Cannot Scroll Through Fonts?
Hi all
I have Illustrator CS5 and I am having problems with my fonts. I like to type my text, highlight it, and then click on the font I am using and scroll down so I can see the text I've type changed until I find the font I want.
However, I am having some issues - it only seems to go through fonts in sections. I have a lot of fonts on my computer but I cant scroll through more than about 10/15 without it either jumping to the end/bottom font or going back to the font I started on.
Its very odd.
Any ideas?
From this resource, it seems like you'll only have a problem you'd encounter by switching this off is if you need to type in special text - like you mentioned above.

NOTHING will allow me to mouse wheel scroll through fonts in CS6
OMG, I am about to have a coronary trying to find fonts! I have looked on this forum for an answer that works and cannot find anything thus far. First, WHY is it necessary for CS6 font list in the Character Pallet to take up 1/2 of my screen?! Second, do i REALLY have to click the little arrows at the top and bottom of the font list to scroll through fonts, ONE.BY.ONE? Typing the first letter does not work either, it takes me to say the "D" fonts but when i click the drop down arrow to see my list of "D's", it shows a list from the top, not the D section. I REALLY hope I am missing something here, because seriously, this is totally unusable.
ETA: Going to the TYPE>FONT menu at the top does not scroll either and Photoshop CS6 works beautifully...
ETA (again): i CAN scroll through the menu on the top (under the FILE-EDIT-etc menus), but there is no font preview (and it is selected as med in preferences)Thank you for the reply. System is a fairly new Windows 7, 64 bit, plenty of RAM, hard drive space, i5 dual core processor. To have this issue in Illustrator only and not in Photoshop seems less likely a software conflict (just guessing)? I attached screen shots.
Character Pallet drop down (mouse wheel, keyboard arrows, typing a letter key...all do nothing) Only way to navigate is by hitting the little arrows on the top/bottom of the drop down. And no scroll bar?
Top Menu Drop Down - scrolls, hit a letter key and works, arrow keys work. Could use this permanently, but there is no font preview..
All of what you said works on your system, is how I would expect it to be programmed. Partially making sure this is not the way it was designed, and hoping to find a fix for why its not working correctly.
Main programs installed:
Firefox
MS Office 2007
quickbooks
CS3 Design suite (I JUST upgraded to CS6 and have kept it there for a backup...probably can uninstall now if that could be an issue)
Thank you for any advice and if you would like to upload the video, that would be great. -
***Cant Scroll through fonts using arrow keys
when trying to preview different fonts in AI i am unable to scroll through them using the arrow keys, it just doesnt move... can anyone tell me whats wrong? im sure its pretty simple but i have no idea how to fix it...if it can be fixed... oh im using cs3 and a mac on os x leopard
you cant scroll through fonts in photoshop too. the scrolling stops on an item of the list (maybe photoshop has problem with it), and 1. in photoshop, you can't jump over it, you have to manually place the selection on the item after the one that blocked the scrolling, 2. illustrator will jump backward and you will keep scrolling about max 5-6 fonts over and over.
the font groups divided with lines are meaningless. it doesn't have any relation with regional keysets or any good reason.
a lot of unusable font f....d into the middle of the page.
i have to scroll over a dozens of unusable system fonts, what I cannot uninstall from Windows.
no font management at all.
and yes waiting for another 300$ upgrade too.
(plus another upgrade for a flash, because flash drawing tools didn't see upgrades in their whole lifetimes.
these tools are covered with bugs from top to toe. because nobody takes care of them. 300$ / 1bug.) -
Scroll through fonts (using arrow keys) in CS3?
I've searched a couple dozen blogs and this forum, but I cannot seem to find a way to scroll through fonts using the arrow keys in CS3. The tips I've been able to find are for older versions of PS and don't seem to work with CS3. Am I missing something? Am I crazy?
Many thanks!
- An addled designerOkie Dokie.
So, on the left, I have the type tool selected.
In the middle is the drop down font family panel.
On the right, you'll see that I have the text layer selected.
Oh, and you can see in the top that my text is not in editing mode (hence the lack of the green check/red "no" symbol).
Am I doing this correctly?
Oh and if I trash my preferences will I lose keyboard short cuts I've set up?
THanks again! -

IPhone 4 cannot scroll through a certain spot on the screen
This problem is intermittent, so I first assumed it was a software problem, but it has been restored both at home and at the Apple store with no success.
About 50% of the time, I cannot scroll through the bottom 10% of the screen. For the most part it isn't a huge deal, but on apps like Words With Friends I cannot drag letters up from the bottom. On certain webpages with a "yes" or "no" option at the bottom, I cannot click either one. Sometimes I'm able to to switch to landscape mode and bypass the problem, but not on all apps. The keyboard also goes wacky periodically while sending text messages (as in some letters will not "click" at first, and sometimes each click produces 5 or 6 of the letter).
Running 5.0.1 on an iPhone 4.
Any suggestions?Hello again.
I am quite new to the program myself but over the last few weeks editing one particular image I have found that this program will do practically anything I want. I just persevere through each frustration and eventually figure it out. I just wish it were easier to remember what I did to get the result...oh wait, there is a way for that too lol.
I believe you will find it best to have your image on its own layer.
As for the rulers, check to see if it is turned on, I believe that choice would be under the tab at the top labeled VIEW? Not in front of puter right now so not sure exactly.
Also, you might want to check your settings for many of this type of feature in the PREFERENCES area.
Please let us know your progress. Good luck!

