  • Cannot run X apps in a docker container

    Hi, I have a Dockerfile which enables me to run X apps.
    It works perfectly in Ubuntu, but not in Archlinux:
    FROM mascip/archlinux:2014.12.09
    # To avoid a bug with the filesystem: https://registry.hub.docker.com/u/base/arch/

    ENV HOME /home/abla
    WORKDIR /home/abla
    USER abla
    CMD /usr/bin/leafpad
    In order to run it, I do:
    $ docker build -t a1 .
    $ docker run -ti \
    -e DISPLAY -e XAUTHORITY=/tmp/.Xauthority -v /home/user/.Xauthority:/tmp/.Xauthority -v /tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix \
    a1 leafpad
    which works in Ubuntu (a Leafpad window opens), but not in Arch where I get:
    leafpad: Cannot open display:
    PS: I have a similar Docker container which runs leafpad in a Ubuntu container; the problem is exactly the same for that container too.
    PPS: the Dockerfile stems from here: http://fabiorehm.com/blog/2014/09/11/ru … th-docker/
    Edit: I need to make it work soon. I would appreciate any idea to investigate further. I find X11 magic very confusing.

    I have tried checking that the Xserver was running with
    $ ps aux | grep X
    and it wasn't (is that even possible, as things were displaying on my screen?)
    So I installed the whole xorg group:
    $ sudo pacman -Sy xorg
    After that, startx wouldn't start anymore, and I had to upgrade everything:
    $ sudo pacman -Syu
    which fixed the problem.
    Now the X server is running:
    $ ps aux | grep X
    grep: warning: GREP_OPTIONS is deprecated; please use an alias or script
    root 335 0.8 1.0 289376 42688 tty1 Ssl+ 06:46 0:01 /usr/lib/xorg-server/Xorg :0 -seat seat0 -auth /run/lightdm/root/:0 -nolisten tcp vt1 -novtswitch

    but Leafpad still won't be displayed and throws the same error.
    Any more ideas?

  • Cannot Use Blackberry App World / Icon disappeared

    I have lost App World.  I was prompted to update to a newer version, which I did (repeatedly!), and now it's gone and the icon is nowhere to be found.  I can find it listed under Applications but cannot use it.  I've tried all the tricks -- pull the battery, delete it and download it again, etc.  I've spent all day and it still doesn't work.  I've really about had it!

    Hi Trecex 13,
    Welcome to the Community,
    If you looking for the latest version of App World Download it from here http://blackberry.com/appworld
    But before that if you had installed any previous version then uninstall it this way :
    Options > Device > Application Management.
    Scroll to BlackBerry AppWorld > Delete.
    Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a min, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
    Good Luck
    Prince

  • Cannot download blackberry app world apps - "enable cookies" error message keeps coming

    Hi,
    I have a Curve 3920, running v7.1.0 OS.
    Back in July I kept getting low memory messages and it kept getting stuck so I had to un-install apps such as Linkedin or What's App. Then I realized I only had 2GB memory so upgraded to a 16GB one.
    Now the blackberry works ok but it is impossible to re-install Linkedin or World Apps app or any other from Blackberry World interface, it keeps coming coming up with ""BlackBerry ID Services. We detect that cookies have been disabled in your browser. Please enable cookies in order to continue." error message, even though I have correct set-up in the device browser option set-up menu.
    However I successfully managed to download What's App, but not from app world page.
    Any idea of what can be done?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
    Please try this sequence:
    1) Remove both AppWorld AND the Identity App from your BB
    KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone
    If it requests that you reboot the BB, do so
    2) Do a Batt-Pull reboot (power on, remove battery, wait, insert battery, wait), even if redundant to the one you did in step 1.
    3) Install (on your BB) a fresh copy of AppWorld (during which a fresh version of the Identity App should also install)
    http://blackberry.com/appworld/download
    Again, if it requests to reboot, do so.
    4) Do another Batt-Pull reboot
    5) See if it now works.
    Cheers!

  • Cannot update blackberry app world. It shows some weird error.

    Here is the story. I was using os7 and and 2 days back I upgraded it to 7.1. As usual after upgrading the os, I updated pre installed apps. Like Facebook and bbm and did a re start. After re staring I found that there is no Facebook and bbm icon. I went to app world and searched for it. At the bbm screen there was no button, no re install, delete or anything. On facebook page there was a re install button through which I re installed it and again did a re boot. But again the same thing. So I though of re installing the firmware. I wiped the device via bbsak and installed the firmware via loader.exe (later I also tried with blackberry desktop manager). Now after upgrading when I went to update my app world, it re directed me to browser where I clicked download and then an error came up. I have attached a pic. Now I am unable to upgrade my blackberry app world. I tried several things like removing app world and again trying to Download it from browser, re installing firmware, downgrading and then again upgrading to 7.1 but all in vain. Please help, as I don't have any clue what's wrong and what to do. <br />
    P. S: It's my first blackberry, and I bought it unlocked 5 days back. And I don't use BIS. I tried downloading app world via WiFi and via mobile data.<br />
    <br />
    Here is the error shown<br />
    <br />
    Error: Invalid manifest or application descriptor. <br />
    <br />
    The &quot;MIDlet-Name&quot; attribute is missing<br />

If device prompt for a restart do it .If still unable to view BBM icon on your Homescreen check this Knowledge Base :

  • Problem with Adobe AIR 2.7, cannot run any apps anymore

    http://english.sandrostudio.com/a-strange-problem-with-adobe-air.html
    Above is the error I get: This application requires a version of Adobe AIr which cannot be found. Please download the latest version of the runtime from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair or contact the application author for an updated version"
    I could run Adobe AIR previously without any problem. i checked for a solution online, in this forum, It seems it's a problem not so uncommon. I receive the same error when trying to uninstall Adobe AIR (?!). So I am basically stuck. Any help here? Any advice? Is there an upcoming new version of the installer?
    I need Adobe air for many important applications I use.

  • The App World of PLAYBOOK is missing!

    Some days before, i cannot use my app world normally,  it stay at Background image,no application icons came out.
    So,i wipe data yesterday, but the app world is missing when my playbook finished the installion, and i update to the lastest version ,i also can not find the app world .
    How can i do for my playbook! no app world ,no applications! the playbook will be a mp3/4 player! no!!!!!!!

    I also updated to the BlackBerry PlayBook version 1.0.5 Bundle 2304. I used the App World several times to install (and possibly delete) applications.
    I installed an app successfully, then I was no longer able to see the icons in App World. All I see is the background image.
    After rebooting the PlayBook, App World is still blank. However, the notification icons related to updating apps in App World are present. Clearing the notifications do not change the status of App World. The notifications eventually reappear in the status area. At least one of these notifications are for a program that was previously updated to the alerted version -- the notice still appears after the app was updated. (The app was updated prior to this current problem with App World.)
    [Additional Information: My PlayBook was in development mode since I was testing an app I developed. The sample app was signed and I do not have a debug token installed on my machine yet. Disabling the development mode has no change to this problem.]
    [Additional App Info: JQuery Mobile App is now a completely blank screen. I tried to update it in App World prior to this problem and was given a message that the PlayBook could not connect with App World. However, soon after this attempt, I was able to download the BlackBerry News and CrackBerry apps. Immediately after installing these apps, I no longer had access to App World -- it is now a background image.]
    There does not appear to be a way to erase App World from the PlayBook to reinstall it. A security wipe may be the only way to restore the app.
    I will continue to diagnose this problem. Any help would be appreciated.
    UPDATE: There is another thread that resolves this topic for some people by typing RST on the App World screen. This does not resolve my problem (even after rebooting). http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook/App-World-stopped-working/td-p/1139737

  • Can't login to App World

    I have a Torch 9810, from RIM headquarters, not from a carrier. I should be loaded with all the latest software, I cannot login to App World from my BB, there is no login button. I have deleted, and re-loaded App World and there is no difference.
    Is this possible? When I go to App World on-line, I can't access all my handset apps. Only some of them and then I have to download one at a time. Can anyone help...please!

    Hello,
    Unfortunately, a successful search for possible solutions depends on an accurate problem description, which in your case would include the accurate and complete wording of the error message, including all punctuation.
    jenbarth wrote:
    but the app world would say that their was a problem with the current session and to login to continue but the login screen doesn't come up.
    Unfortunately, I cannot tell, from that, what the exact error message is...and it makes a huge difference. Therefore, I recommend you go here:
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
    And search on the exact error message. Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message or code, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.
    Good luck and let us know!
