Cannot receive Viber codes while abroad in the UK

I have a Verizon 4s Iphone......I had Viber installed and working fine before I left the States for the UK. Once here Viber was working fine, unfortunately my phone acted up, so I updated to the lasted iOS on my phone....since then Viber will not work. I have un-installed, and re-installed Viber....added my number and made sure the right country was selected.....I have my Data Roaming on.....as it states....I do not get a SMS, and when I try the No Code option....it will not call my number. I also tried using a local number, that will receive a sms, or phone call....either way when I do get a code...it tells me the code is invalid. I have waited the 24hrs with Viber un-installed, and done all the above again...with the same results. Can someone please help me!....I need Viber to stay in contact with loved ones back home.

After no help what so ever from Apple support I sort of went around the problems was having this way. For a home phone service I use Vonage, which I also have an app for on my iPhone. I setup my home phone to forward calls to my cell...then when I registered viber again, I put my home number...now of course I wouldn't get the text that way, but the call came right through, and I got the code. Viber worked great from that point on, the only downside was the id everyone saw was from my home number....which wasn't a big deal. Once back in the states though I deleted viber and re-installed it with my cell number. Don't know what was causing it not to work, just chalked it up to network issues over there. Soooo hopefully you can get a work around like I did to at least get it going again for you. Good luck! Also maybe just try again in a few days...delete it from your phone, and after a couple days try again.

  • Cannot receive Viber calls on my Nokia 920 unless ...

    Hi.  My friends asked me to get viber so they could call me from overseas.  Unless I have the program open, I cannot receive any calls.  I imagine this is an issue with push notifications?  I did not have this problem on the messaging-only version that was first out.  Eventually missed calls pop up (with time stamps in order!), but that makes it super inconvenient to use this app.  Even if I have the app open, it will time out with my screensaver (which I can control), but I cannot just disable the screensaver and even if I did, chances are I'm using the phone and thus not merely leaving viber open hoping for a phone call.  I have ATT.

    The problem with this is on my Nokia 920 phone, there is no "keep WiFi on when screen times out" selection.  Similarly, in the "background tasks" section of Settings, Viber isn't even listed (I cannot even selected "allowed" like I can for AccuWeather or Kayak).  HELP!

    Turning off cellular data doesn't turn off the ability of the phone to make or receive phone calls. In order to do that, you'd need to put the phone in Airplane Mode.

    Hi everyone, I just got the new iOS5 update for my iPhone 3GS. I receive a message saying that "Your SMS mailbox is full. New messages cannot be recieved until you delete some messages."     Check that you have entered the number correctly. (Settings > iCloud > Account > Verification Number, on your mobile device or System Preferences > iCloud > Account Details > Verification Number. Also confirm that the number is able to receive text messages (i.e. it’s not a landline)

    Buying a bundle doesn't mean that your device will work aborad you need to make sure roaming is enabled on your account.
    If you have a EE extra plan you still need to make sure roaming is enable on your account your plan only gives you free/cheaper calls when abroad.
    If your wanting to enable roaming on your account there could be a deposit to pay if you haven't had the device for about 6 months.
    Unless you have paid the deposit then roaming is not enabled on your account.
    You need to activate roaming on your account by calling 150 from your device or from a landline 01707 315000 before you leave the UK.
    But you can still do this if you are abroad.
    If you have had the device/contract for 6 months or over you can login to your online account and turn on roaming yourself
    Manage this device>Usage controls>Roaming abroad - Allow and Call abroad and turn it on. If the option is not there you need to call
    It can take 24 hours to activate
    If you had this device/contract for under 6 months you need to call customer services on +44 7953 966250 from a landline.
    Once you have activated roaming you can then use this link to see what cost there is and what bundles you can have.

    Also sending a text to 150 with the words of RO country your going to i.e. RO Spain will get you a reply of what the costs will be from that country.

  • Cannot Receive Email or BBMs

    I've had this problem for over a week - I can send emails and messages through BBM with no problem, but I cannot receive any data - not even whether the message was delivered or not.
    I've tried battery pulls, re-registering (I do get the registration message), resending service books (im sure im getting those though), called STC Al-jawal (my phone provider) and they've deactivated and reactivated my service - STC are uselss and have been no help, and none of the above solutions are working.
    The only way I am getting anything is through wifi, which is vert unpractical. Ive read a few other people have had this problem, but I couldnt find anyone who said they managed to solve it yet.
    Would really appreciate any help. I have a Curve 8900.

    Well, I hope you find the answer there. It's strange that things work properly when logged in as another user, though. Whatever you do to try to solve the problem, be sure to start by verifying/repairing your disk (not just permissions), as described here:
