Cannot Scale Fonts with Panel

Question

Hello Forum,
I just decided to try using Adobe Encore as opposed to DVD Studio Pro (64bit, etc)
I am unable to change text kerning, height, tracking, etc using the icons in the font properties area.
This is the area, as in Photoshop CS6, putting the mouse over a "T" and you can change height or width by moving the mouse left or
right or up and down.  This works great in photoshop. The only way I can change text height or text in a button, is to type a value
in the box, like 150% instead of 100%.  How can I get those controls to work?

Photoshop is much better tool to use.
I'd dispute that really.......Authoring tools should be considered as just that - an assembly tool. I would never, ever try to edit in Encore (or Scenarist - not that it lets you) because PhotoShop is the better tool for this.
Re Text Scaling - one word of advice: Don't.
You will be far better off in PhotoShop setting the text layter tpo a smart object & scaling that way - if you try to scale the actual text it can look, well, bloody odd really because of the way DVD uses non-square pixels so what you design is not necessarily how it will end up - especially with text which can be a bugger to scale properly.
Computer monitors normally have much higher resolution than video displays and use progressive video rather than interlaced, which means that details that look great on a computer screen may not look the same on a TV display - or worse still may disappear altogether. This is especially important when dealing with text. The following guidelines can help maintain clarity & legibility when viewing the results on a TV system.
     Fonts should be at least 11-12 points, with the thinnest parts of the letters at least 2 points thick to avoid moire* and flickering.
     Sans Serif fonts display better than Serif fonts.
     Avoid putting more than 10 to 15 lines of text on a single screen.
     In Line Art, use lines that are at least 2 pixels wide
     * - Moire is a kind of wavery, watery effect - almost a shimmering feel.
