Cannot reinstall Adobe Flash Player on Macbook OSX 10.5.8

I was trying to watch videos on facebook but I was unable to due to the fact that it said that adobe flash player was out of date.  I therefore uninstalled adobe flash player and tried to reinstall it from adobe's website.  When I try to reinstall it, the icon bounces at the bottom of the page but does not open.  Everytime I have done this, it says the "application not responding".  Does anyone have any idea what is going on, and if anyone has an answer to this problem?

FlashPlayer can be difficult ot updates. In the document below some of the files specifics  will not apply to your computer, but the general procedure probably applies.
*Flash Player for PPC Macs*
Adobe's last release of Flash Player for PPC Macs was in November, 2010 with release 10.1.102.64 Subsequent releases are for Intel based Macs only.
To check your installed version of FlashPlayer - http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about
Download the version you need from Adobe.
To install:
1) Run Disk Utility and verify your hard drive.  If the hard drive reports errors then it will need repairing first (another topic).  If it verifies, run Disk Utility's repair permissions.
2) Back up your hard drive, ideally to a bootable clone. A bootable clone will allow you to restore your hard drive to its original state should something go wrong.
3) Quit all applications to ensure nothing is actively using Flash. You can even do the next step while booted to Safe Mode to make sure.

[Safe Boot takes longer than normal startup|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107394]
4) Run the uninstaller application. Adobe says, "Adobe recommends that you restart your computer before you install a different version of the player."
5) Run the installer application from the .dmg file you got from the second download.
6) Use Disk Utility to repair permissions on your computer. this is important when installing anything from Adobe.
7) Restart your computer.

  • Install Adobe Flash Player on MacBook Air

I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player on MacBook Air and it stops at 98% stating that it needs to to close Safari browser, I close it and still it does not fully install it.

You need to close the Safari process, not only the browser window.
If you don't know how to do that, restart your Mac, then run the downloaded installer before doing anything else.

  • Cannot load Adobe Flash Player.  Can't view u-tube etc.

Cannot load Adobe Flash PLayer.  I get "blocked-plugin" message.

MSN is the Microsoft Network (fun fact: I was a Microsoft Network technical support rep. back in 1996, before 56k modems were a thing.).  The MSN browser is really Internet Explorer under the hood.
Firefox and Internet Explorer user different versions of Flash Player.  You have to install one for each browser.
Using MSN or Internet Explorer, go here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
    Follow the prompts
    Everything should work after that

  • Should i install adobe flash player on macbook pro with OSX

Just purchased my first macbook pro, I am thinking of installing Adobe Flash Player but wasnt sure if this is good idea or not. Any suggestions?

Sure - most of the content on YouTube - and much of the video content on the web - uses Flash technology.
Just make certain that you get it straight from Adobe -> http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.
    Happy computing!

Hello sunnyskoolof13, Below is some information on the brccmctl file you list. You must have a Brother printer of other Brother device.
brccmctl.exe is a process from Brother Industries, Ltd.. It can be found in the location of C:\Program Files\brother\controlcenter3.
brccmctl.exe is a potential security risk which can be modified maliciously by spyware.
brccmctl.exe should be disabled and removed, if it was attacked and brought you brccmctl.exe error.
Just go to the Control Panel, Programs and Features, ( if using Windows 7) If using Windows XP, go to Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs, and locate and remove this application.
If your Brother Device stops working, you may need to reinstall the application.
Please click the White Kudos star on the left, to say thanks.
Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem.

  • Cannot enable Adobe Flash Player

I have Windows 8.1 64-bit with Internet Explorer 11. I am trying to get the flash player working, but not of the expert's videos or tips seem to work. I have installed,  enabled the flash player through the "manage add-ons", inactivated ActiveX, but the Adobe website says that I still need to enable my flash player. How can I get it working? I have also uninstalled any Adobe products I have and reinstalled them. Also, with Internet Explorer 11, it very inconveniently says that I am up to date on any adobe flash players and it will not allow me to install the flash player. Help please

    Hi,
Microsoft embeds Flash Player in Internet Explorer on Windows 8.x and it cannot be installed separately on this OS.  The only Flash Player that can be installed on Windows 8.x is the Plugin for non-IE browsers.
Aside from enabling Flash Player in the browser, have you tried the other two troubleshooting steps listed here, Flash Player Issues | Windows 8?
When you go to this page, Adobe - Flash Player do you see the Flash animation at the top of the page? If so, what version is detected as being installed in the 'Version Information' widget?  The latest Flash Player version for IE is 15.0.0.167.  If that's not the version listed, please run Windows Update to get the latest version of Internet Explorer or use the link at the bottom of the Flash Player Issues | Windows 8 page.

