Cannot run zpool (zfs feature) command in Solaris 10 6/06

Hi, I couldnt run ZPOOL command in Solaris 10 6/06. It said command not found.
May I know what should I do? My Solaris 10 version provide Solaris zoning features, but no ZFS feature provided.
How?

check your PATH- the zpool command is in the /usr/sbin directory.
Also, double check you have the zfs packages-
#pkginfo | grep zfs
system SUNWzfskr ZFS Kernel (Root)
system SUNWzfsr ZFS (Root)
system SUNWzfsu ZFS (Usr)

  • Zpool wont import: /var/cluster/run/HAStoragePlus/zfs not a valid directory

    I have this two-node Solaris 10 x86 cluster that refuses to fail the HASP zpool over to the second node.
    On node 2, log complains that /var/cluster/run/HAStoragePlus/zfs is not a valid directory:

    In fact, on node 2 this folder is missing, i.e. the /var/cluster/run/HAStoragePlus folder isn't there.
    If I create that folder, and the zfs folder inside it, then switchover works flawlessly both ways, but if I reboot node 2, that folder
    gets cleared and the problem is back again. Looks like a bug to me, but I perused sunsolve without finding anything.
    This is Sun Cluster 3.2 update 2 with latest patchset, running on a Solaris 10 x86 update 7 (latest).
    I already tried removing and recreating the HASP resource, no way.
    Any hint will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    After many sleepless nights looking at this problem, I ended up solving it by myself right 30 minutes after posting here!!
    The problem was due to ZFS plugin not being configured in /etc/cluster/eventlog/eventlog.conf !!
    I think this happened because I installed HASP on node 1 before node 2 joined the cluster for the first time.
    Should be marked as a bug IMHO...
    Thanks

  • RBAC and zlogin, zpool, zfs commands - doesn't work

    Question about RBAC and the zlogin, zpool, and zfs commands. If you go into SMC and look at the rights being assigned to a user, on the left side you have a long list of commands that are denied to the user. Not listed in /usr/bin or /usr/sbin are the zpool and zfs commands. I can assign a user a very limited set of commands, and ones that remain in the left column (such as lustatus or format, for example) remain forbidden and cannot be used. However, commands like zfs create will still work, even though explicitly not granted through RBAC. There is a link in /usr/sbin for zfs to /sbin, and I added the /sbin directory to the list of commands denied, but with the link in place, the command still works for the user. When I logout of the session then go back into SMC after logging back in, the /sbin directory I added is gone again and the commands still work. I tried creating a new right but the same thing happens. Similar things happen with commands located in /usr/ucb which are all allowable since they cannot be explicitly denied. How to deal with this situation?
    thanks
    mc

    If zfs believes there is an active pool using the disk, then even the -f flag will not work. What is the output of 'zpool status'? If it shows disk11 as a hot spare, and you don't want it as a hot spare, then use 'zpool remove'. Note that 'remove' will only work if it is in AVAIL state and not INUSE state.

  • Cannot run command window

    In Windows I would expect to call up a seperate command window with the following, but it appears to freeze up. What am I doing wrong?
    import java.io.*;
    public class command {
      public static void main(String[]args) {
        try {
          Process runprogram = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("C:\\windows\\system32\\cmd.exe");
          try {

          catch(InterruptedException e){}
        catch(IOException e) {
          System.err.println("Cannot run command window");
    }

    What about this...
        Process proc = null;
        try
          proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("start cmd");
          proc.waitFor();
        catch(Exception e)
          e.printStackTrace();
        }Some dukies would be nice next time ;-)

  • Cannot run linux commands since Snow Leopard upgrade

    Hi,
    I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6) from Leopard . . . The issue is that I can no longer run some of linux commands in the same directories where I have run them before. Two cases, chmod and rm
    chmod a+x or chmod 777, I get prompts that indicate that I am not running the command properly? What's that all about?
    The other example is a recursive remove that I use all the time to get rid of backup files . . .
    rm -rf .bak or rm-rf ./bak Neither works anymore and I'm starting to doubt myself . . . when I actually found this issue I was not retyping, just reopening the command shell, and using the arrow to get back to the command(s).
    Help! I am a professional developer, but this is really slowing me down. I can't even sudo anymore.
    Also, what is wheel? When I ls-al, I see the owner is user, but the next column appears to be a group, wheel.

