gateway   Windows XP

Did you try this?...
here's a bit here's what microsotft says: (paraphrased)
To resolve this problem, delete the UpperFilters registry value and the LowerFilters registry value. These values may cause access problems. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit , and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the UpperFilters registry value. This value is located in the following registry subkey:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E980-E325 11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
4. Locate and then click the LowerFilters registry value. This value is located in the following registry subkey:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10 318}
5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
6. Exit Registry Editor.
7. Restart the computer.
it worked perfectly for me!make sure to follow the directions. it's easy and resolves many Windows XP problems related to ipods. for more info try microsoft help and support and just serch for ipod. it list a bit more info there. it doesn't say anything about reinstalling the apple software, but just to be thorough i unistalled itunes and quicktime before anything just to start with a clean slate, then reinstalled them from my ipod disk after the restart. then i downloaded all the updates from apple. my ipod has never worked better. good luck. theres no link to the page just search for ipod in windows help and support for exact wording

    The "automatic Install" in the windows support software does not work. I cannot see the USB in Windows to manually start set up.
    I have downloaded windows support software from Apple 3 time with the same result.  Where can I get a clean copy of the Windows support software?

    Did you correctly format your usb stick in accordance with the Boot Camp installation instructions? Go here to the Boot Camp System Requirements page, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634, look for your computer model/year and download the correct version of Windows Support software.

  • HT1369 cannot csync my ipod with windows 8.

    cannot sync my ipod with windows 8, previously used it on windows 7

    Did you import the CD using the iTunes import feature? Using that feature gets them in a format compatible with the iPod.
    What is the format of the songs?
    Do they play in iTunes?
    Does other music sync to the iPod?

  • Cannot see zipped files in Windows Explorer

    I used the code below to create a zip file. When I use Winzip to open a zip file named test.zip, I can see all the files (a.txt, b.class, etc.) that have been zipped. But, when I double-click on the test.zip in Windows Explorer (Windows XP Professional), I cannot see any of the zipped files.
    Can someone give me some pointers?

              byte[] buf = new byte[1024];

              CreateZip create = new CreateZip();
              create.createZipFile(all_array);

    I have never created a zip file using Java . But from what i know about Winzip and Window Explorer, here's my takes on it:
    1. Winzip works with severals different compression algorithm 9including their own)
    2. Winzip has the ability to display the content of the zip file (if the zip file happens to be one of the compression algorithm they supported....otherwise, it's highly unlikely, winzip can even open the file)
    3. Window Explorer does not call Winzip to display the content of Winzip file. rather, Window Explorer has its own utility to look into the Winzip for files and display them. Note: they probably only do this for the popular compression algorith (such as Winzip .zip, probably .tar...but highly doubtful of the one that Java use to make a zip file).
    So..it's probably Window Explorer does not supports display that compression algorithm (the one Java use) for a Winzip file.
    Example...you created a new format for an image call .mypics
    Window Explorer can display a thumb nail for .bmp, .jpeg, and quite a few other
    You created an application to display the image. Now..in Window Explorer, when you click on the icon, the thumbnail of the pic is not display...this is because Window Explorer does not have a util to do thumbnail for that format.

  • HELP!! I don't see my iPod on Windows?? VERYY confused

    Hello. I really have a BIG problem or as it seems?!! The problem is that I do not see my ipod on my computer. When I put the CD rom in nothing comes up. I went to My computer and it said install iTunes. When I click to down load ANYTHING type of software that deals with iPod software or iTunes it doesn't finish loading it says "Consult Windows Installer help" or MSDN for more information?? I have 2 other iPods that work perfectly fine with iTunes and other software. One of the iPods had the same problem but I couldn't deal with it anymore so I gave up for about a week and I just put the ipod into the USB2.0 and it was transferring the music. So i tried the same thing with this one and it has been a month and NO change. I also tried deleting iTunes and reinstalling it but it said "Consult Windows Installer help" Im clueless! Please help me !!! PLEASEE i feel like throwing it against the wall right now Thanks for your time!!! Let me know if you have ANY Suggestions!!!

