Cannot reload WLan Atheros AR5007EG on Satellite L350D

I am using a Satellite L350D model PSLE8E-038002BT.
As I had a network problem (I regularly lose contact with the DNS server), I suspected the driver atheros-wlan-win7-9204190 which I had recently installed to be the cause. I wanted to go back to the version atheros-wlan-win7-8002580 which had ran successfully on my PC for quite a while.
So I went to Device management, chose for Network adapters where I selected the Ahteros wireless. Selecting properties and device drivers I tried to reload the old version. As the old driver was not saved at this location I used the TC00190600I.exe file from the zip file received using Tempro. Unfortunately, the Atheros loader refused to overwrite a new version by an old one. As a result I decided to remove the driver, which also removed the Atheros device from the system.
I recovered the device by starting the TC00190600I.exe again. But the connection to the router does not come up. The icon at the bottom of the screen indicating connectivity says : Not connected, there are no connections available. The windows network control mentions Possibly there is a problem with the device driver for your wireless network adapter connection.
Note that some texts or names mentioned above cannot be accurate. I translated them as I use a Dutch windows version.
Thanks for any help or advice.

I dont know what are you doing exactly and how you have installed all these updates.
If you are 100% sure that this problem has nothing to do with your router install original recovery image and test functionality. If everything works properly with factory settings than you will know for sure that WLAN card is working properly and it is not hardware related issue.
BTW: few days ago I had strange problem on my old A300 (Win7 32bit). Suddenly notebook could not establish connection to my WLAN router. Router was visible, password correct but nothing. Ive tried everything but nothing helps.
At least i have restarted router and suddenly everything was OK. Why?

Can not use wireless connection. While using "Config Free" to find wireless device the popup 'this connection is controlled by other software'. I do not know what it means and which software controls the connection. I have other laptop which is duly connected by wireless connection. I am ok with wired connection.
I do not know much about technicalities and thus seek help if any reader can.

    >Can not use wireless connection. While using "Config Free" to find wireless device the popup 'this connection is controlled by other software'
You should not use the ConfigFree for the Wlan configuration but either the own Vista configuration options or the WLan configuration tool like Intel ProSet Utility or Atheros Clint Utility. It depends on the WLan card what utility can be used.
Intel card -> Intel ProSet Utility; Atheros WLan card -> Atheros Clint Utility
I assume the message +this connection is controlled by other software+ appears because one of the options mentioned above controls the WLan.

  • Cannot establish WLAN connection on my Satellite P100-10P

Few days ago I bought Satellite P100-10P:
    - Model No. PSPAGE-01CO1LG3
    - Serial number: 47069869W which came with Vista Home Premium OS.
I've removed Vista because of some incompatibility problems with some software. Everything works fine except my wireless. Wireless card is Intel 3945ABG and I've downloaded latest drivers as the latest software for it, but still I'm not able to connect to any wireless. I just keep getting message "unable to connect".
Tried to work only on B or G or B/G, changed channels, registered it on MAC filters as in DHCP server, tried to use Windows Zero configuration, but still don't get any results. Please help me with this problem. I would be very grateful.
Wireless routers on which I tried to log were: SIEMENS SE555 and DLINK DSLG684T.
    Please help.

    Hi,
So, you cant connect to no one of the routers you have?? Thats strange, and you said you tried everything.
Did you already tried to establish a Ad-hoc connection to another computer to see if its working? Do you use the Configfree utility from toshiba to connect to another devices or just the windows utility.
Another suggestion is to reset a router and set EVERYTHING to default. The same on your machine and dont set some WEP/WPA or MAC-filtering.
Just pure and unsecured connection over DHCP which MUST work.
Would appreciate some feedback from you.

  • Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter - With any driver: "The device instance name is invalid"

