Cannot receive new messages.
All settings are correct. Can send messages just fine. When I "get messages" I receive no errors, just no messages. However, my messages are coming through just fine on other devices.
Only 3.0KB disk space used. Need help. Thanks.
What is the account type on 'other devices' - POP or IMAP?

Can't receive new messages using "Mail"
My MacBook Pro's "Mail" stopped receiving new messages!? It appears to be continuously trying to receive messages but nothing comes through. Messages sent to my ".me" account appears on my ipad and ipod but not in my "Mail" Software on my MacBook! All my settings appear to be correct (although i'm no expert). I've tried using "Connection Doctor" and the "Mobile Me" account has a message in the "Details" that says: "Logging into account..." but it never connects! Conversely, the "smtp.me.com..." accounts has a message saying: "Connection and login to server succeeded".
In addition, I should mention that I can send messages (i.e. they get sent) but the "blue bar" in the "MAIL ACTIVITY" window always stops halfway and never moves again. The message sent also never appears in the "SENT" folder even though i have specified that it should in "Preferences".
Finally... I cannot quit "Mail" without using "Force Quit".
What is wrong? How can I fix it?Thanks Ernie for attempting to help... the port is set on "993"; the "use SSL" is checked. The "Authentication" is set to "Password". However, I did not know I needed a "password"!? I never used one before when i checked mail!? Anyway, if I need a password to check my mail, how come "mail" does not ask me for one?
You may want to know that "IMAP Path Prefix" is empty and "Use IDLE command if the server supports it" is checked. I have no idea what theses things mean but that's the way it is. Should anything be changed?

Cannot receive text messages after switch from iphone
After more than 2 years on an Android, my family convinced me to try an iPhone. After one week, I decided to return my iPhone and go back to Android. Now I cannot receive text messages from anyone using an iPhone. It thinks I'm still using iMessage.
I have already talked with Verizon customer service and unregistered my number from both Messages and FaceTime via my computer. Please help! This is extremely frustrating!Appreciate the update plurrykid,
Knowing you are starting to receive them is good, but certainly we want you to receive all of them, not just random ones. I know it’s important to get them up and running as soon as possible. It will usually take Apple 24-48 hours to un-register you completely; if it has not been fully done, what you can try is resetting your Apple ID password here http://bit.ly/1kwc2va . Since you will be changing your password and the original device which still has iMessages on, will not be aware of the new password for them, it will revert to text messages. Let us know how it goes.

TS3276 Mail not receiving new messages
I just purchased my MacBook Air 13 in last week. Love it, but I am having a problem with Mail. I use Google mail for my work, and it sends fine. It also comes through fine some of the time, but after a time, it stops receiving new messages. I notice, as I continue to get them on my phone. Once I 'exit mail' and then reopen, they all suddenly come through.
Any idea what I can do to fix this?Same issue. Not found a fix other than restarting mail.

Yes I was able to send but not receive - I actually was able to solve it myself
Everything on the menu bar was greyed out - so nothing there helped me @ all
Connection Doctor didn't show anything wrong
activity box was completely blank
shutdown - restart didn't work
I used the help option - still nothing
All the while my phone was vibrating like crazy with new emails
It was really frustrating & it seemed apple themselves don't have any real solutions to offer
My instincts told me to delete the email completely - so I did
After a few min I added the email account like a new one and it eventually worked - all my new emails were there, I still don't know why it stopped in the 1st place

I just got a new iPhone 5S and I've been trying to adapt it to my needs.
I do remember that on my 4S, I only switched between silent (with vibrate) and do not disturb modes.
When I was using the phone on do not disturb, it did not vibrate but a banner appeared when I received a new SMS or Whatsapp.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce this on my new phone.
Now it seems that I have to choose, when in do not disturb mode, between a completely silent phone (no vibrate and no banners) or a vibrating phone + banners when I receive new messages...
Can you help me?

Unfortunately, when I do this DND also disables notification banners... So when I receive a message I don't even know I did...
I'm going to try to be clearer: when the phone is not in use, it works just as I want it to. When only in Silence mode, it vibrates when I get something new; when on DND mode, it is completely muted.
My problem is when I'm using the phone on DND mode (for example: on the bed next to my girlfriend who is asleep), I would like to have banners for SMS and Whatsapp, but no vibration, so as to know that I got a message but discretely.
If I put on Silence notifications > Always, it does not vibrate, which is good, but it doesn't show me that I got a message at all. If i put on Silence notifications > Only while iPhone is locked, it vibrates when I receive a new message -
I have an AT&T iPhone but only use wifi. Since I updated my phone to iOS 6.0 I cannot receive text messages from other iPhone users outside wifi range. What is the issue?
Check Settings>General>Cellular to be sure you have Cellular Data set to On.

I cannot receive text messages and cannot use FaceTime since ios7 upgrade
I upgraded to iOS 7 and since I cannot receive text messages or use face time. I have tried to reboot several times and when I try to sign in I keep getting a message to check my network settings. I can receive emails and the phone works.
After going to the Apple Store I found out this a known issue and al I can do is refresh the phone and reinstall my apps or wait till Apple releases another version.

I recently switched from an iPhone to an Android phone. I cannot receive text messages because Apple will not "release" my number from iMessage. I see others have had the same issue. How did you solve the problem, if you did?

Call AppleCare and ask them to deactivate iMessage. It might take awhile to become effective.

-One funny thing I want to add too: when I put the iPhone in the Apple dock and connect it with my PC, I open iTunes and select my phone. There you can see the build, software version,.. But after telephonenumber it says N/A: not applicable.. Something I only just noticed. I'm pretty sure my number was displayed back in Nov. when I first got my iPhone 4S.
And the very last thing: Most of the time I have a very good signal, 4 out of 5 bars. It is only rarely that I have only 1 or 0 bars. -
I just started using Thunderbird, and I'm really liking it. However, it seems to have a problem with the IM feature. I'm signed in with Facebook and Google Talk. All of my contacts appear correctly, and I can start a conversation with all of them.
On Facebook, I can send messages, but Thunderbird does not receive new chats; I have to go to Facebook to see what the other person sent.
On Google Talk, I can send messages, but it says "Error sending message" even though when I go to Google+, the chat sent just fine. I also cannot receive chats using this account.
I'd like to be able to use the chat function in Thunderbird, but if I can't receive chats from other people, it's useless. Am I doing something wrong maybe? Is there a way to fix this?I solved the problem. I looked in Norton's firewall settings as you suggested, and changed it from "Auto" to "Allow". Now Thunderbird works perfectly with Facebook chats! Thank you so much Matt! This will definitely get me a better experience!
Google Talk is still not working, but that might be more of a problem with working with Google APIs. I don't use it that much, so it's not a big deal. -
Cannot view new messages after setting up Gmail
I had problems setting up my IMAP so had to delete my Gmail account and reinstall. Anyway, I have about 12K emails, and can view some, but I have 200 new message that I CANNOT View.
Any suggestions??? I've tried nearly everything.
Should I disable POP is IMAP is enabled?
ThanksUpdate: message sent from Mozilla to confirm this new message does appear, so it seems that messages received today 9/26 that were sent before Thunderbird updated to 31.1.2, are not viewable. The header appears but not the message itself. Messages created before midnight are appearing, this is most strange. Maybe the messages from today will appear after midnight.

After 31.1.2 update cannot view new messages in pane or separate window
Old messages before today appear, but any message wuht todays date does not appe, the view pane and the message window are blank. How can I move back to previous version until this is fixed?
