Cannot receive texts sent from email

I had signed up to receive texts concerning traffic issues. According to the 511nj.org website, I should be entering [email protected] I entered that but am not receiving any updates. If I enter an email address, I receive the updates. I also tried sending an email to [email protected] and it does not arrive. What do I need to do?

Are you entering your full 10 digit number, no dashes or spaces, no leading 1?
Try [email protected]
That will send it as MMS, allowing for longer messages, and they may be sending them out as MMS, rather than SMS.

Call AppleCare and ask them to deactivate iMessage. It might take awhile to become effective.

Cannot receive text messages from one number

Just updated to iOS 7.0.3 this past Friday and as soon as I did that I have been unable to receive texts from my wife who has the 4s. She has also updated to 7.0.3. She can receive my texts without a problem. I have tried resetting the network, and have verified that iMessage and SMS are both turned on in the Message area in Settings but still nothing. I even turned the phone off for about a half an hour too and still nothing. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Make sure you do not have any Call/Messaging blocks on your line by logging into your My Verizon and checking the call/messaging blocks. Make sure she can call you with a voice call. If you can not get a voice call from her then go into your phone contacts, select edit, scroll down to More Info, then make sure the Send straight to voicemail box does not have a green check.
Next have her contact her carrier and have then check her acct and network provisioning for any problems.
If none of the above fix the issue call Tech Support at 1-800-922-0204 and have them do a Trouble Ticket for the issue to see where/why the text messages are not getting to your device.

If they are trying to send you iMessages, & you don't have any Internet access, the message will fail, as iMessage requires a data connection.

I cannot receive text messages from a certain person who also has Verizon.

In the past three days, I have been unable to communicate with my friend who also has verizon service. They have Palm Pixi. I have already restarted my phone and deleted the contact to no avail. Let's ensure you're able to stay in constant contact with your friend, Vlink. I certainly want to take a close look over the issue. Have either of you recently moved into a new device? Are they the only contact your unable to reach and vice versa. What zip code are you currently in?

Ok, all of your posts with "solutions" to the problem are great but many are incorrect and pointlessly excessive. All you need to do is simply follow these steps and there will, usually, be no actual NEED to contact AppleCare tech support:
1. Turn off iMessages on your mobile device that you are getting rid of.
2. (For some situations) Step 1, normally, will deactivate your number from the messaging database that Apple keeps. But, you have to actually TURN OFF iMessages. Otherwise, if you no longer have the iPhone or other Apple mobile device THEN call AppleCare tech support and let them know that you simply need them to De-Register the phone number associated with your Facetime and iMessages accounts.
***There is no need to reference the article TS5185 as they will simply do what you ask them to do so long as your word it right and don't make them have to probe and fish for more details. I repeat...."De-Register your phone number associated with your Facetime and iMessages"
3. Have your friends and family members that are using iPhones delete any and ALL previous conversation threads that they have from texting/messaging you saved on their iPhones.
***This is important because Messages remember where they originated and will always attempt to go back there even if you are trying to get texts to show on a new Apple device, like an iPad.
4. If you are attempting to get Messages on two Apple mobile device then follow steps 1-3 and then verify that all of your mobile devices have the EXACT same Send & Recieve settings. Once that has been established you can then initiate a conversation on either mobile device and you will be able to see the conversation take place on both devices.

I cannot receive text messages from one friend in a group message. Any hints?

I am in a group message with all iphones and one nokia. I have recently not been able to receive messages from one of the iphone users in the message. When he tries to respond it sends it in a new message without me (everyone else gets them). Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

This has nothing to do with entires in Contacts. Tell your friend who's messages don't reach you:
Settings > Messages > Goup Messages > ON, Send as SMS > ON

Cannot receive text messages after switch from iphone

After more than 2 years on an Android, my family convinced me to try an iPhone. After one week, I decided to return my iPhone and go back to Android. Now I cannot receive text messages from anyone using an iPhone. It thinks I'm still using iMessage.
I have already talked with Verizon customer service and unregistered my number from both Messages and FaceTime via my computer. Please help! This is extremely frustrating!

Knowing you are starting to receive them is good, but certainly we want you to receive all of them, not just random ones. I know it’s important to get them up and running as soon as possible. It will usually take Apple 24-48 hours to un-register you completely; if it has not been fully done, what you can try is resetting your Apple ID password here http://bit.ly/1kwc2va . Since you will be changing your password and the original device which still has iMessages on, will not be aware of the new password for them, it will revert to text messages. Let us know how it goes.

HT1349 I need to turn off the "find my phone" feature on my iPhone 5. The company I worked for took back their iPhone and now I cannot receive texts on my new LG F6 phone. Can I do this w/o the serial number?

I replaced my iPhone 5 with an LG F6 phone and now I cannot receive text messages from my friends with iPhones. Can somebody please tell me where to go to turn off the "Find your phone" feature and what ever else I need to turn off to accomplish this objective? Thank you.

Find My iPhone has nothing to do with receiving or not receiving text messages.
What you should have done is turn off iMessage prior to handing over the device.

I have a 5s, and I'm brand new to Verizon. I cannot receive "text" messages from anyone on AT&T. iMessage works just fine. Has anyone had this problem and how can it be fixed?

When you say "brand new" to Verizon, do you mean you recently ported your number from another carrier? It can sometimes take a few days for the number and services to fully integrate and work properly.
You can try removing and reinserting the SIM to see if it reconnecting to the network speeds things along.
You can also call customer service (*611 from your phone, or 800-922-0204 from any phone) and have them check the SMS message provisioning for your line to ensure it is set up properly. Is everything else working (voicemail? MMS? Internet? Calls?)

Are the messages green (SMS) or blue (iMessage)? If SMS, probably a carrier problem. If iMessage, probably an iMessage configuration problem on his account, be sure you are addressing the message to the iMessage phone number or email address configured in the settings on his device.

On some server somwhere my AppleID still tells people they should send me iMessages. What is the solution to this issue? Deleting my AppleID would work to solve this issue, but I cannot ever delete the ID? What can Apple do for this?

If you did not erase your apps and data before getting rid of your old phone, try using Find My Phone and erasing everything remotely. See if this works.
