Cannot record from cam in quicktime 7.0.3

Loads up the cam, and I see the image, but when I ask it to begin recording, it say the disk is full, or not writeable. Disk is not even the least bit full.
I was thinking there might be another app that had the cam open, but did not see one.
BTW - EvoCam records just fine.

Ok, silly me - You MUST set up a capture FOLDER and not the desktop to get the cam to save a file.

Recording from camera directly to iMovie

How to record directly to iMovie 10 from camera (Canon HV20)? I can see my camera, but no "record" button available. Any hints?

I'd recommend the Canopus ADVC 110 but it's more than you want to spend ...
+Assuming I can find the necessary adapter, is it feasible to take the feed from the camera directly into iMovie for viewing/recording/editing or would I need some kind of intermediary software?+

Cannot import from cameras

Hi. LR 4.4. Mac OS X 10.9.5. Sudden problem: LR does not find files to import from cameras. I read some similar problems here so: Changed cable. Changed cameras. LR FINDs the cameras and identifies them correctly. But when I hit import, in bottom left corner it says "finding files", circle rotating indefinitely and nothing shows up. I deleted LR preference file. Started new catalog. Strangely, if interestingly, it did then ONCE find 5 of 100 pix on my Nikon D7000, but not the other 95 photos, and still nothing on the Canon Powershot G7X. It can import from the hard drive. Frustrating! Thanks for any suggestions. ---DG

Ios7 updated few days back after this I am facing problem with my video recording in camera? Now only one option is showing in my camera - photo which is giving me option to click picture, square. HDR on/off.

I would like to know how I can to determinate via some formula, approximately, the result file size due to camera and microphone configuration.
I show you my actual configuration:

I'd say 9.4 mb is correct. Email attachments always put on a lot of weight, so 12 mb as an attachment is probably right too.
Why don't you use a free service like Filemail? It's very easy to use, and you dont't have to sign up to use it.

Cannot download from camera

I can download from USB with the cameras own utility though (canon EOS utility in this case), but image capture, iphoto etc just lists the pics and halts at 0% when starting to download. This happens for both iPhone and camera pictures. All worked fine till a week ago...

I have a Sound Blaster Li've! Value sound card and am trying to record streaming audio from the internet. I have tried doing this with the Creative Recorder and with Windows sound recorder with "Wave" selected as recording source. Neither programs "sense" and audio when i am playing the audio and when i record it nothing is recorded. My microphone does pick up sound and both programs reord it fine. Can anyone let me know how to fix this?

First things first. Most CD's will only play left and right chanel depending on the program you are using to play audio CD's. If you can get your sound cards play control to open and show you the volume controls.
Usualy double clicking on the speaker down by the clock in the lower right corner.
If you see front and rear settings is the rear volume control at minimum or maximum?
Change it as needed if its there.
In the program you use to play the CD's look in its properties setting and see if there are any front and rear settings. Also do your speakers have a front and rear volume on them?
Be warned if you change some of these setting your games might be loud from the rear.

Hi! I just bought a WebCam NX Pro and successfully installed it, at least that is what I thought. But, when I tried to record a video an error message occurs as follows:

Your best option at this point would be to attempt to uninstall and reinstall the camera completely. First make sure to shut down all background programs and your antivirus, then go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall all of the camera software and drivers. After this is done, make sure that everything is still disabled and reinstall the camera.

Cannot import from camera

I've got 2 cameras, a Canon EOS 30D and SD 550. Ever since upgrading to version 1.5.1 of Aperture the cameras do not show up as import options. The cameras are recognized in the system profiler and will open Aperture when plugged in and turned on, but the cameras do not show up as import options. I have tried all of the USB ports to no avail.
On a peculiar note, I have the same problem with iPhoto.
I am lost. Any Ideas?

Thanks for the feedback William. I'll have to look into an external reader. Is there a specific brand that you have had good luck with?
In the mean time I did figure out my problem. I used the disk utilities to correct permissions ( whatever that means) and I zapped the PRAM 3 times. One or both of these strategies worked.

Your photos are actually all in the Camera Roll. The album you create only contain pointers to these pictures. Albums are like music playlists; when you delete a song from the playlist it doesn't delete the song from your music library. But when you delete a song from your music library it will also be deleted from any playlists that it may have been in as well.

FCP X will import into separate clips every time it detects a scene change (as when you stopped and started recording in the camera). There is no option to avoid this, as far as I known.
You may try importing from camera using Quicktime Player X and then bringing the imported file into FCP X.

IMovie'08 (7.1) Crashes during Import from Camera

Well, it is hard to say simpler then the subject line of this posting... iMovie'08 (7.1) Crashes during Import from Camera (PANASONIC PV-GS500). I use 24GHz MacBook Pro with 4Gig of RAM. Importing to OWC 500Gig RAID drive, as well as to the internal 200Gig 7200 RPM drive. So it certainly looks like not because of hardware. I tried to remove DIVX and Pearl plugins from QT folder in Library as it was suggested in previous postings to no success. It seems like I am not the only one with this problem here. If iMovie cannot import from camera then what is it good for? By the way, the previous version of iMovie works fine importing etc. Did I just wasted $79.00? Anybody knows the solution? I hope somebody can help.

FOUND FIX
I found this fix in another thread post. iMovie 7 appears to be bugged, but you can import movies if you download iMovie6 HD. It's apparently free from apple for iLife 08 users.

Hours spent trying all sorts and iMovie HD ... just seems to work. Someone suggested that I use an external HD to improve performance. Just make sure you don't use Fat32 because it bombs when the file size gets to 2GB lol. It's a limitation of the Fat32 format. Since you can't access NTFS directly, you're a bit stuffed if you want to use the external HD with you Mac and PC. Either format it for your mac or your pc.

QuickTime Player Won't Record from Sony Camera

Odd problem. I have 2 Mac Book Pro 13 laptops running 10.8, identical configurations, both running the latest version of Quick Time. I also have 2 identical Sony HD Professional Video cameras. We use these in our studio here at Stanford.
I start the QuickTime program (free, built-in), and select the Sony DVR camera (connected via Firewire to the MBP), and hit Record. On one of the laptops the counter begins running, and when I'm done I hit Stop and then I can select what to name the recording and where to save it.
On the other laptop I hit Record, the counter does NOT start running, and when I hit Stop, it returns an error: Cannot Record - please try again. There is no other detail about the error.
Both laptops are completey updated with the latest patches, and there's no other difference between the two laptops. Both have the same version of QuickTime.
I can't find anything in the forums anywhere that describe this specific issue.
Ideas?

Screen Recording from Quicktime.

I cannot start screen recording from Quicktime. Every time I click on record or the triangle for options, the window underneath is selected. It's like my computer does not recognize tHas anyone else had this issue?
I am running the latest version of OSX 10.7.3 and have this issue on my iMac and Air.

Thanks for the reply. All I did was enter a fade in at the start and a fade out at the end. I didn't enter any transitions in the actual video. The screen recording coming from QuickTime is H.264/AAC. It just doesn't look right once it gets added into iMovie. It seems to have something to do with the cropping too maybe as I have to select Fit in Frame in my project so that it doesn't get cropped out. Even without exporting just playing my project in iMovie looks like poor quality without going to iTunes?
Is there no way to add fade in/out in QuickTime then I wouldn't even use iMovie? Thanks!
