Cannot record a mic with Audigy 2 ZS through Logic Platinum 5.1

Hi, ive got the SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card and am having some problems with ASIO... i can record a mic through the mic input when using PC AV with my card, but when i try to use ASIO i cant record with a mic. I would use PC AV but the latency is way too high on it, ive looked around loads of forums including Logic forums but no one seems to have an answer to this problem, and most of the time it goes unreplied.. does anyone know of anything i can do to get my card to record in ASIO??

I guess I should not be surprised by lack of mod response. Apparently creative drivers are still going wanting. I wonder what kind of response a query to creative support would yield. I think I will shoot them a copy of my post just for giggles. I will also tell them what I think about SNEAKING that aol crap onto my rig.

Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.

Cannot record using microphone - SB Audigy 2 ZS [E9

Hello,
I have a microphone hooked up to the microphone plug in my soundcard. Although I can hear audio through the mic, when using windows recorder, I cannot record anything!
Also, when I plug the mic into the line-in, I can't hear anything through my speakers.
I can record?when I select "What U Hear," but nothing else. I've updated the drivers, but that didn't help.
Any input is appreciated!

I also wanted to add that I have selected the microphone option from the recording mixer and I have it set at a reasonable input level. I also have it unmuted from the playback mixer and have that level set at a reasonable level.

Cannot record ingame sound with glc (-git)

I have a problem with recording ingame sound with some games with glc (well, glc-git). glc says, it can record sound from games, if they use alsa (or sdl and forcing sdl to use alsa). As long as I don't use pulseaudio, this shouldn't be a problem. But for some games, I can't get the sound recording to work. The 2 at the moment are:

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
I usually get a message like this:

I can record the game, but not the audio. If someone can help or test it, if it works for him, that might be nice. Or if someone knows a workaround or so. Or if someone can confirm, that there is no audio recording for those 2 games (but I actually don't wanna hear it... :-) ).

That's not the issue, the problem is that some games are firing 32-bit float audio (0x0e type as indicated in the error) into ALSA through whatever means, and the standard GLC only supports 16, 24 and 32bit signed int audio. My fork above adds very rudimentary support for float.

Cannot record multiple mic's with mixer board

I have a Satellite P205D-S7802 - I recently bought a Behringer Xenyx mixer so I can podcast with mutiple mic's. I cannot get anything to record through the mixer. I have everything connected correct and even contacted the Behringer tech support just to be sure. Is there a way to get this to work? It is driving me crazy......Thanx

You may need to go to Control Panel under Sounds and change the default input from the internal to external mic.

Distortion - dynamic mic with audigy dr

Hi all!
I had my Audigy Platinum on a shelf since I bought my Audigy4, and yesterday I decided to install the card and the 5.25" dri've module in another PC so I can do some voice-over recording. The problem I'm having is that the sound that I input from my dynamic microphone is of poor quality. The bass is non-existant and I can hear some distortion. The gain range is very good, so it's not a problem with input impedance or gain. I can control the gain exactly the way I want... but that has no effect on sound quality from the mic.
The problem is not the microphone, it's a rather expensi've Audio-Technica performance microphone (ATM4HE for those who know their stuff). Is the dynamic range of the mic too much to handle for the Audigy dri've?
It is to be noted that my particular dri've doesn't have a JP jumper. I'm not comfortable playgin around with the jumpers on the dri've's board either... and I cannot see what this would accomplish anyway.
This is clearly not a driver problem (or is it's)... so I'm out of options and I'd like some help if any of you can provide it.

I connected it using an XLR to /4" cable... and I'm beginning to think you're right, I may have to plug it in a mixer or small console first and then input it into the card (via analog RCA inputs probably). I don't have any of this stuff anymore though... so I think I'll have to hunt down an old mixer. Anything with XLR in will do the trick I guess.
Thank you very much SoNic2367! All this knowledge dates back a lot in my case... I haven't picked up a mic in years. I used to be a stage technician... I find it rahter pathetic that I didn't think of this myself.
I'll let you know if I find a way to rig this off properly...

How do i use a mic with audigy

I have an audigy 2zs platinum pro, and the external hub (or whatever you wanna call it) is hooked up. I've plugged in my headset into "headphones" and the mic into "line in /mic in"
When i speak i can clearly hear what my mic pics up, and when i try speaking over xfire or voip, the other person doesn't hear anything except what i hear from my headphones.
I know i did something wrong and i'd appreciate help.