    Hello there,
I was trying to install various "Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter" drivers, with versions ranging from 2007 to 2010, both from the manufacturer and specifically for this computer (a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile) and others from here:
    http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=22&system=3
All of them are for Windows Vista 32bit.
The computer had previous drivers installed and working, but also had a network problem. In the process of figuring out what was causing it, I tried to install newer drivers to see if that was the problem. It turns out the network problem was due to a different
thing that is now fixed (some dependencies of the WLAN Configuration service were turned off), but I'm still stuck installing the new drivers.
    TL;DR:
However, every time I install new drivers, after install, Windows says that
"The device instance name is invalid", regardless of what drivers I install. I even tried to install drivers for different hardware in that slot just to see what it told me and IT STILL gave me the same error. I also tried to uninstall the
current driver, checking the box to delete the driver's software, running CCleaner and then deleting
"athr.sys" from the Windows/Drivers folder and
"oem8.inf" from Windows/Inf as those files were referenced in the driver's properties. The install still gives me the same error.
The fact that it gives me this error with any driver leads me to believe it's Windows' fault and not the driver's.
Note: I am translating from the original in Portuguese. "The device instance name is invalid" is the closest/correct translation and seems about right with the info I find online regarding the english version of Vista and how it refers to devices.
This (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/microsoft.public.development.device.drivers/yFa_XnlcLJQ) and this (http://finderr.net/windows/pt-PT/O-nome-da-inst%C3%A2ncia-do-dispositivo-%C3%A9-inv%C3%A1lido-/2082573452) also seems to confirm that, though it
doesn't help me. It may be that the text is actually different in english Vista but I also searched for driver instead of device or stuff like "The device instance name appears to be invalid" and can't find anything either.
I also did SFC /SCANNOW a while ago and it found no errors.  I then repeated it again after this problem and this time, SFC found errors BUT it couldn't repair all of them. Here is the CBS log:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/bayum2rsezxpmre/CBS.log
    Thank you for the help!
EDIT: The Notebook model is a Fujitsu-Siemens ESPRIMO Mobile V5535 and their support drivers can be found here (after specifying the OS and model):
    http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/download/ShowFiles.asp
    EDIT2:
The last SFC /scannow scan repaired everything left to repair. The system restore option can't be used because the earliest one still has the (suposedly faulty) drivers installed.
This computer has a Win Vista serial number, but no CD and the second partition doesn't have any kind of backup. The second partition is empty though. So, as a last resort, if I really don't have a choice, I'll try to do an upgrade install to see if that fixes
it and if that still doesn't fix it I'll have to move everything in the users folder to the second partition and format the first which is a bummer :/
EDIT: Here is the setup.api.log that was inside C:\Windows\Inf and details the instalation process of all the drivers:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/tyxs1e4r7rxofch/setupapi.dev.log
I'm still trying to read into that setup.api.log file.

So, can I assume that the only way to fix this error is to download an iso of Windows Vista, unninstall my service packs, upgrade install Vista, run Vistalizator to change the language to Portuguese and then install Service Pack 1 & 2?
EDIT: Alright, so I formatted the thing since the driver bug wouldn't give me a break. The details on that can be found searching for the same thread title either on tomshardware or vistaforums if anyone happens to find this looking for the same error.
I have a real knack for bumping heads with errors that nobody else gets that somehow turn into unfixable bugs. At least if someone else searches for this problem they'll know what to do.

  • I need some XP drivers for Satellite L350D-110 PSLE8E

    Hello there.
I have now my brandnew Toshiba notebook. It comes only with VISTA, a very nice looking system.
But I want to use my notebook in our office too and then I need to install XP Professional.
XP is already installed, but i need some drivers to complete the system installation.
Here is screenshot from my hardware manager (hope it will work in this forum):
    http://img443.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screengmhv9.jpg
    Can anybody help me?
Or is there a chance to get a downgrade option from Toshiba?? Without a downgrade I cannot use my brandnew notebook.....

For the Satellite L350D and Windows XP there are all drivers available.
I think you forget to install two or more drivers.
    Here you can download it:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Search for your model and you will get a list of all drivers. Then you can compare which drivers you didnt install yet.
As Jeffrey said, I should be the AMD Processor Driver, Realtek driver and the card reader.

  • Satellite L350D-213 frquently overheats and turns off

    Hello
Recently been having trouble with my Toshiba Laptop Satellite L350D-213, it frquently overheats and turns off, any suggestions as to stop it overheating would be greatly appriciated

    Hi
There are a lot of advices regarding the overheating issue.
First of all the notebook shuts down automatically in order to prevent the hardware parts from damage the higher temperature could affect the parts and this is the reason why the notebook shuts down.
Why the temperature is too high?
Well, maybe the cooling modules dont run with best performance due to dust and debris inside the modules?
This is mostly the reason why the fans cannot rotate and cannot cool down the notebook.
I recommend checking this and to remove the dust and debris from cooling vents using compressed air spray.
I do this from time to time and it helps to keep the fans clean

