Cannot reconfigure printer port

Hello, I have a bunch of HP printers on our network. We recently made some changes and everything got new IP addresses. I went to all our computers that had the drivers installed and reconfigured the port with the new IP addresses.
There is one printer that is not responding though.
It is a Business Inkjet 2300 DTN. I actually have two of these printers side by side.
On Printer A I went to configure the port and replaced the old IP address with a new one. Clicked okay and everything worked perfectly.
On Printer B I went to configure the port but instead of an IP address it had the host name. I tried checking the box to always print even if the IP changes but it says the printer is offline. I also tried changing it to the IP address of the printer but when I do and click okay, and then go back to configure it to verify, it has the host name again so it didn't actually save my change.
The LCD on the printer says Ready. I'm 100% certain the IP address is correct. I can connect to the web interface of that printer just fine with my browser.
When I print a configuration page the 2nd page shows the proper IP address and gateway on our network.
I have tried powering down the printer disconnecting and reconnecting it to the network but no go.

Having the printer's host name in the port monitor is often preferred since the monitor can usually resolve the correct IP address of the printer before printing.
Does the printer with the host name not work with a particular PC after the IP address changed?
One recommendation is to power down the PC, disconnect the network cable, then turn on the PC.  In this state, you may be able to change the port configuration.
Another option is to install a new port monitor the PC via the "Add Printer" method from the Printer folder (delete the existing printer queue first though).  Just remember to use local printer rather than network printer in the setup wizard.

  • I'm new to the Mac world. I installed my Epson printer on my IMAC and it worked fine. Then I installed Windows7 through Bootcamp and I think it reconfigured a port and now I get a communication error and it won't print. Any help on how do to fix this?

Sorry, I'm new to the Mac world. I recently got a new IMAC and installed my Epson CX5800F printer and it worked fine. Then a few weeks later I installed Windows7 through Bootcamp and I think it reconfigured a port or something and now I get a communication error and it won't print. Can anyone help me with this problem, and/or help me get the port back the way it was? Thanks, Barry

  • Installation - cannot create a printer port.

I am reinstalling Acrobat 7 from a CD after upgrading my computer fromW-XP to W7 64bit, and it says it cannot create a printer port - and so, cannot create a PDF from Office applications.  Read and edit work OK, and it works OK on an older machine with W7 32 bit.  Upgrading online to V7.1 did not fix it, nor did the repair option.  What now?

The AA7 print driver is not compatible. Neither is AcroTray. Do Acrobat and Distiller both open? If so, then you can download a PS driver (possibly form Adobe or select one of the HP Color PS printer) and install that driver. Open the driver properties and change the name to Adobe PDF and the port to File. You can then print to this printer. However, the file that is created is a PS file (PRN extension typically) and must be opened in Distiller to create a PDF. A little extra work. If you are not happy with that, then you should purchase Acrobat XI to go along with your new OS.

  • How Do I Redirect LPT1 Printer Port to 'LOCAL Printer' in Windows 7

I have previously redirected LPT1 Port to a 'Network Printer' as well as 'Print Server' with NO PROBLEMS.
However, I have NOT been able to redirect LPT1 Port to a 'LOCAL' PRINTER. I have already set up:
     - new HP Laser Printer (tested, no problem printing in Windows)
     - the printer is SHARED, shared name is "HPLaser" (tested by viewing Shared Printer Name and Computer Name in DOS)
     - bat file as --> Net
    use Lpt1 \\DkTop1\HPLaser /persistent:yes
(I checked to ensure the 'Computer
    Name' and the 'Shared
Printer Name' are correct. Tested by running bat command, no
    error message)
When printing in DOS and viewing "What's Printing" from Printer Icon,
     - the DOS print job appears immediately as "spooling",
     - then "printing" and "USB001" Port.
So, it appears to be printing from the DOS application, also
note NO ERRORS from DOS Program or Windows but it does NOT print.
The only difference between the 'Local Printer' setup and
the 'Print Server Printer' setup is,
     the 'PRINT SERVER'
goes to an "IP Address w/Standard TCP/IP Port"
    and the 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    goes to "USB001 Virtual Printer for . . .".
    IS THERE A PROBLEM in
    SETTING UP THE 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    with 'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port???
If so, how do I resolve? If not, please note what is the problem(s) and resolution(s). Thanks.

