Cannot save in jpeg format

Hi,
After opening a raw file in PSE editor it seems that I cannot save it in JPEG. The closest thing is JPG2000.
I'd like to save a few files in JPEG since I use Qimage to print and it looks like Qimage does not recognice CS2 files.
What am I missing here?

You might be in 16 bit mode. switch your image to 8 bit and try again.

Cannot save as jpeg in CS2 after exporting from lightroom

I'm so frustrated. This began happening only a couple times here and there after starting to use lightroom (can't remember if it was the 1.4 version, or the beta version). I don't think it's my photoshop program, since I have completely re-installed it twice and reinstalled onto my computer.
Anyway, now it's happening all the time. I export images from lightroom into CS2 to make final edits, sharpen for print, crop, etc and then photoshop will not let me save it as a jpeg. I can save as a psd, or a tiff, but not a jpeg. I have tried exporting in jpeg format, or tiff format, and everything is fine until I try to save either type as a jpeg. It lets me choose the quality, 10-12 etc, then when I click OK, A red box with "could not complete your request because of a program error" pops up.
I have Vista, edit in sRGB, export in sRGB, etc..... just don't know what to do since I NEED to be able to edit and save to send to print. Please help.

basically you delete the camera raw info put into the file that trips up CS2 (but not CS3!)

Cannot save to jpeg - file gets corrupted?

First let me say, I have searched through the forum and can't find the answer to what I am looking for. That is probably because I am not really sure what my problem is.
As of yesterday I cannot save a file to jpeg (using PS7)
I have done a virus scan and all the other regular checks but nothing is showing up.
Basically this is what I am doing.
Opening a new document - adding some designs, flattening document and then saving. I choose to save it as a jpeg and everything seems to go fine until I go to open up the saved document. Then there is nothing there.
Doesn't seem to matter if it is a new file or an old file. Same problem. (Mode is set to RGB-8bit)
Sometimes if I do a save as and give the file a completely new name a pop-up comes up and says the following:
Could not save as "C:\...\test.jpeg" because that document is currently open. Save using a different name, or close the document and try again.
Of course this makes no sense since I am doing a save as and giving the file a new name.
Can anyone help me? Or point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate it!

I have narrowed things down a bit.
It seems if I create a new doc 2400x3000 for example I can convert it to a jpeg no problem.
If I start with 3600x3600 I get the problem. Same steps as the above file with the only difference being the size.
Anyone have a solution for this as it seems like it is size related (note that I have created at this size before and never had this problem).

CS4 cannot save to jpeg

Suddenly I am unable to save .psd and .tif (maybe others) to .jpeg due to 'program error'. My 'solution' for the moment is to save the .psd using maximum compatibility, then import into Lightroom, then export from Lightroom as .jpeg (ugh!)
The .psd mode is 8-bit RGB. I have 155GB of space left on the HDD. I was able to save to .jpeg a few days ago, but not now.
Seems to me like a Photoshop bug. Is there a fix?

Cannot save any jpeg, tiff or other formats except document or template (suddenly today)

I created a file in InDesign and went back to it the next day and discovered that I only had two options for save or save as: InDesign CS5.5 document and InDesign CS5.5 template -- I am not able to save in any other file formats. I followed some online advice that said to hold down the ctrl + alt + shift key and when the dialog box came up chose to delete preferences-- it was said that would restore the original settings which did not happen. I am still only have two options (document of template) to save or save as. Any help is appreciated! Thank you

I see -- I just tried that and it worked, but I never had to do that before -- I don't know what happened! I have always been able to "save" or "save as" and there is a long list of choices there that have disappeared overnight! Thank you for the export work around -- I will use that until I can figure out how to get my other options back! Thank you for responding!!

Yosemite iPhoto cannot "save us" different format or size photo

I upgraded my iMac to iOS Yosemite, and upgraded my iPhoto to latest version. I cannot find the "Save As" command to save my photos in a different format and smaller sizes. Save As used to be an available command.

Hi, (Photoshop CS5 newbie)
I have been putting together a birthday cadr for someone and adding layer after layer with many his res images etc., I have saved the beast in the default PSD format and it weighs in at a massive 388,963 KB. Photoshop doesn't let me save in any other format, ie JPG or PNG, even after flattening the layers and reducing the image size.
Q. Is there an threshold in terms of size that limits the output file type?
Q. Please suggest a way forward so I can save as a JPG or PNG ?

"Attempting"??? What do you mean "attempting"? Just do it. Well make a copy if you don't understand what you're doing, and convert the copy.
The dialog box is telling you what you should already know. Namely that "reducing the bit depth" (i.e. going from 32 bits to 8 bits) will affect the colors of layered images. That's OK, because the PNG format does not support either layers nor 32 bits, so there's no other way of doing it.
Yes, Merge the layers, and Convert to 8 bit. Then Save as PNG or JPEG.

Cannot "Save as" jpeg anymore

Hello,
I have had photoshop extended for approx. 5 months. Recently when I'm working on a shot and want to save it as a jpeg,
that option is no longer there. I can save it as many, many things, but jpeg option has disappeared.I could before.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Double check the image color mode and bit depth.
JPEG supports Grayscale, RGB, and CMYK at 8 bit/channel only.
(16 bit/channel is automatically converted to 8 bit/channel in Photoshop CS6 and later)

Cannot save as jpeg

I am having trouble saving my file as a jpeg and after searching and searching I was thinking that my problem may be that it is 16 bit rather than 8 bit (it is a file I exported from Lightroom 3). I am trying to convert to 8 bit but having trouble figuring out how to do this. When I choose Image -> Mode, 8 bits is grayed out. What am I doing wrong?

If the Mode>8 bits is greyed out, then it's not a 16 bit file.
Make sure the file is in the RGB color mode.

Converting forms to fill them in is never a good idea; if they are official forms it can be a catastrophe. Keep the forms as PDF, don't convert.
XFA forms are ALREADY FILLABLE. If you can't fill it there is a fault.

Help: Save as jpeg

Maybe someone can help me on this Photoshop script, or action. I am working on a psd file with few layers in Photoshop CS4. I would like to save it to the jpeg format.
Below is my workflow.
1) Drag and drop 01.psd into Photoshop from A folder.
2) Save 01.psd to 01.jpeg into the A folder.
3) Image options with quality, "5" Medium.
4) Format Options with Baseline ("Standard")
5) Image mode is in RGB color.
6) Use lower case extension.
7) Other options should be in default setting.
The script or action should be able to:
1) Save as jpeg format with similar name as the psd file without adding words or marks such as "copy" or "-".
2) Save as jpeg format with similar name as the psd file, and able to overwrite the jpeg file whenever the psd file has been updated and saved multiple times.
3) Save the jpeg file into the same folder as the source file without creating any subfolder.
4) Not close the psd file, but still keeping it opens in the Photoshop without any changes.
I've tried the script from http://www.russellbrown.com, and Image Processor from Photoshop CS4, but those are not exactly what I want.

Trying to save to JPEG

Hi, I've worked on a photo that I'd like to save in JPEG format, I've read the replies to previous queries which say to change to 8 bit, when I click on image, 8 bit is greyed out and not accessable. Every time I try to change to JPEG I keep getting an error message. I'm currently evaluating this programme, but if I can only use the images I've altered within the programme then it's not going to work for me.

You're using PSE 11? Then go to the Editor preferences>general and click this button, then quit the editor and restart it and try again:
