Cannot receive Outlook 2010 mail

Hi
I'm using and iPhone 4. Since my ISP changed my Account settings (by remote due to a problem with my new Outlook 2010) I can no longer receive mails, yet I can send them Ok.
I've tried synching plus reboooting also manually configuring my new settings- all to no avail. Each time I check for mail, I get the following error message:
*'Cannot Get Mail'*
*The mail server "imap.ntlworld.com" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info into the Mail Settings'* - yet I know I have.
I'd be grateful if someone could shed light on this - thanks
Eiona

Hi Kurt
Many thanks. Tried as you suggested but still can't receive mail.
My next thought is directed at anyone, not only you. i.e. if I delete that account, when I next synch my iPone with laptop would I retrieve my Outlook settings that way?
Cheers!
Eiona

    Здравейте,
знае ли някой как да синхронизима изпратените писма от outlook 2010 със телефона си

You have to make sure both your iPhone and Outlook are configured to use IMAP.

    HELP.....Please??

    IT WORKS!
Though it doesn't tell you this in the password error message, the problem IS the new Apple ID password requirements.
FIRST go to https://iforgot.apple.com/ and CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD.  In my case, my old password didn't use at least one capital (upper case) letter, and that was preventing the whole thing from working.  When all the little password criteria lights are green, you're good.  Save as you exit your browser if it asks you to.
Then open Mail, preferences, accounts, and click on the plus sign to create a new account called iCloud Mail.
These are the settings I used:
    Account settings:
    Description: iCloud Mail
    email address:  [email protected]
    Full Name:  John Doe
    incoming Mail Server: imap.mail.me.com
    User Name:  John Doe
password: (enter new Apple ID password)
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.me.com
    Server settings:
    Server port: 587
check box Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) yes, check it
    Authentication:  Password
    User Name: [email protected]
Password: enter new Apple ID password
    Click on Advanced tab:
    Check "Enable this account"
Check "Include when automatically checking for mail
    ignore Compact mailboxes automatically
    Check Automatically synchronize changed mailboxes
    IMAP path prefix: leave blank
    Port: 993
    Check Use SSL
    Authentication: Password
Be sure to save the settings when asked after you close the accounts window.
O.K., this little part may be a complete coincidence, but in mail, nothing happened when I hit "get mail".  Then, when I clicked on the little "broken" icon on iCloud mail on the left, it sprang to life and imported all my mail from iCloud.  However, as I say, that may have been unnecessary and a complete coincidence of timing as I had hit "get mail" previously.
If that doesn't work, try shaking dried chicken bones tied with cat gut over your machine.
    Best of luck!

  • Cannot receive or send mail

cannot receive or send mail on mail icon (postage stamp)

    Hello Jared,
It sounds like you are not able to send or receive emails in the Mail app on your computer. I found this article for you to help troubleshoot what is happening here named:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • TS3276 cannot receive or send mail, server off line "ssl off" how do I turn ssl on?

Cannot receive or send mail.  Server off line  "ssl off " . how do I turn on ssl?

    Hello there, gillaf.
To turn adjust your SSL settings the following Knowledge Base article will be of assistance:
Mac OS X Mail: About Secure Email Communications (SSL)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA25586
    Setting up Mail for SSL
Important: These steps require Mac OS X 10.1.3 or later.
    1. Open the Mail application.
    2. Choose Preferences from the Mail application menu.
    3. Click Accounts.
    4. Select an account name, and click Edit.
    5. Click the Account Options tab.
    6. Click the Use SSL checkbox to enable this option.
Selecting the checkbox will auto-populate the default port numbers. If there is a non-default port number already present, it will not change. You can manually enter a number if your ISP gave you a different port number. Be sure you enter the correct port for your mail server here when selecting SSL, even if it auto-populates a default number.
Note: If SSL is accidentally set up when it should not be, or is configured using the incorrect port for your mail server, an alert box with a message similar to this may appear:
"Fetch Error: Couldn't connect to a POP host name mail.apple.com."
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Exchnage 2007 + SP3on Windows 2008 R2 - Cannot Receive Internal e-mail (sent via Outlook or OWA)

I have installed Exchange 2007 + SP3 (All Roles on 1 server) onto a Windows 2008 R2 Server Member Server (after all pre-reqs met)
On Windows 7 client (or Windows XP) I have Outlook 2007 (using cached mode - but also tried with this turned off), and as an AD user with a mailbox created on the Exchange 2007 + SP3 Server I can configure Outlook 2007 to connect to my Exchange 2007
+ SP3 Server and can access the Mailbox (and ran Test on Outlook config to find SCP etc. and this is OK). I can access the GAL and can compose and Send an e-mail. Copy of the e-mail goes into the Sent box (via a Web Browser i.e. OWA mail ends up in Drafts
folder), buy when I logon and access the mailbox of the user the e-mail was sent to, they have not received the e-mail.
    Any Ideas ?
Note - With Exchange 2007 + SP2 this unable to receive e-mails is not a problem either in Outlook or OWA

