  • Cannot Record Audio using Logic Express 7.0.0 on 13" Macbook

Help! I have Logic Express 7.0.0 and am running it in on an Intel model Macbook 1.8Ghz, 13''. I do not have an external soundcard. Will this version of Logic Express allow me to record live audio if I do not have an external soundcard? I only want to be able to record & edit a single audio track, so thought I might be able to. I cannot seem to get the 'R' (Record) button to appear despite activating it in the >View< section, so I cannot arm any tracks, and so cannot record. Is there a bug with this version of Logic and the Intel Macs? Do I need to update? If so, what would be the best way to update?
    Regards,

I updated to Logic Express 7.0.1 successfully but the problem wasn't solved. Now if I try to update to Logic Express 7.2.0 it says that it cannot find the correct version of Logic Express. Im not sure how updating works - Can Logic Express 7.0.1 be updated to Logic Express 7.2.0?

  • High pitch noise when recording audio using internal mic

The issue I am having is with the internal mic. When recording audio using quicktime or garageband. It is a high pitch noise that stays whether i am speaking or not. The fix i found was to lower the input volume of the mic in system preferences. However, this causes my voice to be recorded so low that audio is barely usable unless volume is all the way up. Looking around the web I found this gem:
    http://www.usingmac.com/2009/6/18/recording-speech-with-garageband-2009
This help me get rid of the high pitch noise for Garageband. The noise still there for Quicktime. Any ideas on how I can keep the same mic input volume with out having to listen to the high pitch noise?
    Any help is appreciated.

Did you do the usual stuff, such as reset PRAM?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
There are some sound settings in PRAM, although I think it's only for sound output.
Also, as a test, I would create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account (do not use Fast User Switching). In the new account, try recording something using QuickTime, and note if this problem recurs. If it does not, you have eliminated a few possible causes, such as a problem with the overall system installation or a hardware issue, and isolated the problem to something in your normal user account.

  • How to record audio using wireless phone headset on a mac (Adobe CS6)?

I have purchased a Plantronics Savvi w440 headset, with which I want to record audio. I was assured by the company that I could.
Well, Audition won't record me talking; it only "picks up" about 1 sec, then stops recording.
I have used a variety of mics before; I know how to set them up in Audio Hardware. My Default input & output are this new headset. Still, no recording.
I have Audition CS6 on a macbook pro.
    I need help. Thanks.

Thanks Bob for your help. I had already downloaded and installed the software for this headset on my Mac. Still won't work. There are no updates for this headset. At least, I haven't found one.

  • I just recorded audio using QuickTime, but now I can't use it in iMovie.

I used QuickTime 10.0 to record audio, but now I have no way of using this audio in iMovie. I added it to my iTunes library, but I can't drag it into my project to use as a regular audio file. I can't even convert it to some audio format since QuickTime 10 doesn't have that feature.
Help! I was hoping to create a screen recording demo via QuickTime and overlay it with audio using speech I recorded using QuickTime as well, but now I see I can't. Is there any way to use audio recorded with QuickTime other than just listening to it?!? Seems like a feature that isn't done yet.

The thing is that there is no unlocked phone in the US that is available for purchase.  The T-Mobile phone is contract/sim free and not unlocked and for the unlocked phone you have to wait for at least a couple of months after release before the unlocked phone is available.
That is why you cannot use the phone in the UK because it was never unlocked in the first place if you activated it with T-Mobile.  Sim/Contract free and unlocked do not mean the same thing.  You will have to wait at least 2 months now before T-Mobile will consider unlocking your phone and then you won't be able to get 4G in the UK and you have no UK warranty, only US where you purchased the phone.
Why not buy a new phone in the UK that is unlocked and sell the US one?

  • Cannot Record Audio In CS6

I am trying to record an audio track in Premire Pro CS6 and cannot seem to get it to work.
I have a USB microphone that funcations fine, I can see the levels in Premiere and it reconds well in other programs. When I sletect my track for recording I can see the levels in the Audio Mixer, but when I press Record then Play the levels do not transfer over to the Master track and after I stop recording the audio does not get tracked, it was like it didn't record.
I have followed the steps in this article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7f3ca .html as well as other video tutorials from other websites.
I follow the steps exactly and it will not record.

I was actually able to solve my issues. It turns out I had an In and Out point set on the sequence timeline. If you have an In and Out point audio will ONLY record between the two points and no where else. After removing the In and Out points I was able to record audio just fine.

  • I have voxer, and my phone keeps saying when I am trying to hold and speak, that voxer cannot record audio without a microphone, please connect a headset and try again.

I have downloaded voxer on my phone, it was working yesterday and today, I put my phone on my docking station and used voxer a few times while it was on there.  When I took it off and tried to send a new message my phone keeps saying when I am trying to record a new message, Voxer can't record audio with out a microphone, please connect a headset and try again?
does anyone know how to change it back so it will work again?
    thanks for your help

Try resetting your phone by pressing and holding the Home button and the power button unti the silver apple appears. If that doesn't work, contact the developer of the app.

  • Cannot record audio whilst recording movie

I could previously record audio at the same time as capturing
screens. However, this does not work now. When I create a new
movie, I have the Record Narration checkbox checked, and in the
Options I have the Record Narration checked. When I click Record, I
get the sound calibration and that works fine, yet when I review
the movie there is no narration nor is there a speaker icon at the
bottom of the slide. I know that it is not my microphone as I can
add audio to the slide aferwards, but as I find narration 'after
the fact' as it were harder to get all the timings correct.
I have reinstalled Captivate to see whether this made any
difference, but I am still having the same problem.
    Can anyone help?

