  • HP Envy m6 - getting error while recovery of my OS. Detect some error during PININST_BBV

I am receiving the following error while reinstalling my OS using the HP recovery Discs.
I get this window with no close button except for Save , Details or Retry.
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : Detect some error during PININST_BBV.
    [ 2:37:49.82] ChkErrBB.CMD : Check c:\system.sav\logs\BurnBootWarn.log

(The two .LOG files do not exist on the C: partition which is there.)
My hard disk has crashed, so I used a new one [1 TB] which is bigger in size from the factory installed 750GB.
I did all the tests by pressing F2 - system diagnostics. All system tests have passed.
Please help me with the solution, as I need my laptop running ASAP, but the recovery is giving problems.
I did other procedures to reset the Boot options to Factory defaults using F9. IT didnt help me.
It keeps throwing the same error.

I have tried all the suggestions to change the BIOS date from year 2013 to 2012.  The recovery CD's shipped from HP automatically changes the date to 8/27/2012.  I can't help it.
I bought another new HDD with size 750 GB similar to the facotory shipped HDD.  Did the start-up test again. Everything passed.  But, in the recovery, I still have no luck.
I reordered the Recovery discs from HP which had the application repair disc as well. I used all the 4 recovery discs , and the system ran for almost 2.5 hours and gave the same Error  PININST_BBV  , BurnbootWan.log and other one.
Can anybody help to resolve my recovery issue ASAP. the model is HP envy m6-1188ca.

  • Envy Ultrabook 6 Problem with recovery after hard drive failure (out of warranty)

    Hi
Please can someone tell me if it is true that to use HP factory recovery discs, the computer hardware has to be the exact same as when bought.
After wasted hours of trying to get recovery discs to work, I end up with the same 'Recovery failed@ screen and some unhelpful lines of code.
From reading various posts it appears that I have to have an HP replacment HDD of the same type as came with the computer. If this is the case, then the links on the support pages should say this before I shell out £39 for a set of discs.
To me a hard drive is a hard drive. I replaced a fried hard drive (1 month outside of warranty end) with a good brand replacement, but larger size. The discs will not load.
However I was able to load W7 form an iso file and get that to work. I need the recovery because I do not know how to set up the raid that allows quick boot on this laptop, and I don't have the time or any furhter inclination to get it to work.
Partly a rant, sorry, but am I right and is there any solution?

    Hi !
From what I have read here, YES you can recover with a different(non-HP) harddrive. It just has to be the SAME size or bigger.
I would make sure that the laptop BIOS sees the new drive and set boot options to DVD in BIOS.
I don't have access to detailed instructions, but you can foun them here in this forum.

  • Setting Stereo Mix to default recording device on Windows 8 HP Envy Ultrabook Kills Speakers

When I try setting Stero Mix to be my default recording device, the audio playback always cuts off after about 5-10 seconds or so. When it cuts off it doesn't sound good - it sounds like my speakers fry themselves to a quick and painful death if you can imagine that sound (ok, maybe i'm exagerrating).
Sometimes I have to reboot in order to hear any audio again on this ultrabook. Other times the audio will come back on its own after some time (it may always comes back over time, but most times i'm impatient so I reboot).
Is anyone else with my config able to set Stereo Mix to be the default recordgin and still retain a workable playback device? Anything else I can try?
I have the HP Envy Ultrabook laptop with Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
    Thanks,

I have since discovered stereo mix works when the laptop is plugged in. If it's unplugged it still will not work even though the setting "continue using while on battery power" is checked in the properties. If this is by-design I suppose I can live with this.

  • HP ToolboxFX has encountered an error and cannot recover (HP Laserjet M1536dnf MFP)

We have an HP Laserjet M1536dnf MFP.  Just starting receiving an error with the HP ToolboxFx on Windows 7 32 bit start-up.  We can scan and the printer test prints, but it says the HP Toolbox has encountered an error and cannot recover.  Please restart the HP Toolbox FX...or...toolbox version 006.15.01163.  In toolbox screen, it says cannot connect to device.
I have tried a number of things and read posts, but still no luck.  I can still scan, though.  Help?

