Cannot see Flash, Windows Media or Real Player

I still cannot see or play any player type object on my site. What am I missing here? I link the files to be played, I upload the files to the server, but nothing shows ups. 'Very frustrated in Orlando....thx...

What application do you use to open windows media or real player?

I'm a new user, and It says I need to download windows media player to watch video clips from comedy central, so I downloaded the one for the macbooks, but then it says I dont have a specified application to open the media player I just downloaded. Does anyone know what application to use to open the media player? or any other player I could download where I dont need an application to open it? You can go directly to flip4mac.com, to get wmv codec for quicktime, but it only allows you to play unprotected wmv files (wmv v9 I guess).
For realvideo, there is a realvideo mac player, on real website. Just install it...

For Angel learning I need windows Media and QuickTime player for the site to work properly. I had both add-ons in my earlier version of Firefox but they didn't carry over into Firefox 4 I'm disappointed in this version the look sucks and the pop-up blocker menu doesn't work.

Cannot Play .DAT Movie Files in Real Player/Java Media Player

Hi,
I wanted to play some movie files in Solaris 10 (Was curious if the movie might be rendered more crisply in Solaris than Windows :) ) but found that .DAT files are not played in Java Media Player.
So I downloaded the Real Player for Solaris 10 x86 (The bin file which is a self executable installer). Now Real Player plays mp3 songs without a problem, just like Java Media Player, but it does not play any movies with a .DAT extension.
I thought may be I need to download a small patch and hence googled a bit, but could not find anything. So googled again to find if there was some work around, but could not come up with anything.
Has someone faced a similar problem? If anyone could help me with this, I would be really thankful.
P.S: I have boasted to my friends how good Solaris 10 is and if I get the .DAT movies working in Solaris 10, they will surely think of getting it installed on their comps cause it pretty much does everything else !!

That application is in the Applications -> Utilities Folder.
Change the popup menu under "Properties for" to Apple logo Built-in Output. And change the Source to Internal Speakers, and format to 44100.0 Hz with the downward pointing triangle next to the Hz rating.

Flash 11 conflicts with Real player

Hello ,
I have windows os having VLC player, K-Lite Kodec Pack and Goms Player.
I am trying to install flash 11 current plugin. Its installed successfuly.
But it gives me error as : "Real Player 11 is known to cause system conflicts when installed with Flash Player. Please unistall or disable the Real Player browser download feature."
I have no Real Player installed anywher but still it gives me such error.
Please can anyone give me solution.

Are you using Firefox by any chance? If so, open it then press CTRL+SHIFT+A to open the Add-ons manager and then go to the Extensions menu. Can you see "RealPlayer Browser Record" in there? If so, click the Disable button.
Sometimes these apps are installed as bundled software, that is to say, when you installed an app, you got the option to install RealPlayer as well and agreed to it. "Agreeing" means you didn't remove the checkmark to install it.

Cannot see flash drive on finder

My cursor was moving over the flash drive icon in Finder.
I clicked on the icon. I think Finder believed I was trying to move the icon elsewhere.
The icon vanished in a puff of smoke.
Now I cannot see it on Finder.

Do you mean the sidebar in a Finder window? Dragging an item off that (I don't want to try with a drive to test, sorry) will result in it disappearing in a cloud. You can plug the flash drive in again to have it mount.

WRT54GS cannot connect to windows media center with xbox360/can stream media from PC to x-box

- running win XP MCE and set up xb 360 on wireless router WRT54GS updated from V1 to V 4.71.4 . PC wired to router and DSL signal goes by wire from wall to modem, router, PC. I can stream media through xbox but not make the WMC connection. I still get the"xbox360 not found on network". I have gone through x-box set up page and installed the setup files. I excluded windows firewall as a problem. I can connect to Xbox live and xbox live/media tests on the xbox run w/o any failures.

Thanks for your reply Yes, I can connect to Xbox live from x box w/o diff. It seems that the xbox can "see" the PC but the PC cannot "see" the xbox. My PC is XP not Vista.

All Plug-Ins in Safari are not working... flash, windows media, quicktime.

Hello to anybody that might be able to help me,
None of my plug-ins are working. Flash, Quicktime, Windows Media etc. are doing nothing. When I go to nba.com for example, the whole top flash element is just not there.
When I go to help menu and look at installed plug-ins... it appears as if they are all there. Anyone seen this before?

Well... that was stupid... I just figured it out. Setting I just managed not to notice before. In preferences under security, I had to check "enable plug-ins". Don't know how it got unclicked, but anways, yeah.

Apple TV - Despite troubleshooting cannot see my Windows Laptop computer via Home sharing

I have my Apple TV up and running and i am connected wirelessly for configuration purposes. (For some reason Apple TV seems to have some slight issues with wired Lan connections).
Anyway, im up and running and i have activated itunes match etc using my apply ID.
Problem is, that as a good 40% of my music library is not currently in the cloud i would like to access simply through my itunes library on my windows laptop which is also on the network.
My itunes library is stored on an external HDD connected to the laptop to save space, however i would assume in this case that is irrelevant as long as the HDD is on and connected to the computer which it is.
Now comes the problem.
Home sharing is turned on both on my laptop in ITUNES and is turned on in Apple TV.
When i go to the computers tab on my Apple TV i cannot see my computer (itunes library). It simply says "to access your itunes library on apple TV turn on home sharing in itunes on your computer".......Already done???
Tried rebooting itunes, home PC etc but nothing seems to work.
As a result when i access the music tab on my Apple TV's home screen i can only play music from my playlists which is either purchased or already uploaded to icloud.
My Anti-Virus programme on my Windows PC (Windows 7) is Norton 360.
Ive updated firewall settings to "allow" all internet traffic from apple and itunes applications. Still no joy.
Can anyone suggest home i can get Apple TV to see my Windows PC and give me access to my full library??

