Cannot recover ERASED ipod files

1) i accidently erased my entire harddrive (by going to itunes and clicking something, like sync/erase all)
2) i tried to recover my ipod through a program called "recover my ipod" and successfully got all the files i needed but once i recovered them, the mp3's didn't work (they are just sitting there in a large folder on my desktop, i think they are all corrupted? none the less i have the file sizes and file names of everything)
3) my "recovered" files do not work....
how do i get them to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure about the "erase" bit, or where you needed to "recover" the files from, but assuming that you have simply removed the contents from the iPod but they are still in the library; >>
connect the iPod to your computer and when the Summary screen shows up look for the *Sync only checked songs and videos* tick-box and make sure it has a tick in it but the *Manually manage music and videos* does not have a tick in the box. Then click on the Sync button which should put the contents back onto the iPod.
What happens?

In your next-to-last post, you said: "... when I recovered the iBooks app, it was empty due to having a different owner of the app."
I'm suggesting you change the owner of the app and maybe then it won't be empty.
You can delete/remove the app and get your own from the app store and install it. Maybe then you'll see your PDFs.

How to erase ipod files

I am going to take my ipod on a trip from home for use as a photo storage device. I plan to start out with music and video on board, but when I'm ready to download photos, I want to dump the ipod contents or better yet, selectively dump contents.
Is there any way to do either...without a computer? I will be away from my computer at home.

This is one of the most stupid non-features that should be included. You have to go through **** and high water to simply delete items when on other players you select and delete. Anyone use rockbox here? Do they have a delete function built in?

Unable to export photos, original file was emptied in Trash and cannot recover.

Photo files are still in Lightroom, but I accidentally deleted and emptied the Trash with the original photo files. So now, as I try to export the photos, it is saying photos are offline or missing. I cannot recover the original file location because the trash was emptied. How can I still export the photos in Lightroom, it's a wedding that I HAVE to be able to export?!

If the file is deleted, you restore it from your camera card; or
If the file is deleted, you restore the photo from your backups.
If you have no backups, well I can't understand why anyone would not have backups of important photos. You might want to consider developing a strategy where all your files are backed up as soon as possible after the photos are copied from camera card to computer.
You can recover the previews from Lightroom, but these are usually small size and lower-quality versions of your photos, probably not suitable for printing. Use this plug-in to recover the previews: robcole.com - PreviewExporter
You might also try recovering the deleted files from your computer's hard disk and/or camera card, using something known as an "undelete utility", one of which is Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download
By the way, your photos are never stored in Lightroom, they are/were stored on your hard disk.

Cannot recover Pocket Informant backup data

I set up for backing up my iPhone 4 to my local PC.
After a fatal crash of Pocket Informant app I cannot recover the data file.
iTune Help suggests highlighting the filename in Apps File Sharing & clicking "Choose" BUT "Choose" button not shown.
Also, cannot find file on PC using Winfows 7 search.

I have tried doing all of this. I had backed up via itunes and went to restore...I didnt get all of the contacts...well any of the at all..I didnt get.

Basics of File Recovery
Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location. OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone. Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive. Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk. Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

Here are some possible solutions:
Do you use musicmatch jukebox on your computer? If you do, you have to go into task manager on windows and end process mim.exe. It interferes with disconnecting ext devices
Empty your "trash/recycle bin."
If that doesn't work, try quitting all your programs, especially music-type programs, basically things that look for mp3's etc.
if that doesn't work, "log off" then "log on" and that should refresh/purge your OS system.
Finally, you can restart your computer.

Itunes erases all files on ipod when I try to sync everytime

Help! Whenever I sync my ipod, itunes automatically erases my files on my ipod without reason. So I have to sync all my music again. I don't know if I made it do this, or my computer just does not like my ipod. Can someone tell me what I should try to do to fix this! Sometimes my computer has a box that pops up and says I can scan for something or fix without scanning, or the usual #48 error???????

well there is a setting in itunes9 to tell it not to sync ipod when connected automatically.
Its under itunes menu...edit,pref's,device settings tab...tick "dont sync auto".
do you have more then one ipod on itunes or more then one itunes program on pc, that could cause it..or are you connecting it to a program not currently authorized w/that ipod?

