Cannot remove key from keychain access

I just upgraded to Lion today (7/14/2012) on my mother's 1 year old iMac, and cannot get Back to My Mac working in iCloud with my account.
I've tried the trick of removing the Back to My Mac keys from Keychain Access to fix this, which worked on my own MacBook Pro, but here I get an error that the key(s) cannot be found.
Does anyone have any other advice on how to get Back to My Mac working in iCloud?

I also tried Keychain Firstaid, to no avail.

Can someone please help me to remove an iphone telephone number from my imessage application. I no longer have a phone which I registered on my apple ID as a second phone. I have been on my apple ID and it does not seem to be there but cannot remove it from imessage, which still has it as an option to connect to. I am concerned that someone else who inherite this old phone will see my messages if I accidentally enable it again. I have read and re-read various postings and tried all options given but no luck, the **** thing stays there.....

  • What is the key to Keychain Access?

Having recently used Target Disk Mode to successfully rescue my files and reinstall them, I was feeling pretty pleased with myself … BUT! When I went to checkout Keychain Access I found I could only remember the password for the keychain I had created to keep track of the many different Username/Password combinations I have collected over time. I couldn't unlock my "login" keychain.
Since most login details were itemised in the "~" keychain (as mentioned), I thought I would simply Reset the "login" keychain. I must have had the"~" keychain selected, because it disappeared and I ended up with two "login" keychains showing in Keychain Access!
Somehow after that when I went looking, trying to figure out what had gone wrong, and seeking to delete one of the two "login" keychains, they both disappeared from Keychain Access and I was left with no one but two "System" keychains showing.
At this point I decided to leave 'bad enough' alone and see if someone in the Apple Discussions community can put me right. I should point out that in my ~/Library/Keychains folder there are three files: "login.keychain", "~.keychain" and "MicrosoftIntermediateCertificates"; none of which appear in Keychain Access. Why is this so and is there a way to persuade the OS to accept them back again. I note that when I click on File>Import, they appear 'dulled' and cannot be selected - even when dragged to the desktop.
Yes I love my Mac … but sometimes the relation gets a bit strained.

  • Delete passwords from keychain access

How to delete passwords from Keychain Access?

In Keychain Access a password is an element in a key, for example an internet site that you log into will be contained in a file in Keychain Access. They are shown one per line.
Inside that key will be the url location, username , password.
You can highlight the relevant key / file  and control click on it and delete it.
Just a cautionary note, if you no longer use it, it does no harrm to just stay there.

When I plug my ipod in I am able to add song to it but the tab that says "on this ipod" no longer shows up so I cannot remove things from my ipod or anything like that. How do I change this weird setting? On other computers this shows up fine so it is clearly a problem with itunes and not my ipod.

  • I just recalibrated my battery and now cannot remove anything from my dock. Don't know if this has anything to do with it or not. I have moved it up the screen and held it and still returns to the dock. What now?

I do not know if this has anything to do with my problem or not. I just recalibrated my battery and now cannot remove anything from the dock. I have moved it half way up and held it and it just goes back to the dock. Will not let me even put it in the trash. I am new to the macbook so would you please help me?

There is NO calibration on a modern macbook
Battery calibration, battery memory, battery overcharging, battery training, …all these concepts are mostly holdovers from much older battery technology, and on older Apple portable Macbooks ranging from early nicads, NiMh and otherwise; and these practices do not apply to your lithium battery and its smart controllers.
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and are not to be calibrated
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1490
There is no battery calibration with current Apple portable Macbooks with built-in batteries. Lithium batteries have essentially a 0-‘memory’, and all such calibration involve the estimations fed to the system controller on the SOC (state of charge) of the battery over long periods of time as the battery degrades. The software based battery controller knows the battery's characteristics, or SOC and adjusts itself. This is why there is both no need and purpose to periodically deeply drain your macbook battery, since it doesn’t affect the characteristics of the battery, and further still deep discharges are something you should not do on purpose to any lithium battery.

  • My email address changed and now I cannot remove it from cloud on my iphone 5s in order to back my phone up and download apps now

my email address changed and now I cannot remove it from cloud on my iphone 5s in order to back my phone up and download apps now

If you are trying to change the iCloud ID on yoru phone from an old ID ("email address") to your current ID, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • I cannot remove songs from iCloud - how can I do it without paying for iTune match subscription?