    Hi,
Try installing the latest firmware of the printer, reboot both the printer and the PC and check for any difference:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=Im-86043-11&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
If that doesn't help, go to C:\HP Laserjet M1530 Basic Software\Utilities and follow the Scrubber.exe to uninstall the software (it may vary and may be named similar as NTScrubber for example).
Reboot your PC, go to Drive C and remove the M1530 Basic Software folder, then download and install the latest software below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=Im-86005-3&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...

  • "Cannot recover" Error when opening InDesign doc

We are a Server 2008 w/ XP/SP3 client environment. I have a user that opens an InDesign doc located on a shared network drive, does some work on it, and closes it. When the next person opens it, they get this error: "Cannot recover <<filename>>.indd. Please try to open it using the File menu. The file <<filename>>.indd has been changed since Adobe InDesign last quit (Error code: 11). They can click "OK" to this. The next window that pops up has an error: This document contains links to missing or modified files. Click Fix Links Automatically to have InDesign update this document with the modified files and help you locate missing files..." there's more about using the links panel, etc. They click "don't fix" and the document opens. To the best of my knowledge it is happening on just one file.
I'm pretty sure the second error is because we recently took a server off-line that some of the links had been pointing to; I've informed my users they need to update the links in the files. It's the first error I'm wondering about. The first user I mention at the beginning has been having *tons* of trouble with InDesign the last week or so. It locks up, freezes panes, and needs to be ended through task manager. It's been unbearable for both her and myself trying to figure out what's wrong. My hurdle is that I don't use the software at all but I'm in IT support so so I'm in charge of troubleshooting but not sure where to begin.
Can someone please help with the error we are receiving and also, provide some suggestions on how I can troubleshoot the performance issues?
    Her system specs:
    XP2002/SP3
    3GB RAM
    P4 2.8GHz proc.
Not sure on the graphics card but can retrieve it will be helpful. User does use dual monitors.
    TIA!

Reinstalling won't necessarily fix the kinds of problems you are having since they may have nothing to do with the application itself. I woud uninstall first, whenever possible, and immediately run any updates. Changing the preferences would be more productive as a first step though. Prefs are not automatically replaced on a new installation, either -- it depends on what option you chose during the uninstall.
    For your questions:
    1) When a file is opened, ID write a file with the extension .idlk in the same directory. This file tells any instance of ID that the file is already open and in use and prevents multiple users form having simultaneous access. It may or may not be deleted (usually not) during a crash scenario.
    2) Generally speaking it is not possible for mere mortals to recover a corrupt ID file. Tommy Donovan at Adobe is collecting them for study, but makes no promise of recovery. The folks at Markzware say they have some luck using their ID2Q plugin for Quark Xpress to open and save as a Quark file, then going back the other way using Q2ID to convert back. They might do a on-off for a small fee.
    3) Go to the link in the previous response, and scroll down to the part about repalcing preferences. Editing the prefs in the edit menu is not the same as replcing them with a new set. The files that need to be replaced are InDesign Defaults and InDesign SavedData.
    4) If there is something wrong on User 1's system that is corrupting the file, it would show up when User 2 opens it. Export the file to Interchange format (.inx), then open that file and save as a new .indd file. That can often clean up minor problems (i.e. those not serious enough to keep the file from opening at all).

Is there some kind of timeline that I can expect 8.1 to ship in?
I appreciate being informed that this is a known issue and all, but without giving me a timeframe to expect a fix in, how can you possibly expect me to continue to pursue your products as viable options?
To tell me to wait for 8.1, without giving me a timeframe or any further details is simply put in one word. Amatuer.
What kind of response is this? What am I supposed to tell my supervisor? How am I supposed to explain to upper management that the application server they're telling us to use is incapable of handling the use cases our business functions require? What do you want me to do, tell them to wait for the next release without being able to give them a ballpark figure? We're a small team, us Java guys. We've already invested months is moving to a new platform. Now that platform is failing us, and the vendor hasn't got any better response than, "Oh yeah, our bad. We'll fix it next time... whenever that is..."
If 8.1 is as half-baked as 8.0 is (BTW your deploytool is a broken piece of junk. I can reliably crash the thing in under 10 seconds) then I don't have a lot of hope for 8.1. You can bet I sure as heck won't be holding my breath for it.
Looks like it's time to investigate the other vendors that support J2EE 1.4. Something tells me I'll have better luck with WebSphere. The hard part there will be selling managment on the idea. At least IBM is notoriously forward with their clients, even if they are expensive.
All I'm asking for now is a timeframe for 8.1. When can we expect it? If it's before I expect to -have- to have this stuff in production I may be able to wait... but at this point, I'm disgruntled enough to not bother.
Maybe we should investigate moving to .net. At least then when the vendor screws me I'll be expecting it.

