Cannot Scan For Errors or Format iPod

I see alot of ppl are having the same problems that I am having with my own iPod. This is very discouraging. We are getting ripped off by Apple, big time.
I have tried EVERYTHING suggested that I can find, and my iPod still does not work.
My drivers are all up to date, the .dll files are registered, and my Windows fully recongnizes my iPod. I've rolled back to an older version of iTunes even, and it still will not restore my iPod. Nothing I do seems to matter.
I tried several times to scan my iPod for bad sectors and nothing happens. It will not scan.
I also tried that format thing and when the format comes up, the one page someone on here recommended to look at says you should select a file called FAT32 and then Format. I have no FAT32 file anywhere. When the format box comes up, all it says in the drop down at the top is 74 GB and the bottom 2 drop downs are empty, followed by a 3rd field that is empty, then the buttons to start the Format. It absolutely will not format or anything.
I can only get my iPod to come up on Windows if I put it into disk mode. If I don't put it into disk mode, it will constantly show the Apple logo screen and keep shutting itself off and turning back on. I can hear the hard drive in it constantly clicking as well.
What do I do with this thing??? Is there any other solution?

So far I haven't been able to find any help -- I've tried mailing #bluez-users mailing list but I'm not sure if that list is active any more. I've also tried on irc in #bluez and #bluez-users, and on superuser.com.

I have had this issue of not scanning for WiFi networks as well. I just tried the following, and it has worked for me, at least for the last 12 hours or so:
1. Turn ON Airplane Mode
2. Power off the phone normally: Hold power and home keys for 6 sec, then swipe the "power off" slider.
3. Waited 1 minute
4. Turn on phone, wait for it to reboot itself
5. Turn OFF airplane mode,
Immediately, all WiFi networks popped up, and I could select my home network with the same saved password etc.
Of course, this might not work for every case, but it's easier than a phone restore and worth a try.

I cannot connect to any wi-fi network. My wif- is working at home, I am connected right now to the wi-fi with my computer, but this phone wont connect to any network at all. I have read the recommended steps posted on this website. I have tried rebooting, resetting the network connections, etc. I tried manually entering the name of the network and the screen says "cannot scan for wireless networks". I have had this problem since upgrading the operating system a few days ago. Nothing is working and this is very frustrating.

After being to the apple store twice, trying various restore attempts and a host of other things. I have found out the phone is screwed because of the apple update. I ended up losing content, losing the ability to connect to wifi, so lost the ability to get my cloud backups, lost my ability to get my work email as well and that is that. I have spent hours dealing with this now. Apple store told me I should just upgrade my phone to a 5 when my contract is up cause there is nothing they can do. If I had known all of this would have happened I would never have updated. The guy at the apple store told me he didnt do the update on his phone because of all the issues with it. Thanks Apple. Thanks for sending out a system upgrade that really downgrades our phones and ****** us off. My time is valuable as is all the data that is lost. I am royally ****** off. You have lost my loyalty. I might just upgrade to some other type of phone instead of an iphone.

good morning. my iphone 4s is not "seeing" any wireless networks. the message I got is cannot scan for wireless networks
I have tried most all setting without success. could ther be a hardware problem?

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).
If none of this resolves the issue, then a hardware issue exists. The device is still under warranty... take it to Apple for replacement if it gets this far.

Cannot put files from mac formatted ipod onto pc

i have an ipod that is formatted for mac. i don't have all of the original mp3 files for my music on my computer and need to put them onto a pc. i used a program (podutil) to get the music off of my ipod and onto my mac, then i wanted to move them to my pc. the files will not copy -- incorrect syntax.
is there any way to make these files play on a pc?

First thing: Are you sure you have all the music you want to put in the PC? Then, if you have some Files or Folder in your iPod copy them to your mac. Once this done (and verified) Restore your iPod, but this time ask the Restoration Programe to format the iPod in Windows Mode and enable the Disk Use (I can't remember how it's called).
Put your music and files back to your Windows Formated iPod and then plug it into the PC (with iTunes installed).
Now you'll be able to see and use the files.

