Cannot rip one of my CD's

On one of my cds I get a message that says 'Never Stop Couldn't Convert, You don't have write access to your iTunes Media folder or a folder within it."I have done what it said, File>Get Info.  And it says I have Write and Read, but still cannot rip, get same message again.

Have you tried restarting iTunes or your computer?  The message you quote (I have never seen it) just tells me permissions are not set correctly for your drive.  There's nothing I can think of that would make any particular CD produce that message.  Try importing another CD and see if you get the same message.
You could try another ripper such as XLD or Max, but really that message, if correct, is indicating a permissions error.  Either permissions are set wrong or iTunes has it wrong.
The other thing may be there is a bigger issue with your computer, but let's try to narrow it down first.

I have tried to fix it. However, it is not work. The methods i have used which are
(from: DT20Three) open windows media player, click Organise -> Manage Libraries -> Music and make sure you aren't referencing any unavailable locations. For me, I was referencing an old hdd location for my music. Remove this dead location and update
your default save location and all is good.
(From Vivian Xing) You can also try the following steps:
    1. Load Windows Media Player.
    2. Click Tools\options\devices\ then choose properties of the CD reader and enable Digital for both ripping and playback, uncheck "Use error correction", click OK.
    3. Click Rip music tab, change the Audio Quality to another value (higher or lower than 128kbps). Click OK and then try to rip.
(from Roi A. _) Edit: Also there is a problem with the Rip music tab: 1- nothing happens when i click change save location and it doesn't show the place where it saves now. 2- if I change a setting in the Rip tab and click save or apply, it says "The settings
for ripping music could not be applied."
(from Vivan Xing) I suggest resetting it as below:
    1. Open Control Panel/Programs and Features.
    2. Click "Turn Windows features on or off" in the left pane.
    3. Expand "Media Features", uncheck "Windows Media Player". Click "Yes" to continue, and click OK to quit. Then Restart.
Note: If you turn off WMP, Windows Media Center will be turned off either. You may need to re-configure settings for Windows Media Center after re-enabling it.
    4. Open "Turn Windows features on or off" again. Turn on the features "Windows Media Player" and "Windows Media Center". Restart.
    5. Launch Windows Media Player, initialize the program.
You can also try restoring Media Library as Zachd mentioned.
[The only one method I didn't try is Insert the Windows 7 DVD, it is because I scared if I click install, I might loose all the files in my computer]
Please, I hope there is someone can solve my problem.
    Thank you.

I'm having a lot of issues with firefox and cannot figure out how to get help. It began when I updated to 13. I get all kinds of ad popups, I cannot play one game on FaceBook called Farm Town at all, and I keep getting an AVG popup about cookies that I cannot get rid of. These issues are causing me to use Chrome very often even though I like Fox better. I've searched and searched how to get help and cannot find anything. How does one get personal technical help?? These issues do not happen in Chrome at all. Thanks.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br /><br />

  • Cannot forward one page PDF files from mail app

My earlier topic had incorrect problem report so I've created a new topic.
The problem is i cannot forward one page PDF file from mail apps. I use imap set up for my work email.
Multi page PDFs, photos, docs, numbers, all forward OK for both windows and Mac formats.

Update: I hade had a reply from the Good Reader app developer saying this is a known issue even for them. However, they don't know if Apple will fix this or not.
Basically mail app treats all one page PDF as if it's an image and will forward it the same as it would an image. Any non-apple based mail programs will have issues viewing this file..

  • Suddenly I cannot access one website

All of a sudden I cannot access one website at www.countrywalkers.com from any of the three Macs on my network. Two of them are wireless and one is ethernet-cabled
I work for them so it would be helpful if I could do so. I e-mailed them and they have confirmed that other Mac users can access their website without any problem and that they have certainly not blocked me from accessing their website.
The connection to this website fails using Safari, Firefox and Netscape and Firefox and IE via VPC on my g5 iMac, Safari and Firefox on a G4 Powerbook and a G4 Tower.
I connect to the internet via a 3Com router which works perfectly except for this glitch.
I have changed nothing in my set-up and have been able to access this website uninterruptedly for about 10 years, until about two weeks ago.
I have used ping, lookup and traceroute in Network Utility to try and work out what is wrong. In the ping test, all the packets go missing. The lookup gives information which means nothing to me. The traceroute test shows asterisks at stages 2, 5 and 13 onwards, meaning I suppose that this is where the connection to the remote URL is faiiling.
What does this all mean and what can I do about it?
There seem to be a lot of posts on this issue, almost all of them unresolved, and hope that I have posted in the right place.
I do not have anything like PeerGuardian.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Suddenly I cannot text one specific contact

Suddenly I cannot text one specific contact. They can text me and we can both call each other. My service provider shows no record of texts being sent, even though they appear to be sent from my iphone 4s. Can anyone help?

