Cannot Search Corportate Directory in Phone App

Hi,
I have been running 8.1 for a month or so and have run into an slight usability issue that cannot seem to resolve.
In Windows Mobile 8.0 I was able to search my corporate directory (Office365) from directly within the Phone application to locate and dial a contact. If I searched for a unknown contact I had the option to search the corporate directory
which allowed me to select who I was looking for and display their office and mobile numbers. This system worked beautifully!
In 8.1 if I search for an unknown contact within the Phone application I no longer have the option to search the corporate directory. What's worse I cannot seem to find any settings that allow me to re-enable this lost functionality.
Now if I need to dial someone that's not in my contact list I have to create an email to the individual, click and open the name and then search the corporate directory to locate their office and mobile numbers. While this workaround works
its too many steps and is impractical.
Does anyone know if Microsoft has removed this feature or if it can be re-enabled?

The same thing happened to me today. I tried to hold Home button, but the Phone app wouldn't shut down. Then I tried to hold Power button, but the phone just went to Sleep mode instead of being turned off. When I woke it, the same Phone app appeared. What I did next was to hold Home and Power buttons together for a few seconds. This rebooted my iPhone and the problem was solved.

You cannot delete the built in phone app. You may have moved it to another home screen page.

( I search for iChat questions when I have finished in the iChat Forum)
So the menu bar reads iChat, File, Edit, View, Buddies, Video, Window and Help
There is no Buddy List open.
There is no other window for iChat open.
In the iChat Menu you only have access to Status.
Is an item ticked in the list ?
Is this a green (Available item) or Red ( an Away one) ?
Can you access the Accounts option ? (Sitll in the iChat Menu)
Is anything in here ticked ?
In the Window menu any Logged in account should appear in the list (Between the Next Chat and File Transfer items)
It would be useful to know which version of iChat this is.
If no account is ticked (iChat Menu > Accounts) or not showing in the Window Menu, plus you cannot determine the Status and you cannot access the Preferences then you need to access your Home Folder/Library/Preferences
As the Library in the Home Holder is Invisible in Lion you will need the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Folder option (you can use it in earlier OS versions if you want)
Type in:-
~/Library/Preferences
Find the file called com.apple.ichat.plist
Drag it to the Trash and Restart iChat.
This will lose all the settings in iChat that you have changed from Defaults but there is no way around this.

If it really does not work, change your password here https://appleid.apple.com (Manage account) and try to add the account again. I hope it helps.

VS2013 - I cannot deploy and debug windows phone 8.1 store app to windows phone device

Hello, I create a project from C#-> Store Apps -> Windows Phone Apps, but I cannot deploy my apps to my blue device. There was a error message show "Element not found". I can run the app from Blend, and found Blend package the app to Appx
file. Is any method that we can deploy store app into windows phone blue device directly and how to debug it on VS 2013?

Voicemails are a vital part of having a working phone. We do suggest that you look at the contact and then the number to make sure that it is *86. If you are needing to get your voicemails until then, please dial *86.

Company Names excluded in searching Contacts in Phone App - Why?

Has anyone else had a problem with searching a company name through the Phone app Contacts search function? This seems like such a basic function to me, I was surprised. Calling for a cab, or local pharmacy shouldn't require Name Field be completed. It needs a fix for sure. Please advise if anyone knows if this is a bug, OS miss, or a unique issue with my Z10? Thanks!

Yes this is a known issue, as well as some other sorting and search issues within the contacts app. I have reported it, not sure if it made the bug list or not.
A work around for now is to use the universal search on the home page, it seems to search all of the fields. Then click the contact from there and choose how you wish to contact them by touching the options.

What version of OS X do you have? Messages requires 10.8. Previously it was iChat (but does not have iMessage capability to send texts to an iOS device).

Contacts tab under Phone app bug in iOS 8.2

I heard this bug /error in the early releases of iOS 8.x and faced it personally in 8.2. When you go contacts tab in "Phone" app -this is important because this issue is only in the contacts tab under the Phone app. It doesn't happen in Contacts app itself or an third part app like WhatsApp. As I said only under the Phone app's contacts tab- and type a common name or surname in your contacts ,for example "Kartal" in my case, the app searches this word in your contact list and gives you result. The problem starts here: When you want the select the last result from the search -of course results must over flow the screen- and you scroll your finger down to last result it comes out of the screen when you pull your finger from the screen. Does anyone noticed this and has a solution for it? (I guess this can only be solved by an update)

I think I see what you are saying - you cannot get to the last results of the search. Yes, it appears to be a bug. Please report it to http://www.apple.com/feedback as we are all just users here and cannot do anything about it. Thanks.

Phone app contacts vs. contacts app contacts

why is the phone application contacts differnt from the contacts application. when in phone app you cannot access your favorites or extended search criteria by swiping to the right. After making a phone call i have to leave phone app and go to contacts app to get this info. Phone app only has basic contact info (no favorites or extended search info) should this not be the same.

Okay. I hope I can remeber all my steps exactly because I fixed my own problem...with absolutely no help from Apple. I opened itunes. I connected my ipod touch to my computer. On my itunes page that shows my songs in the upper right side under the search library box there is an itunes button and since I am connected there is an ipod button. DO NOT CLICK THE ARROW in the ipod button...just click in the mail part of the button. On mine it opened to a summary page that gave info on my ipod. The menu bar has Summary, Apps, Tones, Music and more. I clicked on the Music button. I chose to Sync the entire music library. That replaced what was on my ipod but what was on there was going to be put back on so I was okay with it. I then clicked the Sync button on the lower right side and it sync'd and all my songs are on my ipod again. I hope this might help someone else. Good luck.

Itunes cannot read contents of this phone

I updated my iphone 6 to the ios 8.1.3. it rebooted the phone while still connected to the computer and itunes and now all of a sudden, itunes says "it cannot read contents of this phone" and the only option it's giving me is to restore to factory settings. unfortunately, i didn't back up first before updating. HELP! I'm going nuts here.

Before doing it, though, I updated my Time Machine backup manually, just in case. I also added one step not in the video. The file I was told to delete I first copied to my desktop and confirmed that it could be put back on my device. It literally took one minute. As I type this, my phone is doing its first backup in two months and iTunes didn't give me any heartache.
FYI: I don't know why iTunes doesn't seem to allow multiple backups anymore but once I finished my phone's initial setup I backed it up to the cloud as a safety precaution so I would never have to start from scratch again. I do regular backups to my computer so that if one becomes corrupt, I can turn to the other.
I've had this same problem since the last update (12/15/15 -- almost two months ago) and was hoping this latest would fix it. It didn't. Factory reset was not a viable option. Finally, this morning I did one final search before piecing together what backups I could (photos, exporting from what few apps offer exports, etc) and tried one last search. Using the exact wording in the iTunes warning led me to the video.