Illustrator CS5 crashes when scrolling through font menu.
Hello Adobe Community,
I am in desperate need of help with my Illustrator CS5 program. It has suddenly started to crash when I scroll through the Font menu from the Type menu at the top of the program. I am using a late 2013 Macbook Pro 13" with retina display on OSX 10.9.2. I am using Illustrator CS5 v15.0.0. I have read through scores of forum threads and tried every solution that was suggested and still cannot resolve this problem. I am stumped and my back is up against the wall. My work flow has now slowed to crawl since I have to now search through fonts using FontBook then manually type in the font I need in the font character field. I believe this problem is due to a corrupt font. The trouble started after I installed a new font. I have since deactivated and deleted that font but the problem persists. I am not a "tech head" so I don't know how to generate those long code pages that some can. I can make pretty pictures with Adobe products but I can't service those Adobe products.
Here is a list of things I have tried so far (at least what I remember):
* I have deactivated and deleted the font I believed to be corrupt.
* I have validated all my fonts with FontBook and deleted all corrupt files.
* I have turned off the "enable missing glyph protecting" in the preferences.
* I have used FontNuke to delete my font caches.
* I have reset my Pram.
* I have repaired all my permission with disk utility.
* I have removed all fonts except for the standard system fonts.
* I have uninstalled Illustrator and done a clean install (my system was migrated from a backup-however is has worked fine for months).
* I have deleted my library/preferences/abobefnt.plst.
* I have change the font preview to small.
* I deleted all my fonts and restored them from time machine from before I had installed that last font I believed to be buggy.
* I have prayed to Jebus.
So far none of this has worked. The closest I got was after deleting all the corrupt fonts with FontBook. It worked for a day. Then the next day started crashing again. I am completely lost at this point. I don't know what else to do.
Can anybody please help me figure this out?
BK
Update - I figured out how those crash reports are done so if anyone thinks they can help but needs to see a report please let me know and I will paste it into a reply.
Update 2 - I tried turning off the font preview all together and this seems to have stopped the crashes so far. I think the bug can be isolated to this function. Problem is I need that function.Hello Adobe Community,

Scrolling through font list in character palette
Hi. In AI CS4. XP
I thought after having the newest version of Illustrator I would be able to have a text box selected & scroll through the font list to see the different fonts change on the text using the arrow up/down keys.
I seem to only be able to scroll through 2-3 fonts & then it stops, which is very frustrating because I am so used to doing it in ID & PS.
Anyone know what I can do? Picking each font one by one is time consuming. How American that sounds. Great.
Thanks.http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407377.html

Illustrator 5.5 crashes when scrolling through font list
I'm running on a macbook pro OS 10.7.4 and illustrator 5.5 crashes everytime I open a new document, select the type tool and scroll through the font list from the font menu list. It scrolls about 25% down the list then crashes the software.
I also have a MacBook Pro (retina) and am running OS X Mountain Lion. I, too, have this problem. This is 100% reproducable, on a newly installed system. The crash report always contains something like this:

Frequently I create a pdf and then I want to send it. After clicking send and the email pops up I compose the message. However, as I compose it, I have a question requiring me to look at the pdf. However, I can't page through the document because it's locked by Outlook. Also, I can't look at other emails while this message is open.
A workaroud is to save the document in Outlook. Then I can scroll through the pdf or view other emails but I have to go to the drafts folder and reopen the email to edit it.
What I'd really like to see is a way to set the default when sending a pdf in Outlook to have it always send a copy. That way the pdf isn't locked and I don't have to go throught this workaround. I encounter this every day. Isn't there some solution to this?Edit>Preferences>Email accounts>List of email accounts. Click the drop-down that says "add account" and select Gmail. After adding it, you can go to the account area and change it to default.

I cannot scroll through my photos in iCloud on my pc
Ok, I'm feeling like a complete idiot, but I have found no way to scroll through my albums or folders in the browser when I'm in iCloud. I have to click on an individual picture and go through by using the arrows...which is very inconvenient when you have a bunch of photos. Help
If they were already downloaded to the device, they will stay on the device until it hits 1000 photos downloaded from PhotoStream. At that time, it will start deleting the oldest photos downloaded from PhotoStream. The cloud only holds 30 days worth of photos. It is NOT intended to be permanent storage.

Scrolling through fonts problem (goes to the end of the list)
hi!
i have a text selection and i am going through the installed fonts by hitting the up/down arrow in the "Character:" drop-down list. What happens is when i come across a font that for some reason doesn't have a the name displayed in the textbox, the current selection goes at the bottom fo the font list.
any idea why this happens and if it can be fixed somehow?
thanks for readingI can't fully explain the reasoning behind why it works the way it does, but I am nearly certain you can fix this by opening up your Type preferences (The Type section of prefs) and unchecking "Enable Missing Glyph Protection".

Illustrator CS4 crashes when scrolling through fonts via the character palette
Hi,
Question say it all - am using CS4 on macbook pro laptop. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen every time since installation? It only crashes when previewing fonts via the character window.
AntHi & thanks for your reply.
No problems with the fonts as far as I can tell via font book validation.
