Cannot see existing Business Rules in Hyperion Planning ?

Hello,
I'm working on Planning 9.3.1.2 :
I've developped several Business Rules with the EAS console (theses HBR are attached to a project).
But when I open the application in Hyperion Planning with my admin accounts. I can't see any Business Rules in the list of Business Rules, only Calc sCripts.
Is anyone as an idea ?
Thanks for your help.
Best regards

1. Make sure that you have used the planning outline and not the Essbase outline to develop the rules.
2. Also access needs to be given to the rules for a location (even to admin - somtimes). Ensure that you have given the access rights correctly.

Try restarting both Planning and the RMI services.
After the services has been restarted.
Log into Planning and go to Business Rules through Planning.
Check that you can see the business rules available via Planning.
Now try logging into EAS and associating a business rule to the planning outline.

  • Hello experts, I cannot see existing DTP from RSA1 / Datasources.

I cannot see existing DTP only the loads from RSA1 / Datasources.  I can see some of the DTP when I search under InfoProvider but I need to see everything.  What role or security assignment do you think I am missing.  My co-worker have the same SAP roles and can see the DTPs.  Help!  I need this info so I can guide Tech Support.  Thanks for all your help in advance.

  • I cannot see existing DTP from RSA1 / Datasources.

I cannot see existing DTP from RSA1 / Datasources menu.  I can only see the master data (text, attr, hier) loads.    To get to the DTP I must search under InfoProvider but that doesn't show everything that is in the system.  What role or security assignment do you think I am missing. My co-workers have the same SAP roles and can see the DTPs. Help! I need this info so I can guide Tech Support. Thanks for all your help in advance.

    Hi,
You can find out your DTP in infoprovider tree as well.
For that go to the data target for which this DTP is created.
In case of master data onfo objects locate that info object in infoprovider tree.
Drill it down then you can see its hierarchies, Attributes and Text as child nodes
Drill down any of these to see transformations or transfer rules.
Agan drill down the transformation to see the DTP.
Note: There is no such security restriction by which you can not even see the DTP in RSA1 tree.

  • Planning -v11.1.1.1 - Cannot Communicate with Business Rules

    Hi,
We are unable to log into Business Rules no matter how many times we recreate users and properly provision them. I found this in the 11.1.1.1 Installation and Configuration Guide but have no idea of where or how to make this change.
    Planning
    • After you manually deploy Planning, Business Rules does not communicate with Planning. To work around this issue, add the following Java Options:
    -DESS_ES_HOME=/hyperion/products/Essbase/eas/server -Dhyperion.home=/hyperion -DHYPERION_HOME=/Hyperion [8622082]
Where exactly would we do this and could it possibly help?

Issue is with SSH the SSH ware running in two sys and conflict issue.
Restored the Open DAP and suggested the client to re start the Service and server ones.
Client can successfully able to log to EAS and to BR now.
Couple of BR access issue is resolved by provision and Refresh of Manage database.

  • WebForms, Security, Business Rules restore in Planning

    Hello everybody,
I am working on Hyperion System 9 (shared services, essbase, BI+, planning etc) with Oracle 10g relational repositories.
I know Planning has 2 command line tools (FormDefUtil.cmd, ExportSecurity.cmd) that allow us to export Planning web data forms and security in txt file.
My question is: If I don't have the exported files for web forms and security (because my client didn't know about the existence of the 2 tools above and so there is no backup of web form and security) is there another way to restore them?
Could I use the database backups to restore web forms and security? We do make a backup every night of all Hyperion schemas .
Same question for Business Rules. My client never made a backup of them (never exported them as .xml), can they be restored from the database's backup?
If web forms, security, BR can be restored from database, what are the steps to be followed in order to perform such an operation?
    Thank you for you help!
    Daniela

    Hi,
If there has been a backup of the relational database then you will be able to restore the database from a previous day over the current database.
You need to stop planning first, restore database, start planning, log in to make sure everything is alright.
That is the usual way to restore the planning elements.
The EAS database will follow the same sort of concept.
    Cheers