I cannot remove songs from iCloud - how can I do it without paying for iTune match subscription? Different answers in this forum make it iTune match enabled. But enabling iTune match cost me $24. Help please.

You are correct, you cannot delete songs from iTunes in the Cloud. This is where all of your purchases are permanently stored so if you want to re-download something you can. Sometimes purchases will no longer be available, if the merchant pulls them from the iTunes store, but for the most part, all of your past purchases will remain in iTunes in the Cloud.
This has absolutely nothing to do with iTunes Match.
What is the issue you are experiencing?

  • How to remove Sophos kechain from Keychain Access?

Hi, I uninstalled Sophos from my mac with the provided uninstaller. But it has left the sophos keychain item it seems.
When I right click on it, a menu appears but the delete option is not listed.
I went looking for the actual keychain item but I could not locate the "Sophos Anti-Virus" folder in /Library
Any ideas on how to get rid of this keychain entry in my Keychain Access?
    Thanks.

Hi, i have the same problem as MacMan998.  In the keychain application a Sophos keychain pops up (see picture). I deinstalled Sophos a couple of weeks ago. There is no folder in Macintosh HD/Library/Sophos... anymore. I can't find any keychain file which could be related to the Sophos antivirus. I even deleted the .plist files from the prefences.  I have no Idea how to fix this problem.  I would like to ask if anyone has a solution for this problem.  Picture of the keychain:
     Thank you very much!Nestragon

  • I cannot remove Avast from Safari.  It is blocking a website that I need for remote access to my office.  I have dragged Avast to the trash and have restarted my computer.  It is no longer installed as an app on my Mac.  Does anyone know what to do?

How do I remove Avast from Safari?

"Avast" is perhaps the worst of the whole wretched lot of commercial "security" products for the Mac. Not only does it fail to protect you from any real danger, it throws false warnings, destabilizes and slows down the computer, and sometimes or always corrupts the network settings and the permissions of files in your home folder. Removing it may not repair all the damage.
Back up all data, then remove "Avast" according to the developer's instructions. Restart.
If you tried to remove Avast by dragging an application to the Trash, you'll have to reinstall it and then follow the instructions linked above.

  • Mail.app blocked from Keychain access by Sandboxd

Working on a clean install of Yosemite. Worked perfect for the first 2 weeks. Then mail all of a sudden cannot send without putting in admin creds for keychain access. I have done all the keychain resets, removed the account and re-added it. Obviously there has to be a way to add an application to trusted status for Security Server/sandbox to allow it access. The question is where and how.

I'm having the same issue since yesterday night, after changing the configuration of one specific SMTP connection.
Mail has been asking me for passwords several times in a row on every click in the inbox or on sending a mail.
The log message is the same, along the lines of "Mail(xxx) deny authorization-right-obtain system.keychain.modify".

  • Cannot remove songs from playlists in the latest iTunes version

I am running iTunes 11.1.5.  When I select a song or songs in a playlist that I want to remove from the playlist (but keep in iTunes) and hit the Delete or Backspace key nothing happens.  What's strange is I am able to remove songs from some of my playlists but not others.  Does this behavior work differently in playlists I create myaself and playlists iTunes provides for you?  It seems I can remove songs from my own playlists but not from the ones provided by iTunes.
    Thanks.
    Jesse

You cannot manually add or delete from smart playlists (they appear in purple in my iTunes and at the top of all the playlists).  Smart playlist content is generated by the rules controlling the playlist.  Right (control+) click on a smart playlist to see the rules.

  • Login keychain keeps disappearing from Keychain Access Utility

I'm running OSX 10.8.3 on a mid 2009 MacBook Pro, and having several problems with passwords and perhaps permissions.
There are two users on this computer, one for me and one for my wife.  Mine was set up long before hers, but she uses it more because I use a newer Mac now.
On her account, everything seems to function normally.  It's my account that is causing problems.
For example, mail can't remember my passwords. I have gmail (and others) configured in Mail, and when I go to check the account settings, everything is right except the password space is blank.  When I start mail, it prompts for the passwords for each of the mail accounts, I enter it, and it prompts again, endlessly.
Also, I can't log in to iCloud from that computer, although I can login from my browser on the same Pro, and from my iPhone and from my MacAirbook using the same account and password.  (This may or may not be related - I don't know.)
When I open KeyChain Access, the upper left panel shows only two Keychains - System and System Roots.
I tried File/Add Keychain and pointed to the login.keychain in home/library/keychains. The login keychain shows up in the upper left panel, and the passwords for all my previously added logins all show up when I click on the login keychain in the upper left panel and then click on the passwords category in the lower left panel of Keychain Access.
But when I quit keychain access and restart it, or when I restart the computer and go back to keychain access, the login keychain has again disappeared again.
I have tried keychain "verify" and "repair" but verify says everything is OK,  no problems, and so repair doesn't fix anything. It checks the login.keychain and says there are no problems.
    Any suggestions?