    Hi,
you install the new printer, which port you choose to use? What do you mean by saying "'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port"
    here?
As the printer is configured locally, there is no need to redirect the port to it.
    Install a printer

    Here for more information:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows-vista/add-or-remove-a-printer
If possible please take a try to delete the printers holding the Lpt1 port, then reconfigure the local printer following the instructions provided above.
    Hope this may help

  • Presario CQ56 win7x64 printer ports gone

I have a presario cq56 win7 x64 that will not print. The printer ports have disapeared from all loaded printers. I get no error mssages. I have run troubleshooters from microsoft and hp and cannot identify the problem. I have tried to reload the printers, no luck. Please help.

In the Devices and printers window, across the top, there is an option "Print Server Properties". This does list a bunch of printer ports. My printer is listed on a usb port. (I have attempted to connect wirelessly and usb). When I attempt to configure the usb port listed, "an error occured during port configuration. This operation is not supported." The TCP/IP port settings open, and with the exception of the port name/ip address, are all configured the same: Protocol - raw, Raw settings - port number 9100, LPR settings - none, SNMP status Enabled - community name - public, SNMP Device Index - 1
There are six TCP/IP ports listed at this point, I have only one brand new Canon printer (MG5300) to get working.
I found another port on the list; CNBJNP_888717B1A30A Canon BJ Network Port. I cannot view properties, or configure this port.
I have entertained a system restore, but cannot go back far enough to get past the problem. (Wife says end of July)
Thanks so much for your help, I'm lost on this one

  • How do I remove USB virtual printer port

Im having some problems printing (see different thread) so I have removed all reference to the printers and drivers (nothing in devices and printers; nothing in print management), Ive removed all USB devices (except the mouse) switched off and removed the
battery for 60 minutes. The restarted.
    Still 3 USB ports
    Ive tried
http://www.ehow.com/how_6688235_delete-usb-virtual-printer-port.html  but I cant see the virtual USB ports in device manager
http://www.ehow.com/how_6910965_delete-usb-printer-port.html  But I cant (unsurprisingly) find the ports in installed programs
http://www.ehow.com/how_5869559_remove-usb-printer-port.htmll  (delete form devices and printers) But when I highlight the port from printer properties and click delete I get "selected port cannot be deleted. The request is not supported
Makes me think these are not properly installed ports.
Ive searched the registry for USB001 and there are 4 USB00? entries all under unknown printer with headings like 6&30e6e7fe&0&USB003. So I tried to deleted all of them. It lest me delete the parameter sub key but I am not allowed to delete the other
    keys (error while deleting key)
So after a bit of a search I came up with psexec (see link for more details and do take backups and read the instructions)
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/56fed319-a532-46a4-a384-fd795998c4a3/regedit-permissions-access-denied-or-error-while-deleting-key-even-as-admin?forum=w7itproinstall
And that allowed me to get rid of the ports from the registry but they were still visible in Devices adn printers under ports (after slecting a device)
So how do I get rid of these wretched ports?
    TFAI

    Hi,
Yes, you could create a new port for other printer. Of course, you also assign it to a different print if you don't use this printer.
    The detailed steps are below:
    1. Click the START button, click navigate to "Control Panel", then navigate to and click on "Printers."
    2. Once the printers window is open, click on "Add a printer" in the dark blue menu bar.
    3. At the "Choose a printer port" section click on the "Create a new port" radio button then select "Standard TCP/IP Port" for the "Type of port."
    4. At the "Type a printer hostname or IP Address" section select "TCP/IP Device" for "Device type" and input the proper hostname depending on the printer that you are installing, the IPs for all of the different departmental printers can be gotten from the
main printer help page on this website.
    5. At the "Type a printer name" section type in what you would like to call the printer under the "Printer name" section, this is entirely up to you. Here you also want to make sure that the driver that it says it will install corresponds with the model
    of printer you are installing.
    6. After the installation you should get a section called "You've successfully added [printername]." Here you should click the "Print a test page" button to make sure everything is installed correctly.

