Cannot see music in programs besides iTunes

I changed from an XP computer to a Windows 7 and copied all of my songs from the My Music folder from the old hard drive. My iPod plays fine, iTunes recognizes the songs and playlists, but when I use WMP 12, the device is not recognized at all, and in RealPlayer, the iPod is recognized but it says "(Internal)" after the name, and I cannot see the songs and playlists, though it recognizes that the iPod is half full.
When I go to Explorer, the music folder is empty. I can only see the songs by right clicking and selecting "Open as Portable Device" and finding the music folder within the iPod_Control folder. If I drag the music up to the first music folder, it duplicates the file and takes up space, (as if the iPod is partitioned), but then I can see the song in RealPlayer.
Any suggestions before I give up and click "Restore" in iTunes? I know I could simply do that, but it's the principle. Thanks!
PS - "Enable disk usage" is already checked, I've stopped and restarted Apple Mobile Service and I've been in and out of disc mode.

  • I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone. The iPhone only accepts transfers from the original iTunes PC.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.

What happens when you try to sync the iphone to the new computer?

  • I cannot see the Source List in iTunes. How do I get it back? Thanks!

I cannot see the Source List in iTunes. How do I get it back? I am trying to eject my ipod classic, and there is no option to do so, because I cannot see the ipod, let alone the source list in itunes. I'm also unable to restore my ipod, and I get a message saying it is corrupt, and now I can't even eject it! What do I do?!? Thanks!

    Hello twangchick,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
You can use the steps in this article to view the device list in iTunes and eject your iPod. The steps are slightly different for the different version of iTunes:
Locate and view your connected iPhone, iPad or iPod touch in iTunes - Apple Support
I know it can be frustrating to have a device that isn't working as it should, and this link may also help with restoring your iPod classic:

If your iPod can't be restored normally, try placing it into Disk Mode. See the instructions under "iPod devices with a Click Wheel" in this article:

I am a new iTunes user. I have synced my iphone 4s to macbook using iTunes, but I cannot access music in iPhone. I cannot access library when I launch iTunes on my iPhone. When I go to settings->usage->music, I see that there is enough music in the phone to suggest that music has been synced with iTunes. I just don't know how to access it. Could someone pleas help?

If you want to drag and drop then you would have to select Manually Manage Music.
    Otherwise, just sync your music.

  • Cannot see music in the cloud

I own an iMac, iPhone, iPad and Macbook Pro. I can access icloud and play all of my 25000 uploaded tracks and a further 900 purchased from itunes from all devices with the exception of one "My Macbook Pro".
I have vistied the Genius Bar in the apple store, who were unable to understand why the Macbook Pro cannot see any uploaded tracks albeit connected to my iTunes account. I have been asked to contact iTunes directly in the hope support can help me.
    When running "Update iTunes Match" a pop up screen appears stating;
"iCloud can contain up to 25000 songs not purchased from the iTunes Store. Recent additions to this computer exceed that limit, and will not be uploaded"
iMatch does not go to step 2 "Matching music with songs in the Itunes store"
Neither does iMatch go to step 3 upload artwork or reamining songs"
I have signed out of my apple account on all my devices reopened them and can access iCloud and my library albeit sadly still not from the Macbook
In Summary I have one device that cannot access iCloud in order to play, download or delete tracks I own and have previously uploaded.
Hoping someone out there has had the same issue.................thanks

Yeah that's just the way it is. I use PCs and it's the same story. It's frustrating but what can you do? In addition I have a bigger annoyance on that everyone I close iTunes and relaunch it on my 2nd PC it tells my there's an error and a lightning bolt shows up in the Cloud icon. I have to sign out, sign in and re-add the 2nd computer everything I turn it on to use iTunes Match. That has driven me crazy but I've gotten used to it.

I just upgraded to itunes 7 and I cannot see my music on my external drive. I have had access and all of a sudden it can't see it. The music is there but won't display in iTunes. Any thoughts?

I don't know enough about iTunes for Windows to help you with this. But if you post your question in the Using iTunes for Windows forum you will get help from people who know more about this.

  • Cannot See or Hear Movies in iTunes (Vista 64-bit)

I cannot See or hear movies or trailers I download to iTunes (Vista 64-bit v). The screen just remains blank even thought he progress bar shows seconds of play are passing. the files are .m4v. I tried opening them with Quicktime instead, but that didn't work either.
I read and complied with the recommendatons on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1718?viewlocale=en_US , but it did not help.
Are other iTunes Vista 64 users able to watch movies and trailers?

  • Using most recent version of iTunes with Iphone 5, I cannot see the phone screen on iTunes.

