CANNOt RECOGNIZE DV CAMERA USING USB. IS IT POSSIBle?

I am trying to connect my Canon Elura 80 DV camera to my recently bought Mac to edit my film with IMOVIE Hd.. i am using a usb cable.. is there a way to use usb and not fire wire.. thanks!!!!

The USB cable (probably provided in the box, and you don't want to buy firewire right?) is there to move the pictures from the memory card to the computer. You have to go for the 4 to 6 pin Firewire cable, no other choice.

  • After BIOS Update cannot boot Satellite C640 using USB Stick

After upgrading my Toshiba Satellite C640-10E (PSC02E) bios to 2.00 WIN, I cannot boot the laptop using USB Stick, When I checked the BIOS using F2 I was stunned because the USB connected to laptop was labeled as FLOPPY drive. Is there any option to downgrade the BIOS?
    Thanks

From my experience the BIOS is able to boot from
    - USB FDD (floppy disk)
    - Primary HDD,
    - USB Memory stick
    - Network (LAN)
So I dont think that your USB memory is recognized as a USB FDD but the USB FDD appears as a separate boot device.
It would be interesting to know if another USB flash memory would act as your old USB flash stick.
PS: as Tonny suggested: you cannot downgrade because you dont have previous BIOS version only Toshiba service agents are able to downgrade the BIOS using traditional BIOS.

  • I don't know how transfer my photos from my Sony Camera using USB?

The EXACT answer will depend on which OS and iPhoto you are using, but they all work as follows.
Provided that your Mac recognizes your camera's memory card, you should be able to use iPhoto's
FILE > IMPORT TO LIBRARY menu command, even if connecting your camera does not automatically find ("pop up") iPhoto. If you want your Mac to ALWAYS launch one specific app (such as iPhoto) when you connect your camera, you select which app via with your Mac's "Image Capture" application as follows:
Launch your Mac's "Image Capture" application and search Image Capture > Help for "Transferring items from your camera" (without the quotation marks.)
If you have trouble with the search, you can find the topic on Apple's website here:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=ImageCapture/6.0/en/5304.html
When your camera is connected and operating, you can use Image Capture to select whether and which application to launch automatically when you connect your camera in the future. The Image Capture 8 way of setting is shown in the following image:
For help with the iPhoto part, launch your Mac's "iPhoto" application and search iPhoto > Help for "Importing photos from a digital camera" (without the quotation marks.)
If you have trouble with the search, you can find the topic on Apple's website here:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/7.0/en/6297.html
The exact steps may be slightly different if you are using some other version of iPhoto. If you cannot find what you need, post back which iPhoto and Mac OS X versions you are using and what specific issue is giving trouble, and we will try to offer tailored links.

  • Iphone 4 internet cannot connect to pc using USB cable

Who know whant happen of this.before i can connect to PC and right now update to IOS 7 and cannot connect to PC while using iphone internet.

    Hello there Alex,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your personal hotspot is not working when connected to your computer via USB.
I recommend this article to help troubleshoot what is happening named:
The instructions are different depending on the version of your OS:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Personal Hotspot
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756
    USB troubleshooting
If you are using USB to connect your computer to Personal Hotspot and you are unable to get an Internet connection, check your computer's network settings. You may need to adjust your computer's network settings to disconnect and reconnect the USB Ethernet interface.
Select your operating system for instructions:
    Mac OS X
    Windows XP
    Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • Surveillance camera using USB Webcam

A project that I wanted to do is writing a Labview
application that would communicate to the USB Webcam and publishing the
application on a secured web page and allowing the users to control Labview
applications at home, work and anywhere in the world without having Labview
software installed on PC. On the web, the users can control Labview front panel
to zoom, do annotations, etc. Like a surveillance camera
the USB Webcam will be detecting an object moving, save images from when motion
was detected, trigger an alarm to alert.
I was wondering if someone can help me with this.
I have Labview Vision and I can get continuous image from the USB Webcam.
I don't know where to find information on detecting an object moving.
Can someone please help me on that?
    Best regards,

  • Won't recognize didgital camera on USB

When I connect the USB cable from the camera to my computer, it first says "USB Initializing," then it says "USB Disconnected." Before I even see my camera or my pictures on my computer.
This is the first time I tried to connect it.
I have tried different USB ports, the one on the front and one on the back.
I did boot my Mac into OS 10.3 and try to plug it in. But it just said "Initializing Connection," forever.
The camera will connect to my Windows 2000 computer.
My camcorder will connect to my Mac.

