Cannot record multiple mic's with mixer board

I have a Satellite P205D-S7802 - I recently bought a Behringer Xenyx mixer so I can podcast with mutiple mic's. I cannot get anything to record through the mixer. I have everything connected correct and even contacted the Behringer tech support just to be sure. Is there a way to get this to work? It is driving me crazy......Thanx

You may need to go to Control Panel under Sounds and change the default input from the internal to external mic.

Hi, ive got the SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card and am having some problems with ASIO... i can record a mic through the mic input when using PC AV with my card, but when i try to use ASIO i cant record with a mic. I would use PC AV but the latency is way too high on it, ive looked around loads of forums including Logic forums but no one seems to have an answer to this problem, and most of the time it goes unreplied.. does anyone know of anything i can do to get my card to record in ASIO??

[SOLVED] Whirring noise in recording via mic - will HW mixing help?

I'm getting whirring noise in mic recording (adjustng mic and mic-boost does not help) it also happens on ubuntu 11.04; so I guess it is a hardware issue. Strangely, I hear no noise in Windows XP in recording (sound recorder). Whereas in Archlinux, skype, audacity, arecord, gnome-sound-recorder all are having whirring noise.
I guess, it might have something to do with Intel Audio, so I'm planning to buy Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 (emu10k1), which has Hardware Mixing feature supported by Alsa.
Do you know any way to "suppress noise" and "echo cancellation" in arch for microphone recording?
Please advise.

I went to the computre hardware market today to buy 'Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 with emu10k1 chipset'.
I thought that having hardware mixing (HWMIX) will fix noise, as the sound card is shielded from interference.
But, unfortunately or fortunately, the SBS 5.1 is not available in the market. only SBS 5.1VX model which has a different chipset is available.
So, I retured a bit disappointed thinking that the evil microsoft has caused the soundcard manufactureres to stop support to non MS OS, oh my poor linux hardware!

I tried fiddling with sample rate, and you know what, the whirring noise is gone. It's like Windows (without fan noise suppression and echo cancellation but no static noise)
HURRAY I FOUND THE SOLUTION: setting the sound-card sampling-rate to 96000 (for my intel sound card) fixes the noise!
Here's HOWTO fix microphone noise problem in linux which was bugging me for many years!
1. Determine soundcards in the system
$ arecord --list-devices

Now that we got the max-sampling-rate to 96000, we should set this in pulseaudio's configuration file /etc/pulse/daemon.conf. So first test it:
Just a quick test
arecord -f dat -r 96000 -D hw:0,0 -d 5 test.wav
And surprise, surprise, no whirring static noise in the mic recording in linux. Hurray again!
3. Setting the soundcard's sampling rate into pulse audio configuration
the default sample-rate in pulseaudio is
cat /etc/pulse/daemon.conf|grep sample-rate

we got 44100 and which is disabled
Let's set that to our hardware specific settings:

4. Restart pulseaudio to apply the new settings

Cannot have multiple domain controllers with Essentials role in 2012 R2 Standard/Datacenter

Microsoft's Technet post on deploying Essentials Role in an existing AD environment states the following:
"The online service integration features only work when the server is a domain controller. Also, integration cannot be initiated if there are multiple domain controllers in the environment. The product team is investigating possible solutions."

Microsoft Essentials Role product team, can you let us know when this will be fixed? I will not be installing Essentials as a Role if I cannot have multiple domain controllers.
As soon as I add another domain controller the Essentials role no longer functions as designed.
This is quite an oversight by your team. Can we have an ETA for a fix to this please?

Hi. We can't give ETA. Most user there that help does not work for Microsoft. (and if a Microsoft's employee help, then it's on it's free time at home or during break)
Thus, for that reason, please call the support to get a good answer on the ETA is it's planned or not. Be advised that the essential's version replaced the SBS, thus it target small office, such limitation can stay for a long time IMO.

Does garage band 3 support recording x amount of mics at once to their own track provided the correct firewire hardware is used?
Example can I record a kick, snare, and 2 over head mics all at once and then go back an edit what each mic recorded or will it all be mixed down into one track?