Recording using mic with musical accompaniment and no latency

I am using GarageBand '08 to try and record a podcast. I have created music, and am trying to talk over it and hear it all through headphones. Unfortunately, there is an unacceptable level of latency in the headphone jack this way (my mic is plugged into the mic/line in, my headphones are plugged into the line out). I have tried all the optimization settings to no avail. I have turned off "echo" and "reverb" in the live instrument settings. Where else do I turn? What do I do?

Yes, GB does have latency, and sometimes it's impossible to get rid of it. I usually record without monitoring and cover only one ear with the headphones, so I can hear myself but also the other tracks.

I'm having problems with my mic settings when using built-in game comms such as Half Life Counterstrike source and Battlefield 2...
I have my mic connected to Line / Mic on my Audigy External Panel which works fine when using voice comms such as Teamspeak and Ventrillo but when i load up any of the mentioned games it changes my settings from Line / Mic to just Mic, there is another Mic connection to the soundcard at the back as opposed to the Line / Mic connection on the external Panel but it doesn't appear to be working. Any ideas ?

Cannot record any sound with my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra audio interface

Have been using Logic for about 3 months and was able (primarily via keyboards/midi recording) to create some decent recordings (via the 'hard' way, some books, video training and without bothering a lot of people with many of my questions). Time has come to start with analog audio recording and here my problem starts. Have recently purchased the Fast Track Ultra audio interface from M-Audio.
Drivers are installed correctly. The device is saying that it functions properly. It gets recognized by my iMAC. It gets recognized in Logic and can enable the device in my audio preferences. I can clearly see in the control panel of my USB audio interface it is creating sound and meters are going up and down.
I get sound in my head phones (which are connected to the audio interface) but within Logic no sound is coming in while with the build in microphone everything seems to work fine. Have played around all kind of settings in my audio/midi configuration utility but no result.
Who can help me out ?

HELP: Cannot Record Streaming Audio w/Audigy Plati

Here's the setup:
Windows XP w/SP2 and all hotfixes
Playback and record enabled, everything else works fine
Have tried using TotalRecorder and WinAmp, get nothing but an empty file
All "mutes" are unchecked in sounds and audio section of config.
My gut feeling is that there is something hidden in WindowsXP, but I am at my wit's end with this!

No, I meant in the Windows master volume control recording drop-down list. You should be selecting "What-U-Hear."

Cannot record/playback script with certificate in OpenScript.

Hi all,
We are trying to record a simple load testing login script with a certificate, in OpenScript.
But Internet Explorer just "hangs" for a long time where the certificate selection dialog is supposed to show up, then the message "Content-Length: 0 Connection: Keep-Alive" is shown in the browser.
It doesn't work as an OpneScript functional test either. We can record the functional script, but at playback it fails to select a certificate in the "choose a digital certificate" dialog and eventually gets a timeout.
Anyone having this problem?

I don't know why I cannot record the audio with video using the capture key. There is no problem when I do the recording separately!

I have already tried the plist deletion and I evn deleted the entire application and reloaded via the APP store and still no luck.
I will try this again, I am tottally baffled that all the videos sounf fine in QT, and FCP, but NOTHING in iMovie '11 (9.0.4)
I have been using iMovie for a long time and this has never happened before????

What you need is not a mixer, but an audio interface with at least 4 mic inputs. There is a lot of choice there, but you should indicate a budget. You can go from, say, € 300 to € thousands, if you want.

However, there are other options (like multi-out mixer plus multi in interface, or standalone mic preamps plus interface with 4 inputs, etc). I have little experience using these however so I really cannot say much about which one(s) to get. The two mentioned above both have four mic preamps, but they are by no means the only way to do it.
The cheapest solution I can think of is to get a second 1204USB, plug it in, and in OS X create an Aggregate device (=the two are being merged into 'one virtual' interface with two discrete stereo (= four discrete mono) inputs. Disadvantage: you keep the same (limited) soundquality of the 16 bits convertors. Getting any of the interfaces mentioned earlier will also mean you'll make the significant step up from 16 to 24 bits sound.
