I tried to update iTunes several times and am getting errors with Quick Time in particular. My problems started whhen I tried to uninstall Quicktime. I have not been able to remove it completely and now cannot reinstall it properly either so as to update iTunes. Quicktime appears in the Add/Remove section but nothing happens when I click the "remove button" except that the "install shield" flashes up for a nano second. When I try re-loading I tunes, I get the following:
+++++++++
QuickTime installation Failed:
Error Code: -3
OK
Installation Successful.
Setup has completed installing iTunes and Quick Time
Click Finish to exit
1628: Failed to complete installation
=================
When I click on iTunes icon I get: QuickTime Unavailable
QuickTime failed to initialize (error -2093).
QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes.
HELP!!
Thanks, Paolo.

  • Quicktime 7.1.3 wont install, iTunes wont work.

When ever I start iTunes, first of all it never opens up but a error comes up saying....
"QuickTime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime Version 7.1.3 or later.
    Please Reinstall iTunes"
So I reinstall iTunes, I have done this about 4 times.I have also removed iTunes and reinstalled it completly but it seems like Quicktime is not updating with it. Is there older Quicktime folder that I need to get rid of or something?

I was having the same problem. I followed the post from Colin and the link to 'Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows' and after a full uninstall following all the steps and 'Disable other conflicting software' after doing this and reinstalling it has started working again.
I hope it works for you.

  • QuickTime version 7.1 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3

QuickTime version 7.1 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes.
That's the error message I have gotten for the past 3 days since trying to upgrade itunes. I have the newest quicktime downloaded, have deleted itunes and quicktime and redownloaded it all, and it still won't work. I have NO idea what to do to make this work, but it's driving me crazy. If anyone can help, please give some advice.

You can try to fully remove both iTunes and Quicktime. Then reinstall the software again. The following link will walk you through the removal of both programs. Make sure you complete Step 16 in the article. Good luck.

My error message is: Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime 7.0.3 or higher. Please reinstall iTunes.
This all started when I was trying to upgrade. I have downloaded the new quicktime and when it came to the option of reparing or uninstalling, I chose repair.
I read through other problems, but didn't find this error message.
Can anyone please help me? In a way in which I don't lose my library?

Sorry. Um. Try to completely remove the Quicktime program from the Add/Remove directory via Control Panel. Reboot your computer. From the Apple website Save the Quicktime program to your Desktop (i.e., rather than "run from this location.") Install Quicktime by clicking on the Quicktime install program that should be present on your desktop. When it is done, reboot your computer.

I hope that that is the correct link.

After spending another two days on pinning down the iTunes 10.5 blank store page problem, here's the solution to be found: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3372617?start=0&tstart=0
    Look out for "japiohelp".
    In short:
    a) press Windows key + "R", enter "cmd", and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (= runs as admin)
    b) enter "netsh winsock reset" and pres enter
    c) reboot the computer
    and Bob's your uncle.

  • I cannot unistall Quicktime in order to reinstall it.

I cannot find the post where all of this was explained by b noir. I had the exact same experience as the person who was having trouble uninstalling Quicktime in order to reinstall it correctly. b noir suggested that the user get rid of ACE codec. What is that? Where can I find it? Would it be on my computer?
    THANK YOU.

Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx, Xilisoft converter)
If so uninstall them, they are know to cause problems with QUicktime.
The packs normally come with an uninstaller, but I have never installed one myself so I don't have details.
Then download the version of Quickime without iTunes:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Now Remove Quicktime using the method for Quicktime in this article (just Quicktime):
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart you computer
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check if it starts.
If uninstalling Quickime fails, you need to delete the files and folders as in the uninstall method and then use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility to cleanup the Quicktime installer files.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
(To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install)
Remove any reference you find to Quicktime. If you don't see any look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like Quicktime versions i.e. 7.x
    Then try installing Quicktime.

  • QuickTime asks me to download/install ITunes.

Occasionally, a requester pops up asking me to update my QuickTime installation, and listed there is an update called ITunes. I can Quit this requester without any action, however, I would prefer not to be asked to install ITunes because I currently have no use for it.
Can I switch this off or change/modify the installation so that ITunes is no longer asking to be downloaded/installed?
Also of some concern is that my current installation shows me that my preferences are turned off for Automatic Updates. There is also an extra stray QuickTime shortcut that is on my Desktop. How do I identify the shortcut to remove?
    Cheers ...

Well, that didn't solve anything. I wonder if there's a utility from Apple which manages QuickTime/ITunes installation/removal/repair? I think perhaps there is something wrong somewhere, as the registry was corrupted recently, and the technician had to fix it, as it was affecting the ability of ScanDisk to run on reboot.
I'm not sure if uninstalling will fix the problem properly without some sort of scan of the PC to ensure all traces of Apple QuickTime/ITunes have been removed completely.
Anyone know if there's a program from Apple for Windows XP that will remove all traces of QuickTime/ITunes?
    Cheers ...

  • Getting the error "Cannot copy file GEARAspiWDM.sys." while installing iTunes

I am installing iTunes on my PC (Windows XP) but I am getting the error "Cannot copy file GEARAspiWDM.sys." but the path is correct and I can copy it manually. Help!

    Hello LondonMom,
Sorry to hear that iTunes is not installing properly.  I found an article that has steps for troubleshooting iTunes installation issues on a Windows computer:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
I recommend starting with the section titled "General installation troubleshooting" and then continue with the section titled "Additional troubleshooting" if the error persists.
    I hope this helps!
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • Cannot remove songs from playlists in the latest iTunes version

I am running iTunes 11.1.5.  When I select a song or songs in a playlist that I want to remove from the playlist (but keep in iTunes) and hit the Delete or Backspace key nothing happens.  What's strange is I am able to remove songs from some of my playlists but not others.  Does this behavior work differently in playlists I create myaself and playlists iTunes provides for you?  It seems I can remove songs from my own playlists but not from the ones provided by iTunes.
    Thanks.
    Jesse

You cannot manually add or delete from smart playlists (they appear in purple in my iTunes and at the top of all the playlists).  Smart playlist content is generated by the rules controlling the playlist.  Right (control+) click on a smart playlist to see the rules.

  • Cannot sync my ipod touch to new-installed itunes.

    Hi,
Last week my computer got a problem. and i sent it to the service to reformat the programs.
And when i want to sync my ipod touch to the new-installed itunes, it said *"The ipod "ipod touch" cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation*".

    Thank you.

You can only sync with one computer. To change syncing computers:

  • Computer cannot remove Quicktime to install newer version

when i try to download the newest itunes it also downloads the newest quicktime of course. Well, It was trying to and then a message poped up saying, "The older version of Quicktime cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group." This also prevented the newest itunes to download too. Now I tryed to delete Quicktime in different ways and it wouldn't work. I also don't know what it means where it says to contact my technical support group. Does that mean Dell(my cpu is from ther) or apple.com where you go to suppport. If you know how to fix my problem then please help. Thank you so much!

    (replying to swelker)
    okay, if you're getting a .msi/1714/1603 combo, here's what we'll try first.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
next use the QuickTime component of the complete uninstall instructions in the following document as a guide to a manual removal of leftover QuickTime program files and folders.
Trouble installing iPod, iTunes, or QuickTime software in Windows
once we've got all the existing QuickTime scraped away, let's try a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed  itunes needs 7.1.3 or later

    HI
I keep getting this message when i try to open itunes. all i did was install the newest itunes download and now it wont work at all. Have tried to reinstall as it said but when i do it tells me there is a newer version ive downloaded and wont let me continue. Please help as tearing hair out lol

let's try swapping out your QuickTime.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?
