Cannot reset iPad with forgotten passcode

I have forgotten the restrictions Passcode but am unable to reset my iPad even though I have tried the usual suggestions.  I have the latest iOS version (8.0), i have backed up all my stuff, i have turned off Find My iPad, and I have done the turn it off/plug it into USB/hold Home key/connect to iTunes/click Restore process...BUT it seems to be hung up on the software verification part.  It shows the progress bar running as it "verifies" but it never gets past that.  I always end up with an error message.
I'm beyond frustrated at this point as all i want to do is reset it so i can start over without the passcode!!!  Hopefully someone has been in this situation before and got through it!!

At the very end of the kb article that explains what to do when you forget the passcode, it states the following .......
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
....... So in either case, you will not need to use the pascode, but you will be totally erasing the device, but since you do sync with iTunes, I assume that you have a backup from which you can restore the device and after doing that you can sync with iTunes to recover all of your media.

    Good day mycradle,
If your iPhone is locked with a passcode and you do not remember what it is, you can erase the iPhone to regain its use. Note that any data that is not backed up will be lost. See this article -

  • Ipad Locked(forgotten passcode) and error message when I try to connect to itunes

Ok so I've forgotten my passcode to my Ipad. I have tried too many times so now the screen says Connect to itunes. When I try to connect it there is a error message saying: Cannot connect to itunes becuase it is locked with a passcode. I have never used this itunes computer with my ipad so I haven't synced or anything. Is there anything I can do to  unlock my IPad? Thanks in advance.

If you can't remember the Passcode, you need to restore the device from the computer it was last synced with.
Follow the instructions for putting the device in recovery mode >  iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • Factory Reset iPad 2 without passcode or iTunes

I need to do a factory reset on an iPad 2. It is locked with a passcode, and I do not have a computer with iTunes on it. How can I reset my device?
If you cannot help, please do not post irrelevant links or questions. Thank you.

There is no way anyone can help you. It is like asking how can I drive my car without an engine. You cannot restore it to factory conditions without iTunes and a computer. If you make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store they will restore it as a new device for you. You might also get the Geek Squad people to do so for you also.

  • Syncing with forgotten passcode

I bought an iPad 2 today and want to sync it so that it has all the apps that I currently have on my iPad1.
I have forgotten the 'restrictions' passcode on my 1 and so can't make in-app purchases.
If I sync my new 2, will it pick up the forgotten passcode and leave me with the same problems of no in-app purchases?

When you connect an iPad to your computer you can make a backup of it via your computer's iTunes - that will backup the contents of your third-party apps (documents, settings, files etc), emails, notes, contacts, calendars etc (it doesn't include music, films or the actual apps themselves). That backup can then be copied back onto the same iPad or onto a new iPad e.g. if you need to have your current iPad replaced or you buy a new one then you can restore that backup onto the new iPad and have all your apps, documents, files etc copied onto it i.e. it will have the same contents/settings as were on your current iPad when you made the backup.
But as a backup includes settings, it will also include the restrictions passcode - so restoring to that backup will keep the restrictions code in place.

  • How many tries do you have until iPad is completely disabled with forgotten passcode?

I havent used my iPad in a few months & I forgot the passcode. My little sister also played around with it with out my knowledge disabling it. My last waiting time for it to enable the keypad for the passcode was 60 minutes. If i try again will it disable or can I still attempt to type the passcodes in?
I have a list of passcodes I use that's why this is so frustrating I cannot try them anymore.

10 times. Then it's disabled. With no more attempts. Once that happens you have to perform a recovery mode restore, to bypass the passcode

  • How to unlock an iPad with unknown passcode?

    Hi!
After a lot of waiting I was given an iPad Air from my local government because of my involvement in local politics. I believe it is so they can send out
meeting papers on email and not have to spend a lot of money on making a lot of copies and sending out masses of paper.
I have not been impressed by their tech guy, he left the iPad in reception for me to pick up(on Friday), I forgot to check the contents of the box so it was weekend before I realised the charge cable was missing. On Monday(yesterday) he left a cable in the reception on city hall for me to pick up.
So I charged the iPad and attempted to use it and found it had a passcode that he had not given me. I find this a little strange as he had expressed surprise that the cable was missing as "he had not charged it". Someone must have used it for there to be a code set.
Now he is on christmas holiday and have not responded to my sms asking for the code.
I had hoped to use the iPad to Skype grandparents over christmas as my iMac is downstairs in my office and my laptop have pretty much given up.
Is there any way to get around the passcode when it is an iPad that I have not had synced to my iMac before?
    Thx and merry christmas.
    Howie

Troublesome problem but there's an easy fix. I just started a teaching job and my school issues all teachers a laptop and iPad. The previous owner of my iPad had set up a passcode and I was able to reset the device with the following steps:
    1. Turn off the device,
    2. Connect the USB/charging cord to only your computer (don't connect to the iPad).
    3. Press and hold down the home button on the iPad just before plugging in the USB connection to your computer.
    4. Keep the home button held down until the iPad shows a screen with the connection cord and an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo.
    5. Your computer should bring up a small iTunes window asking if you want to "restore" the device.
    6.   ...restore the device.

  • Cannot sync iPad with Yosemite

I have upgraded my iMac to Yosemite and my iPad to iOS 8.1.  Suddenly, iTunes (12.0.1) on my iMac no longer connects to the iPad.  I get the message on the iPad asking if I trust this computer, but when I say that I do trust it, nothing happens and the iPad does not appear as a connected device.
    Any suggestions?

I have the same problem.  Upgraded my MacBook Pro to Yosemite and started getting the "do you trust this computer" with my iPhone 5s and iPad 2 every time I connect them.  Neither device shows up in iTunes.  Clicking "Trust" makes the iDevice show up in Image Capture but not iTunes.  Restarting iDevices makes the "do you trust this computer" dialog come up again but device still doesn't show up in iTunes.
Updated both devices to current iOS but problem persists.
Reset "All Settings" in iDevices as per the Apple Support "Do You Trust..." pages , no change.
Reset the iTunes Advanced preference "reset all warning dialogs", closed and opened iTunes, same problem.
Logged out and logged in - same problem.
Tried different combinations/orders of resetting a device, resetting warning dialog, restarting computer & iDevice but no change.
Rebooted the computer and devices are seen BUT they randomly disappear, sometimes instantly if I unplug and replug the device, sometimes a day later.
I just reinstalled iTunes as suggested above with fresh version downloaded from Apple.  Devices are now recognized, but I'll give it a day or two to see if the problem reoccurs before considering this solved.

  • How to enable iPad with right passcode after entering wrong passcode 6 times

Hi, my iPad is disabled because my daughter entered wrong passcode more than 6 times. I do remember the passcode myself.
How can I enable the iPad without wiping everything? I do not see an option to enter passcode anywhere. I never backed up my iPad. When I connect the iPad to iTunes, it keeps on giving the message that respond on iPad. But the iPad only shows that iPad is disabled.
