Cannot rename mailbox I created
I am trying to rename a mailbox that is a sub-mailbox to another, both of which I originally created to store email messages. I can highlight the name and type a new one, or I can go to the Mailbox menu and select Rename Mailbox, then type the new name. In both cases I get the following error message:
Mail was unable to rename “~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/AFS.mbox/EBO”.
Has anyone seen this type of problem? Is there a solution for it? I've not been able to find anything online.
I had the same problem, and was finally able to rename mailboxes by doing this:
In Mail, click out of the folder you're trying to rename. I went to the Inbox.
Close Mail.
Go to Finder...Library...Mail...Mailboxes.
Single-click on the mailbox you want to rename.
Single-click on the mailbox's name.
Type in the new name.
Single-click to the right of the name you entered.
Close Finder.
Re-open Mail.
Wait. Within about 5 seconds, the folders will update, and you'll see the name change. You may have to manually re-order them if you're an alphabetizer, though.
This was harder than it needed to be, and even once I thought I had the process figured out, it was a bit squirrelly. I tried it once without having closed Finder (at step 8), and the new name wouldn't appear in Mail. Also, double-clicking on the mailbox (at step 5) led me back to the same error GAdams described. And hitting "return" after typing the new name instead of single-clicking (at step 7) gave me a failed attempt, too.
Hopefully, Apple will correct the problem in an upcoming software update, but in the meantime, it's a usable workaround. Good luck!

Exchange 2013 mailbox restore fails cannot open mailbox microsoft system attendant
I am having problems when trying to restore a mailbox.
I get an error:
Cannot open mailbox /o=First Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=MBXsvr/cn=Microsoft System Attendant
This is the first time I have tried restoring mailbox on this 2013 Server. This 2013 server is from a recent 2010 migration.
I also recently lost Discovery Search mailbox and had to recreate it.
I found an article on 2010 that says to set the homeMDB, but I am not sure if that is needed in 2013. There is none set in this AD.Hi,
I searched and found that someone got the same error and resolved it by repairing the recovery database.
Please repair your recovery database to check result.
Instead of using the production space, try moving the RDB over to a test environment and running the New-MailboxRepairRequest there, then move it back
to the production environment. To repair recovery database, you can follow steps below.
1. Spin up a test environment.
○ Create a test-production DB in the test environment.
○ Dismount the DB in the test environment and rename it
to old (or just delete it if it has no data that needs
to be kept).
2. Bring over the recovery DB to the test environment.
○ Rename it to match the test-production DB and put it in the test-productionDB location.
○ Mount the RDB in the test environment (as if it were the test-productionDB)
○ Run the New-MailboxRepairRequest to repair the affected mailbox
○ Once complete, dismount the recoveryDB.
3. Bring the recovery DB back to the production environment.
○ Rename it to it's original name and put it back in it's original location.
○ Mount the RDB in it's original (rdb) location with it's original RDB name.
○ Run the New-MailboxRestoreRequest to merge the affected mailbox back into the production space.
Hope this is helpful to you.

Cannot transfer mailbox from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013
Error message I get is below:
Any one got the same issue?
It was working fine a few days ago, suddenly cannot move mailboxes.
-Tried to create another database in case it has a limit: same issue
-tried to move from GUI and shell same issue.
MigrationTransientException: The call to 'net.tcp://domain.local/Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService domain.local (15.0.995.28 caps:017FFFFFCB07FFFF)' timed out.
Error details: This request operation sent to net.tcp://domain.local/Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00:00:50).
The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. This may be because the service is still processing the operation or because the service was unable to send a reply message.
Please consider increasing the operation timeout (by casting the channel/proxy to IContextChannel and setting the OperationTimeout property) and ensure that the service is able to connect to the client. -->
The call to 'net.tcp://lnp-exch2013.loopartners.local/Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService domain.local (15.0.995.28 caps:017FFFFFCB07FFFF)' timed out. Error details:Hi,
I recommend you refer to the following article:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/asiasupp/archive/2011/06/23/when-you-attempt-to-move-mailbox-from-to-exchange-online-you-receive-the-error-quot-the-call-to-microsoft-exchange-mailboxreplicationservice-timed-out-quot.aspx
Cause:
The DataImportTimeout property may be set too low.
Resolution:
To isolate the issue, you may check how it works if you increase the timeout with the following steps:
On the Client Access server, open the following file with a text editor such as Notepad:
\ExchWeb\EWS\web.config
Locate the following section in the web.config file:
<!-- Mailbox Replication Proxy Server configuration -->
<MRSProxyConfiguration
IsEnabled="true"
MaxMRSConnections="100"
DataImportTimeout="00:01:00" />
Make sure value of the IsEnabled property is set to true.
Check the value of the DataImportTimeout property. The minimum value is one minute (00:01:00), and the maximum value is 30 minutes (00:30:00).
Set a higher value, but make sure the value is less than 30 minutes.
The recommended value for this field should be 00:20:00 (20 minutes).
After the values are configured correctly, save and close the web.config file.