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • Cannot rip some cds with itunes

I have been ripping all my cds and transferring them to my ipod. But I am finding that I cannot rip some CDs, such as the newest Korn and Chemical Brothers. I put the CD in and iTunes doesn't recognize it.
Is there some way I can get iTunes to rip these CDs?

ok, this is an odd question, can you play the CD? not rip it, just play it. if you can, there's a free program out there called audacity made for recording anything that comes out of your speakers. it was originally made because people wanted to play video games on the internet and record the music from the games. You could easilly record the music with it as something plays the CD and then export to an mp3.
edit: I just checked with a google search and if you just type in audacity the first thing is it. It's a good program, plus it's open source, so it's free.

  • I cannot text one number in my phone that I have in the past...

Since last week I cannot text one number in my phone, yet if I move my SIM into another phone it sends... any ideas? have tried wiping the SIM, re-starting the phone...

Nevermind! I found out I can get a docking station that you can hook up from there to charge it! YEAH!

  • IPhone cannot text one specific number - help appreciated?

    Hi everyone,
So the problem is that I cannot text one specific number (that I text on a daily basis); or rather the text is not getting through to that number... We can call each other and they can text me; but whenever I text them the SMS seems to go through fine on my phone but they never receive it. Texts to other numbers seem to be getting through fine and it happened pretty suddenly.
Any suggestions? I have already performed a Network Reset in the iPhone settings. Could this just be an issue with T-mobile? If so who should I contact about it to alert them - their 'customer care' team?
    _Problem Details_
    My info:
Phone - iPhone 3G with the latest software update that is commercially available through iTunes (I think that this is OS 3.1.3)
    Network - O2
    Location - Manchester, UK
    Their info:
    Phone - Nokia 2330
    Network - T-mobile
    Location - Manchester, UK
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
    indierocklad

I can send the text, whether in reply or as a normal message; and it appears to go through. No problems or issues seem to exist according to my phone. Because of this I am very much in agreement with you on your point that it is likely to be their phone/network...
Not too sure about other T-mobile users as I'm not certain which of my contacts are with T-mobile (most people seem to use O2, Orange or Vodafone!)
I have reset my phone and this made no difference to my SMS attempts
I thought it might be a number block too, but phone calls get through fine and surely that would be prevented if my number was accidentally blocked?
Thanks for your help I'll get my friend to contact T-mobile tonight...

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address then see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

  • Cannot text one contact

I cannot text one contact, my father, who is on the same account as me.  I have Moto X, contact has iPhone 5.  Have deleted contact and turned off/on phone.  Texts from either end do not go through.

Does your father receive texts from other people?  Could he possibly have you blocked (inadvertently or otherwise?).  Call Verizon customer service and have them check the provisioning on his line to ensure texting is fully enabled.
Is he trying to send you an iMessage text?  Have him turn off iMessages and send a regular text.

  • Cannot rip dvd

I have a DVD with a slideshow of a bunch of photos from my wedding that I want to RIP - or - import , as it were;  into imovie so I can grap parts of it for a video I'm building.  No matter what I do, no matter how many avenues I go down, no matter how many posts I read in this forum with people arguing back and forth about how easy or hard it is or what simple little free apps you need to download .......NOTHING works.  ALL of the "free" apps are bulls**t.  they watermark your work or give you one little clip of your movie unlees you buy the full $39.99 version.
There are things I really like about this Imac and things I really hate....like this.  This should be so simple - yet it is not.
I'm not even sure if I'm asking a question or just ranting about this whole hting.  I guess I'm asking a question.  Does anyone REALLY know how to do this ?
I'm seriously about to drive to the apple store and plunk down the dvd on the counter.
(lol.....the posters that laugh and say how simple this is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS leave out hugely important steps)

If the DVD is in the standard format of mpeg2 it is highly compressed and not intended for editing. You therefore have to 'reverse engineer' the material. You will experience some quality loss.
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D2187Z/A/quicktime-mpeg-2-playback-component-f or-mac-os-x
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3381
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.
