Cannot remove bluetooth devices in iOS 8

In bluetooth settings, I am trying to remove a bluetooth device using iOS 8 on an iPhone 5; however, when I select the device, "Forget This Device" is greyed out and unavailable. I have done some searching and found that this can happen with jailbroken phones, but mine is not jailbroken. I now have two devices that are in my iPhone bluetooth settings that have this issue: my iMac and my iPad.
Anyone else seeing this or knows of a fix?

I just found a solution that worked for me by disabling Handoff in both my iMac and my iPhone.
For OSX:
System Preferences → General and scroll down. Uncheck Allow Handoff between this Mac and iCloud devices
In iOS:
Go to Settings → General, scroll down and turn off the switch for Enable Handoff
I was then able to select forget for the desired bluetooth devices, and then switch Handoff back on.

  • Removed bluetooth device by accident

    Hello fellow Mac Lovers!
I was trying to pair my JBL Speaker/Microphone and when I had the Bluetooth Preferences open I right clicked on the wrong JBL device and selected "Remove" and it removed it.  Now, I want to add it back but I cannot find how to do that.  Can you help me add it back?  I've tried removing the plist files but that didn't help.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Brian

Hi dominic23 and Mac smarties, This was NOT helpful at all.  Please try what I am asking about before you reply.
If a user (you) opens System Preferences and selects BlueTooth you will be shown a list of the available devices that you could attempt to pair to.
If you RIGHT CLICK on a device the menu items has "Remove" as an option.  If you select "Remove" the device disappears and you will never see that device in the detected Devices window again.
    THIS IS MY PROBLEM.
How do I get it to show in my screen again???
What I imagine is that there is a list being maintained that holds all the devices that you never want to see again.  This list is what I am looking for.  If I had the source I would simply traverse the code and go clean the file.
What I imagine is that this file that tracks the devices I never want to see again in a profile Var or a file located in my User preferences area.  I have not been able to find this yet but, I am certain that it is in some .ignore or blacklist.cfg that the device code checks before showing the entire list.
Once more please, I would appreciate any of the few Mac iOS geniuses to read this and say "Oh simple man, it is here *****.  Credit please :-)"
    Thank you,
    Brian

  • Have had to re-pair all Bluetooth devices since iOS 7

It seems that I've had to re-pair all bluetooth devices with my iPhone and iPad since upgrading to iOS 7.  Was this expected or is there some issue with iOS 7 that is affecting existing bluetooth pairings?
Has Apple posted any knowledge base articles on this yet?
    Thanks,

WiseJD's comments are fascinating to me, because I had the opposite situation.  My iPads, with which I have never used Bluetooth, both came up with Bluetooth "On" after updating to iOS 7.  I was surprsed by this.
As I recall, my iPhone also had Bluetooth on after the upgrade.
By the way, I also have a Lexus and can report no pairing issues since the update.

  • Can't remove bluetooth device in file explorer.

I had an LG LS970 Phone paired with my windows 8.1 HP touchsmart PC. After I uninstalled the phone under bluetooth devices, it keeps showing up on my File Explorer. When I double click on it, an FTP No Response dialog box pops up. When i right click
on it, it does not give me an option to delete it. How do i get rid of it? I am also trying to pair my iPad with my PC but its not working. I think this might be a problem. Please help.

    Hi,
According to your description, it must the driver which relate with LG-LS970 no uninstall completely.
First of all, please check Programs in Control Panel, make sure the Bluetooth related driver removed completely.
Seondly, Access to Device Manager, check is it had Bluetooth device driver, if so, uninstall or disable it.
Thirdly, Open Registry, CTRL+F, search LG-LS970, if it found any value, delete it.

  • Cannot Remove ActiveSync Device

    Hi All,
some days ago I saw an ActiveSync device which user claims that it does not belong to him, so for security concerns I removed that device from ECP using Admin account. But automatically after few seconds it reappears, and it happened 8 to 10 times, I remove
it and it reappears. Now this device is stuck there, when I remove it from ECP with Admin Account, it gives error with big device ID 0823450458 does not exist. same result with Remove-ActiveSyncDevice cmdlet. And also it doesnt shown in ADSIEDIT Users ActiveSyncDevices
Container. I have to remove this entry what should I do please suggest
    Virgo

Thanks for the reply, its just happening with this particular device only, I can remove the other devices of the same user, but only this one is stuck. Remove-ActiveSyncDevice is also giving the same error "cannot find the deviceID"...

  • Remove bluetooth device - device not available

I have a iPhone 5 and recently traded in a car that was paired via bluetooth. I did not think to undo the pairing prior to saying goodbye.
I know it is not a big issue and won't mess with the new vehicle, but I just like things neat and tidy and would like to remove it from the list.
The real stinky thing about it is that both vehicles are the same model and I now have two items in the list with the same name and only one is valid.
    Any way to delete it?

I was attempting to remove the device from the list on the phone. For some reason I could not do that when selecting the device. It would not go to the that next screen. This is while I was connected to the new vehicle.
Once I was away from the vehicle, where it could not connect, I was able to access that additional screen and forget the device. I did this before I saw your response. But you are absolutely correct. I would just add a caveat to not have any connection with any bluetooth device while attempting to forget another device unless of course it is the device that you are currently connected to.
Chris - Thank you for your response

  • Windows Vista - cannot use Bluetooth device TRENDNet TBW-102UB

    Hello,
I'm facing a problem that occurs when try to connect Bluetooth device on Satellite A135-S4637 with Windows Vista Home Premium.
The Bluetooth device is a TrendNet TBW-102UB, and at XP it's working just fine.
The error message is "Bluetooth device is not ready".
After install new updates from manufacturer's website the problem still occurs.
Is there any service pack from Vista that fix that kind of problem or it is something relational to Toshiba's Bluetooth software?
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Hello
Please do not be mad on me but I do not understand relations to Toshiba notebook. Are you 100% sure that all USB ports on your notebook work properly?
If yes the whole thing has something to do with this external device, driver and settings. To be honest the manufacturer must offer Vista compatible software. Do you think so?

  • I want to change the name of my bluetooth device in iOS.

Attended a meeting yesterday.  Several others in the room had the same Logitech Ultrathin BT keyboard.  So, the connect list was a mile long.  Each attempt to connect failed as others were connecting to each others keyboards......no way to tell who's keyboard belonged to whom.  Everyone gave up on trying to use the Logitech keyboard.  A bit frustrating to say the least.  This should be a simple fix......but, doesn't look like it unless I'm willing to jailbreak my iPad?

Actually, while Chris is correct in that the device name is indeed supplied by the manufacturer, it is apple who needs to get off their butts and supply us with a solution. Can you imagine every hardware manufacturer trying to reinvent the wheel here and then getting it to work on each device? Android is capable of renaming devices and Apple already knows how to do it as well. Unfortunately, it is a function only available for Mac users. In Bluetooth settings on Mac OS, you can simply 2-finger click a device and then select the rename option. Please Apple, release this option along with IOS 9.

  • Cannot add bluetooth device

Cannot seem to add a Bluetooth Audio device in Yosemite. Neither in Bluetooth Preferences not up in the toolbar do I see an option to add a new device ?
    Any hint ?

So it looks like I have found a solution to this problem. There is no "Add devices" button anywhere, but if you put your BT device like a headset into pairing mode it will appear in the System Preferences > Bluetooth space with a "Pair" button.
    This solved it for me.