Cannot open mailbox, Get-CalendarProcessing error
Hi
I am running a native Exchange 2010 environment and I created a room mailbox resource in Exchange. However I am receiving the following error when I try to view the properties
Cannot open mailbox /o= /ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=server/cn=Microsoft System Attendant. It was running the command 'Get-CalendarProcessing -Identity 'domain.com/Exchange/Resource Mailboxes/Resource-Mailbox-Name'
-ReadFromDomainController'.
I have two databases in my Exchange environment. Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue, also why is this happening.
ThanksI don't know how this has been marked as the answer, as it is NOT an answer.
Which service is unable to contact the GC? What are we supposed to be restarting?
I personally get this error when I create some resource accounts programmatically. I get the error if I try and open the resource information tab in the GUI. I also get the error if I try and run "get-mailboxcalendarconfiguration" in Powershell against the
same mailbox. -
Cannot open mailbox system attendand- randomly
Hello,
our environment have Exchange 2013 with CU7 installed, and lately receive weird problem that is not persistent but it unexplained.
All databases mounted that are in DAG, all arbitration mailboxes good, in ADSIEDIT checked homeMDB, and it is not set, however, i dont know is this relevant because sometimes is failing, sometimes is success.
When we run user creation we randomly get error:
Cannot open mailbox /o=ORGANIZATION/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=SERVER/cn=Microsoft System Attendant. CategoryInfo: NotSpecified: (:) [Set-MailboxRegionalConfiguration],

Googled many answers, tried many workarounds, and I'm out of ideas now, so any suggestion will be more than welcome!
Thanks,
IvicaWell, i would do that, except that Exchange 2013 don't have System attendant service.
Also, we have 6 databases, how do i know which one to put in homeMDB field?
I did as you instructed anyway for test and still receive error:

</Event>We just ran into this exact problem this morning. At 7:26am the database just dismounted. No errors just dismount. Now they won't mount and we can't run eseutil /p or /d as it immediately errors out. /k works and no errors found.
Bandaid fix was to go into the EMS and simply move the public and private db to a nas. Now they mount fine. This is strictly a temp solution to get the server back online but something was changed in host machine drive setup (hyperv with compellent san)
According to the host service (county systems) nothing was done or changed and no updates.
At any rate it is now working and we just need to know what can be done to migrate back to the san and off the nas.
Here is the error when trying to mount - the key is the -583 as none of the other errors comply with is special instance
Failed to mount database 'Mailbox Database 2017935857'.

If you are having issues with launching iTunes after an update, you may want to take a look at the troubleshooting in the following article:

in Mail on macbook pro. unable to rename the mailboxes because the "rename mailbox" option is not highlighted.
Thanks Jim...........Thank you SO much. Everything I had tried just expanded the size of each columns. Finding that slender area to the right of the message columns was tricky, but it worked. Wish that was more intuitive.
Thanks again. -
I can't access my itunes music on my laptop after having it re-imaged. I installed itunes again but can't access the music folder. I get the following message when I click to open itunes: "The folder itunes cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is the Music folder.
I have an iPad2, and iPad mini, and an iPhone5 with a different number of songs on each. I want to sync everything -- should have close to 800 songs. Tried to get support from Apple but would be charged for help.I have a Windows 7 operating system my computer runs from.

Itunes won't open - get message that .itl file cannot be found or created
My HP laptop with windows just crashed, and I'm trying to get everything back to working order. I reloaded itunes and it seemed to be working fine. Then at some point, I went to open it and received the messsage:
The itunes library .itl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the "itunes" folder in the "Music" folder.
I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes several times, to no avail. The program won't open and I continue to get the same error message.Check the permissions in that folder and make sure you have full read/WRITE privileges.

Hello,
I am not able to open my iTunes. I was able to use it yesterday. I keep getting the message:
*The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "My Music" folder.*
I have created a folder called "iTunes" in my "My Music" folder, which does not fix the problem.
I have uninstalled and installed iTunes twice.
I have used the repair option when trying to install iTunes over the top of my current iTunes.
None of these options has fixed the problem.
If anyone knows how to fix this, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!
RachelI found the answer on another board... Below are the parts I found useful (quoted).
Click on Start
Clin on Run
Type in "regedit" Enter
Do this step twice as there are two locations. +(I actually had 4 locations.)+
CTRL F
Type in "My Music"
Double Click and enter the path for where the folder is located.
Then exit.
The exact locations of the 2 entries that I changed are
hkeycurrentuser - software - microsoft - windows - current version - explorer - shell folders
and
as above - windows - current version - explorer - USER shell folders
I located the location of my iTunes folder (something like this - C:\Documents and Settings\"yourname"\My Documents\My Music\iTunes.
I copied it, and when I found the regedit location referred to, doubleclicked the location and pasted the path in there.

"Library.itl file cannot be found or created"
My iTunes 8.0 was working fine and then all of the sudden I get this message whenever I try to open iTunes.
"The iTune Library.itl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the "iTunes" folder in the "Music" folder."
There's a different file path for my music file than the one listed in the above error message but my iTunes won't even open for me to direct it to it.
Other times, I don't get any error messages. iTunes 8.0 simply doesn't open up.
Any help would be very appreciated.Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista): How to open an alternate iTunes Library file