  • Can't see some Business Rules after running the Import via LCM

I am trying to migrate our Business Rules down from Prod to Dev to get them back in sync. Here is the steps I have run:
Export ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Prod via LCM
I confirmed the export directory contains an .xml file for EACH Rule.
copied the export directory down to Dev Shared Services server
Turned on DEBUG for Shared Services
Deleted ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Dev EAS BR repository
I confirmed that ALL BUsiness Rules are listed and checked in LCM Import.
run the Import from Dev Shared Services via LCM
I get a Completed successfully message. No Errors.
I Refresh Rules in Dev EAS and I only see 25% of the Business Rules listed.
I have tried to Stop/Restart the EAS services and still nothing.
I confirmed that the ID I am using to Export / Import has access on each Business Rule either directly or via a Group that has access.
    Any thoughts??
Thanks in advance for any assistance on this!
    Robert

    Thanks John!
I was really trying to get it done via LCM since I have all other migrations being done there. but I ended up taking your advice and doing it the old fashion way via EAS export.
    To answer your questions:
    We are on 11.1.1.3
I did not see any problems in the Services logs for EAS. Nothing that stood out.
We are migratiing 66 Rules and 15 Sequences.
We are using Weblogic instead of Tomcat.
Even though I have a workaround for the issue I am still interested in understanding why some of them did not import via LCM. You mentioned that you might consider adjusting some config settings. What settings would you recommend looking at?
    Thanks again John!

  • How to undeploy business rules deployed in Planning

I am unable to undeploy test business rules deployed on Production. Deleting from calculation manager leaves BR in planning.. is there in any other option??

    Try this http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/cmgr_admin/ch07s03s01.html
"To remove a business rule or ruleset from an application after you deploy the business rule or ruleset, make it ineligible for deployment by clearing the check box next to its name in the Deployment View. Then you can perform a full deployment of the application by right-clicking it and selecting Deploy."
As you've already deleted rule from Calc manager try to create empty rules with the same name (if first full deployment wouldn't help)

  • Business Rule Issue in Planning

    Hi All,
I am working on a business rule and I ve tried doing it many ways but still unable to achieve the desired results. Please find the BR below:-
    FIX(@CHILDREN("Vendor Expenses")
    ,{Scenario},@Relative("Year",0),"No VendorCategory")
    {UPKVendor}
    IF (@ISUDA({UPKVendor},Master))
    {UPKMasterVendor}= @MEMBER(@CONCATENATE("V",@NAME({UPKVendor})));
    {ToVersion}->@IDescendants({UPKMasterVendor}) = {FromVersion}->@IDescendants({UPKMasterVendor})
    ELSE
    {ToVersion}->{UPKVendor}={FromVersion}->{UPKVendor};
    ENDIF
    ENDFIX
    Assumptions :-
{UPKVendor} is a runtime prompt of type "Member" who's value is initiated from the web form (Vendor Dimension which is tagged with UDA's to identify the type of project)
    {UPKMasterVendor} is a runtime prompt of type "Member" who's value is constructed by concatenating "V" to the {UPKVendor}
{ToVersion} & {FromVersion} are runtime prompt's as well and the user can select the values for these prompts as part of the business rule.
    Desired Results:-
IF A VENDOR IS A "MASTER" Vendor, WHICH IS IDENTIFIED USING THE UDA
THEN COPY THE UPKMASTERVENDOR AND IT's DESCENDANTS FROM THE ONE VERSION (FROMVersion) to ANOTHER VERSION (TOVersion)
For some reason, the calc manager is not formulating @IDescandants({UPKMasterVendor})
    {ToVersion}->@IDescendants({UPKMasterVendor}) = {FromVersion}->@IDescendants({UPKMasterVendor})
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Cz

    Hi,
The issue here is that you are trying to assign a member string in a variable on runtime which is not quite possible in Calc Script language. As discussed here number of times and once more quite recently, Calc Script does not support object type (including string) assignment. You can only assign numeric values to members and variables alike. You should try something like @Match function or If condition to achieve what you are doing. Another issue in your script is that you use @Descendants in an equation. You should use @Descendants to restrict the boundaries of your calculation (IF(@ISMBR..., FIX etc) but not in equations.
Just to give an idea, have a look at below sample:
    IF (@ISUDA({UPKVendor},Master))
    IF(@ISMBR(@Descendants((@MEMBER(@CONCATENATE("V",@NAME({UPKVendor})))))
    {ToVersion}= {FromVersion};
    ENDIF
    ENDIF
    Cheers,
    Alp

  • Business Rule to folder, how?

