Cannot save alias. The alias cannot be saved at this time.
I'm trying to create an alias and cannot. Error is title of this post. I've searched this issue in the support community and only see similar issues as recent as 2013 and 2012. I'm wondering if there is any support for this issue. Thanks!
Be sure you do not have more than 3 aliases (or 2 if you are trying to make a new on). iCloud: Create or change email aliases
You can have up to three active email aliases, and you can delete or deactivate (turn off) an email alias at any time.
If that is not the issue, contact Apple so they can see what's going on with your account.
http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a490a
Note: If you had five MobileMe email address aliases when you moved your account to iCloud, you retain the five aliases. However, once you delete one of your five aliases, you can’t create a new one to replace it.

Just upgraded to Mavericks. Now I cannot access scans from my hp scanner. After it complete the scans and I try to save as tiff, jpeg or pdf I get a either a grey blur or a message that says cannot save because the file cannot be written to. I did not have any problems before the upgrade. I would greatly appreciate any light shed on this.
Go to the HP site and look for drivers for your scanner. It apparently needs an updated driver to work with Mavericks.

"this alias cannot be saved at this time"
I've been trying to add an alias to my icloud account since september.
I have 2 of 3 available.
it should work.
But every time I try it said "this alias cannot be saved at this time"
The only answers I've found in these forums is "icloud is still being rolled out, just wait"
That's not an acceptable answer, especially since I got the official email that my icloud was active, months ago.
There must be another answer!

But on the iCloud Web server, it only suggests or enables the creation of @icloud.com aliases already, no more @me.com !
That's so, but you won't be able to create a new alias until your account is updated. There's no way of knowing how long this will take: you should get an email telling you when this is done (though I didn't) but you could check by sending yourself a message to [email protected] from time to time. When it stops bouncing you may be good to go with the aliases. -
I can't use Photobooth - when I open the app, I get the message: "Photo Booth couldn't save your photos - Photo Both encountered an error when trying to save your photos. You photos cannot be saved at this time."
i tried adding user macintosh hd/users/your_user/pictures/"photo booth" but still photo booth is not working and even images in photo booth cant be deleted they keep coming backBack up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box markedAllow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
{ sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select
▹ Restart
from the menu bar. -
Cancel cannot save to the file because it is in use
Hi guys,
From a couple of days ago i cannot export ANY pdf file in InDesign withouth the "cannot save to the file because it is in use by one or more background tasks". It seems there is a "temporary files" are saving. So the trick is to delete the file from the Finder and save the PDF again. It is annoying that i cannot replace the pdf directly with the same name.
Can i override this situation?
Any help or ideas?
ThanksThanks for the fast reply
Actually i learn before from a forum that could be an issue so i take care so the file is not marked. Nevertheless it keeps telling me the file is in use. What could it be?
Cheers -
Photo Booth encountered an error when trying to save your photos. Your photos cannot be saved at this time.
How do i fix this?I had the same issue, as suggested by others on similar question I checked my permissions and they were fine.
This worked for me
1) First saved the photos from my current Photo Booth library
2) Deleted the photo booth library folder
3) Created a new admin user
4) Copy the photo booth library from the new user and paste it in your user (where the previous photo booth library was)
5) You can then delete the new user you created.
*this is my first attempt here, so my bad if its not up to scratch* -

My biggest 'pain' at the moment is that every time I go to change then save a Photoshop CS3 file it says 'cannot save as the file as it has been left open or is in use by another application'
Rule Number One - NEVER go directly uinto the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it and making any change no matter how small can corrupt your library and cause data or photo loss
Exactly how were you trying to save a copy of your iPhoto library?
Albumdata.xml does not contain your photos - and again NEVER make any changes to the content of the iPhoto library - no dragging - no changes - never go into the library
We need to know exactly what you did
And probalby the easiest solution is to load your backup from before you messed things up
For reference after you get things working
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

Your Information cannot be saved at this time
Trying to setup a new account for my daughter and I keep getting this stupid error message: Your Information cannot be saved at this time
I am using my birth date since I will control the account, but it will not let me proceed.
Please help.I get the message that the info cannot be saved.
What's the precise text of that message please, elizabeth? (It's reminding me of one that can be related to a damaged SC Info file, but I'm not quite sure of that on the basis of the current description.) -

I cannot play my rented movie because itunes cannot locate where the original file, has anyone face this problem before? Where can I find the location of the downloaded movie?
What did you use to download it with? iPad? iPhone? Computer?
If it's an iPad/iPhone, play it using the videos app.
If on the computer, look on the left side of iTunes in the library under movies. -
Your information could not be saved at this time
I'm on the Edit Apple ID Details page of the App Store and it won't let me proceed. All it says is "your information could not be saved at this time".
What a useless error message. How can I get past this?I'm experiencing the very same thing. I assumed that the site was down, but it looks like there are multitudes of complaints about this. What's up Apple? I can't seem to find an answer to this online... Thanks!
