Cannot rename DC, "Cannot create a file when that file already exists."

Hi,
A long time ago we used a domain controller named jacob.mydomain.lan.  It was removed, possibly in a 'dirty' way, and now we cannot re-use that name for another domain controller.  In the meantime we have upgraded to Win 2012 domain controllers
now, and when I enter this to rename:
netdom computername ourdc.mydomain.lan /add:jacob.mydomain.lan
I get the error:  "Unable to add jacob.mydomain.lan as an alternate name for the computer.  The error is:  Cannot create a file when that file already exists."
If I enter:
netdom computername ourdc.mydomain.lan /remove:jacob.mydomain.lan
I get: "The command completed successfully", but it still refuses to add jacob.mydomain.lan
After each attempt to add a forward zone dns record 'jacob.ourdomain.lan' has been created.  I always erase this manually afterwards.
What is the problem? How can I search to find the offending 'file' named 'jacob'?
Thanks a lot for help on this.
regards Tor

  • Cannot create a file when that file already exists, but should overwrite

    Hi,
I need the same file name which is at Sender side and when it reaches to Receiver directory without timestamp.
for eg., Sender side : Yeswanth.txt
and also receiver side   :  Yeswanth.txt
but, here it should overwrite the existing file (because, the sender side file name is always constant) at receiver directory when the job schedules for each time.
Processing parameters i has given on Receiver side:
    File Construction Mode  :  Create
put file  : Use Temporary File
and I enabled the Adapter Specific Message Attributes at Sender side and Receiver side.
Error getting receiver side at communication channel :
    Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException:
Yeswanth.txt: Cannot create a file when that file already exists. : com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550
Yeswanth.txt: Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
    Reward points for useful answers.

    Hi Yeswanth
Then you can try with a "Add Counter". This will create new file each time with the same name but a counter will be added to the file name at the end specifying the number of times it is created.
You can also the specify the format to create the counter once select this option u can correspondingly fill the Format and step fields.
    Will this be fine.

  • FTPEx: 550  : Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

    Hi experts,
I am working on idoc to file scenario and PI 7.1. The idoc is split into 3 files.
In sxmb_moni , the message is successful , but in rwb( Message montoring) i am geeting the fllowing  Error message.
' Delivering the message to the application using connection File_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: An error occurred while connecting to the FTP server '172.19.125.190:21'. The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 /Storedata/Outbound/0000001802: Cannot create a file when that file already exists. '. For details, contact your FTP server vendor..'
and this error message is not displayed for all the target files , some files are getting created succesfully.
After some times , the file in error status , gets created automatically.
    What may be the reason.?
    Thanks in advance .
    Best Regards,

There seem to be already some files in your Target Directory with the same name as your new files (which the CC is trying to place) and the CC is not able to overwrite the existing files and hence the error...check this.
    Check: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/44/69d7cfa4b633eae10000000a1553f6/content.htm
    14.      Select the File Construction Mode.
    u25CB       Create
The file is created. The document received last is saved in each case.
If you want the created file to be overwritten, select Overwrite Existing File. If you do not set the indicator, processing is stopped until the created file is processed.
You can only set the indicator if you select Use Temporary File under Put File below.

  • The cluster service terminated, error 7024, cannot create a file when that file already exists

    I have a test 2-node Failover cluster using Server 2012 R2
As of last night the cluster service on one of the 2 nodes is down with this error:
The Cluster Service service terminated with the following service-specific error:
Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
    EventID 7024
The Cluster service waits 60 sec, tries to start, and the same error occurs again.
Any idea where to look to identify which file this error is referring to, or how to go about identifying root cause and getting a solution?
    thank you.

  • Cannot create a file when that file already exists

When i try to use Photoshop filters: Adaptive Wide Angle, Shake Reduction and Liquify. An error pop up saying "Cannot create a file when that file already exists".
Just one detail: The liquify filter doen't pop up the error right away, the error occurs just after i press the "ok" button to accept the changes.
I have already tryed to Reset the preferences, tryed to reinstall the PS, Update the PS, download (and install) the latests drivers to my pc.
My Pc fit in all the requirements, have the openGL version: 3.0
I also have Photoshop CS5 installed, in which the liquify filter works perfectly.
Here i have two Print Screen, how it looks:
The first image is just right before a click the "Adaptive Wide Angle"
The second one is right after i clicked it
If you could help me, i already thank you for wasting you time reading this!

Resetting the Photoshop preferences does not reset the preferences for the plugins.
There should be a Plugins folder. If the folder cannot be created it would cause the error you are seeing.
Can you check the permissions on the ‘Adobe’ folder at: C:\Users\jworthin\AppData\Roaming\Adobe.
Can you manually create a Plugins folder in that location or do you get an error?

  • Spotlight/Finder can't find a file, yet when I search the timecapsule for they find it. If I try to restore the file I get "file with that name already exists...." What is wrong?

I was trying to find a file (iTunes Backup). When using finder/Spotlight they couldn't find the file.
I then opened up my timecapsule and searched for the file....tick-a-de-da it found it in yesterdays backup. I attempted to restore the file and got the prompt "A file with that name already exists in this location, would you like to keep both, replace the file or cancel the request.
So if the file is there why can't spotlight/finder find the file??
If it helps I get this from the terminal when checking if indexing was enabled.

    Hi Danielle,
Is there any possibilty that some of your files (a VI or DLL?) have been moved, renamed, or deleted? Also, what version of LabVIEW are you using and are you using any .NET DLLs? Another option to consider would involve VISA or DAQmx property nodes. Are you using any of these property nodes in your code? Here is a KnowledgeBase article to describe more about the VISA and DAQmx property nodes in a source distribution:
Error Creating Source Distributions Involving rc Files: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/833BFD5E9CA0224886257584004DAA4C?OpenDocument
I hope this is able to help.

