Cannot save to local drive in Numbers or Pages

When attempting to name and save a document in Numbers or Pages, iCloud appears by default as the target folder. When I change it to my local drive and select the local target folder, the file name automatically changes to the target folder name and I can't save anything.
Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for any help on this - sure looks like a bug to me.
BTW, I'm running Mountain Lion/10.8.1 and up-to-date versions of Numbers and Pages...

CMD-S now defaults to my local drive, but folder names are greyed out. If I click on one, then it tries to name the file with the folder name! Any ideas about that?
Thanks again.

  • Unable to Save to local drives from Quickbooks RemoteApp

We are using Quickbooks as a remoteApp in server 2012.  Local drives appear to be mapped correctly because I can see them from the app on a client computer.
If I try to save a file to a users local drive from QB the drive will not open to show subfolders nor will a file save to the drive, but if I right click the drive and choose open in new window it will launch an explorer window and populate subfolders correctly
so I know the drives are mapped in a way that the remote desktop session can connect to them, but the app can not "Save As" to these drives.
At this point I think it's likely an issue within Quickbooks but I thought I'd see if anyone had seen this behavior before, or has any ideas.
    Thanks =)

    Hi,
Have you tried using a drive mapping on the server?  For example, have G: mapped to \\tsclient\c ?  Then when the user tries Save As in QuickBooks they would browse to a subfolder on G:.
To make it quicker/easier for them you could create a subfolder on their local C: like C:\QBooks, and map G: on the server directly to \\tsclient\c\qbooks or perhaps they can simply browse to G:\QBooks as needed.
Unless the users have low latency and excellent bandwidth between them and the server you want to minimize the need for them to browse their local drive via their RemoteApp.  That is one of the reasons I recommend creating the subfolder right under
C: on their local drive and/or mapping directly to a subfolder.  Another reason I recommend it is to avoid confusion for the user as well as them getting an Access Denied error if they attempt to save directly to the root of their C drive.

  • I am trying to download iTunes, but cannot save the file because the thank you page comes up right away.

I am trying to download itunes 11.1.3.
    I cannot save the file,ItunesSetup.exe.
I click on Save File and nothing happens, I use XP.  The thank you page comes up right away

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • Remote desktop local drives not showing

    Hi,
When I connect to a client server using Remote Desktop connection, I cannot see my local drive letters under client's my computer. I have checked the "Disk Drives" under Local Resources tab. The client sever has Windows 2003.
Please let me know why I cannot see my local drive letters.
    Thanks.

Using Benny's advice, here's how I fixed it for me:
I had, of course, set the property in my local MSTSC properties (Show options > Local Resources tab > Local devices and resources > "More" button > Drives).
After logging into the Terminal Server and seeing my local drives not there (hence bringing me to this thread), I then went to "Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration", as it is called on my Win2008 server, as suggested.
When it came up, there is a "Connections" section with an "RDP-Tcp" icon.  I right-clicked this and selected Properties.  This brings up a dialog.
Selected "Sessions" tab.  Unchecked "Override user settings", selected OK, then selected the "Refresh" under the "RD Session Host Configuration" sidebar.  I could then see my drives under my Computer icon on the Start Menu.  Perhaps the Sessions
bit and Refresh action I did were coincidental, since I think the Sessions setting pertains more to timeouts than actual connection properties like drives, but this got me working.

  • Enable save data locally / enable detail page generation

Under the behaviors tab on the display templetes I have checked "Enable Popup Menu", checked "Enable Save Data Locally" and checked "Enable Detail Page Generation".  When you right click on the applet, some applets the "Data >" selection is disabled/grayed out for others it is not and works properly.  I can get the data via the showDetailUsingGet() method.  Works on most grid and chart applets but does not on some.  Please help.

Typically this behavior would be attributed to the kind of recordset behind the applet . If it is dynamic (for example time based queries and you have enabled the auto refresh property of the applet , so with every refresh you have a new data set) then the data detail would be grayed out otherwise it would work as advertised.

  • HT4399 I have a Mac Book Air and have purchased individually numbers and pages.  I was given an excel file on a thumb drive and cannot open it.  Is there a way to open the xcl file in numbers?

I have a MacBook Air, and have purchased individually Numbers and Pages.  I was sent an Excel file on a thumb drive but cannot open the file.  The message states that the Excel file is encryeted.  Is ther any way to open a PC file on my Mac Book Air?
    Pat and Bob

Excel does not use the .xcl extension for any of its native file formats?  The only files I've ever seen with xcl as the file extension were associated with embedded application code projects.
If this is in fact an Excel file, but an encrypted one, you cannot open it (in excel or any compatible application) without the decryption password.