It was actually the cord I was using. I tried another one that I had and my camera showed up. Thanks everyone who tried to help!

  • Cannot install windows 8 using usb stick on G400s FreeDOS version

I'm having some difficulties to get windows 8 installed on this laptop. is there any secrets or tricks on BIOS that I'm not aware of?? I have installed windows 8 on many laptops using same pendrive without having trouble previously.
I have tried legacy mode and UEFI mode/boot without any luck

    hi wayne07,
Thanks for using Lenovo Community Forums!
    Inside BIOS
        Under Boot Tab
              Change Boot mode to Legacy
               USB Boot should be enabled
        Under Security
Secure Boot Has to Be disabled
In case the options above are grayed out in your BIOS, Got to Exit Tab and Change OS Optimized Default to Other OS
    and check the options again.
Once All are Set Make sure to save all changed by hitting F10 and enter for Yes
After Hitting enter It will Restart and You have to keep on tapping F12
this should pull up the Boot Menu letting you select where to boot. You should have now your USB Stick as an Option.
    Let me know your findings
    Best Regards

  • G4 powerbook doesn't recognize epson 3000 using usb parallel printer adapte

i downloaded and installed driver per instructions from epson (epson10860). my epson 3000 does not appear on the list of printers in the mac print setup utility. (selected epson usb in window after selecting "more printers." i'm using a usb parallel printer adapter. anyone know why it's not recognizing my printer?

the parallel adapter is the most likely problem, and it probably will never work, as from what I've ever seen, OS X does not support parallel connections.
Your best bet is to buy a new printer.

  • Cannot install Server 2012 using USB bootable flash.

    Hello,
We plan to upgrade Server 2003 to Server 2012. I downloaded Windows Server 2012 R2 ISO file from the below link.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2012
Then make this ISO file on bootable USB flash and boot it on computer.
During Windows Setup installation after select partition,
Getting files ready on installation (xx%)
It displayed message that The installation was canceled.
"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570"
I have tried the following ways.
    - re-downloaded the ISO file again
    - Installed on VHD
    - Installed on different computer
    - Tried choosing Server Core Installation or Server with a GUI
Still got the same error. Plese help me how to solve?

I'm not clear about your problem statement.  Are you saying that after downloading re-downloading the ISO, the installation failed in all three different installations?
If so, it really does sound like bad media.  There have been other instances in this forum where the person downloading was apparently hitting a server on the internet that had a bad copy of the media.  They got around the problem by downloading
from a different location, for example, a different part of town that gets routed to a different download server.

  • OS X does not recognize DV camera in still photo mode.

Using iMovie, I can import DV movies from my Samsung SC-D453 mini-DV camcorder over a Firewire connection. But when I switch the camera to photo mode, OS X tells me there is nothing connected to the Firewire port, and I cannot import still photos from the Mini-DV camcorder. The camcorder has a USB 2 port, but I do not have a USB 2 port on the G4 so I cannot connect the camera over USB. USB is what I use with my Olympus digital camera to import still photos. Works fine. Any ideas on how I can get still photos from a mini-DV camcorder over a Firewire connection?

    Welcome to the Discussions.
USB 2.0 is often backward-compatible with USB 1.1.
They also use the same connector cables.
You could try using your Mac's USB 1.1 ports.
It might work, but will be slow.

  • Using USB DV Tape Camcorders with Macbook Air

I am trying to understand whether it's possible to use a USB DV Tape Camcorder with the air. I have a PV-GS500 Camcorder, it has both firewire and USB ports. With a MBP, you can easily transfer movies from the camera to the computer via firewire, using iMovie. Now with a PC, you can transfer movies to the computer via USB. The PC recognizes the camera, once it's plugged into USB, as a "DV device". But what about the MBA? They lack firewire ports, so the only connection is via USB. You'd think that since they lack firewire ports, Apple would allow them to recognize the camera via USB, in the same way a PC would. But I can't get this to work, and I don't see any comments about that on the internet.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Jean-Paul,
You can use wireless as well as a wired connection for Migration Assistant (you'd need the USB-to-Ethernet adapter if you went wired).
