Cannot redownload Moutain lion installer after a corruptd intaller failed to install.

Hi All,
I'm trying to upgrade to Mountain lion from Lion (10.7.4)
Here is what I have done so far.
I downloaded Mountain Lion but the corrupted installer failed to install.
It suggested to delete the copy and go to puchases on App store and redownload it.
But the App store's "downloaded" button did not change to "install" after moving the installer app to trash.
So I emptied the trash and restarted my macbook and went to App store.
This time, it showed "Buy App" button instead of "Downloaded" so I clicked it and it said I purchased the OS and suggested to redownload after clicking "ok" to the  popup.
It started downloading but finished it in 2 seconds without actually downloading and installing and then the button goes to "installed" on purchases on App store.
What am I supposed to do? How do I redownload the OS and install it.
Please help.
Young

I talked to the technical support at Apple and he couldn't figure it out either.
I keep seeing downloading finishes in a second and the button changes to "downloaded".
I see OS X Mountain Lion icon at Lauchpad with progress bar showing full and just hanging there.
Update
I'm noticing after some minutes I see it silently completes downloading and 4.31 GB installer is put into Applications folder. Then it starts installation but I get the following error msg.
"This copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion.app application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading."
I'm not so sure whether the downloaded installer is actually 4.31GB long file because downloading seems taking less than 10 minutes which I think is too short to download the whole thing even at my work with fast internet speed.
Any new ideas?

  • Installation failed installation completed through some components failed to instal correctly

Hello i've been really exited to donload photoshop and so i decided to try the free version i downloaded creative cloud and went into th eapps and click on photoshop try it free i waited a few 30 mins and it stopped and told me this
installation failed installation completed through some components failed to instal correctly.
and then i was like whatttt?!?!?!?!?
so I decided to come here and ask why this is happening please answer ASAP I really need photoshop for important stuff!!!

Try restarting your computer, then try again. Awhile back, some of the apps which I think included photoshop require the microsoft runtime to be updated. That runtime requires a restart to finish installing. But since it is a piggyback program, the error code telling you do so is hidden in the log file.
If it still does not install let us know.

  • I am having major problems installing Mountain Lion.  After downloading successfully and attempting to install the process froze after restarting - ended up hanging on the OSX Recovery screen. Wouldn't restart properly without me selecting a startup disc.

Three times I went through this same process for the same outcome. I have redownloaded Mountian Lion three times. I removed the Lion install package from the Applications folder in case this was causing a problem. Deleted and remounted the Mountain Lion package each time. Finally got the package to run through the install, restart and begin the file install - at the end it failed and I was left with a blank startup disc and no data. I have backed up. Through the OSX Recovery screen I selected a Lion reinstall - checked my credential against the app store -fine. But then failed on the reinstall.  Now doing a recovery from current backup but wondering the **** is going on. Wasted over 24 hours of processor time.

In case anyone is still interested in this thread.  I called Adobe tech support and they were able to help me finally get CS3 installed.  The steps I took were kind of messed up because I'd try something and it still wouldn't work and then I'd try something else.  But I think the following was the magic combination that finally worked.  I don't know if this would help anyone else but it worked for me...
I uninstalled all the previously installed CS3 components.  In fact, I uninstalled everything that started with the word "Adobe" on my computer, even Flash Player, just for good measure.
Then I ran the Adobe cleanup script at level 2
I downloaded the script from here...
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
I went into the "computer" window and set it up to show hidden folders.  Click Organize->Folder and Search Options->View. Then click "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
Then I went into C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\Adobe and moved all the files in there to a folder on my desktop so there was nothing left in the Adobe folder (I don't think it wouldn't let me move some of the Acrobat files so the tech support guy said to just leave them)
I did the same thing for C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe and moved all those files to a folder on my desktop
Then I deleted all the files from C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roadming\Adobe
I think I ran the cleanup script one more time just for the heck of it.
Next I went to the start menu and on the "Start Search" line I typed "msconfig."  When the system configuration window came up, I went to the "services" tab and checked "Hide All Microsoft Services"  Then I checked "Disable All"  So that disabled everything that wasn't a MicroSoft service.  Then I went to the "Startup" tab and checked "Disable All" and restarted the computer.
Then I went ahead and installed everything fresh off the CS3 DVD and it worked the first time.  No more 1310 errors with the Config.Msi directory.
    Hope this helps someone else.
    Good luck!
    Jenn

  • Cannot run Oracle XE installer after downloading

I've tried the download on two different machines with both IExporer and Firefox browsers. Get the same message: Error reading setup initialization file.

