Cannot save files - ' do not have enough access privileges'
When I try and save a newly made file in Illustrator CS3, I get the error message - 'Can't save the illustration - you do not have enough access privileges'. I installed Leopard recently, and also upgraded my hard drive. I tried running Disk Permissions, but it didn't help.
Any ideas?
I had the exact same thing happen to me. But then I tried saving to desktop, and it no longer gave me that error. It turns out the drive that I was trying to save to had me as a different user name, and therefore with no privileges to that drive. The short term fix is use Command I on the drive you are saving to, click the lock at the bottom to unlock, and then check the box "Ignore ownership on this volume." For the long term fix, make sure you have permissions to all your volumes, and/or your user name matches the permissions on that volume.
Hope this helps.

Cannot Import CD - Do Not Have Enough Access Privileges
i've been importing my CDs to iTunes for years without hassle. but tonight, i backed up my entire library to a new external HD.
next, I redirected iTunes to use the backup iTunes Music folder (on the new HD) as the primary.
next, i imported about 12 CDs, but then... with one particular CD, it said, "no!"
in fact, the message was:
Error occured while converting the file "Why". You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.
iTunes could not save to your Music Folder because you do not have write access.
Check the permissions on you Music Folder and folders in your Music Folder, then try converting this file again.
i then tried three other CDs and they imported just fine.
anyone know what in heck is going on here? i'm fairly savvy with this stuff, but i have no idea if i messed anything up.
i tried to Repair Permissions using Disk Utility, but the option is grayed out. I tried Repair Disk while I was there, and it seemed to repair just fine.
any info would be very welcomed. thanks!thanks for the reply, Kay.
i did do the Get Info trick, but again, to no avail.
since i posted, i've imported about six more CDs without problem. this is an Annie Lennox CD i bought in the early 1990s.
I tried dragging the AIFF files from the CD onto my Mac, which worked fine. I was even able to import the AIFF files into iTunes. it recalled the song names, but not the artist/album info.
however, when I tried to convert the AIFF files to Mp3, it once again told me there was an error. it also mentioned that it could be the files "are not the correct file format."
ugh! thanks again for your help. I'll chalk it up as a loss. sorry, Annie, i love your music, but not enough to give me a headache! hehe -
Just recently getting error message when downloading podcasts. Says "The iTunes Library file cannot be save. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." Doesn't happen every time. Using Windows 7. What can I do? The files seem to be there but I don't know if they are being backed up to cloud.
Hi, DickmoAZ.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like a permission issue most likely with the iTunes Media folder. Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot this issue.

Can anyone help me with this problem. ITunes message," The iTunes library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." I have administrator account and transferred files from old PC. I downloaded new iTunes program on new PC. I synced my iPhone to new PC, no problem. I deleted old account after indicating shared files to new admin account. Can anyone help?
A belated reply, as the problems itunes has have discouraged me from using it much. If you uncheck the "read only" box, it doesn't stay that way! Next time you use it, the box comes up checked.
I'm still having that problem, even when I open iTunes as administrator.
I've yet to see the answer to this problem. I use itunes mostly to download audiobooks, and I'm ready to download more, and want to save them! -

I'm getting a message that reads 'The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." Why is this? And how can I fix it? I'm worried that I'm going to lose my entire library because of this.

Since installing the latest version of iTunes all my music files cannot be edited, and I cannot import new music files into iTunes. The messages says I do not have enough access privileges even though I am the administrator of the system. If anyone can help me sort this out I would be really grateful. I have checked the read and write privileges for all the iTunes folders and it all seems in order so I can't understand it.
In general, I am getting really frustrated with Apple. They seem to be getting ever more controlling in their approach to their consumers. I need to edit music file information as I am a dj. And why can't I import music, unless I buy it from iTunes? Most of all, why can't I use the devices I paid a lot of money for in the way I want to use them, and not be forced to coerced to use apple's fee paying services (iCloud, iTunes).
I have used apple computers since the early 1990's, but in the last year I have gotten rid of my iPhone and my iPad and replaced them with Android devices. Much better and much less control. Perhaps it is time to switch from Apple altogether.Hi

I didn't know that iTunes had a 64bit download. I have Windows 7 Home Premium with 64bit operation system. I downloaded the iTunes for 64bit and it seems to have corrected the problem. I haven't received the message yet since I did this.

"The iTunes library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." Help! This keeps coming up. I've not changed anything. What do I need to do to fix this?
Sounds like a Windows user privelidge problem. Are you using an administrator account on the PC?

I'm getting the message: The Itunes library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this opeation." What gives?
That can sometimes be produced by real-time back-up utilities/services interfering with writes to the iTunes library files.
Are you using a real-time backup? (Carbonite, Mozy, Black Blaze?) -

iPod Classic 80GB. Message reads ' iTunes library cannot be saved you do not have enough access privileges for this operation'. It says it has synced but it hasn't. Please help, I am not very tech minded.
See this article about troubleshooting the error message regarding access privelages. It may be preventing your iTunes library from being able to save/retain music you have recently imported to it, which may explain why no new content is being added to your device.