  • No USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER PORT

    HP Pavillion ZD8000 notebook
    Windows XP service pack 3
    Lexmark Series x5650 printer
Since I had laptop had no trouble printing.  Suddenly, cannot print.  Said printer was offline.
So I uninstalled and reinstalled Lexmark printer.   (USB printer).
Ran "control printers" - the Lexmark  is not there even though it says installed successfully.
Plug and play can't fix it, and when usb is connected, says installed successfully.
Looking further into issue, tried adding manually, but there is no
USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER PORT FOR USB in the list of ports .
Per HP instructions on reparing usb ports (although not sure if this was the issue anyway, I unintalled all the usb hubs from device mgr , reinstalled usb.inf, and even usbprint.inf.
Problem still exists.  There is no virtual printer port.
Can anyone figure this one out?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the quick response.
All usb devices work fine. (other than the printer)
I just don't know why it's not being recognized, and the virtual
printer port is not appearing.   I have searched the net
for hours and cannot seem to find a fix though I
    have tried the recommendations.

  • Administrator cannot change printer properties on "Advanced" tab from "Devices and Printers" on Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hello, dear Colleagues.
User with administrators rights cannot change printer properties on "Advanced" tab from "Devices and Printers" on Windows Server 2012 R2.
If to launch "Devices and Printers" on server, all printer properties on "Advanced" tab are inactive (see screen below).
But I can change it manually with "Print Management". Features become active.
The main purpose - to uncheck "Enable advanced printing features"  with powershell

Can you help me with that? Look like somethings with rights.
    Thank you.

    Hello, Alan
    Morris.
    Thanks for your reply.
I've tried to runs PS Script both locally and remotely, previously running Powershell ISE as Administrator.
I've noticed interesting thing - if to
    check "Enable advanced printing features"
manually thru Print Management snap-in, script works fine. But, time to time after some manipulations on print server, this advanced feature returns to enabled state automatically by system, I think. In this case PS Script does not work. Next, if to disable
feature manually again (thru Print Management snap-in),
and enable manually again, PS Script will work. Very strange situation.
    Thanks.

    Hello to everyone.
I have a CR report based on a database view.
Everything is ok when i run the report in the CR designer but choosing the option to preview the report or run it from the SAP Business One (8.81 PL 08) i get an error:
"the group section cannot be printed because its condition field is nonexistent or invalid. Format the section to choose another condition field. Error in file "the Report name".rpt. Invalid group condition".
i must say that this happens in all my reports where i have group data. Also i must say that all those reports were ok some days before...
Is there a way for me to know what field is it refering to?
I have verified the DB and it is pointing correctly and the also the View returns data.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Gordon,

To my knowledge, no one has gotten AA 7 to work on Win 7. A few have succeeded with AA8. AA9 is the minimum certified to work on Win 7. You will likely have to upgrade for Win 7.

  • HT6437 My itunes cannot locate my ipod. All the sync option are grayed out and diagnostics says that itunes cannot find usb ports and that no device is connected when it is. What should I do to solve this issue?