    Hello,
I ran into the same problem. As written in http://support.softartisans.com/kbview_971.aspx it seems to be a problem with the download itself!
The filesize of the downloaded file has not the same size as stated on the oracle page.
I tried it with different browsers, from different locations (home, office) without success.
Sometimes the download is finished with ~80MB, sometimes already with 36MB.
Using a download manager (e.g. GetRight) solved the issue!

  • Rerunning installer after glibc2.1 patch fails

I followed the directions in ftp://ftp.oracle.com/pub/www/otn/linux/README to install the glibc2.1 patch for Oracle 8.05 on linux 6.2. Everything is great expect for step 4. It says to run the installer again and pick create/upgrade database objects. All this does is send me to the add/remove software screen, and my only choice is to exit. It never sets up the database. Any ideas? Do I need to build the database by hand?

Try to disable the option to start Adobe Bridge at login:
In Bridge CS5 or CS4, choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Adobe BridgeCS5 or CS4 > Preferences (Mac OS).
    Choose Advanced.
    Deselect Start Bridge At Login.

mini calendar in mail missing after Lion installation

    >After installing Lion (intel I-Mac 2g ram). My Microsoft Office 2004 no longer runs.
Upgrade to a Universal compatible version of Office or equivalent.  http://www.neooffice.org/ is the least expensive alternative, though importing Entourage into iCal, Mac OS X Mail, and Addressbook works best if the data was exported from Entourage while still in Snow Leopard.
    >Also, when I select "printer friendly" pages in Safari or Firefox, I get a "missing plugin" message.
When you upgraded, did you make sure that Safari was installed in the Applications folder?  If not, you may have to redownload Safari from http://www.apple.com/safari/ as it happens to be the same version.  Firefox double check is already Lion compatible.  For more on upgrading to Lion, see my FAQ*:

  • Where can I find my mountain lion installer included with 2012 mac mini

I just bought a 2012 mac mini and I want to install mountain lion on an SSD that I bought separately.  Where can I find the mountain lion installer file to create a bootable USB install drive?  When I go to the mac app store, mountain lion is not listed in my purchases and when I try to buy it, it says "We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer."  It's already installed on the mac mini, I just need the installer file so I can install it on my SSD.

You might be able to simply boot into the ML Recovery HD, select Reinstall OS X and point to your SSD drive. You won't capture the InstallESD.dmg file to create a USB thumb drive installer.
OR.... to create a USB thumb drive of your pre installed ML, you would need to redownload Mountain Lion then grab the InstallESD.dmg file and create your USB thumb drive. Here is how I've done it using Internet Recovery to get my pre installed OS X.
Attach a USB external drive to your system. Formated as Mac OS Extended (Journal) and GUID partition table.
Restart using Command+R+Option to boot into Apple's Recovery HD. This will get you the original version. Or just Command+R to boot into your ML Recovery HD.
Select Reinstall OS X from the OS X Utilities menu.
You will  have to watch the download. After it completes and your system restarts, at the black screen disconnect the external USB drive.
After you are back to your current desktop, insert the external USB drive. There should be a single folder on the drive called 'Install Data' (I think). Find the InstallESD.dmg file and copy it to a folder on your current system (Downloads, for example).
Follow any of the internet instructions to create a ML USB thumb drive.
I tried this method, and while it did get me the installer image, when I restored it to an external and tried to use it to restore a Late 2012 Mac Mini, I got the same "No" symbol I did with other ML installers.
Here are some screenshots of what was loaded onto my external before I yanked it, when the screen turned black durring the restart. The highlighted file is what I restored to my external to use to restore the Mac Mini.

  • Pressed 'Install Lion' on existing copy of lion and the new Lion Installation started. I have cancelled it. Now, will it reformat (and so remove) all the files or will it replace the lion files only, leaving my files alone if I continue?