    I suspect, from the examples cited, you just ran them incorrectly. For instance, you have given here
    rm-rf ./bak
    which won't work as there is no space between the command "rm" and the options "-rf" (which are for "recursive" and "force"), so the shell sees the command as being "rm-rf" and there ain't no sech thing. The other remove command is for a file named ".bak" and again I suspect you have no such file, so the command won't work. If you want to remove a particular file the easy way is to just type rm, a space, and then drag the file into the Terminal. You should not need the option to force for a file created by yourself, nor do you need recursive for a single file.
    The chmod commands need something to work on, for instance
    chmod 777 /Users/francine/Desktop/misc/driveicons
    changes the permissions of the folder "driveicons" from drwxr-xr-x to drwxrwxrwx and works just fine. If you have used a command incorrectly, using the arrow keys to move back thru the history won't help, you'll just get your incorrectly used command repeated.
    I think you just don't really understand what it is you have done and are doing. My guess is that you copied some commands you found or someone gave you, without knowing much about what the Terminal is, what a shell is, how the shell works, and so on. That is all more than a little risky, especially if you are using chmod and remove commands.
    And yes, there is a group wheel. However, generally the wheel group has root (system) as the user.

    In that case you should probably check that no other packages are missing files with
    pacman -Qkk 2>&1 | grep "No such file or directory"
    Any packages that report that they're missing files, you should reinstall.

  • Is it possible to run Acrobat3D from the command line?

    I'd like to know if it is possible to run Arobat3D from the command line in batch mode. I'm interested in knowing if this is possible in either a windows or unix environment.
    My objective is to convert CAD data e.g. CATIA V5 or DXF etc to PDF, in batch mode without using the Acrobat3D interface itself.
    I know that it's possible to run a batch process from within Acrobat3D itself, therefore one solution may be to invoke those batch processes from the command line.
    I've looked through the other listings on this forum and seen this question asked previously, but I've not seen any responses that suggest this is even a feasible concept.

    As of now, it's not possible in the cmd-mode to just remain connected and not stream.
    But the reason you want to do that is because of the long start-up time. That 20 sec time can be divided into:
    1. launch time
    2. time to start encoding (after pressing start button) -> cannot be reduced even if 'connected only' feature is available in cmd-line
    Below are tips you can use to reduce this 20 sec of time:
    1. Lesser the no. of devices connected to the system, shorter is the launch time. Disable the devices which are not to be used in the session.
    2. Try using device indexes (0, 1, 2, etc) instead of device names in the profile. Indexes might change after you disable some of the devices.
    3. Use the profile with correct settings, to avoid any validation errors.
    4. Higher the video size, higher is the overall time. Small sizes take lesser time to start.
    Let me know if you see any improvement in the startup time.

    Hi,
    When I run a jspx file in Jdeveloper, I get errors as follow.

  • The result of id command in Solaris 10

    Hi Guys,
    I was trying to install oracle database in Solaris 10 8/11.
    at the end of installation where we supposed to execute the root.sh in the ORACLE_HOME it is said that I am not root.
    Actually I was already connected as root.
    in this root.sh command, it actually validates the user which trying to execute it.
    here's the validation part:
    RUID=`/usr/bin/id|$AWK -F\( '{print $2}'|$AWK -F\) '{print $1}'`
    if [ ${RUID} != "root" ];then
      $ECHO "You must be logged in as root to run root.sh."| $TEE -a $LOG
      $ECHO "Log in as root and restart root.sh execution."| $TEE -a $LOG
      exit 1
    fiapparently the result of id in this Solaris I'm using is:
    uid=0(#root) gid=0(root)
    that is why the validation is always failed because it always compares root against #root.
    is this something new in Solaris 10 8/11?
    anyway, once I fixed the script, everything is running fine.
    btw, this is a Solaris 10 X64 installed inside a virtual box.
    Regards,
    Adhika

    Hi Abrante,
    Thanks a lot!
    You're right I changed the shell on the /etc/passwd but I want to maintain the old value so I just comment out the original line.
    I didn't think that it will still be read like this.
    is there any way to comment out lines in /etc/passwd?
    Thank you,
    Adhika

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected audio configuration problem?