Hello @FSport14 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having software issues.  I would like to help.
I would recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then suggest downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • CAN'T RECOVER MY HP Envy 14-1085eo! HELP

    Hi,
I have a HP Envy 14-1085eo (windows 7 - 64 bit) and it has suddenly crashed.
I have naturally tried to make a total recovery using my recovery disks but it has failed. I’ve done it several times and I get the same result: failed.
Also the F11 recovery button doesn’t work on the DOS page.
And now, I can’t even get into Windows at all, except for the recovery manager that doesn’t even work. So I am stuck on a dark page with fail messages.
I have enclosed some of the screen shots.
It says first: BOOTMGR is missing.
And nothing happens when I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Instead I restart the notebook using the Off/On button and then I press Esc
Then if I get to startup menu, none of the F buttons work.
NONE OF THE ABOVE F-buttons work except when I insert my recovery Disks
and then I get to the HP recovery manager in a Safe-mode-like state and I start inserting my Disks, one by one. Since HP didn't provide me any recovery disks, I had to make my own ones. I have a total of 4 disks
But when I get to the last disk, the recovery FAILS and I get the following message: Error code 0xe0f00013
And the warranty has expired. I would like to fix this issue because this HP Envy of mine was expensive and is still supposedly a high performance Notebook. I have called HP support but was nonchalantly asked to look for help in this forum.
So I hope someone here knows how I can solve this issue ?
I have a new Ultrabook now (Thank God!) and it is NOT Hp. I am very disappointed at HP's warranty policy and their support. Hopefully someone, might share some of their experiences with HP's Recovery failing recovery system?
I would like to recover everything on my PC, as a factory recovery and it doesn't work either. I want to recover the OS win 7 as well, but I also get the same error message "0xe0f00013".
Tack you for advance for your help.

    Supports 6.35-cm (2.5-in) hard drives (HD) and solid-state drives (SSD), 12.5-mm (.49-in) and 9.5-
mm (.37-in) thicknesses SATA hard drives.
That means you can purchase just about any notebook (mobile) SATA hard disk or SSD.  Install it  put an operating system with the appropriate drivers and you will be back in business.
The following video shows how to disassemble an Envy 14. In the first thirty seconds you will see how to remove the hard disk.  Use a screwdriver instead of a power driver to lessen te chances of damaging your notebook.

    Hi @maryamis ,
I see that you found the work around and it does resolve the issue until you restart your notebook.
First I would delete the driver not just uninstalling it.  If you uninstall the driver it remains in the system so when you restart Windows will automatically locate and reinstall it.  If you delete the driver it is no longer available for Windows to install on a restart.
To prevent Windows from updating the driver again you will  most likely need to change your update settings, if you have ti set to automaticall install all updates.   To do this,
    Go to the control panel
    Select System and  Security
Under Windows updates  click turn auto updates on or off
Select Download updates but let me choose whether to install them
    Click OK and exit.
You will need to periodically manually check to see if this issue has been resolved.
    Good Luck!

  • Error Message in PSE 12. Cannot complete request due to a Program Error

    Hi,
I have just bought Photoshop Elements 12 and have checked for updates. All ok. My laptop meets the system requirements. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. There is stacks of room on the dedicated hard drive I use for Elements. I use a Nikon 7100. When I am editing my RAW images sometimes everything is fine with the edit completed and saved as designed. At other times I do my editing, click on "open image" and I get an error message that my request cannot be completed because of a program error. The only thing I can do to get editing again is to re-start Elements. Sometimes I get the error message at my first edit and at other times on my second, after a successful first save.
I'd be grateful for any ideas as to why I'm getting this message and what I need to do to fix it.
    Thanks.

Well it could be dead forever or you might just need some simple repairs. The problem i have seen in some is that when dropped the hard drive either comes loose (easy to fix) or gets killed (little more expensive).
There could be other problems but i have seen those problems more often than something drastic like the whole board dieing.