ORA-01124: cannot recover data file 1 - file is in use or recovery

I am trying to recover standby database, but it is giving the below error.
ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors
ORA-01124: cannot recover data file 1 - file is in use or recovery, recovery is already stated
ORA-01110: data file 1: 'I:\ORACLE\QAS\SAPDATA1\SYSTEM_1\SYSTEM.DATA1'
when i checked in the alert log the recovery is not started. and later i hae given "alter database recover cancel' and the command end up with the below line
"media recovery not started".
it seems that the recovery has stuck in between.
please advise me how to kill the recovery session that's stuck. because i dont want to bounce the standby database.

Without dataguard and MRP, you are running a scripted standby.
In a scripted standby, a RECOVER DATABASE session would have an UNTIL clause (most likely UNTIL SEQUENCE). At the end of the recovery to that point (SEQUENCE#), it exits and shuts down the database.
Also, the scripting is such that when one RECOVER session is active, another session is not allowed to start. It may loop in wait state or exit and retry at the next scheduled interval.
Apparently your standby scripting is not robust enough to prevent another RECOVER session from starting off even as the first is active (and/or it doesn't have a proper UNTIL clause and stop, exit, shutdown actions)
What you have is a custom implementation of a standby database. Without complete details of the script, the "locking" between sessions (to prevent a second RECOVER from starting when one is already running) etc .... we really cannot do much to help you.
Your scripts should be maintaing status information . It should be possible for you to discover the "other" sqlplus session that has issued a RECOVER DATABASE but not yet exited (e.g. ... how about a simple "ps -ef |grep sql" and "ps -ef | grep ora" combination ??)

Why Oracle Linux 5 cannot recover disk space after delete files ?

Hello. When I create a Virtual Machine for Oracle Linux 5 to install EBS R12, I allocate 300GB to the VM. I download EBS R12 Source Files (45.7GB) and unzip the files (46GB). Total size of stage area directory(EBS_R12) is 91.7GB.
Because some files are corrupted and cannot install, I move the folder EBS_R12 into trash but cannot empty trash. I move EBS_R12 from trash back to the directory. Then at root user, use command "rm -rf " to delete EBS_R12 completely.
I shut down Oracle Linux 5 and restart it, 91.7GB disk space cannot recover.
I download some other files into Oracle Linux files and then delete those files, but disk space cannot be recovered either.
It seems that OEL5 virtual disk only can expand but cannot be reduced. The VM disk space is less than 200GB now and not enough to install EBS R12.
Can any folks tell me how to make 91.7GB disk space and some more disk space come up ?

Host OS is Windows 7, Guest OS is Oracle Linux 5 on the top of VMPlayer 3. The VM of Oracle Linux 5 is created on the external USB drive and not on the local hard disk.
There is a directory /tmp/VMwareDnd/376c7cae/EBS_R12 in Oracle Linux 5 file system. I copy/Paste the folder of EBS_R12 from Windows 7 into Oracle Linux 5. All of zip files and unzipped files are placed in the folder of EBS_R12.
After EBS_R12 is deleted, the external USB drive(F:) doesn't come up 91.7GB disk space.
My question is:
Where to run "boot>linux rescue" command ?
Does this command work correctly in the external USB drive ?

The video tab in ipod is locked- cannot load dvd (.mp4 files) files to ipod

I converted the dvd files to .mp4 files (Using cusoft).
The files were loaded in the itune (by using add files to library). I can play the dvd in the itune on my pc but cannot transfer the dvd files to the ipod because:
The dvd tab in the ipod is locked (white out). I can see the white out: [X] do not update video files .
Since the dvd tab is locked out I cannot transfer the dvd files to the ipod. I used the latest verson of itune and ipod programs.

Cannot recover 'file' please try opening it using the file menu

Hello,
we have had some issues with document corruption in inDesign, a user this morning received the following error:
Cannot recover 'filename.indd'. Please try to open it unsing the file menu.
The file 'filename.indd' has been changed since adobe inDesign last quit (Error code: 11)
When the user uses the file menu to open it it works fine
I have googled this message but not found any information on it.
Does anyone know what this means or how to resolve it? Does it give any clues as to why the users are having problems with documents getting corrupted.