OK, I spoke too soon. It's ALMOST fixed, but there's still one niggling litte problem.
When I start up my computer, it first asks me to log in (as it should).
Then, after it begins to load everything, the following message pops up.
"Mac OS wants to use the "myname logins" keychain. Please enter the keychain password"
I enter it and that's the end of the problem until the next time I start up the computer. This is a huge improvement to what it was previously doing, but I'd like to fix that, too.
I am wondering if it's related to a problem with the configuration of my login keychains.
When I open KeyChain Access, it shows 2 login keychains, one called "login" and the other "myname logins" (I added the second one to solve the problem at the beginning of this topic - April 22 above).
The one OS X asks for is myname logins.
Myname logins contains passwords for my LAN, but nothing for the airport itself.
The "Login" keychain contains passwords for my airport/time capsule.  But there are 8 different entries for it, 4 of them with the same "Date modified" and 4 more with a second "Date modified".
This login keychain also contains many obsolete entries for ISPs I no longer use, and for routers I used once or twice in clients' offices several years ago.
    So, 5 questions.
Can I remove all these obsolete keychain items?
Can I remove some of the duplicate items?
Should I consolidate these to one keychain or should I leave them separate?
If I should consolidate them, how do I do it?
Will consolidating them solve my problem with OS X asking for my keychain login password when my configuration is loading?
    Thanks.

  • Cannot remove movies from ipad under normal conditions with itunes

Have three films loaded into ipad mini but i cannot remove them. Two are in my musi/itunes/movies directory on my pc but a third is on the ipad but not on my portable. if I try to download them afresh from the itunes store they just get added again to the storage and i run out of memory. These fims seem to have been loaded in a pevious version of the ipad ios system.
Is there any other way to get rid of them as connecting by usb only allows access to the photo library.

... it works. The problem was in front of the computer ...

  • Cannot log on (FileVault) - Keychain Access changed?

This is the 2nd computer to do this to me in a couple of weeks.
At log in, my FileVault password is not recognized and the Master Password is not recognized. When this happened to my G5 Tower (also using OS 10.4.11) there was nothing that showed in my "home folder" when I accessed the disk in Target mode. I ended up erasing the disk and loading Leopard. Since then, I have been prompted by iSync to allow Keychains to be changed a couple of times. When this happened yesterday, I allowed it and then was thrown back into the same problem I had with my G5... Cannot log in; Master Password doesn't work; empty folder for my "home folder" (seems I am missing about 65 Gigs worth of work that used to be in my "Documents").
I reeeeallly need help. In putting my G5 back together, I had not yet backed up my G4. Now with that one "gone", I am missing 10 years worth of work.
I have tried to "Repair Permissions" and "Repair Disk", I have gone onto the Library folder and looked at the "Keychain Access". There seems to be an extra "System" folder (or setting) with a creation date of "Apr. 1, 1976" (suspicious, no?). I also tried to "Reset master password" from the Leopard install DVD.
I emailed Apple, and they still think this is a "FileVault" problem... granted, the problem is that I cannot get past FileVault, but the problem is either in the iSync and/or Keychain Access... HEEEEEELP !!!

    Hi,
CR 2008 is not compatible with BOE XI R2. The Crystal Reports 2008 report designer is unable to log into XI Release 2 or older servers.
The functionality that depends on an enterprise session is unavailable. If you are using one of these report servers(CRS XI/XIR2 or BOE XI/XIR2), we recommend you use the Crystal Reports XI or XI Release 2 report design tool.
The corresponding server for Crystal 2008 is BO XI R3 which will support all the new functionalities present in Crystal 2008.
    I hope this helps you.
    Regards,
    Prashant.