It may sound obvious - but I will mention it anyway. Are they all on the same apple ID ?
I have an issue will home sharing because my wife is on one apple ID and I'm on another. Or sometimes people have a couple of ID's because they have changed payment options.
just thought I would mention it - so if not , change them to the same apple ID.

Mac cannot see shared windows 7 pc or printer

Recently upgraded to windows 7 (from xp) and now I'm having issues networking with my iMac. The PC can see the Mac just fine. On the mac, 0 items show up under network, even though file and print sharing are enabled on the PC. If I "connect to server" I am able to mount the shared windows folders. I am also able to stream my itunes library from the pc to the mac. However, I cannot add the shared printer connected to the windows 7 pc to the mac. I also have a laptop running windows xp and it can see both the mac and windows 7 pc just fine. It can also use the shared printer.
Basically I need to know why my shared windows 7 pc and windows xp laptop are not showing up as shared computers in finder, and why isn't the mac recognizing the shared printer?

I've contacted both Apple and Microsoft this morning. Apple says that since I can force the connection it must be a MS issue.. something they've changed in windows 7. MS says that since the windows 7 computer can browse files on the mac and because the xp laptop can print to the shared windows 7 printer, this issue is beyond their boundary for support, ie.. it's a Mac issue.
I don't care to point fingers. I just want things to work. As a last resort, i'm going to physically connect the printer to the mac, share it, and see if the windows pc can use it. However, that is not a desirable option for me because of the location of the computers/space in my home.

ITunes opens on my Mac but i cannot see the window.

I've had my Mac for over a year now, and iTunes has been working perfectly until the other day.
The bar at the top of the screen changes to the iTunes one when i open iTunes, but the actual iTunes window doesn't appear.
You can however still play music and control iTunes by holding down on the iTunes symbol in the dock and going on "play", "next" etc...
I can't update my iPod or anything so it's a bit annoying. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how the problem can be fixed?

I am having the same problem. I have reinstalled iTunes and I have also deleted it and reinstalled it. Same problem. You are right, it will play, although I can't see to pick something, it just plays what ever it is on.

I ran the applescript to resize it to no avail.
I am running OS X - 10.5
I have the latest version of iTunes (just downloaded off of the apple website)
4GB RAM
500GB hard drive
Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Want to display a still image if user cannot see Flash

I am looking at all the various Flash detectors and am a bit overwhelmed. Most of the info I find is from 2008 and before so I am afraid it is outdated.
I want to be able to detect if a user has flash plugin and if not then display a still image. I am concerned that I-phone users are not seeing the flash embed in my site.
What is the currently recommended solution?

I just bought a macbookpro and cannot see my windows server.

It seems like a dns issue as i can ping ip address but not by name. dhcp is handing out the windows server for the first dns entry. the windows server is dns forwarding. have a newly install pc next to it and there are no problems pinging by server name.

Safari cannot open Windows Media videos in Safari - plugin missing

This is annoying that I cannot see embedded windows media player in Safari - and the page that you suggest (click ok) goes to window media microsoft site and you can download windows media player for many versions bbuutt (but) I already have the latest version of media player -- so what is the solution?

You cannot use the WMP plug-in on an Intel Mac. To make it work you have to force Safari to run via Rosetta. Select Safari then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Check the box labeled "Open in Rosetta."

Windows Media Player plug-in issues - Safari 4.0.5 on Windows 7

Hi guys,
I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 and of course the page to chose a browser popped up. Glad to see my beloved Safari browser to be available I installed it. Of course not all was running smoothly but after the 'mandatory' flash, Windows Media Player and QuickTime plug in I assumed all media content should run perfect in Safari.
Unfortunately not for WMV files. I get the 'Safari can't find the internetplugin, MIME-type application/x-mplayer2'error message.
I looked the issue up on the web of course and found out the trouble that Safari had with WMV streaming. What struck me is that this is a Mac only problem I believe (Flip4Mac solution). As I am running Windows 7 I was quite sure that Safari should be able to stream and play WMV files in the browser.
So I removed and installed the Windows Media Player plug-in again (http://www.apple.com/safari/download/plugins.html) but to no avail. I then removed Safari and installed it again, still same problem. I tried the Fire-Fox plug in, no solution.
It really drives me nuts to open IE8 only to play some WMV files in the browser. I hope someone can shed some light on this issue.
Strange thing I noticed: I can't see how I can manage my plug-ins. There seems to be no tab for it in the Safari settings and in the program-files folder I can only find Java.

I looked up the internet but can't find anything on this. As no replies here too I guess I'm the only one. The other thing that struck me is the enormous CPU usage when playing flash in the browser. Up to 95%-100% cpu usage when playing HD flash content. First I assumed it was a Flash issue but Internet Explorer never used more then 35%-55%. I then assumed it was just Flash in Safari. Strange thing is, if I maximize the window the cpu load actually drops to 55%. I only get high cpu usage when flash is played in the Safari window. I guess that means it's something to do with the browser and not an isolated flash 'bug'.
Also still no luck playing WMV in the browser itself. Maybe time to look for yet another browser. A shame as I like the Safari browser a lot. MobileMe and iPhone are great to sync bookmarks and the look and feel is great. The engine is not so good unfortunately.
