I'm guessing now that the problem may be because I changed passwords when I created the Sync?

I updated my apple id and all my messages were deleted, and I cannot receive messages sent to my new apple id

I just updated my apple id to match my primary email and when I logged into messages on my iPad with the new id, all my messages were deleted and I cannot receive new massages sent to my new id. My iPhone which is still logged into my old apple id is receiving messages from both ids.

I cannot receive email because Inbox is full? which is not full..

ISP Telfort Webmail works but I cannot receive email through Thunderbird ! Yesterday I received 7 emails 1/2 hour later I could not receive email. The message I receive as follows:
"Postbox is full and cannot receive any more email, please remove old email to make room for new email ".
Can someone please help to resolve this?

I have checked and removed nearly all email from my webmail. I have emptied the trashcan and I have 4gb of space allocated and have about 1.5 gb in use.
The message is placed everytime I try to receive new email: The message is:

In other words the Inbox is full and I cannot receive new email. Remove old or unwanted messages to make room for more messages.

I cannot receive new emails since I have got a newer iPhone 4 I can read old emails and send emails but cannot update dent emails either. The phone seems to be trying to update the emails but then stops

Are you accessing a Verizon email account with the Mail.app and if so, you can't send with Verizon's email account and SMTP server either?
Changed my outgoing server settings to 456 or
other numbers different than 25.
Not sure where you got 456 or these other numbers from but 25 is the standard server port for SMTP servers or 587. I'm not sure about any other numbers.
If you can send mail with your Verizon account and SMTP server but not with the email account and SMTP server provided by your webhost, this indicates Verizon is blocking the use of SMTP servers outside of their network which most, if not all ISPs do now.
Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only that is outside of their network but some block its use regardless.
Have you checked with Verizon regarding the use of SMTP servers outside of their network?
And if you have and can send mail with your Verizon email account and SMTP server, you can select/use Verizon's SMTP server to send mail with your email account provided by your webhost.

I have been using Lion 10.7.2 and updated to 10.7.5 and now I cannot receive new E-mail, Can send ok

Check your SMTP settings in Mail. Make sure your email account you use is selected. Mail / Preferences / Accounts. Click the drop down for Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) and select Edit SMTP Server List. Make sure the server name is correct under the Account Information tab. Click the Advanced tab and make sure your Authentication, User Name and Password are correct.
I know for me after updating to 10.7.5, I had to reenter my account password for SMTP.

On some server somwhere my AppleID still tells people they should send me iMessages. What is the solution to this issue? Deleting my AppleID would work to solve this issue, but I cannot ever delete the ID? What can Apple do for this?

If you did not erase your apps and data before getting rid of your old phone, try using Find My Phone and erasing everything remotely. See if this works.

the fastest way is to call applecare and they can remove her number from iMessage/facetime.

I cannot receive emails in Thunderbird from my new email account

I have a new email address that I have set up in Thunderbird exactly the same as the others, but although I can send emails from it, I cannot receive them?

It is not a problem with my hosting account, as I can emails in their webmail, I just can't get them in Thunderbird?

Cannot receive mail with new ios7 update

Just updated my iPad to new ios7 now cannot receive mail but can send it. I have gmail. I shut power off. Reentered the codes and that did not solve my problem.

Just read another post and it suggested deleting the entire account, which resolved my issue.
It also suggested turning off wi-fi or powering off. Neither of those worked but they were steps to do in case anyone else has this issue.
