I cannot reply to emails on my iphone5. I could do so until a few days ago. How can I rectify this problem?

    Hello there Mahasweta,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I found this article for you when researching why you may not be able to reply or send emails.
iOS: Unable to send or receive email
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
    Restart the iOS device.
Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage to ensure that the device has Internet access. If you're unable to load a webpage, try the Wi-Fi assistant.
    Try an alternative Internet connection.
If your email is provided by your Internet provider, try connecting from the home network.
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, try to disable Wi-Fi:  Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If not, try a different Wi-Fi network.
Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
Delete the account from Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then add the email account again on the iOS device.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Cannot Reply to Email

I have a user with an iPhone who cannot reply to messages from her company account. She can send messages fine, but when she replies to anyone from her work address, she gets the message: "Cannot Send Mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient *****@company.com was rejected by the server because the server does not allow relaying." It only happens when she replies. She can send new messages without a problem. And it's only people from the same mail domain. She can go into the account settings, outbound server, and turn it off as the primary server and turn it back on and the message will have sent. She also has a gmail account set up on the phone.
She is the only with the issue so I don't think it's anything to do with the server.

I forgot to mention that I verified her settings were correct and had her type password in to confirm it was correct.

  • Cannot reply to emails but can send or forward

I usually work from home but am in my office 2d a week. I just took my new mac to the office, and for whatever reason, emails I received at home, when I reply, it tries to send them via my home SMTP server (comcast) rather than the work server. I even went in on my account info under Preferences and DELETED my comcast info, so the only SMTP server showing is my office server. No dice.
I can send new email, and I can forward, but I cannot reply. It seems that there is something "hidden" in these emails that it wants to use my home SMTP server? Ideas?

    Hi,
I have more or less the same problem.
When I try to reply to an email, mail shows me a message to tell me that it can't send out the mail message via the server. This can take up 5 to 10 minutes before I know it can't be send out.
Did you find a solution for you mail problem?

  • HELP! cannot reply to email

For some reason i cannot reply to e-mails. If i click reply, it brings up the e-mail i'm replying to, however, there is no send button. It just starts with the recipient box. It's like there's no header with the send - attach - address book - etc... buttons. It appears to be the same thing if i try to reply all.
I can create a new message, and the buttons are there. Just reply and reply all seem to be missing the send buttons.

In firefox in the url bar, type in about:config click to confirm that you'll "be careful." In the bar that says "filter" type dom and press enter.
Look for dom.storage and it probably says false. Right click and click "toggle" to change it to true. This should fix the problem.

  • Cannot reply to emails

Im having problems replying to email messages direct from the message itself. to reply i have to right click and choose "reply to sender only"
when trying to reply through the message itself the "to" field just says "please wait.."

Have you tried with add-ons disabled?
Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu (Alt+H), click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

No, responding to emails is very easy, so yes, you must be doing something wrong
This phone is a royal pain in the a**.
No, its about as intuitive as they can get. The manual is here though http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf It usually helps to get your own configuration correct otherwise its not likely to work.
That said, how have you configured your email account ? Give us details (minus your password obviously) and how you are connected. Does it ONLY happen with incoming gmail emails or have you only tried it on them ?

  • Cannot reply to email - Reply not working

I have a new computer and I cannot figure out why the reply function in Mail does not work. I've tried clicking on the icon and apple-R, as well as the menu command, but none will work. Everything else seems to work okay. I can send and receive mail, just can't reply to any email.
    Ideas?

If you’re running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), as your profile indicated at first, you posted in the wrong forum. It would have been more appropriate to discuss this in the Mail & Address Book - Tiger forum. Actually, your profile doesn’t show now the version of Mac OS X you’re running, so please update the Computer Model and Operating System fields on your My Settings’s profile (and click Save), so that this essential information automatically appears in all your posts.
The problem you’ve described is usually caused by some Launch Services cache or preferences corruption that affects the built-in spell checker. The following article describes how to manually reset Launch Services -- the notes at the bottom of the article also provide information about the side effects of deleting each of the files involved:
    Resetting Launch Services
If you prefer using a cache cleaning utility instead of following the manual procedure described in the previous article, take a look at this other article for general troubleshooting and cache-cleaning procedures. Actually, you should also verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described there:
Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption
The most appropriate utility for this particular problem probably is Tiger Cache Cleaner, but you may also want to consider other utilities, such as OnyX, or Cache Out X, which are free. Whatever utility you choose, be sure to read this first:
Side effects of System cache cleaning
As an example, this is how you should proceed with OnyX:
    1. Quit all applications.
    2. Launch OnyX and enter your administrator password.
    3. Click Maintenance. In the Reset section, check LaunchServices database.
    4. You may uncheck any other pre-checked options if you wish.
    5. Click the Execute button.
    6. Restart the computer.

  • Cannot reply to email after update to 10.8.4

Recently - I believe after updating to 10.8.4 - Apple Mail 6.5 will no longer send replies or forwards.  After troubleshooting different scenarios, it seems to be related to the original message text being included in the reply/forward.  I need to include all previous message text in my emails for audit purposes.
Any suggestions/fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; echo; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; echo; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; echo; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -A /e*/{cr,la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • I cannot reply to email on Outlook.  No specific error message. "Sorry looks like there was an error.  Please try again."

I am not able to reply to any email in my Outlook Inbox.  It doesn't matter if it's a new email or one I've already opened.  I get no specific error message, just "Sorry looks like there was an error.  Please try again."

Boot from the Leopard DVD (I assume you are installing Leopard since you've posted in the Leopard forum.) After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. After the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the left side list then click on the Partition tab. Select one partition from the drop down Partition menu, set the format type to Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) from the Format drop down menu. Click on the Options button and be sure the partition map is set to GUID (GPT) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button. After the partitioning has been completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with installing OS X.
If you choose to install Tiger follow the same procedure as above except boot from the OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer (assuming that is Tiger.)

  • Cannot reply to emails from contact with accented character.

    Hi,
If I receive an email from Bob Côté, it shows "Bob CotÀÀ©" in the preview and "CotÀÀ©" and "Bob Côté" in the email itself.
Of course, if I try to reply, the phone tries to send the email to both adresses, "CotÀÀ©" being of course unrecognized from my contacts.
This is pretty annoying, as whenever I want to reply, I need to manually go in the "To" field and change the recipient.
This is 2010, I'm sure it's supposed to work!??? Am I doing something wrong?
    thanks.

Works just fine for me. The list opens when Itap the notification area. When I tap on the title or letter icon  for the new email, it opens in edit-reply mode.
Edit: Not quite the truth... I have to click on the reply icon at the bottom of the just-opened message  - the envelope icon with the left green arrow.

  • Cannot "Reply To" email sent via exchange

    Specs. - SBS 2003 SP2 / IPhones 2nd generation
I have a client who I setup to receive email from their exchange server to their IPhones. No problems with send or receive. They needed to change the "reply to" address in their exchange accounts to "SmartOfficeSolutions.com". Since that happened they can receive mail but not reply to it. The email accounts are as follows: SmartOfficeSolutions.com is forwarded to AlAlpert.com.

I forgot to mention that I verified her settings were correct and had her type password in to confirm it was correct.

    Hi,
Just installed to Panther a few days ago and yesterday I downloaded the 10.4.3 upgrade and now nothing happens when I hit "reply" to a mail message. Also, if I hit "forward" or "compose" the proper window opens up but I can't type more than a few characters or delete what little I get to type.
Any help/info will be greatly appreciated.