I am using Version 1 not Version 2

  • Cannot record audio & video simultaneously

This may seem to be a bone-head question, but here goes:
When I FIRST start a new Captivate project, and choose to
begin my recording, after I select which application I wish to
record from the drop-down list, and then click the 'fit to window'
button, then click record, I get the animated countdown box showing
the 4.3.2.1 sign with a microphone graphic. This would lead one to
believe that as they are recording their screens, the voice
narration into the headset microphone is also being recorded; well,
on my Captivate, no audio is captured.
After the recording is complete and I stop the audio
narration, Captivate compiles the slides and takes you to the
editing screen. None of my slides, despite the voice narration,
    contain audio.
It appears the only way I can add audio narration is to first
lay down the recorded screen slides, then record the narration on
"top of" each individual slide. Depending upon the situation and
some general factors, this may NOT be the ideal choice. I realize
that there are benefits to laying down the audio separately and on
an individual slide basis, but I should not only have this one
    method - right?
Has anyone else encountered this? Are you also only able to
record audio after the motion slides have been generated? This is
really frustrating when you think you have delivered a fine audio
narration all the way through a recording only to discover no audio
    was recorded with the screens/slides.
My headset and record settings are fine and I am at a loss.
Other Captivate users here experience the same thing.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If I've understood you correctly, the "countdown" you are
describing is just the visual signal to let you know when to
    begin
the narration. It sounds like you are saying that you think
the recording is over when it hits "zero", but in fact, when it
hits "0", just begin speaking - and moving the mouse through the
    application to create the movie.
All of that is assuming you have first connected and
calibrated your microphone, and that the hardware is working
    correctly before you begin.
I disagree with your comment that there is EVER a time when
it might not be best to add audio narration after-the-fact, during
the editing stage. It is just a personal observation, but I believe
the "narration during recording" feature is the biggest mistake int
he history of this great application. It just shouldn't be done -
too much like patting your head and rubbing your stomach
simultaneously - requires coordination skills that are waaaaay
beyond those of the average bear. Create your movie complete with
actions, then during editing, add the audio to the movie. It's
quick, simple, and avoids problems with synchronization of hte
audio and the background changes in the movie ... that's just my
    opinion, though ...

  • Any way to remove "reverb" in recorded audio using audio effects?

I taped an interview using a lapel mic. On playback on camcorder as well as playing it in PE7, it sounds okay. When I take the file and played it in our church over our sound system (which is state of the art) The audio of the people speaking sounds as if they're in a barrel. I have a soundtrack playing in the background and it sounds great, it's just the audio of the speaker that sounds so awful. Our sound tech says it sounds that way because of the small area I recorded in and the echoing is in the original footage, and that it's magnified when played over a good sound system. Is there a way to fix this or at least minimize the echoing "reverb" sound using the audio effects? Thanks!

One of the suggestions via Ozpeter's links was to model the impulse response from speaker to microphone in the reverberant environment. This is roughly what Gloftis would have to do:
Put the speaker back in exactly the same position in the original room with the same lapel mic in exactly the same position. Add a small high quality microphone close to the lips of the speaker. It would have to be so close that the reverberation was negligible and positioned so that breath pops didn't occur. Then get the speaker to say or read a few minutes of speech, and record the output of both microphones simultaneously. From this, the room acoustic and lapel microphone response as a whole could be computed (a black box filter response). The inverse response then needs to be computed, and you hope that such a filter is stable (not guaranteed). Then pass the reverberant speech through this inverse filter and voilà!
Another solution suggested was expanding the low levels downwards. That is essentially what I suggested in my first post. Expansion should be less obtrusive than gating (hard on/off).
Finally, the most straight forward method, if practicable, is to re-record the voice material in a non-reverberant environment. He/she could listen to the original speech and read out the material in synchronism, with the same mannerisms, to preserve lip-synch.

  • Dv6 notebook Cannot record audio

Hi I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx Entertainment Notebook PC, windows 7 and I can't record any audio.  The web cam crapped out a few months ago so I don't know if that's related.  The IDT Audio HD Codec Driver is installed and apparently up to date.  I've tried to record with both stereo mix and integrated microphone array set as default.  I've tried sound recorder, audacity, and max msp and I simply can't get any audio signal.  My PN is LW262UA#ABA.   Thank you.

hI jIM66, Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the sound and recording on your computer.  I have found a updated Audio driver for you that may resolve the issue.  Please click on the link that I have provided and do the download.  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4308... On this same page is a download for the HP Support Assistant. The Support Assistant is a great tool to use if you think you may have issues with your computer. It will run threw a scan on your computer and come back with pin pointed diagnostics so I suggest that you download and install it as well.
If these steps do NOT resolve the issue, please feel free to respond.
    Thanks in advance

  • Cannot record audio

In ex.8 when I arm a track (by the way, when I do so, it does not bring the audio path dialogue up) Trashed perferences, re-installed, just did the update, checked motu drivers, etc. etc. These are projects from logic ex.7. Recording a no go. When I hit the record button it crashes logic 8, and oddly enough crashes the finder.
    Anyone else have this problem.
    Thanks

I would check to be sure you can record using another app and the core audio drivers for your Motu. Since these are existing projects I wouldnt expect the audio path dialogue to appear since the path should already be defined in the project properties. You can check the project properties also to be sure it is seeing the audio path. I am assuming - you can playback these existing LE 7 projects okay? Can you save these existing projects?