    Hi,
Sorry for the newbie question, I have a good deal of experience with Essbase but am finding Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2 a little strange...
As administrator I create folders to hold Business Rules, from Hyperion Planning, under Business Rule Folders, create new folder.
Now the manual tells me to use 'Calculation Manager', but does not say where to find this.
In the absence of this being accessible from Hyperion Planning or Workspace I go to EAS, create a new business rule and then log back into Hyperion Planning and can see that business rule is now available to launch under 'Tools > Business Rules'
However, I cannot seem to find a way to move this business rule into my folder structure.
    Can anyone advise; -
    1. Am I accessing the right calculation manager
    2. If yes to above is there an extra step to put it in an appropriate folder, and if so where. If not where do I find the 'Calculation Manager' in question?
And yes, I am using the same admin user at all points in the process. And yes task list, form et al forms / folders work fine for me.
    Easy points for the answer!!
    thanks,
    Robert.

    Hi
The Business Rules folder within Hyperion Planning is only used when you have enabled Calculation Manager as you chosen option of calculation type when creating the application.
When you first created the application you would have been given an option of Business Rules or Calculation manager on the very first screen. If you chose Business Rules then the Business Rules folder section within Hyperion Planning means nothing. However if you selected Calculation Manger at setup then Business Rule folders will allow you to group you Rules created from within Calculation Manager.
The choice though of Business Rules was removed by the version you are running
To get to Calculation Manager, Navigate->Administer->Calculation Manager.
If you cannot see it then you havent got Calculation Manager running or setup.
    Thanks

  • Unable to refresh database after forced stop of the business rule

    Hello, Experts!
I am currently testing and tuning performance of business rules in Hyperion Planning 9.3.1. I launched a business rule in EAS Console that was running way too long so I decided to stop it manually. But after this manual stop when I try to refersh Essbase from Hyperion Planning (Administration>Manage Database>Database Refresh) I get the following error:
+com.hyperion.planning.olap.EssbaseException: Cannot restructure. There are other active users on database [%s] (1013101)+
I remember having done forced business rule stops earlier in other Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 deployments and they did not generate such errors. So could you help me on how I prevent Hyperion Planning from this error after manual business rule stops because most likely I will have to do them in the future? Thanks very much!

John, you are right. I erred earlier: I was thinking that I had stopped the business rule, but it still was running. I had not seen this rule running because of lack of permissions for my user name. After adding extra Essbase permissions to my user name in HSS, I was able to see in EAS Console in Ediit>Sessions window that the rule was still running and Hyperion Planning definitely will produce the above error message if one tries to refresh Essbase cube while the rule is still running.

  • Business Rules not visible sometimes-via web and smartview

    We use EPM 11.1.2.
we have a unique problem-Business rules (associated with forms)sometimes fail to appear either via web or smartview for our users. After logging out and back in,sometimes they appear again.
If we explicitly 'disconnect all' from smartview, close Excel, and go back in again, then the rules are visible.
It is becoming hard to tell when the users can or cannot see the business rules.
All users have the right provisioning-interactive user.
Has anybody seen this kind of behavior before?
We had a similar issue a while back-with eas web versus eas desktop client. Oracle gave us a specific fix for the eas business rules problem.
    Edited by: 784749 on Sep 26, 2011 11:59 AM

Thats the strange thing; We use (native) groups to provision. This works fine for the other 5 users.
But even if I provision this one user for the Business Rules, they remain invisible to this user. (in Planning)
I discovered this morning that this user can create a new BR, but when I try to open it in AAS console I get an error
"Exception occured, Please check your log file for details."
Unfortunately, the log doesn't provide any more details. (even if I set the level to Debug)

  • Business Rules Access

    Hello Experts,
Could anyone please help me with an easy solution to turn-off execution of Business rules in Hyperion Planning? We've closed the Budget scenario which makes the webforms readonly, but users still can run Business rules that are in their tasklists. This is messing up our numbers as the rules wipe out our allocations. So far, the only solution i could think of was to remove the user access on BR. I dont like this option because i've to put the security back in for all the projects again. I would think Oracle obviously has a better and cleaner way of doing this.
    Thanks
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
If I understand, your problem is you dont want the business rule to impact your budget for the current year and version. If any user run the business rule if should not impact any current years budget values.
If my above understanding is correct, then you can create a variable in the business rule either as promt or saved assumption and set that either for next year (as current year is already closed) or set for some other non working version.
This will ensure that your data for current years budget and version is not impacted even if any user run it by mistake through task list.
    Thanks
