Cannot receive text from specific person....

I can receive texts from my husbands iPhone 4S, but he cannot receive texts from me using an iPhone 4S.... I have already done a "hard reboot" and it still doesn't work. Any suggestions to help me out?

Are the messages green (SMS) or blue (iMessage)? If SMS, probably a carrier problem. If iMessage, probably an iMessage configuration problem on his account, be sure you are addressing the message to the iMessage phone number or email address configured in the settings on his device.

I cannot receive texts from 1 person who is also a Verizon Customer, both of us have iPhone 4S phones. I receive his messages on my iPad, but not my iPhone. All other texting seems to be working with other contacts. I could receive his texts/iMessages 12 hours ago without a problem. Any suggestions? I have rebooted my phone. He can receive my texts.

Stratosphere cannot receive texts from one person

Suddenly this morning, my girlfriend stopped receiving texts from me. It shows sent on my end, but she does not get them. I can receive text from her just fine.
I have no synced contacts, I have deleted our entire thread and deleted her as a contact. Tried sending to number with and without +1.
She has an AT&T iPhone 4 if that matters.

Hi there
I’d be happy to help with this messaging error! This will be due to the device storing the number incorrectly. Please do the following to resolve the issue:
Delete texts from both old number and new
Delete any call logs including these numbers
Delete old number from contacts
Delete new number from contacts
Restart device
Send text to the new number directly (do not save as contact)
Once the text sends successfully, you can then save as a new contact

Now, my old phone is gone and my new phone cannot receive texts from people who have iphones and had me as a contact before. They try to send an iMessage and I have no way to receive an iMessgae now. On some server somwhere my AppleID still tells people they should send me iMessages. What is the solution to this issue? Deleting my AppleID would work to solve this issue, but I cannot ever delete the ID? What can Apple do for this?

If you did not erase your apps and data before getting rid of your old phone, try using Find My Phone and erasing everything remotely. See if this works.

Recently started not receiving texts from one person - AT&T user, also HTC One

I recently started not receiving texts from one person. He also has an HTC One (older model) but has AT&T as his provider. We were texting back and forth last Friday morning (11/8) and then he called me and ever since then I have not received a single text he has sent. He is receiving all of mine and we can receive phone calls back and forth, but his text messages are not coming through. We have both tried restarting our phones and I have also tried deleting him as a contact and recreating it however nothing works. I checked to make sure he was not blocked (which I knew wasn't the case since I could receive phone calls from him as well), and even tried turning the "block contact" on and back off. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. Right now we are using work arounds with google-talk and facebook messenger but it's very frustrated for me to not receive any of the texts that his phone is saying I am receiving.
It had started sporadically over the past few weeks where I would miss a text from him every once in awhile, but now I am receiving nothing. He is the only one that I am having this issue with as I have texted back and forth with multiple others the past few days with no issues.

Hi! I'm also having the same problem. I have an iphone 5 & one person (who also has an iphone 5 but has AT&T as a provider). We had been able to send & receive phone calls & texts until mid-November. Now, we can both give & receive phone calls from each other and she receives my texts, however, I DON"T receive hers. In fact, if I'm in a group text message with her, I don't receive any of the texts that include her, even though I can give/receive texts individually from the others in the group message. The other two in the group message CAN receive both her texts & mine. This is so strange - I was left out of a whole thread of text messages & none of us knew it. They thought they were including me (nothing bounced back) & I didn't know I wasn't receiving them. Since her texting works with both of the others, I'm concluding the problem must be with my phone. Do I have an incorrect setting? I'm not sure what could have happened. PLEASE help!

Could be something wrong on the other persons end...this one is hard to call if it's only happening with one number. Are the text long (longer than 140 or 160 characters)? Try asking them to sending a short one (just type "testing" and send it)...see if that goes through. I would lean more towards the issue being on their end if you're saying you can send them to him fine...you're just not receiving them.

If you have access you your old iPhone, just sign out of Messages. If you do not have access to it, then change your Apple ID password.

Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.

amyhs, thanks for those details. This is certainly quite odd that this has been going on so long and we definitely want to get to the bottom of this. Now, you stated that you have reached out to technical support and spoke with a tier two technical support representative. At this time, what actions or troubleshooting steps were taken? Are you aware if a ticket with our network technicians was ever created? As well, have you ever previously had an iPhone and are you aware if the users that are unable to message you are using iMessage?

This is a common problem.... I was having it too. The only solution I found is to go into device info, reset options and then choose erase apps and data. It solved the problem. All the contact info is backed up so you don't lose your data.

My friend and I both have iphone 4s (with iOS 6.1.3). One day i stopped receiving messages from her. I can still receive an iMessage from her (but since neither one of us has data that is dependent on internet availability) but regular text messages won't come through. She can receive regular messages from me. I can receive regular messages from everyone else (including other iphone users). I don't know what happened. I just switched to a Galaxy S 4 from my I phone. I cannot receive texts on the Galaxy from other I phones. I changed my apple ID. I unregistered the old I phone. I reset the I Phone to factory settings. Nothing. Any suggestions?

We both tried resettting network settings, restarting phones and deleted our contacts and re-entered them. Any ideas ?

Understand that iMessage is a service for sending messages between iOS devices, like iPhone to iPhone, or to iPad. This service does not use the carrier's texting plan, it uses data like an email. With iMessage activated, it automatically detects iOS devices. Without it activated, then it can cause issues with sending messages between iOS devices. The setting that Ocean20 provided you is for when there is a problem with iMessage and the message cannot get through, it will default to a regular SMS texting message. Since it went through that way, it makes me wonder if one or both of you have iMessage activation issues. Go into Settings>Messages and check to see what it says under iMessage.