  • Quicktime displaying "A file by that name already exists."

When I try and play a video on my MacBook Pro off the internet that isnt youtube I get this stupid messsage from quicktimeX (A file by that name already exists.) and then it doesnt play the video.
Can anybody help me as this is really annoying.

Hi, not sure if this is the answer to your problem but maybe it will help. I was having this same issue the other day. I was trying to convert some movie files into iPhone format and I kept getting this error right near the end of the conversion. I have done these conversions many times with no trouble but this time it just wouldn't work. I tried everything and it kept happening. Then I got another weird error message. And then I finally realized that the destination disk for the converted files didn't have enough room on it for the file! I guess I just assumed that Quicktime would tell me there wasn't enough room when I tried to start the conversion, not pretend that it was working then crap out when the disk reached its fill level.
Who knows, maybe the same thing is causing your error. Hope this helps!

  • HT1347 When I add a folder to the library, does that mean that 'later' when I drop a new file into that folder (already added) it will automatically end up in iTunes? (or do I have to add file/folder to library every time I have a new file??) I'm using XP

When I add a folder to the library, does that mean that 'later' when I drop a new file into that folder (already added) it will automatically end up in iTunes? (or do I have to add file/folder to library every time I have a new file??) I'm using XP...

iTunes does not actively scan the media folders.  If you manually add content to a folder, then you must add that content to iTunes manually via the File > Add File/Folder feature.
The only folder that gets scanned is the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder.

    Does anyone know why ?

It's hidden. Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and supply that path to access it.

  • Media Source - 'file of this name already exists' transfering tracks from Zen Micro to

I've come home for the weekend, and I'm trying to transfer a few albums from my Zen Micro to my Mum's PC for her. Normally this works fine, but for some reason today I keep getting the message 'A file of this name already exists' for about 80% of the tracks I try to transfer. One or two tracks from each album will work and the rest will fail.
These are new tracks and they definitely aren't already in her music library - I've double checked the C dri've too.
I'm given the option to overwrite the exisiting tracks, so I gave that a try with one album, but the tracks still aren't didn't show on there once I'd transfered, despite the track number not going up, so god knows what's been overwritten with those!
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers!

Your firmware is not the PlaysForSure version.
Anyway, I just want to make sure that you have set up the directory and file naming convention correctly for MediaSource. Here is what you should do:
    - Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
    - Go to Tools->Settings->PC Music Library and click Properties. Set your preferred folder and file naming convention. Close the setting page.
    - In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library.
    - Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
    - Transfer the tracks from your MP3 player to MediaSource's PC Music Library by clicking the arrow pointing from right to left.
    - If you have updated the track information of the tracks in your MP3 player, the updated track information will also be imported into the PC Music Library database. However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.

  • File Error: A file of this name already exists

im using Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 and whenever I tried to export a sequence using compressor, I get that error message "File Error: A file of this name already exists". I tried reinstalling the program, nothing. What can I do to fix that?

Sounds like you already have a file by that name located in the place you want to export to. Try changing the name of your new file.

  • Where does KN 09 store .mov files when these files were not copied into the KN document?

I saved a 'test' KN document without copying the movie files into the document.  The size of the document was less than half the size of the actual movie files themselves, so I figured they were not embedded into the document.  I then played the KN slideshow on a different drive that did not contain the actual movie files.
But it played!!  How can that be?!
I had created the document leaving the box for copying audio and video unchecked!  It was saved as a package.  By the way what is a "package" anyway?
Can anyone shed light on this dilemma?
    Thank you,
    Howard
PS - the reason this is important is that I want to edit my real Keynote document as it gets bigger without the constant spinning color beachball appearing everytime I right clickk or edit.   This doc is 9GB already and will get a lot larger.  If I can edit without the beachball appearing by saving as a package without embedding the video that would be great!
My other option is just to leave the videos in a separate folder and then click on them at the appropriated moment.  That is what the Apple tech support guy told me is what lots of Apple people do when presenting Keynotes in their stores.
    Thanks again.

I decided to try double-clicking one of the files in my library, whereupon iTunes told me that it couldn't find the file. I clicked the button to find the file myself, and was pleased when the dialog box opened up in the right folder.
This made sense, as iTunes knew where the file should have been, so offered that folder as a starting point.
I then tried another file (from a different album), and iTunes offered me the same folder as before. This was logical, as most Windows applications remember which folder you last chose. I navigated to the correct folder for this file, chose the file and closed the dialog.
I then tried another file in the second album, and guess what? iTunes offered me the very first folder again! No, it didn't remember my last folder.
So now if I want to tell iTunes where the files are, I have to double-click each of the 100 files that it's lost, then click the button to say I'll find the file, then navigate away from the wrong folder to the one that it should have remembered from the previous time, and then choose the folder.

  • The operation cannot be completed an item with the name  "...already exists

    Hello mac users,
please help me... I can't copy to Applications any larger *.app file. I try drag Ableton (live.app ~120mb) or Mailplane.app (76mb) to Application dyr, but I saw message: "the operation cannot be completed an item with the name "..." already exists". But i had never install this apps before.

So, you are dragging the application from it's folder on the disk image directly to your Applications folder. If that's the case and you still get this message, have you ever installed that application before?
If it was installed at some time in the past, look in /Library/Receipts to see if there is a .pkg or a .bom for it. If you find one, delete it and try again.
EDIT: I'm downloading ableton now to see what's going on... OK no problems here. I dragged it to my Applications folder and now have a folder named "Live 7.0.10 OS X" in my Applications folder.
Perhaps you are looking for it under the wrong name?