I am using the most recent version of iTunes and when I connect my iPhone 5 to my Windows 7 pc, I can no longer see the screens for the iPhone in iTunes. I want to see them so I can rearrange my app icons. I see the apps but not in a iPhone screen view and they cannot be moved.

First, are you positive it is really not there?  Have you looked in your iTunes folder in your Music folder, and in the media folders there? Do you see your media files?
If your media are gone it is a lot easier to restore from a proper computer backup.  Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Cannot see music playlists when trying to update ipod

hello, i've had lots of problems with itunes 7, stuttering music, lock ups etc.- wish i hadn't upgraded!
latest issue is when eventually i updated ipod to 1.2 software and tried to update it i can see playlists for movies and podcasts but not for music.
any ideas how to solve please.
i thinks its bad that apple haven't posted at least a note saying they'll look into these issues

    hello again,
i know i can use the black arrow to view playlists on my ipod, but there arn't any - i did a restore on this ipod and so it hasn't got any playlists on it now, and i want to get them back on, i only did the restore because i was having the same problem when i upgraded to 1.2 as i'm having now and i hoped restore might solve it but it didn't!
to get playlists back on the ipod i was hoping to open up the music tab on the large ipod menu and select various playlists from the list inside the rectangle as i used to on itunes 6 and the ones before, but the playlists don't show up for me to select to copy to my ipod, the playlists are still in itunes and i can play them on the computer albeit with bad sound quality since upgrade.
i can see playlists under the movies and podcast tabs and i can copy these to ipod but no music playlists.
as i've said i can copy playlist the long way by dragging the playlist from the grey list on the side of the screen and dropping them on the ipod under devices but this will take days
    thanks

  • Can See Home Share but cannot See Music

I have 3 computers that are all authorized and have home share running Windows XP. Currently my method of sharing music is using a windows share, but wanted to give home share a try. Comp1 is my master, Comp2 can see the home share, view, and copy just fine. Comp3 can see the home share but within a couple of seconds of clicking the home share it goes back to it's own music library with no error. If I access the same library(windows share) through the home share from Comp3 but going through Comp2 instead this works. I can also mount all the songs on Comp3 and see them from home share on Comp1. I can create a small library on Comp1 and this can be accessed through home share on Comp3. Anybody have a clue to why the full library cannot be accessed directly from Comp3 on Comp1?

I had this problem and after trying several suggested solutions, came up with the one that worked for me. My Windows firewall was not the problem, it was the ESET virus software firewall on my XP system. In order to see the shared libraries, I have to turn it off. After playing music, I need to turn it back on. Hope this helps!

  • I cannot see my iPod in my iTunes or in Computer

I am running Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite L650 - 0DM (which was purchased March 2011, and had repair work done on it from November 2011 to January 2012). When I first got my laptop, my computer and iTunes both recognized my iPod (iPod nano 5th gen), but for the past few months it has not. If I have my iPod plugged in before I start iTunes, my laptop will not open iTunes until I unplug my iPod. My laptop will also not shut down if my iPod is plugged in, and will only shut down if I unplug it. It will recognize that my iPod is plugged in and connected but in Computer, it does not show up. The iPod is recognized in Device Manager. If I try to safely eject my iPod, it tells me that other programs are using it, even though everything is shut down. This also happens with my flash drives, but my flash drives are working properly and are recognized in Computer. I know that it is not a problem with my USB cord or iPod because it works fine in my XP desktop. This problem is also happening with my brand-new iPod Classic, which I have not put anything on yet. I have used the original cords with both iPods and it still does not work. Other things I have tried to do that have showed no success:
    Restart computer
Uninstall/reinstall iTunes and all Apple programs
Renaming for a higher drive (Other drives aren't in E: drive)
Stopping the 2 high-speed USB ports on my laptop and re-enabling them (they are the only two USB ports I have)
    Putting iPod into disk mode
Putting anti-virus programs on my computer and doing a full-scan
    Disk defragment
Deleting Temp folder (I have stopped all programs on my laptop and it still won't let me)
Stopped iTunes/Apple services and re-enabled them
    Updating Driver Software
The only thing that I haven't tried is updating the BIOS, which seems like extreme measures and I don't want to do it unless I absolutely have to.
I am incredibly frustrated and ready to throw out my laptop and two iPods at any given moment, so please help!

    Try this:
    Plug in your iPod,
    1. Right click My Computer >> Manage and select Device Manager in the left tab.
    2. Click Portable Devices >> right click Apple iPod >> Uninstall
    3. Unplug and plug your iPod, now wait for windows to re recognize your ipod [ In Device Manager, you will see the new recognized Apple Ipod ]
    4. Press F5 to refresh your windows explorer and see if your Apple iPod will show up with a camera icon.