I have come the conclusion that this is not just a mic problem but a uni'versal line in problem since several devices can be connected thru my SoundBlaster Li've! 24-bit line in port. I'm assuming its a software problem and it seems to be a common problem. The second possibilty is that part of the board is either defected or assembled incorrectly. Either way everyone seems to have made sure that:
A. there drivers are up to date.
B. they have dissabled any other audio device in windows or in BIOS.
C. there mic won't work no matter what port they attempt.
D. creative software changes of audio devices and mixer still don't change anything.
I came on here for answers yet all i find is questions.
And all seem to be pretty similar. There are many other posts pertaining individual audio cards, yet they all have the same problem. If your having the same problem post here and keep this thread ali've, if you have an answer to your own problems you'd like to share post it here. If you have a PCI-GPIB card, you needn't worry about the USB port or whether or not Windows ME supports 1394. All you need in NI-488.2 version 1.70 from National Instruments. Install this driver and then insert your card. Windows should detect the card and find the proper driver.
If this did not happen in the proper sequence, look in the device manager and see if the card was installed as an "other device". If this happens, remove the card in the device manager and have windows redetect it. If this is not a solution, you may consider the ask an engineer page at www.ni.com/ask. Provide as many details as possible.

Cannot record stereo track along with built-in camera

I'm hoping since imovie 6 is considered superior, by some, to more recent versions that knowledgeable users are still following this forum. I've got a pair of stereo mics going through a lexicon usb interface -- chosen as the input in audiomidi setup -- but imovie will only record them in mono. The same mics record fine in stereo for audio applications such as garageband. The best I can deduce is that when using my macbook's built-in camera -- that is, clicking 'record with isight' -- imovie will receive the audio from the interface, but only in mono -- as would be the case were I using the built-in mic as well. What has your experience been?

When you open iMovie look at the switch under the screen. You will see a camera on the left of the switch and scissors on left. Flip the switch to the camera and the built in camera should come on. Then on the screen it will say record with isight. That starts the record.

Keyboard accessibility, Captivate 8 - I cannot select multiple choice options with tab / enter.

It seems that most information I can find is that it's a standard feature, and if you have the accessibility checkbox selected then it should work. I'm viewing my quiz in HTML5 Chrome. Tabs do not enter the answers, am I missing something obvious?

I don't know if you resolved this yet... but I had the same problem. Eventually I realized that you have to TAB - SPACE BAR on the quiz slides. With the drop downs for filling in the blanks, it is TAB to, SPACE BAR, UP DOWN ARROW KEYS, ENTER. I am having to put instructions on the slide. Also, I'm having a nightmare with the tabbing on quiz slides, because for some reason it tabs on EVERYTHING on the slide, not just the interactive options. It even tabs the slide itself. I can't fix it... I've tried everything. I have it all perfect on everything but the quiz slides, then it loses focus. Also, for the fill in the blank quiz slides, it tabs to the selections all over the place. First it goes to question 1, then 6 then 3, then 2... and so on. As these don't show up in the tabable order feature, I can't fix that either.
Sorry I just probably made it worse for you... but if you know of a fix for these other tabbing issues with quiz slides, please let me know.

Need help in recording multiple seperate tracks

hello, i've used cool edit and now audition to record for the last eight years or so. however, i've never gone byond tracking more then one mic at a time in the past. with some upcoming projects i will be tracking a full band and need to record multiple mics (most challenging being drums) and i need to be able to assign each mic to its own seperate track in real time.
i will be using a PreSonus firebox which was four inputs. i can make do with four mics just fine. my only problem is i can't find any info and i'm not even sure audition allows for simultaneous multi channel recording. it is imperative i be able to have separation for each mic for mixing. any advice/help? will i be forced to find another program?

Audition handles multitrack recording just fine.
You don't say what version of Audition you have (there are variations in how to set up the recording) but if you're on the current 3.0 version, you'd:
Under Edit/Audio Hardware Set up, click on the Multitrack tab at the top. On the "Audio Driver" menu, select the appriopriate Presonus driver. Under "Default Input" Select the Presonus interface. Also select it on the Output menu if you want to outuput sound that way for monitoring. Click Okay.
Go to Multitrack view in the main programme.
Work down the inputs for each track (marked with a right-facing arrow) and select "Mono" and the Presonus output you wish to go to that track. If you want to output back to the Presonus, do the same with the output selection, otherwise just leave it to "Main".
(At this point, I suggest you save a session as "Basic multi setup" or similar to make it faster for the next take--then do a "Save As" for the actual recording you're about to do.)
Click the "R" button on each track you wish to record in (you don't have to do all tracks every time) to arm for record.
Click the main Record button to actually start recording.
If you have an earlier version of Audition or Cool Edit Pro, the procedure is similar but some of the controls are accessed in different ways.

Cannot open multiple PDFs in Acrobat Reader X

Ever since upgrading to Acrobat X, I cannot open multiple PDFs. With all previous versions over recent years, up to version 9, I could select multiple PDF files in Windows Explorer, hit Enter, and it loaded them all. Then I could Ctrl+F6 to switch between the documents. Quick and Easy.
Now, if I try this with just 2 PDF files, it loads one and then locks up, almost stalling the PC, with each session of Acrobat taking about 40-45% of processor power. I have to crash out of it.

