I have Canon 5d mrk II, CS5 and Camera Raw 5.7
I can process photos in Photoshop CS5 by clicking in Bridge, but I cannot see thumbnails / miniatures in Bridge, only icons ...
I have emptied the cache and chosen reset all settings in Bridge.
I am lost ...

Hello
I tried Tools, cache, empty cache - failed.
I tried to download camera raw 6,2, install, couldn't install.
Then I tried Bridge, Help, update, and got the error message: Another instance of updater is running.
Hmm. searched the web, and found this:

  • Hello- I am a Canon photographer.  I use Bridge (CS5) to process my raw files to jpegs.  I am taking on a second photographer who shoots Nikon (D800) and i am not currenty able to see or process his images.  Can you please help?  thankyou!

Hello- I am a Canon photographer.  I use Bridge (CS5) to process my raw files to jpegs.  I am taking on a second photographer who shoots Nikon (D800) and i am not currently able to see or process his images.  Can you please help?  thank you!

    According to Adobe:
    D800
    NEF
    6.7, 7.1
    4.1
    D800E
    NEF
    6.7, 7.1
    4.1
The fact that they have 2 versions of ACR means that initial support for the D800 was added in 6.7  but that complete support was finalized in 7.1 (the 4.1 in the chart is for Lightroom)
I'm not sure that this means there are missing features, but rather refinements and optimized settings were added in 7.1
    However, ACR 7.1 requires CS6.
As Dag mentioned, you can also use the latest version of DNG Converter to convert the D800 files to DNGs which will be able to be opened in older versions of ACR.
The DNG converter only works on folders of files, not individual files. So just select the folder and convert. All the files in the folder will be converted.

At long last, do we now know the true identity of "Yammer"? Keith Nuttall?
Hope so. With all the experience and intelligence shown in Yammer's previous posts it would make total sense.
I for one cannot understand why people do not post under their real names. And I'm not prepared to say why. I'll let you guess.
If it is you Keith, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by letting the community know who you really are. It would give much more weight and authority to your posts for the casual forum participants who have not had a long-standing familiarity with your previous very insightful and helpful contributions.
Just my 2 cents. Don't care tuppence whether or not anyone disagrees with me.

  • 60D images not showing a thumbnail view in Bridge CS5..ideas?

I am having trouble seeing images in raw format from a 60D Canon in Bridge CS5. I have an iMac using OS X 10.9.4..any ideas why I can only see the white file, but can see all images in raw from 5D, 7D, 40D...etc. No updates show up as available on my computer or on the Adobe site. I just can't figure it out!
    Thanks for your help.
    -Alli

Make sure your ACR (Adobe camera Raw) plug-in is fully updated.  That camera model has been supported since Adobe Camera Raw 6.2.
DO NOT rely on the Adobe auto updater to tell you that there are no updates available.  It's totally unreliable in CS5 and earlier versions.  The Adobe updater team overseas did not get their act together even halfway right until CS6.
Go into the About Plugin > Camera Raw… menu item in Photoshop to see what version of ACR you have.  In CS5, ACR should be at version 6.7, more precisely at 6.7.1.
If you are already updated to ACR 6.2 or higher, then go to the Tools menu in Bridge and Purge Cache for the offending folder(s).

  • Do thumbnails show in Bridge CS5 if connected directly from a DSLR (via USB cable)?

I have a D90 and none of my thumbnails for my files show in Bridge CS5 when connected directly from the camera. This includes ALL types of files (JPEG, NEF, etc). It shows the thumbnails when I use a card reader though. Is this common with DSLRs?

If you have—misguidedly and unfortunately—done that already, first back up the image files on your computer, then immediately format the card in the camera, which will erase everything in the card and format it to a fresh, pristine state.
What ever possessed you to do a thing like that?
Had you done that to the card containing the raw files you can't open?
Do not be fooled by what the camera shows you anyway. The preview you see in the back of the camera when chimping* is not a preview of your raw file at all, but of the embedded JPEG that the camera creates right after you shoot and records inside your raw file.  The histogram it shows you in the camera is not based on the raw data at all either, but on said embedded JPEG.
The same is true when you review or playback the images later on the LCD display in the back of the camera.
*Chimping is a colloquial term used in digital photography to describe the habit of checking every photo on the camera display (LCD) immediately after capture.
The phrase is most likely derived from comparison between the sounds and actions some make while reviewing images and those of an excited primate (Oooh! Oooh! Aaah!), or when a photographer is completely absorbed in the act of analyzing, admiring or proudly displaying a shot to others.

  • Cannot see  Canon MP620 installed printer and Canon IJ Network

I try to install my new printer Canon MP620 on my iMac G5 (10.4.11).
The installation procedure seems ok according the documentation.
When I want to use the printer the "Canon IJ Network" is not available. This option should be present when I click on "More Printers" in the "Printer Browser" (others protocol like AppleTalk are listed).
The Canon MP620 driver is not visible in the driver list.
The printer can be use by other computers (XP, Vista) and is available on my LAN . I can see the printer with the "Canon Network tool" and the network scan function works fine.
I reinstalled, download the last version from Canon web site, repaired authorizations, ... without success.
Any idea and help are welcomed !

The printer is connected with a RJ45 cable 100 MBytes. I can ping it from the mac, the http service of the printer is reachable ... thus I guess this is not a network problem.

  • Why do thumbnails in Bridge CS5 open in CS3? How to fix?