    Hi
I wanted to reinstall the existing copy of lion on my Macbook Pro, leaving my files alone. So I started the Lion Installation and I thought that after the mac reboots, the window will pop-out asking what I want to do. It didn't however and it started new lion installation after which I immediately aborted it. My question is: Will my files stay untouched if I carry on installing?
Thanks for the answers in advance.

The Lion installer won't ask you if you want to repair. If you boot into the Recovery HD you can then select to reinstall Lion, which willl reinstall the Lion files but leave your Home folder alone. If you want a clean install, then from the Recovery you can open Disk Utility to wipe the Lion partition and then use the transfer function to retrieve your data from your Time Machine backup.

  • Mountain lion installation fail problem

My hard drive failed yesterday and I have been unable to restore to a new hard drive from time capsule due to the screen saver crashing the restore.
I managed to get snow leopard onto it from my old disc, I then redownloaded mountain lion from purchases and have been trying to install from that.
It goes from time remaining 37 minutes to minus 3 hours
The only way out is to hold the power button down and then restart
This then starts the installation process over at 37 mins and 4 hours later its at -3hours
It was devastating enough that time capsule was unablel to restore my system but now the fact I can't even get ML back on the machine has made me want to put it in a skip.
Can anyone suggest a solution or am I doomed to this infinite loop of installation despair forever?

You might have a corrupted install package. Download another version. If that also faile, contact the MAS, since they're responsible for this atrociaous delivery system.

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for.  Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.

  • I own a late 2009 Macbook Pro, and it keeps freezing after OSX Lion installation.

I own a late 2009 Macbook Pro, and it keeps freezing after OSX Lion installation.  I will post my computer's 'specs' below.  I installed Lion, from Snow Leopard, through the App store.  The first week, it worked like a dream, and was loving my brand new computer, or so it seemed.  I then began to run into problems, and I can't confirm this 100%, but I believe it was after I updated from 10.7.1, to 10.7.2.
The freezes are sporatic at best, and cannot be narrowed down to one app.  I googled the issue about two weeks ago, and found a fix involving a temporary log-in, verifying the disk, restarting the computer holding CMD+R, and repairing the disk from there.  That fixed the problem.  For about three or four days.  From there I brought my laptop to Best Buy, where I purchased the computer (start the groans, my dad wanted the accidental damage, and he was paying, there was no argument).  My warranty there was still good, but all they were offering was to check my hard-drive, and possibly ship it out.  That would not be good for me, as I am a High School student, who works online.
So I then decided to go to the Apple store, see what they said.  They said a bunch of people had this problem, it would cost a lot to fix, as I would need a new Logic Board.  This did not make any sense to me, as I knew it was Lion's fault, so why would they not make the L-2009MBP Logic Board compatible, and why are only a few people having this problem, well a lot more than a few, but I mean not everyone.
So I asked a friend about it, and we decided to run a back up, and erase the computer, and re-install Lion.  Figuring maybe my data was corrupted during install.  This helped for a day or two, and happened again.  So this time, we backed up only files (music, pics, documents, etc.,) and did a fresh install.  I got my computer back last night.  Now, I am not saying that didn't help.  Previously I would have frozen about 18 times well writing this, but I have not frozen once (hopefully I didn't just jinx myself).  I have gone from about one freeze every 10-15 minutes (sometimes worse), to about one every 1-3 hours.  Which, let's be honest is still a lot.
So, before I just decide to go and revert to Snow Leopard on my merry way, I ask, do any of you have any other ideas?  Or guarenteed fixes?  I know a guarentee is a hard thing to ask for, but I am desperate, my teachers are getting angry with me for not sending work, and I know this would help a lot of people.  Thank you to those who read through my whole spiel, and thank you to those who will help me!
[Ps, while I am somewhat of a noob, I know my way around a computer, so any help, or knowledge you could bestow upon me is awesome.  Especially DIY fixes.  (if your only advice is, don't buy a mac at Best Buy, don't bother commenting)]

Once it is downloaded you need to restart the computer if it does not restart automatically. When it next starts up you should note a progress bar appearing below the Apple logo. When done the computer will restart once more. The new firmware should now be installed.