[P.S. As an aside, I don't like this floating toolbar that only appears if you happen to move the mouse over the bottom part of the screen. I suppose it's a "neat idea" from one of the programmers trying to be clever. Well guys, it is not user friendly. As a former Software QA and Product Manager, one of my design adages was "DON'T MAKE ME GUESS". Please think again.]

In my case: v10.1.1 would not open more than one pdf at a time on a user workstation (although mine did) so I tried disabling protected mode and made sure the large image display setting was correct.
To no avail. Reinstalled version base version 10, checked the same settings...no joy
Also tried repairing the install and re-updated from the base v10...still no love
Solution for me: Opened reader X, under Help-->Online Support, there is an option to generate a system report which availed the following:
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Version: 7.15.10.9685
Check: Not Supported
And of coarse the most recent driver was already present. Had to go back to v9.4
All good now. Hope this saves someone a few hours!

I can record voice memos fine using the built-in iPhone 4 mic. And my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone Era) works fine when I leave messages on voice mail systems etc. when calling on the iPhone 4. However, I cannot record voice memos with my Bluetooth mic.

Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.

set-up - 2010 iMac w/ intel core i7 processor @ 2.8 GHz, 16 GB RAM, latest mac os x 10.9 "maverick" update and the latest version updated of garage band; also, iPad third generation 64 GB wi-fi only with the latest version of iOS 7.0.3 and iOS GarageBand app v. 2.0 (3090.25). i also have the adapter apple sold for the iPad that gives it a usb interface - this was for usb sticks that had photos, but i'm hoping it'll work well with GarageBand also.
i'm wanting to do some podcast audio recording with multiple inputs (audio round table discussion setting), as well as some home studio recording (mostly acoustic guitar work). i already have several good mics.
i am looking for a mix board that will interface well with digital output to the GarageBand on the iMac, preferably to both the iMac and the GarageBand app on the iPad also. i want the mix board to have some form of _modern_ digital out, preferably usb (but could work, maybe, with lightning/thunder). the iPad is for when i want to record something on the road for a podcast, the iMac stays in my home office/studio. i'm looking for a mix board fitting these specs that i could pick up fairly reasonably on ebay or the like.
i've looked a bit at tascam and alesis. i was wondering what folks here might recommend and what their experience is? also, if not a mix board, then what would you recommend for a multiple digital interface input of the mics, say four or five at a time, going into the iMac or iPad for live recording?

It looks like these boards are "class compliant" USB, meaning there are no drivers to install, it's basic plug-and-play.
To use it in Garageband you would have to go to (Garageband) preferences and set it up as the recording/playback device. The Mac's system preferences have nothing to do with a (decent) audio program's audio device selection.
Garageband probably defaults to built-in-audio.
The problem you will have is that the USB output is probably stereo only. You can record multiple inputs, but only as a stereo Mix. (or two mono tracks). I say probably because I don't really know. It doesn't prevent you from laying down tracks one (stereo) or two (mono) at a time.

Recording from Mixing board to GB

I am a teacher in a middle school. In my industrial tech. class we have a radio broadcasting station. At this station I have a mixing board as well as other euipment. Now my mixing board has an output that runs to a reciever so I can play it over the speakers. I unplugged this and plugged in a RCA to 1/8" cable and plugged this into my macbook mic in. When i go to record music in GB all i get is a lot of static, but with the same set up just recording Talking into a mic through mixing board set up. it comes through just fine. Why do i get the static and how can i fix it?

I record multiple tracks (3-5) from real instruments and vocals. I want to send these files to a collaborator to add more tracks to, but Garageband wants to mix these down (which I don't want). How can I send the multiple tracks files to my friend?

I have not found a way to do this without the process mixing down the tracks. I don't want them mixed down like when I send them to Itunes. Also I can't seem to just attach a file directly to an email for sending purposes. I thought I saw a method to do this with software instruments, but how do you do it with real instruments? I've tried every process on the "export" list to try to accomplish this, without success. Thanks for any breakthrough advice on this!

But for completeness's sake , you cou can mail a project, if you ctrl-click the project and use "Compress xxx.band". This will compress the project and create a zip file, that you can mail (if it is not too large). But ask your friend for the maximal file size allowed as a mail attachment.
But whichever method you use to share your project, be sure you include all loops and instruments, if your friend does not have the same JamPacks installed. You can bundle the loops into the project by saving it as an archive. "File > Save as" and check the "Archive Project" option.
If this option should be disabled, you can force it to become active by editing your project slightly. It is only available, if the project needs saving.
