Cannot retrieve voice mail

Hi folks, does anyone have the time and savvy to advise me?Often times, I cannot retrieve my voice mail. I can see the voice mail and the number of seconds it lasts.  But when I click on the voice mail, the number of seconds goes to zero, and no message plays.  This happens more and more often.  I googled and found a person who said go into the app file.  He described a procedure that involved deleting the .dat files.  I did that, but i am not sure i did it correctly, as it did not help.If i fail to retrieve the voice mail the first time, i never can get it to retrieve.  Windows 7 ultimate, laptop

I have not contacted support. That is my last resort, I usually get much better help for obscure PC issues from 'regular' folks on forums. I call support for things that are clearly Verizon issues. I'm betting they will just read me the system requirements and tell me to either use Internet Explorer or contact my PC/Operating System support . I'll search around a few more days before I call.

Do you have an Exchange account through your place of employment? Quite often the administrator or IT person will set up passcodes for devices that have employer exchange email accounts on them. If your account is work related, check with your employer for the code.

I cannot retrieve my mail when I am not connected to the internet. Please help.

Your mail is housed on the mail server. The device attempts to update, and because you are not connected to the internet, you cannot access it. You need an active data connection to deal with mail.

  • Unity 3.1(5) prblm retrieving voice mail for single user

  • After updating to iOS 5, I cannot retrieve Yahoo Mail

After updating to iOS 5, I cannot retrieve up to date Yahoo Mail.  It successfully connects.  But it only shows some old emails.  Nothing current.  I've deleted the Yahoo connector and recreated it.  Same thing.  I know I have new emails waiting in my Yahoo Inbox, yet they're not showing on my iPhone.
    Any ideas?

I fixed Yahoo Mail on my 3GS with iOS 5:  In Settings, "Mail, Contacts, Calendars", I reduced "Show" to "50 Recent Messages"
It had been set to "200 Recent Messages"
I also have an Exchange and MobileMe account setup on the phone.
I guess that there is not enough memory or something with iOS 5 on some devices to hold 200 Recent Messages from multiple accounts.
    Hope this helps!

Sounds like you're using a pop3 client on your home machine with the settings set to remove immediately off server once delivered to client.

  • Cannot delete voice mails

    CAN'T DELETE VOICE MAILS!!
When I try to delete them online, I'm told the "mail box is in use" (it isn't) and to call the support#.  They tell me to try deleting them via the phone. That tells me "your records aren't available".
This is really annoying-can anyone advise how to fix this "black hole"?

So you can see them online, play them but not delete them?   or you can't play them either?
And when you call into the voicemail number - are you saying you can't access your voicemail at all?
if you can't access over the phone, then that will be the first thing you want to fix, so use the following two links.
    Get Voice Mail Access Number
    Reset Voice Mail Passcode

  • Retrieving voice mail, error message on first attempt, success on second?

When I first call voice mail and enter my password, I receive an error message, but I am successful on the second attempt. What is the problem, I changed the PW but still have the same problem?

Does this happen every time you try to access your Voicemail?
Voicemail is a feature controlled exclusively by your carrier (AT&T) so it could also be something on their end.
    Cheers.

  • Cannot get voice mail to work properly.

I have a Galaxy 5S,  I have deleted all my voice mail messages but the screen still says there is one. When I push 7 it tells me there r none to delete. I have shut my phone down 3 times hopi g rebooting would help, but doesnt

Perhaps you can try to take out the sim card after powering down.  Wait a min or 2 and reinsert SIM then power on.  If that doesn't work, sounds like it is another of the widespread issues and bugs in 5.0, unless you haven't updated to 5.0 yet.  On a related note, but different phone, I had a similar issue and called my VM and slowly went through option 7 to delete messages just to make sure.  I also had to have a data connection, for some reason, for the icon to disappear.

  • Cannot redirect voice mails: Unable to relay

    Hi,
we recently subscribed to office365.  Some of our users prefer to redirect their mails to their own email address via a simple redirect rule that applies to all messages.  For the most part, it works fine, except that all voicemails are not being
redirected and they bounce back with a '550 5.7.1 Unable to relay' error.
    Any advice?
The following is a sample of the exact error message, except, email addresses, dns names, and IP's are fictional:
mail.domain.com rejected your message to the following email addresses:

    mail.domain.com gave this error:
    Unable to relay
Your message wasn't delivered due to a permission or security issue. It may have been rejected by a moderator, the address may only accept email from certain senders, or another restriction may be
    preventing delivery.

