My texts (incoming) go to messages on my imac but not in my iphone?

iMessages, not text messages as in SMS/MMS.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages. Is iMessage turned on?

If your cell phone number is selected for this with Messages on your Mac, is your cell phone number selected for this with iMessage on your iPhone? The same if you have an email address selected for this with Messages on your Mac. Is the same email address available and selected for this with iMessage on your iPhone?

iMessage data usage is miniscule over 3G...about 1kb per message, & NO 3G data if connected to WiFi.

barbara, a friend of mine give me her old iphone 4 and she get the an android phone so when i typing a text message still shows me she have a iphone, she did turning off iMessage but after she contact her cellphone carrier and unlock the old iphone 4 her number get unlicked from IOS so, trying turning off iMessage is not the solution ebcause we tried and did not work , the best solution is go to ur cellphone carrier and do the request to unlock ur previews iphone then you will see the change it

Having trouble receiving texts from other iphone users since I updated my software

I am having trouble receiving texts from other iphone users since I updated my software to IOS7. Also I am unable to get i messenger to work, it keeps saying waiting for authorization. I am wondering if anyone else is having these issues and what I can do to fix it.

My daughter has an iphone 4S and just called from college, she can't receive texts from other iphone users anymore. Worked fine until yesterday. She can receive texts from me, but I have a droid. Any idea if this is a Verizon problem or something wrong with her phone?

Why doen't iphone receive texts from other iphones.

I have recently bought iphone 5C for the first time, I have had an ipad for a long time which I use for imessages through wifi.   I thought that when I am out and about away from wifi I would receive sms/text from other iphones like I had with my previous basic mobile, but this doesn't happen, although I can send texts to other iphones. Also when I return to a wifi area imessage that have been picked up by my ipad then don't appear on my iphone. When both the iphone and ipad are using wifi when an imesssage is received the message appears on both devices. Is this usual as I would like to receive texts from other iphones as it could be important.

Is iMessage turned on your phone?    It doesn't sound like it.
I would disable iMessage on BOTH your iPad and iPhone.   Enable it on iPhone first, then iPad 2nd.
Try again and let us know if it's working properly.

I just got my Iphone this Saturday, before I updated it to 7.0.3 I could send and receive texts from other iphone users, now that it's upgraded I can't receive texts from other iphone users unless connect to 3G/LTE or wifi. Please help.

I'm not receiving texts from other iphone users

I cannot receive texts from certain people in my contact list. My imessaging is turned off and when I go to turn it on says "waiting on activation" so I attempt to sign in with my apple ID and password and it says please check your network connection. Its been doing this for days. It doesnt matter where I am, how many bars I have or if I'm connected to Wifi.
I am PRAYING someone can help me here since even the store cant.
If I dont get this figured out, I'll have no other choice but to uprade to Samsung.
Also since updating to the dreaded ios7 I cannot use Snapchat, and myinstagram and facebook do not integrate together.

If they are receiving that error message, it corrected and you are deregistered from iMessage

Under Settings>Messages>
Make sure Send as SMS is on . If it is on and the error still occurs go to Send and Recieve, and make sure your phone number is the ONLY thing listed.

I got my phone maybe 2 weeks ago and had no problem sending or receiving text messages. For the past 2 days, i have not been able to receive text messages from other iPhone users. My texts go through just fine but I never get a response back until they call and are like "well what do you think about blah blah?" But I have sent and rec'd text messages from people with other devices. What is going on?

Oh my! Let's ensure these text messages are flying both in and out of your device. I would suggest completing the newest iOS 7.0.3 update. Once this has been completed I would suggest retesting. Settings > Software update
You may also test with iMessage off. This will send messages to and from iPhone's as a regular text message. Settings > Messages > iMessage - Off

My text messaging is acting weird--I receive all of them except any from other iPhone users. Needless to say, this is very inconvenient. I don't know what happened, cause I've had the phone for a few months now, but hadn't had any issues until the last couple weeks. As far as I can remember, I haven't changed any settings or anything. Anyone have any ideas?

That was a asinine and catty response. I and many others have the same problem. turning off imessage is not an effective solution. I have turned off imessage, deactivated the phone with apple and wiped the phone clean. the problem persists.

BUT I do not receieve the Text messages from other iPhone users. BUT my mac does gets them.
What I am trying to say is that Person A sends me a text to my phone number from the Text Message app, but since they have iMessage on it goes to my MAC instead of my iPhone.. I dont get it.

Imessage doesn't use data. I would say SMS uses more data.
When you turn off imessage on your Mac what happens?

HT4623 Since my update on my 5s I cannot receive messages from other iPhones. They all have to be sent by text. Why?

If you can't send and receive iMessages
You will need these to send and receive iMessages:

A phone number or Apple ID registered with iMessage in Settings > Messages
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.
If you aren't receiving iMessages across all iOS devices
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on each iOS device and make sure that you signed in with your Apple ID. You must use the same Apple ID on each device.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and make sure that you selected each phone number and email address you want to use with iMessage.
If you linked a phone number to your Apple ID with iMessage and the phone number hasn't appeared, followthese steps.
Sign out of your Apple ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and Settings > FaceTime on all devices.
If you're linking a phone number to an Apple ID, sign in to iMessage on your iPhone first. Then sign in to the rest of your device one by one with iMessage and FaceTime.
If your iMessages didn't transmit as SMS when iMessage was unavailable for use
Go to Settings > Messages > Send as SMS and turn on Send as SMS.
Select your phone number when Sending iMessages in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start New Conversations From.
Make sure that you can send SMS with Settings > iMessage turned off.