I have both CS3 and CS5 installed on new computer running under Windows 7. I do not want to uninstall CS3 until I fully understand CS5. The problem: When I click thumbnail image in Bridge CS5, the image appears in CS3. I have gone to 'preferences' and tried to figure out how to fix this problem; also looked via windows 7 control panel at default settings;  also tried to follow previous discussion on similar problem -- all without success. Help will be much appreciated.

CS5 and CS3 to both independant programs and should not interfere with each other.  I would recommend you do not uninstall CS3 as that frequently causes massive file association problems.  However, only one program can be active at the same time.
CS3 and CS5 use sepearte cache, so there is no cross association.  What you are probably seeing is incorrect file association.
While in CS5 go to edit/pref/file type associations and see what the default is set to.  You want it to be CS5.  Might click on the radio button at bottom to reset all if that is the problem.

  • Corel Painter RIF Files In Adobe Bridge CS5.1?

    Hello,
Does anyone know how I can view Corel Painter 12 RIF file thumbnails in Adobe Bridge CS5.1 For Windows?  Right now Bridge just shows a blank icon.  When I used Painter 11, the RIF file icons showed a thumbnail of its image in Bridge.  When I upgraded to Painter 12 this went away.  I can see the Painter RIF file thumbs in Windows Explorer, but not within any Adobe application.
    Anyone?
    Thanks,
    Michael R.

Yep, same here. Running Adobe bridge CS5.1, upgraded to Mountain Lion yesterday. Navigated to folder that contained a zip file and Bridge crashed. I removed the zip file, launched Bridge again, and went to that same folder. Worked perfectly. On a hunch, I dragged a zip file back into that folder in Bridge, and *WHAP* down she goes again.
Looks like we wait for a fix. *sigh*
Unless...File type association somehow comes into it? Interesting, I just checked (it's under Preferences) and neither a zip file or a doc file is in the list.
Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be any way to add a new file type. Hm. Don't know if it has anything to do with the crashing, but man, what a pain this is!

  • Viewing .RAF RAW files in Bridge CS5 on a Mac OS 10.6.8

    ABSOLUTELY NOT !.
Blame the photographer nor the camera or the software.—unless it's a cr@ppy camera or lens.
The DNG Converter does not touch your raw pixels at all.  It just takes them from the RAF wrapper and puts them in a new DNG wrapper.

  • Bridge CS5 showing 16 bit previews

    Hello
I have written about this before and have never had a good answer.
I see that the latest version of Bridge CS5 64 bit Windows seems to show 16 bit previews. The previews are posterised.
I have a ATI HD5400 with the latest drivers running on Win 7 64 bit. Win display properties shows 32 bit display at 1920 by 1200 on my Eizo SX2462W monitor.
If I open a previewed image in Camera Raw, I see a initially a posterised image which then redraws to un posterised.
Bridge slide shows also show posterised images and do not have the sharpening applied in CR.
I have purged all my caches and also have selected 100% previews and monitor sized previews.
    The Loupe shows the posterisation.
    Photoshop CS5 shows unposterised images.
    Mike Engles

The Bridge previews are jpegs and I have a feeling that there is a problem with Bridge which is I think still 32 bit in CS5. working on a 64 bit OS.
Bridge CS6 (in fact Bridge version 5) is the first version that appeared in 64 bit. But I don't see the difference of 64 and 32 bit for the system effecting your previews.
The specs of your graphic card show that this card should not cause a problem.
To clarify, (no relevant knowledge of Windows on my side I'm afraid) you have multiple disks on your system or do you have a partition on the same disk for both XP and Windows 7?
And are you using two different libraries (read: two different cache folders for Bridge, one for XP and one for Windows 7) or do you use the same cache folder for both.
The latter might cause you problems. About each new version of Bridge has a different cache structure and they are not easy interchangeable (if at all). And I think both OS have different approach of cache but I'm not sure about that.
When stating that the problem solves with purge cache on one system and same solution brought it back on the other I think here is the culprit. To me this indicates to a cache problem.
Hence my suggestion of quitting Bridge and manual deleting the total cache folder (on a Mac this is in the user library) and  after restarting Bridge it will refresh with a new and empty cache folder for a fresh start.

  • Cannot see thumbnails of PEF in bridge

I just installed PSE 8 for Mac on my iMac.  When using bridge CS4 that installed with it, I can open my Pentax RAW files, but I cannot see thumbnails prior to that.  I just see the PEF icon.  Is there an update that didn't install?  As it is, it's nearly useless.

Just a heads-up for others who might read this... I recently installed PS CS5, Lightroom 3, and ACR.  At first when I opened Bridge or Lightroom I was not seeing thumbnails for my pentax .PEF files.  Then I went to adobe updates and got the latest ACR plugin update, and it included my camera, Pentax K-5.  That was the missing step and now thumbnails show up in all adobe views of my photos.  They still don't show in Windows but that's fine.

  • I cannot see my photos in iphoto library - I tried to restore with Time Machine and that doubled the number of photos (copies) but I still cannot see the images - the events are there but no thumbnails although the number of pics per event is correct...

Can someone help me see my pictures again in iphoto? 3 weeks ago while uploading a video from iphoto to Facebook, my events thumbnails all disappeared and were replaced by black squares - the event names and number of pics in each remain but when I click on the event, I only get squares where the pics should be - when I click those squares, I get  a square with a triangle  and an exclamation mark in middle.
Apple had emailed me about defective disks in iMacs so I took mine to the Apple Store and they replaced my HD then reinstalled from my backup via Time Machine - I still cannot see my pics! I tried to reinstall from an earlier Time Machine date - that copied everything and now my HD has double the amount of data but I still cannot see my pictures!
I would be thankful for any guidance on how to retrieve my pictures...
    Thank you.
