Cannot save PSD or TIFF. I can save as PNG. When I save to desktop only small sliver of pic visible

This has not been easy to navigate or post here. Its not supposed to be that difficult.
I am trying to edit tiff and it works fine til I flatten and save to desktop. But on desktop the thumbnail only sows a fragment of the image. But it is a 22 mb file. What is happening?

I made a picture in HRD Pro, and i want to work on it. I saved it as a .psd and also as a .tif, but I cannot open nor the .psd, nor the .tif in Camera Raw? If I save it as a .Jpg I already lose quality..?

PSD files in Camera Raw:
1.— Stay the heck away from Bridge!
2.— Instead of right-clicking on anything, go to Photoshop's File menu and Select the Open menu item.
In the dialog box that opens, find your PSD file, select it, then go down to the bottom of the box and select Camera Raw in the dropdown menu next to Format:
TIFF files in Camera Raw:
Just make sure to enable TIFF support in Camera Raw Preferences, then open it like you open any JPEG or raw file:

I have set up photoshop elements as external editor in iPhoto but I cannot get the edited photo to open in iPhoto. When I save the photo Elements asks where do I want to save it and iPhoto is not an option.

I have set up Photoshop Elements11 as the External Editor in iPhoto just as Terence Devlin said. However when I save the edited photo it does not appear in iPhoto. A drop down menu asks where I want to save the photo and I do not know what to choose. Also should I choose, "save" or "save as"? I should be really grateful for your help.

I suggest opening iPhoto and reverting back to iPhoto in the Preferences for photo editing. Quit iPhoto. Restart your Mac for good measure. Open iPhoto and again choose Photoshop Elements in Preferences as the editing app.
As far as editing, I don't have PE, but I have another editing app form the Mac App Store, ColorStrokes. I have been experimenting with using it for editing iPhoto photos and it works flawlessly. After setting ColorStroke as the editing app, I open a photo in iPhoto and click the Edit button in the menu bar below the photo. Color Stoke immediately opens with the photo and I complete my editing. When I have finished editing I choose to Save the photo, leave the name the same and agree to replace the iPhoto photo of the same name. I quit ColorStroke and the photo in iPhoto now has all of my edits from ColorStroke.
Should I decide that I prefer the original photo, I open the photo in iPhoto and choose Revert to Original in the Photos pulldown menu.

Hi guys.
I was hoping to find out if you can turn off safari saving the last page when you quit the application (Feature frfrom OS X Lion, also the same in iWork). I find this very annoying as I find it slows down my computer when i am trying to launch safari.

System Preferences/General. There is a checkbox to enable/disable this behavior near the bottom of the window. Alternatives are: quit while holding the option key. Launch from dock while holding the shift key.

Then after completing your work, click save and it will open save Box,
make sure the file format in the box should be PSD and then you may save the file and then you can share with any one.
Any one who has Photoshop will be able to open that file and can edit the layers and fonts..

Upgraded to Yosemite now I cannot open PSD files on illustrator. Please help

I recently upgraded to Yosemite on my Mac and now when I open Illustrator I cannot open psd files. The error message I get when I open illustrator is "Error Loading Plugins. PhotoshopImport.aip"
Is there a fix for this? I cannot afford to upgrade my CS4 at this time.

Thanks Larry - the issue is that I need to keep all of the layers (there are a lot of them) and when I save as pdf it flattens the image. Is there no way to be able to open PSD files now that I upgraded to Yosemite?

Why can't i save in 2Gb tiffs photoshop?

I am photographing my paintings in sections importing into lightroom applying colour correction then using a export preset, exporting to photoshop to merge to panoramic, saving as a tiff file back to lightroom 5.. However i'm getting a error message stating the image is too large for a tiff file. (over 2gb) So I then save in photoshop as a PSD. then back in lightroom 5 i then export the PSD with a custom preset back into lightroom as a tiff file with no problems ... Why can i save the original tiff file, makes no sense..

CC wants to save as a TIFF by default. How do I make it save as a PSD by default?

I know that PSDs are the default file format, and I've read that CS6 is sticky and will save a file in the last file format that was saved.
Here's my scenario:
1. In Lightroom 5, I right-click on one of my RAW files (NEF) and select to edit in CC.
2. CC opens and I do some edits.
3. Trying to save the file.
a. If I just "Save" the file, it saves as a TIFF.
b. If I use "Save As..." the dialog is defaulted to a TIFF
I've tried opening one file from LR into CC, saving it as a PSD, then closing CC hoping that it would be sticky, nope.
How can I force CC to always default to save files as a PSD unless I tell it otherwise?

This helped me get to the resolution.
I opened CC and then opened an NEF through the Bridge. File... Save As... brought up a default PSD save. So I took a look in LR.
In LR I went to "Edit... Preferences" On the External Editing tab I had "File Format" set to TIFF. Why, when and how I made that change I don't remember. Especially the "why" part.
Changing it to PSD solved this.

Can't save psd file in CS5 op afp nas

Hello,
When I want to save a psd-file with Photoshop 12.0.2 CS5 on a synology NAS (DSM 3.1-1605) with afp-protecol, the file saves en disappears. It only happened with psd files. Tiff (also in layers), jpg or psb files saves perfectly. Before installing CS4 we had no problem with saving Photoshop psd files in CS4, but we now have the same problems to save psd files in CS4.
Is there a solution?

Thanks for your response. It's strange that we can store all types of files formats. The only thing that fails is a psd file. Photoshop CS5 also does not mention that it failed. No Error. If you look at the place where your file is saved, you see the same psd appear and then disappear again.
It remains strange that we had not psd saving problems last week. After installing learning CS5 we got these problems with just psd-files.
During a Save command throws Adobe Photoshop CS5 the original file from the server, then a new empty file is written in the same place and it is new Photoshop file is written, so updated. This seems to happen in a single action.
This is what I've found about the saving psd problem:
It seems that Mac OS X's use of "Stream Files" a major role in this issue, these are also called Named Streams mentioned. Mac OS X SMB gebuikt Stream Files on shared volumes. During a save operation (save) indicates the server, a NAS or SAN wrong message back to the computer that the Photoshop file is saved causing an adverse reaction occurs, and Photoshop "thinks"that it failed to save the file. Depending on the action response from the server, NAS or SAN in the client error messages may vary.
Various Stream Files used during a preservation action, including AFP_Resource. Thus, various files are kept:
• Photoshopfile.psd
• Photoshopfile.psd:AFP_resource
• ._Photoshopfile.psd
The back reaction is a response of "Photoshopfile.psd: AFP_resource" and not "Photoshopfile.psd. The server, SAN or NAS not see the Stream Files and give a response back on the newly saved file.
But I do not look where the problem lies. I would like to find a good solution. Thanks!

Updated to Oct 2014 version of photoshop CC. since that time cannot save ANY work. I can work on files but when I hit 'save as" every time it says "photoshop has quit working and needs to close."

It is a form letter that is intended as a receipt for funds received. I want to fill in the date, name, amount received, etc., save the form with inserted data fields so they can't be further altered, and be able to email it as a complete unalterable PDF document. What I'm doing now, is filling in the fields, printing it, scanning it, and emailing it as an unalterable document. The document was created on a Mac using Adobe Acrobat Pro version 10.1.13. The document is filled in on a PC that only has Adobe reader on it, printed, scanned and emailed as an attachment. There must be a better way!

If you have access to a ASP.net Web Server, then the submission could be FLATTENED with FDFToolkit.net and emailed without client-side email software by only using Adobe Reader.
