Cannot run FF due to Application security component. What is it?

During download of FF 4.0, saw this block:
"Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features."
I have no idea what that means or where to start.

I have been receiving the following error message when trying to access Firefox:

Firefox will not open any site. I am using a MacBook. The hard drive is not full. I recently had to start using a vpn to get remote access to my desktop at work. Then it wouldn't load so I had to install something to trick it into accepting the vpn. I do not recall what this was as I got this from a person at our helpdesk at work. I hadn't had any trouble for several days, then all of a sudden, Firefox won't open anything, no websites, no email, etc. I have been using Safari as so far it seems to be working. I do not wish to continue to use Safari and for portions of my job, I need to download things and using Firefox is the only browser that works with the software program I am using.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

When Firefox loads I get an error saying 'the applications security component could not initiallize'. I have a 64-bit PC based system.

When I load Firefox I get an error message that tells me that the application security component could nt be initiallized. The suggestion from the error meddage was to see if there is a read/write restriction for the application profile directory. I have looked and found no such restriction on that directory. Firefox will load and allow me to look on the web, but many of the functions do not work. I have a 64-bit system using Windows 7 (64-bit version).

Rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case there is a problem with the file.
You may have to rename cert8.db (cert8.db.old) as well.
Firefox will create new files.
The file cert8.db stores user certificates and intermediate certificates send by websites, so if you have certificates that you want to keep then you may want to export them now and import them after having removed cert8.db.

If that works then you can delete the renamed files or undo the changes if you want to revert the process.
Also make sure that you allow the loopback connection with the Software Security Device in the firewall.<br />

Once I click the "OK button" at the bottom of the alert box firefox starts but does not act right. For instance it will not let me look for software updates. When I click on "Check for Updates" from the "Help" drop down menu I get a message stating: "There were problems checking for, downloading, or installing this update. Firefox could not be updated because: Update XML file malformed (200). You can update firefox manually by visiting this link and downloading the latest version."

First, use a specific [[Managing profiles|profile]] for Firefox 4.0 Beta and keep your current one for Firefox 3.6 to prevent interferences between both versions.

it then opens and will not let me click anything, just opens the homepage and stops, tried reinstalling and it still doesn't work.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

During installation of iTunes appears an error message: Itunes cannot run because some files are missing. What can I do?

Recently I received an iPad2 as a gift. I had iTunes because an iPod I had. First I put some productivity apps through my computer. Then I bought some other games apps through WiFi. then when I try to synchronize, I lost my productivity apps and just keep those buy on WiFi. Now I try to install iTunes again, and what I received at the end is a message that tells me "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes".
I did it a couple of times. Same result. One of this times, I also retired those programs recommended on help page: iTunes, QuickTime, Bonjour, Apple Mobile, etc. (in the order indicated)
Your help will be appreciated.

Cannot run scripts via GNOME applications menu

I have a few posts in the applications menu, like "Android Notifier Desktop" and the commando runs a script: "/usr/share/android-notifier-desktop/run.sh".
That doesnt work anymore, I have to run it via the terminal now. I think it happend when I upgraded to GNOME 2.32. What to do?

This issue can be caused by a problem with the file c:\windows\system32\dwmapi.dll
The file dwmapi.dll is a Vista file and should not be present in Windows XP.

Probably means you have more than 2 activated copies of CS2 installed, or are trying to use 2 copies at the same time.