So itunes is giving me problems. Since around Christmas time, itunes decided to stop reading my ipod. I connect it to my computer with the usb cable and my computer will recognize that a device is connected but itunes will not. If I go to file->devices and try to sync, all of my sync options are grayed out, while before it would just automatically sync.
When I run diagnostics it tells me that under ports that it cannot find usb ports (it has a green circle?), a type of cable isn't found, and that no device is connected with the usb cable (which my ipod is). I have been trying to fix this issue but nothing is working. I've tried restarting my ipod, itunes, and my computer, i've also tried resetting my ipod and uninstalling itunes then reinstalling itunes but nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Do the USB ports work for other devices?
    Does the iPod charge?

  • Cannot connect to port 25 externally and owa is not working

    Hi all,
just finished installing exchange 2013 and all went well.   Internally, everything works perfectly.   However, I then moved my testing externally.   Browsing to https://mydomain/owa times out - as does https://mydomain/ecp
Also, I cannot telnet to my mail server either:  telnet mydomain 25 times out.  I can though telnet mydomain 143 and telnet mydomain 110 no problem.
I have setup the receive connector as per the instructions (in fact, it was already setup) the frontend default allows anonymous access (as it should).  Windows firewall is off.  Router forwarding ports fine.
I can telnet 25 locally and as I said, everything works internally.    Clearly, there is another step that has to be taken to allow external access to the port 25 and also for owa and ecp.  I have double checked the SERVERS - VIRTUAL
DIRECTORIES area and all the external url are correct.  Can someone help please?

Ok, I rechecked my router page by page and have found one solution .. .the https management page of the router defaults to 443 - so have changed that to 4443, rebooted router and can now access my http://mydomain/owa - so that is good.  However, still
cannot telnet to port 25 on the exchange server from external.  The port forwarding is definitely correct for port 25.
I have rechecked the receive connector:  MAIL FLOW -  RECEIVE CONNECTORS - DEFAULT FRONTEND SERVER
and under security - anoymous users is checked.   That SHOULD let me connect yes?  But it does not.
Where else does this need to be changed - can you advise?
    regards

  • TCP/IP Printer ports - HELP PLEASE

I have a large inkjet printer that I print my graphic design to... for years it has been set up and printing just fine through an Actiontec M1424-WR-rev.D router. No setting were ever changed in the router, it just worked great right out of the box (the Verizon guys installed it). I had a small router with the cable company, but when I got the new router from Verozon the install guy said i didn't need it any more, and moved the ethernet plugs over to the new router. Everything worked fine for years... until the wireless functions started to fail (I don't use the wireless for the office, just the family), so, Verizon told me I had to replace it with a new M1242WR - rev. I router. I transfered all the cables over the the new router in exactly the same positions the were in on the old router. Now my printing software (RIP software) can't see the printer when it's routed through the FiOS router, but If I move the ethernet cable from the router and plug it into the back of my computer, which disconnects my computer from the network and gives me a dedicated ethernet connection to the printer... everything works fine. It's just when I try and run it through the router that my computer and printer can't talk to each other.
My RIP software that drives the printer demands a STATIC IP address set up in a TCP/IP printing port, and the printer is set up with the corresponding static IP address (this is unavoidable). Images of the setup screens below...
The RIP software setup is here... very simple:
Now, on the actual printer, the IP address matches (192.168.0.110), the subnet masks are 255.255.255.0, and the default gateway is set at 192-168.0.1.
This is all the info I have, and all I know is that it worked fine with no setup on the old router, and does NOT work on the new router... it used to be plug-n-play, now it's plug-n-stop.
Again, when the ethernet cable run directly from the computer it drives the printer just fine, connected to the router first and it failes completely.... HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Like I said... this has worked great for years, I haven't changed a thing on the printer or computer... the only change is the new router... I'm out of production until I figure this out (
    Cabe...

The revision I router out of the box uses the following default IP addresses
    192.168.1.x IP Address
    255.255.255.0 Subnet
    192.168.1.1 Default gateway
I notice you aren't using that IP Address scheme at all in the screen shots.  Did you change the Verizon router internal settings to use the 0.1 ip scheme?
