Cannot record guitar properly!

I am fairly new to Garage Band. I just bought iMic and an adaptor and I plugged my guitar pickup in it. It's a Shadow external pickup that is supposedly of good quality but obviously isn't as good as an internal pickup.
When I record my guitar on Garage Band, I get a very unclear, muffled and distorded sound, that only comes out of the right speaker, although both channels are turned on. (I have really cheap headphones though!) I have tried turning down the master and output volumes but I get the same result.
Would it be better to record my guitar from an external microphone?

So I switched to only channel 1 and now get sound on both speakers.
I tried to play as far to my computer as possible, but still gets the distorded sound. It sounds very much as if the volumes were too high or the pickup too close to the strings. (or as if you were speaking in a microphone inside your mouth!)
I don't have any volume controls on my pickup, I believe the type of pickup it is is called a transducer. there are different types of tranducers, and I unfortunately do not know what type it is although I strongly believe it's a magnetic one. It is one you just insert in the sound hole, therefore cannot move it away from the strings. Maybe it's simply not good for recording.
I hope there is a way to fix this within the Garage Band functions and many buttons that I still can't properly understand.

If there is not enough RAM, OS X temporarily stores RAM data on the harddrive and tries to retrieve it back into RAM when needed, unfortunately that is so slow that GB throws an error as it cannot play it all in real time.

Help with recording guitar on GarageBand using M-Audio Firewire Solo

Hello everyone. I hope someone can help me. I recently bought a new mac mini and M-Audio Firewire Solo to record music. I'm new at recording so I have no idea what to do.
The problem is when I record playing the guitar, the sound is so low, I can barely hear the guitar playing when I play it back. I turned the gain to maximum level and I still can barely hear the guitar record. I know it's recording because I can hear the guitar when I play the record back, but the sound is way too low.
The weird thing is that the microphone works fine and when I record vocals, I can hear the playback fine.
Did I miss anything? Is there a good setting for recording guitars using M-Audio Firewire Solo? Is it because M-Audio Firewire Solo is not compatible with the latest Mac Mini system?

I connect the guitar to the guitar input that is in front of M-Audio firewire solo using this cable: http://www.livewire-usa.com/products/products.cfm?sBrand=adv . Then I turn gain up to the maximum level.
When I play the guitar, you know the bar that goes green on garageband (not sure what it's called)? Even if I strum really hard, the green never goes up past 1/4 of the bar. When I'm using the mic and speak a bit loudly, I can see that bar turning red. So it seems like it's not reading the input properly, but really I'm not sure, so hopefully you'll be able to help me
I'm actually using the mac mini's speaker to hear the sound, so I'm not sure if it's only coming from one speaker or not.

If you are referring to recording of "system" audio during a screen recording, then that is not a feature "natively" included in QT X and you would have to invest in a third-party app having this built-in option.
If you are referring to mic voice-overs or access to non-native software you have installed, then use the recorder triangle option to select an input option. While you can mic record system audio playing back through your system speakers, the audio is usually of poor quality if the volume is too low or prone to feedback if the volume is set too high.

WMV is a heavily-compressed format/CODEC, and the processing time will depend on several factors:
Your CPU, which is not that powerful in your case
Your I/O sub-system, which is likely a single HDD on your laptop
The source footage. What is your source footage?
Any Effects added to that footage. Do you have any Effects?
Each of those will have an impact on the time required.
The trial has only one main limitation - the watermark. Now, there are some components, that have to be activated, but are not with the trial, but they would be evident with Import of your source footage, if it's an issue.

Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.

and I got the whole recording guitar and bass thing down
but say i'm writing my own stuff
and i like a drum loop thats in garageband
just some drum set loops that i like
how can i adjust their speed so that they go on beat with my guitar riff and actually sound good?
will these change ALL the tempo of my project?
I just want to be able to record a guitar riff, select a drum track, and sync the drum track to the guitar riff so it's on beat and i can make the song sound more complete

The question here is timing. If you recorded your parts sticking to an exact tempo, then you can add a drum loop. But if you didn't set the BPM to match your recording you're going to have trouble. You'd have to then figure out the BPM you played at, then set it accordingly, uncheck "follow tempo & pitch" for the regions you already recorded, then add the loops. But, as I said, unless you followed the tempo exactly, which is very unlikely, it won't match. Go ahead and experiment and you'll see what we're saying.
You can create your own beat after the fact by playing software drums along with your parts, but that will take longer for sure.
But why not lay down the loops and then replay the parts you wrote?

Hi, I have this exact same problem. I haven't been using an iRig, just a cheap USB-jack cable. I managed to do this with the first cable I bought, but since it broke I've been unable to find a replacement that allows me to hear the drums while recording. DId you manage to get over this issue? If you want to disable the tax code requirement for that particular GL a/c XXXXX.
1) In FS00 Please chck if there is any tax category specified(under control data tab), please ensure that no tax code is specified.(this particular chk mark will make the gl account as tax relevant)
2) if no tax code specified in fs00, you need not specify anything in the transaction code FBCJC2 (For that business transaction) in the field tax code.
3) So at the time of posting transaction in FBCJ it will not give any error.

i remember that when i first installed mac osx sl and windows xp bootcamp - the first couple of times around when partitioning the hd - the line-in worked a couple of times, in between times somewhere along the line i made some change to the spdif settings ?? or driver / to make the red light that comes on in the line-in jack go away - the other method was to use a toothpick to push a tiny button inside the jack, did that once -but the redlight came back again after a restart on bootcamp side.

Although I don't use it, the Line-Input jack should require a signal about 40dB higher than what a microphone alone puts out. If your cable only adapts the connector and does not provide amplification, I'm not surprised you get nothing. If you are lucky, you MIGHT get a low signal by going into System Prefs/Sound/input/line-in and turning the input level slider all the way up. But the real answer to to get a mike preamp or mixer, or a mike with line-level output. Some products take a mike input and convert it to digital into the USB port.

There is never any guarantee that automatically generated html will look right on every browser, especially Explorer. For max compatibility with MS stuff it's best to use Office to start with instead of iWorks.

I am very glad to help you with this.
According to the specifications in the user manual, this model records to the internal memory by default in any shooting mode. You can manually select to record to the SD cards, but only in the Manual or Cinema modes. If you are shooting in Auto, clearing out some of the internal memory should stop the "Cannot Record" message from appearing.

Player Error: "You cannot record without enabling at least one track for recording"

So I'm trying to adjust my audio using the track mixer in premiere pro cc. I assigned 2 clips to a submix. When I tried to record, I got the following error: "You cannot record without enabling at least one track for recording." I disabled other tracks, then re enabled them all, muted them all, but still got the same error when I tried to record.

This is how I have just made a recording:
Select track to record (1), Select record (2) then press play to record.
Use the in-out markers in the program monitor to select the area to record.