  • I cannot download adobe flash player to my comuter

This problem has been occurring and reoccurring since November 2012, I receive a message on my desktop stating that I need to update my adobe flash player. I click to do this and am transported to the adobe flash player download site. I click the "download now" tab and receive the download instructions page. When the popup window appears I select "save file" as instructed. I am then transported to the Firefox download list where I double click the flash player install highlighted in blue. The next pop up window asks if I want to "run file". I click "run file" and nothing happens. (alternatively I get a pop up window that asks me to continue if I am the administrator and I click "continue" and nothing happens) The pop up windows previously mentioned list the source of the download as C:/users/"my name"/downloads and when I click "details" it says (sic) C:/users/"my name"/ downloads remove C:/file/users etc. Sometimes I will get a message saying file cannot be found at C:/users etc. Of course not, because the file is in firefox downloads and not in my user download file. Is there a way to fix this? The flash player is not listed under firefox plugins so I cannot disable it or change it. Incidentally, other download files for updates etc are working without issues, I did have to disable the adobe reader plug in so that I can view PDF files on other internet sites. I have Vista sP2 on Dell XPS 420 with Firfox version 18.01

You actually have the most Recent Flash player, so I'm not sure why you are getting a notice. Try to Reset Firefox [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]

  • Cannot run adobe flash player on windows 8.1 pro with IE 11

this is very frustrating and I have research multiple Q&A on this forum with no resolution.
When I try to run adobe flash player I get the error:
Either Flash Player is disabled or ActiveX Filter is ON.
Please follow trouble shooting steps to play Flash content.
I have gone through the steps to attempt to resolve this as indicated on the adobe site and it is not resolved
    Enable Flash Player
    Disable ActiveX Filtering
Update Internet Explorer to get latest version of Flash Player
    I have removed and re-added IE 11.
I have been trying to research this for days and have hit a dead end.
    Any recommendations?

    @paula1228,
I'm sorry you're encountering issues with Flash Player on Windows 8.1 with Internet Explorer 11.  There is a new Flash Player update available today.  The new update should be available from the link at the bottom of the Flash Player Issues | Windows 8 page.  You can also run Windows Update from the Control Panel to obtain the latest update (KB2974008).  If the latest update doesn't display, install all available updates and then check for updates again.
    @NerdyWasabi,
Microsoft embeds Flash Player in Internet Explorer on Windows 8.x.  Users cannot install Flash Player for Internet Explorer on their own.  They must install the Internet Explorer Update for Flash Player to update Flash Player on Windows 8.x

  • Sick and tired of having to reinstall Adobe Flash Player everytime I restart my computer.

I'm running the Latest Flash player 11.2on Windows 7 64bit with IE 9 and McAfee antivirus and this problem has been going on for at least a year. I keep hoping that a new version of flash player will solve the problem but after a year I am just sick of problems with Flash. (I hate Steve Jobs but I'm beginning to share his view of Flash.) Every time I start my laptop I have to reinstall Flash to view any videos or flash content on the web. I always get a message that I need to update my flash player and I have already updated it a million times. After I update it works until I restart the machine. I searched for solutions on Google, Adobe Forum and tried all the different suggestions but the problem continues. I've tried using other Antivirus programs but the problem continues. It doesn't matter if I use the 32 bit or 64 bit IE. It's always the same problem. Why can't Adobe find a solution to this problem? People have been complaining about the problem since Flash Player 9. I've experienced the problem since Flash player 10. I'm wondering if Adobe is doing it intentionally just to increase the number of downloads for the Adobe Flash player and every time I have to deselect the stupid Google bar. Maybe Adobe is just trying to make more money off Google by forcing me to reinstall two or three times a day?

Sorry, I should have explained more.  You do indeed want to use the 64 bit installer, it's just that this installer actually installs both the 32 and 64-bit versions of Flash Player.  The 32 bit version of Flash Player is kept in the syswow64\macromed\flash folder and the 64 bit version is in system32\macromed\flash.
I'm a bit concerned that this might not help, given that you see the same behavior for both 32 and 64 bit versions of IE, but doing a clean install can't hurt and should hopefully fix the install log issue I see in the reports you sent me.
If you can, please generate another set of logs after doing the uninstall and folder/file deletions.

  • How to download adobe flash player onto MacBook pro

Hi, can anyone tell me how to download adobe flash player onto my new MacBook Pro with retina display please?
I don't know what operating system it has?

If you've a new Retina display MacBook Pro, it probably shipped with Mavericks - you can confirm this by going to the Apple on the menu bar and selecting "About This Mac...." if it says system 10.9 or 10.9.1, you're on Mavericks.
To install Flash Player, you must first download it from Adobe -> http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. After the download is complete, you should have a file with a .dmg extension in your Downloads folder. Double-click this file and it will 'mount' as if it is a disk. There will be a 'package' inside and you must double-click this to actually install Flash Player.
Once Flash Player is installed, restart your computer and then open your browser. You should now be able to view Flash content.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