  • Satellite L350D Works for a few minutes and then completely stop

    Hi all!
I am having a weird problem with my laptop Satellite L350D-216
I've used it for a long time in a row and starts to show some strange vertical lines at the screen and kind of loose focus and then it went completely black
Since then if I switch off and leave for a few hours it switches on normally and work for 5/10 minutes and goes black again.
It happens after I was working on it for about 20 hours straight or so (might be related)
    What i did tried:
-Switch on only with the battery
-Switch on only with the AC
-Take all off and hold off key for 1 min and then try again both above
When it does switch on everything seems to be working 100% without problem but doesnt last more then 10 minutes as I said
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Horwath and Pau Pau,
First of all thanks for trying to help.
This morning I've open the laptop and clean it the cooler completely (was full of dust) and it is now working full speed.
What I've noticed however is that the problem seems to be worsening. Today, even before the cleaning, when I switch on the computer after a whole night of i got the blank screen straight away. So I couldn't test it at BIOS as you guys ask me too, however yesterday, even before posting here, I've tried something similar and the black screen came after a few minutes as if i was using windows.
You think the GPU is faulty?
And, if the answer is yes, is it worthy/possible to replace? How much it would cost?
Any further test I could do to make sure the problem is at the GPU?
    Thanks again
    Amantino

Cannot open aperture v3 after upgrading to  OS 10.6.8.  Bought the upgrade online so cannot reload the software.  Can you help?

How did you buy it online? Did you buy a registration number from the Apple Store?
Then you can download the Trial version from this link:
        Aperture 3.1 Trial
and run Software Update immediately after installing.
Go to the Applications folder and delete Aperture.
    Download the Aperture 3.1 Trial.
Open the Aperture Trial disc image.
    Double-click the "Aperture Trial.mpkg" file.
Follow the onscreen instructions to install Aperture.
After the installation completes, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu.
Cannot open aperture v3 after upgrading to  OS 10.6.8.
But what exactly is the error you get, when you try to launch Aperture? Maybe you need to do more than updating.

  • Satellite L350D-213 - Updating drivers on Windows 7

Bought Satellite L350D-213 mid Nov. Pre-loaded with Winodws 7. System auto detect on Tosh site shows that whole batch of new Windows7 drivers issued on 3/12/09. Was wondering whether I need to install all these drivers.
Up to now only prob has been webcam "locked by another application" which hours of web searching showed to be very common prob. Downloaded latest webcam driver issued on 3rd Dec. Cam ok at moment but only time will tell. Is it advisable to go through the whole list of applicable drivers or leave things as they are. Don't want to cause uneccessary probs.
    Any advice welcome.

    Hello
Its nice to read that your webcam works properly now and this would be also my suggestion to update the driver regarding this issue.
However, if your computer runs properly now I dont see any reason to update any drivers. Why you should do this?
I think drivers are only released to solve problems on other notebooks or compatibility issues so if you dont have problems you must update nothing. I can recommend never change a running system! ;)
So have fun with your notebook dont bother about updating drivers.

Please and thank you for any and all help
    Mich

It means the device is in recovery mode.  You'll need to reconnect it to iTunes and restore it again.
You may need to connect it in recovery mode manually using the instructions in this Apple support document.

  • Re: Trying to install Win7 on Satellite L350D

    Hi guys
I have a Toshiba Satellite L350D and I am trying to install the Windows7 again cause the screen went black so I decided to format and install everything again but when its finishing the installation the laptop reboots but the screen continues black :(
    Any clews?
Can I do a BIOS update without having Windows working and should this sort it out my problem?
    Best regards
    Luis

If you have recovery disc you can install original image later. Now is important to have well working OS. For this purposes you can use Microsoft installation disc and later install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities from Toshiba support page. I have done this several times on different Toshiba notebooks and every time everything went well.
Back to your original question: it is not easy to say why the screen stays black. You know that after OS installation notebook may restart several times to finish OS installation and prepare desktop for the first use.
Maybe is some external device connected to your notebook? Please disconnect all connected stuff and try installation again.
Before you start it set BIOS to default settings. It must work somehow.
    Good luck.

    Hello there,
A few weeks ago I bought a new Toshiba laptop Satellite L350D-20F.
Does somebody recognize my problem with this laptop; a constant *very high peep tone* that causes headache?
It is not caused by loudspeakers but comes from the inside body of the laptop.
    What can I do?
    Thanks for any reply.

    hi Renate_1
try to mute mic and speakers
if the sound is still audible this could be a broken coil on mainboard.
this have to be repaired means new mainboard.
    consult a servicepartner.

  • Equium L40-10X: Atheros AR5007EG Adapter firmware upgrade

Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the firmware on the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter to be able to use WPA encryption as WEP is weak and easy to break?

Hi, i have a L40-100 with ar5007eg. This is not a chipset issue cause the Atheros site saids that AR5007eg SUPPORTS TKIP, AES, etc... and TKIP and AES are a part from WPA1 et WPA 2.
My Vista laptop worked for one month without problems with WPA/TKIP. No it's another game!!...the WiFi didn't see the access points, when they are seen it couldn't connect...and so one.
After many searchs i've found out that's a VISTA problem. Certainly after an upgrade.
But i'm interested by sharing that experience with other people.