I have just upgraded to the new OS X V. 10.10.3 but cannot access my iCloud Drive documents using the resident Pages and Numbers software on my MacBook Pro. Help is needed to access those documents using the resident software on my MacBook Pro rather than the Beta software on iCloud.com.

  • Save Invoice at VF03 to local drive

    Hi
I am able to view the invoice at VF03/VF02. I click on the billing document -> Issue Output To -> Print preview. What I need is to save the Invoice in my local drive as PDF format or any other viewable format.
The Save function is disable to click.
Please advise how I can save the Invoice into my local drive?
    Thanks
    Brandon

    Hi Brandon,
If you have convert PDF software in your system, then you can do it using Print .
When you go to VF03--> Issue output to--> Click on the print button (not the Print preview),
then it will ask for the printer to select, there you should be able to see PDF converter in the dropdown,  select that and continue.
    Please let me know
    Thank,
    AV

    What happens when you save?

  • Cannot save Numbers files to our Mac OS X Server (10.6.8) due to permissions problems.

This is not a univeral problem, only a few people see it, and sometimes only with certain locations of our server. They cannot save Numbers file to the server but they can save it to their desktop and then drag the file to the file server. I have reset permissions for the locations in question to no avail. Any suggestions? In the latest case the iMac is running 10.6.8 and Numbers 2.3.

    Paul,
This is a long-standing problem with no resolution that I am aware of except to not save iWork documents directly to a server.

  • Trying to save preferences to a network drive (no local drives available).

I'm on a virtual desktop with no local drives.  Captivate 8 is telling me that I can't save Preferences, Projects, or Cache items to a network drive.  I have no choice in the matter.  Any ideas how I can get around this?  Thanks.

You're stuck. The computer you are currently using is not suitable for running Captivate. You need to get one with local drives and which allows you to run the app as an administrator.

  • I cannot save a frame from a video following the recent Apple recall to replace my hard drive. There is no menu option with share  and save frame. Do I need to reinstall Final Cut Pro?

Since the recent replacement of my hard drive, I cannot save a frame from a video. There is no menu option with share and "save frame"  I used to be able to do this.
    Please help

In the Share popup select Add Destionation to go to the Destination preference. Drag still image to the sidebar to make it available in the popup.

  • Using my Mac, I cannot save a file back to the network drive from which it was opened.

This began occurring after upgrading to Yosemite. I can rename the file and "Save As", but merely attempting to save it gives a permissions error. "Get info" says I have full permissions to the file. I can save documents locally with no problem. It is not a problem with permissions on the server, as from my PC using the same login account, I can save to the drive just fine. It is only an issue on the Mac. It is only Photoshop that presents this problem; all other programs, Adobe and otherwise, allow saving to this drive with no issue. Tried resetting preferences to no avail. CS6 and OSX are both fully updated.

There is no way to backup the TC via Time Machine or internally.. so any file you place on the TC is at risk. You can certainly store it there.. and for a downloaded movie you may not worry particularly.. but if you wanted to build up a movie library on the TC (outside of itunes) then TC is not really suited to the task. You would really be better with an external drive plugged into the mini.

  • Cannot save query as local object

    Dear community,
One of our users is not able to save a query change as a local object (not to be transported).  While another user is able to do this.
Since we don't want the query changes to be transported, I must find a way to allow the save as local object in $TMP.
An authorizations trace shows everything is OK from job role perspective.
When the user changes a query in development and chooses "Save As", she is prompted for a transport.  At this time if she chooses "local object" then she is taken to the create a transport dialog.
For another user this is not the case, and the 2nd user is able to save query changes locally without a transport request.
Any thoughts on what might be the cause for this ?

    Hi Keith,
without knowing the details of you system settings and the system where it happens (prod, dev, ...). One general remark:
If you save a query lots of repository objects are generated an written to a transport request (i.e. structures, selections, ...), not only one for the query itself. Maybe in your case, the original query uses a globally defined structure in the columns or rows. If you now want to "save as" new query, many objects are checked for transportation. The global structure can not be saved as local object, because it was already transported before. Whilst the new query itself can be stored as local object. Means not all objects of the new query can be saved as local, because some are already transported.
One way to check if this could also be your problem, both of your mentioned example users should try to save exactly the same query as new local query.

    Adios