With no messages in the Message Tracker or Queue Viewer I decided to install an additional Exchange 2007 + SP3 Server (all Roles again) onto another Member Server but this time Windows 2008 + SP2 rather than Windows 2008 R2 + SP1
I moved across 2 mailboxes from the original Exchange database to the new Exchange server
I left all other mailboxes hosted on the original Exchange Server
From the same client units I then logged on as these 2 mover users and could now sens and receive e-mail and on the new Excahnge Server could see Messages using Message Tracker.
I could now also send and receive e-mails to and from the mailboxes on the old server to\from mailboxes on the new server.
I powered down the new Excahnge Server and then also found I could send\receive e-mails to\from mailboxes hosted on the original Exchange Server which I could not do previously
Thus I do not understand how the problem appears fixed (for the time being at least) simply by having installed another Exchange Server (only onto a Windows 2008 + SP2 unit rather than a Windows 2008 R2 + SP1 unit)
    I will test again tomorrow.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Do these missing emails share any same characteristic? Such as being sent/received before a specific date?
Have you tried starting Outlook with /cleanviews switch? Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type outlook /cleanviews and press Enter.

  • Outlook 2010 Mail Tips Could Not Be Retrieved / Out Of Office Doesn't work too.

    Hi,
We have a small set up with 5 pc's and 1 server. All of the workstations are exactly the same.. specs,OS,software etc...
One of the users is currently experiencing "Mail Tips Could Not Be Retrieved" issue.
It shows up right above the SEND button when replying or sending a new e-mail.
Also Out Of Office / Automatic Replies function does not want to work as well. It asks me to try again later cause the server is not responding.
The funny thing is that this is happening only to a single user.
    Here is what I've tried:
    - Tested E-Mail AutoConfiguration - Autodiscovery works fine and points to the right directory.
    - Deleted the profile and recreated it ... didn't work
    -  Added the same mailbox to another computer - IT WORKED
    - Checked all the SSL settings for each virtual folder in IIS and they are all set to IGNORE the certificate.
The other strange thing is that when I try to download the OAB from the affected PC a credential window pops up and asks for the username/password
of the particular mailbox.. Once I enter them the "Mail Tips could not be retrieved" message disappears and Out Of Office is accessible and ready to be used.
Maybe Outlook 2010 setting or registry value ?

This sounds like an authentication issue for the Autodiscover/EWS URLs and your last paragraph basically confirmed it.
Is this PC domain joined and is this user logging on with his domain credentials and not locally to the computer?
Is the user able to access:
    https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    or
    https://domain.com/autodicover/autodiscover.xml
An xml-page should be returned with ErrorCode 600 Invalid Request.
Is there a TMG or UAG server involved here?
Also check the proxy settings in Internet Options (if configured/required).

  • Cannot receive varification e-mail with Apple ID

    Hi,
I cannot receive the verification e-mail for my Apple ID. I tried it about a 100 times but i don't get it. I also tried it with to other e-mailadresses. Has anyone suggestions?

  • Cannot receive or send mail,my setting and pass word are messed upare messed up

cannot not send or receive mail, this is the first time ,iuse my imax, for this transaction.
    i tried resetting but ,nothing

To anyone else reading the above question,
The 'answer' to my 'problem' was solved by deleting my 'btinternet.com' e-mail account from my iPad.
You can 're-install' it (as I did) using the 'Yahoo' option, instead of the 'Other' option,
    Go to: Settings;
    Go to Mail, Contacts and Calenders;
    Select ADD another account.
Enter your previous Name, E-Mail Address, and Password, and Description (you can call it what you like), in the box provided.
You SHOULD then see the word 'Verifying......' after you have selected 'next', and then after a few seconds you shoud see four blue tick marks confirming the 'verification' of your details.
This is what happened the first at least eight times I re-installed my account in 'Other' after it had stopped working, and whenever I tried to SEND mail from ***********@btinternet.com, or REPLY to mail sent to me at the same address, I got the the error message:
    'Cannot Send Mail',
'The username or password for SMTP: ***********@mail.btinternet.com' is incorrect'
when the username or password were NOT incorrect.
The next four or five times I tried to re-install the account I did not see the word 'verifying....' OR any of the blue tick marks, but I still received the e-mails again that were deleted when the account was deleted - though I still could not SEND or REPLY.
    Hope this helps
    Bob

  • Importing Outlook 2010 Mail account settings from one copy of Office 2010, to another copy of Office 2919

I am trying to export my E-mail ACCOUNT settings from one copy of Outlook 2010 so that I can import them in another copy of Office 2010 on a different computer.  Again, BOTH computers have Office 2010 on them.  While I can move the PST file, my
E-mail account information never comes across.  How can I do that without having to enter each account separately.  Also is it normal for the E-mail accounts to show up as DATA FILES rathan than E-MAIL FILES?  I've never come this in the past.
    Thanks.

As JHarris1993 said, this is BOSS! Thank you.
I used this solution to recreate a profile I was using under one Windows 7 account in another account on the same machine. The profile was successfully recreated but I noticed that the email accounts in the profile were still pointing to the data files from
the other account, which is not surprising at all.
Unfortunately no easy way exists for re-pointing email accounts to alternate file locations. I have five different email accounts in this profile (2 IMAP, 2 Outlook Hotmail Connector and one Exchange), and looks like there are solutions and workaround for
each type of account which work with varying degrees of success.
Changing location of pst data file for
    IMAP email account
    Changing
location of ost data file for an Exchange email account
Changing location of ost data file for a Hotmail Connector email account
    Thanks Again,
    Jaspreet