    Hi,
Since you are able to send emails to internal domain i assume the application server IP address already allowed into Receive Connector.
To relay application emails to external domain you should enable Externally Secured box in the Authentication Tab of the particular Receive Connector.

  • Retrieving voice mail is turninig off phone

When I touch the number of the voice mail I wish to listen to the entire phone shuts down, I have to use the sleep/wake button (home button does nothing)to get the phone to respond, then use the home button to return to the main menu. This does not happen 100% of the time and I can't determine the trigger.
    Thanks,
    Donna

  • IPhone 5s IOS 7.0.4 Cannot empty voice mail

I can't seem to delete voicemail. Any suggestions?

I posted some of the varied solutions I found here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5369936?start=17&tstart=0
To make it easier, this is the text I posted:
I've been reading and researching this the last several hours on various threads, and users have complaints from all carriers (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-mobile) and even in some cases past issues with different iOS and iPhones... one thing is consistent - it is the iPhone, not the carrier. So let's move on.
To all, several suggestions are reported with varying success amongst users:
    A) Delete 1 voicemail. Scroll down to bottom, select Deleted Messages, Select Clear All for the 1 voicemail. Repeat. (basically delete then delete, one at a time. This one worked for me!)
A1) If the "Clear All" is greyed out at first, select then deselect the message, and "Clear All" should be blue and selectable.
    B) Call AT&T (or whoever your carrier is) and request them to "reset your visual voicemail" or a "voicemail system reset". Reference this help thread if you need to (see note by Brucku). Solved for 2 other people. The thread is here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5327914?start=30&tstart=0
    C) Call your own voicemail manually (call 1 or call your own #) (circa early 90s) and delete each message manually through the voice prompts (press 7 to delete, for AT&T at least). You may need to make sure to "listen to saved messages" as some are lurking in there. Reportedly solved for quite a few, but not working for many others.
    D) Something convoluted about deleting the Visual Voicemail message, then Clear All, then enter Airplane mode, restart the phone (home + power button), then turn off Airplane mode. Few said worked, but most said it didn't. (I tried several variations of this to no effect).
    E) Reset "Network Settings". (note: this will reset wifi passwords, but phone is fine just don't Reset All!) Reboot phone. Delete messages as you would. Worked for some.
    F) Drop iPhone in toilet. All Visual Voicemails should disappear. Works for all who are willing to part with phone.
Hope this is helpful. So far sol'n "A" is working for me, and this was affecting 2 phones in my household. Will update if it reverts and I have to do "F". Cheers!!

  • Retrieving voice mail a second time

I have an Iphone 4S.  I am unable to retrive a voicemail after listening to it the first time.  I tried what was suggested on your site - tap phone, tap voicemail, tap the phone number of the voicemail in question.  It did not work.
    Thanks

Is this visual voicemail stored on the phone, or standard voicemail stored by the carrier?

  • Cannot get e-mail

Yesterday all my e-mail accounts connected to my iPhone5 were working fine.  Today I am receiving the "Cannot Get Mail, the connection to the server failed".  I tried re-setting my wifi connection but that didn't help.  Any suggestions?  (I also cannot retrieve e-mail from my iTouch which also was working fine yesterday)

MSN has been having Hotmail problems for a couple days.  I can access it through the MSN mobile browser and signing into Hotmail, but the MAIL button gives me the server error as well.  I've tried deleting and reestablishing.  I am hoping the problem will remedy when MSN gets their issues resolved.  See the status update here.  https://status.live.com/detail/hotmail

  • Cannot retrieve email from Mail account on iCloud

SInce Tuesday, Sept 11th I have been unable to retrieve my messages on my iCloud mail account.  Mail doesn't work on my MacBook Pro or any of my devices (iphone or ipad).  When I try to log on to iCloud I can see my calendar and contacts, however I cannot access my mail.  When I ran Connection Doctor I get the following message:
"Trying to log in to this iCloud IMAP account failed.  Verify that the username and password are correct.  Also verify that the server supports Apple Token authentication.  If it does not, choose an appropriate authentication setting in the Advanced tab of the Account preferences."
Mail continues to place this email account in an offline position moments after I click to take it online.
I've read some reports of others having this problem occur on Tuesday as well.  Is this an iCloud issue?  Please advise.

You can try deleting the account on your iphone and setting it up again.