    I've got Windows XP, recently did a system restore and was forced to re-install iTunes afterwards. After installation, I click the iTunes icon and get a pop up "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration." I went to the iTunes support page and found a similar trouble shooting scheme. I applied both options and both failed. I tried re-installing again to repair, but after the repair, the problem still remains. I found a major difference in the trouble shooting scheme however and I wander if that could be it. The web page shows quick time's audio channels as "Stereo (L R)", however my quick time control panel doesn't feature that channel. Instead, there are 7 "LayoutTags" to choose from, each containing 7 digits. I'm no computer whiz, so I'm going to need help on this one.

    replying to lowriderpharaoh.
    hmmmmm. it's sounding like you've still got a damaged version of QuickTime in the PC. (or at least, there's something going wrong with the quicktime.)
    let's try swapping out the QuickTime again. we'll take a few additional explicit precautions this time.
    Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
    Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
    Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
    next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
    switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
    go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
    if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?
    if it doesn't launch properly, are you still getting the unusual display effects in the QT preferences?

    I downloaded Jdev 11g and followed instructions for [Oracle Fusion Store Front Demo Application|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/samples/fod/index.html].
    The schema and sample data is installed successfully. I am able to compile and build both model and UI projects in StoreFrontModule.jws.
    When I run the StoreFrontUI, I am getting below error. Can you please help.D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\system\system11.1.1.0.31.51.88\DefaultDomain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd

    Hi,
    I am noticing a problem when running the FOD application, which though not severe, I just thought I will run it by all you experts out here.
    When the application opens in the browser, I am unable to see any of the pictures / photos of the products being displayed....they all show that red-crossed-error thing.
    Just today I noticed that an error is also getting generated during the application execution:
    [java] SEVERE: Error initializing the JMX FRamework SPI "oracle.as.jmx.framework.standardmbeans.spi.JMXFrameworkProviderImpl"
    [java] java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
    [java]      at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)
    [java]      at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39)
    Anybody knows what this can be about and how to resolve the same?
    I saw the comment above which refers to cleaning up the deployment folder, and I searched my d:\oracle\middleware folder for any folder named drs, but nothing showed up.
    Being new to jdeveloper, can someone please tell me the exact steps to fix this error please?
    Regards,
    Hemant

  • How to Setup an ACL over a Command in solaris 2.6

    Hi all,
    Has anyone have an idea on how to setup an ACL over a command
    in solaris 2.6 . i.e: to force a user (or a group) to enter a
    password to run a command (like mount and others).
    Thanks for your help.
    haed98.
    [email protected]

    Hi head98,
    You can set ACL using setfacl commands. This way you can exclusively assign read/write/execute permissions on command that you wish. But ACL doesn't prompt for passwords or you can set passwords using ACL. One way of doing this will be to create wrapper for commands which will prompt for passwd, compare them with /etc/shadow and then execute the real command.
    Hope this helps, Thanks. SUN/DTS

  • Help! job scheduled in DB13 cannot run successfully

    Hi! I am a basis administrator of an automobil company.
    Job scheduled in DB13 in our PRD system cannot run successfully.
    We have Central instance(ci) and Database instance(db) installed on seperated hosts. We use SUN cluster 3.1 technology.
    The problem occurs after my college restarted the whole system accidentally. After that, all the job scheduled in DB13 report the same error,job log looks like:
    Job started
    Step 001 started (program RSDBAJOB, variant &0000000000192, user ID ***)
    No application server found on database host - rsh will be used
    Execute logical command BRCONNECT On host orahost
    Parameters: -u / -c -f check
    BR801I BRCONNECT 6.20 (113)
    BR252E Function fopen() failed for '/oracle/PR1/sapcheck/cduuoiij.chk' at location main-8
    BR253E errno 2: No such file or directory
    I manually type the 'rsh' command on ci to invoke 'brconnect' on db. It works all right. And I check the rfc destination 'SAPXPG_DBDEST_ORAHOST' in sm59 , it's normal. There is no gateway instance on database server.
    The parameter 'SAPDBHOST' = orahost (the database server is  called orahost)
    the parameter 'SAPLOCALHOST' = cihost(the central instance is located on cihost)
    Any suggestion is very appreciated.
    Thx!

    Hi Joe,
    DB13 will run only on application server as for that matter any SAP program. It will then connect to database at OS level. I mean you normal reports also fetch data from database for which they have to connect to DB  but they all run on application server. The problem is coming in connection to database through the application layer.
    Please again review the OSS notes sent by Sunil and me. I think a greater focus on Sunil`s notes should help you out.
    Regards.
    Ruchit.
