I forgot the admin name for my Mac book, I'm using OS 10.5.2, I remembered the password, but not the name, so I can't update my computer now, what shall I do??

YOU have to boot to disk to enable a root user using option or c and when u do click the arrow go to utilities reset password select the mac hd select system admin root and put the password in twice "something u wont for get" save changes log out log in to other use user name root and what ever pass word u used and log in then go to system preferences accounts select you normal user account check the box "allow use to administrate the computer log out and log into your normal account and there you go and if there is not the "other user listed you have to go into single user mode and run a fsck command

Cannot remember workspace name and maybe password

Hi everyone
I installed APEX back in November 2006 and was successfully able to create a workspace. Since then I have not been near it until today.
Now I cannot remember the name of the workspace that I used and I suspect I got my password lost too. Is there a way to find the name of the workspace that I created? I'm pretty sure I know the password so the first step would be gettig my workspace name.
Any ideas?

I figured it out. I logged in as SYS then went to the FLOWS_020200 account and first of all looked in WWV_FLOW_COMPANIES. The SHORT_NAME seemed to be my workspace.
Then I looked in WWV_FLOW_FND_USER and saw a column called USER_NAME which rang a bell in my mind and said - that's the one.
So using those two items, I remembered that my password was APEX and I could log in - phew.
Thanks for all your help. Can I also ask - how easy would it be to upgrade to 3.0 from 2.2? Is there a manual for this?

Hello, I used to have an add-on that would make my browser save my online banking login info..which browsers usually don't..so it forced Firefox to do it. I cannot remember the name though, can you help me?

The banking sites usually prevent log-info from being saved, but there was a way around it..
i want to save them on my computer just like any other passwords..

Before you do anything, go to Help | Check For Updates and install v3.6.16. There was a security breach at Comodo which is an SSL certificate provider whereby a number of fraudulent certificates were inadvertently issued. This allows a hacker to impersonate any site including online banking and your browser will not display a warning. The latest update in the 3.6.x series blacklists those certificates.

My IPad shows my old iTunes login for ICloud. I cannot remember the old password - is there a way I can retrieve it or reset ICloud login without it ?

I updated my ITunes ID and password, but my IPad2 keeps prompting me to backup on ICloud with the former ID/password. Your username is the foldername you will find under your /Users/accountname/ folder. This is the one with the house icon on it. To change your password see:

How to find the Administrator Name of OS X Server, and login to it from the Server app from another Mac?

OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and Server 2.2.2 on both Mac Mini Server and Macbook Pro. They are on the same WiFi network.
I want to use the MBP to manage the Server on Mac Mini Server and use the MacMiniServer to provide Caching Service for my MBP, iPad and iPhone.
The problem:
From the MBP Server app, it asks me the Host Name, Administrator Name and Administrator Password. I cannot get it right. Where can I find it from the Mac Mini Server?
What elese shoudl I do / learn?

Run Server.app on the host itself.
Click on the line on the left for the server itself (probably top or second down)
Click on the 'settings' tab.
Make sure you have 'Enable screen sharing and remote management' ticked.
If it's already ticked ...
Find the address you're using for the 'Host' field and try
ping [thataddress]
as a command in the Terminal on the client computer. Do you get numbers up, or errors ?
Use control-c to quit from the 'ping' command.

Your tag line says Mavericks, so restart the Mac holding the Command and R keys. From the Utilities menu bar item, choose Terminal. When Terminal opens, type EXACTLY:
resetpassword
and press Enter.
When the Reset Password window opens you select the hard drive, and then you will see a list of the users on the system. Select the admin user. Then type a new password in the two spaces provided, do not add a hint, and click Save. When the Login Password Reset window opens, click OK. Back at the Reseet Password window, lower right corner, click Reseet.
Then go to the apple, left side of the menu bar, Restart.
You now have reset the admin user's password.
But are you talking about a different problem, that of the Apple ID of the user for the download of an app? If that is the question, you must find/remember that Apple ID and password or the app cannot be updated.

It's in your Keychain on the computer you usually use to connect to your network - the "kind" will be "AirPort Network Password".
Your Keychain can be opened by using the Keychain Access program. It is in your Utilities Folder.
Open Keychain Access, and type airport in the search field. You will see a number of entries. Choose the one with the name of your wireless network, open it, and check the box next to "show password". Before it reveals itself you will be asked for your login password - the one you use to log in to your MacBook.
The network password will appear in the box.
Quit Keychain Access.

Insert the Leopard disc and hold the C key while your Mac is starting to start up from the DVD.
Choose your language, go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Reset Password, select your user and change your password.
Go to  > Restart, eject the DVD by pressing the mouse during startup and update Mac OS X.

You need a DATA service enabled by your carrier to be able to send e-mail via thier network. Do you have a data plan with your carrier ? If so - is it enabled ?
Can you access internet thru your network (not wifi) ?