Iphone 4 with ios 5 and 6 with intermittent wifi. Sometimes I can find my networks but they don't stay and sometimes my phone cannot scan for networks

I never had a problem with ios 4. I add an issue with my last iphone 4, my fault. Apple sent me a new phone with ios 5. Worked great for a couple of weeks. Then my wifi started dropping. Not a huge deal. Picked it up again. Then it happened more frequently and the wifi dropped. Not happy. Then it stopped locating my home router completely. "Could not scan for networks". Awesome. So I updated to ios 6. WORSE. Wifi greyed out. So I found a solution (thank you) from someone on the forum to stop all running programs (home menu twice and hit x to programs on there) and shut phone off for 5 minutes. No more grey-out wifi, but scanning still didn't work. But then occasionally it did. Weird. I've tried all the 'creative' suggestions like resetting networks/ phone, router, etc. This is not a problem with just a few phones. I have seen several posts from people who are having this same problem. Some say it's software; some say hardware. I don't know what to think. Now it's back to 'could not scan for networks'. I've tried to change settings on my iphone and router. I don't know how to reset my router to factory settings (Cisco), but am working on that. Seriously though... I shouldn't have to jump through hoops here. Apple should be bending over backwards to resolve this annoying issue. Yet.. no word from Apple. No timeline for this fix. I have run the gamuet (sp?) on fixes for all kinds of wifi issues. I feel like I've had them all short of water damage (absolutely no water has touched my phone through my cage-like case). So. On Monday... I may have to take my phone in to an Apple store to see if I can get a replacement. Software/hardware/who cares. I shouldn't have to search on here for a solution. The answer SHOULD be easy and resolved. I'm thoroughly annoyed.

Verify that the user names and passwords are entered correctly.
Restoring from backup does not seem to always restore the password for email accounts.

Ipad 2 Cannot scan for wireless networks

Why can't my ipad 2 scan for wireless networks? Was on airport mode but turned airport mode off. Turned on wi-fi. Reset network settings. Tried turning ipad off and turning it back on. Keep getting same message. Could not scan for wireless networks. Any ideas?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Ipad2 "cannot scan for wireless networks"

My iPad2 is about a year old and was able to scan and connect to networks just fine up until a week a go when it stopped scanning for networks. I am usually able to connect to the wireless network at my school and home [along with other various hotspots like Starbucks] just fine but within the last week have been experiencing no luck in connecting to any of my potential wireless networks. I have tried resetting the network settings, rebooting the ipad, my airplane mode is truned off and my routers have been reset and set back to original settings, in a nutshell I have pretty much tried everything the "Apple Support Community" has told me to do and still have no luck. Please help.

Is Wi-Fi grayed out on your iPad? Does it see any the Wi-Fi networks?

Cannot scan for wireless networks

Since last night has been connecting to 3G and wi-fi on and off, and now won't find the wi-fi at all, circle keeps going around. try to enter it manually but it says it could not scan for wireless networks. have tried resetting network settings, turning the phone on and off but nothing works.
Did drop the phone yesterday but am hoping i havent broken some internal part and that someone can point me in the right direction!!

It sounds like you DID break something, or at least loosen a connection when you dropped it.

Error when formating Ipod

My Ipod Video was continuously crashing and freezing so I decided to do an iTunes restore and as it didn't change much, I actually formated my iPod thinking it could change something. The problem is that it isn't turning on at all. When I press the center button I get the apple logo for a few seconds and then it kinds of resets an I the logo on and on. When I connect my ipod to the computer it doesn'changes except a few times when it indicated "battery very low please wait"
I therefore charged it using an AC adaptr without much results

C7280 - Cannot scan. Error message says another program has control over the device

I opened the HP Device Manager to do a scan. I accepted the settings and the scan started. But part way through the scan, I stopped the scan as I realized that I wanted to change the resolution. I quit the Device Manager and restarted it but when I did, I got an error message saying:
"The function you have requested cannot be performed because another program has control over the device".
I don't have anything else open and so I can't work out what program has control over the printer.

I was thinking that if you stopped the process in mid-scan that there may be some background processes still running. Rebooting usually stops those processes.
No, you will not have to do this each time. Next time, though, it may be easier to just let the scan complete and the do another scan at whatever setting you want.