    Let's be real clear here -- are you saying you are using Internet Explorer and when you try and download Mozilla Firefox it gets around 75% through and shuts down?
    If so there is something wrong with your computer -- or at least IE. I rarely, if ever, recommend this, but it might be time to reformat your hard drive and reinstall your OS (if you are even thinking about doing this the first thing you must do is back up all your data files, preferably to writable media like DVDR or CDR).
    If you have a friend with a computer perhaps you can get them to download both the latest iTunes as well as (more importantly) the latest firmware updater, and then install them on your machine (they can write them to their own CD).
    The other thing that occurs to me is you might not be logged in as admin on that computer -- make sure you are doing this and are the only user.
    Otherwise my brain is fuzzy right now -- perhaps someone else can jump in after you reply (I'm right in the middle of packing for a cross country move and only able to spend about five minutes a day on this board).

  • I cannot see my iPod in my iTunes or in Computer in Windows 7, but it shows up in the Device Manager

    I am running Windows 7 and have had no problems with with the 3 iPods we connect, but as of a couple days ago, the computer will no longer recognize them. Other USB devices (flash drives and Android phone) have no problem being recognized. Additionally, if I have my iPod plugged in before I start iTunes, my laptop will not open iTunes until I unplug my iPod. My laptop will also not shut down if my iPod is plugged in, and will only shut down if I unplug it. It will recognize that my iPod is plugged in and connected (it lights up and charges), but does not show up in the My Computer. The iPod is recognized in Device Manager.  Also, when I unplug any of the iPods, it will show up for just a second in the My Computer before disappearing. I have tried the following:
    Restart computer
    Uninstall/reinstall iTunes and all Apple programs
    Renaming for a higher drive (Other drives aren't in E: drive)
    Putting anti-virus programs on my computer and doing a full-scan
    Disk defragment
    Deleting Temp folder (I have stopped all programs on my laptop and it still won't let me)
    Stopped iTunes/Apple services and re-enabled them
    Updating Driver Software
    Please Help

    have had no problems with with the 3 iPods we connect, but as of a couple days ago, the computer will no longer recognize them.
    The problem is with ALL of the iPods, at the same time?  Are they are shuffles?
    It is unlikely that three iPods would go bad at the same time, so the other possibilities are bad USB cable, the bad USB port on computer, or a software issue on computer?
    If these are different types of iPods and you are using different USB cables, that probably rules out bad USB cable.  Since the iPod is recognized by the computer and other devices are recognized, that probably rules out a problem with the USB port.  So, that leave a software issue on computer as the most likely cause.
    Did you install any new software (or change the setting of software) on the computer at the time this problem started, particularly something that runs continuously in the background, such as security software?
    You've trying uninstalling and re-installing Apple software.  Is there a way you can disable other third-party software systematically?

  • I cannot see my iPod in my iTunes or in Computer

    I am running Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite L650 - 0DM (which was purchased March 2011, and had repair work done on it from November 2011 to January 2012). When I first got my laptop, my computer and iTunes both recognized my iPod (iPod nano 5th gen), but for the past few months it has not. If I have my iPod plugged in before I start iTunes, my laptop will not open iTunes until I unplug my iPod. My laptop will also not shut down if my iPod is plugged in, and will only shut down if I unplug it. It will recognize that my iPod is plugged in and connected but in Computer, it does not show up. The iPod is recognized in Device Manager. If I try to safely eject my iPod, it tells me that other programs are using it, even though everything is shut down. This also happens with my flash drives, but my flash drives are working properly and are recognized in Computer. I know that it is not a problem with my USB cord or iPod because it works fine in my XP desktop. This problem is also happening with my brand-new iPod Classic, which I have not put anything on yet. I have used the original cords with both iPods and it still does not work. Other things I have tried to do that have showed no success:
    Restart computer
    Uninstall/reinstall iTunes and all Apple programs
    Renaming for a higher drive (Other drives aren't in E: drive)
    Stopping the 2 high-speed USB ports on my laptop and re-enabling them (they are the only two USB ports I have)
    Putting iPod into disk mode
    Putting anti-virus programs on my computer and doing a full-scan
    Disk defragment
    Deleting Temp folder (I have stopped all programs on my laptop and it still won't let me)
    Stopped iTunes/Apple services and re-enabled them
    Updating Driver Software
    The only thing that I haven't tried is updating the BIOS, which seems like extreme measures and I don't want to do it unless I absolutely have to.
    I am incredibly frustrated and ready to throw out my laptop and two iPods at any given moment, so please help!

    Try this:
    Plug in your iPod,
    1. Right click My Computer >> Manage and select Device Manager in the left tab.
    2. Click Portable Devices >> right click Apple iPod >> Uninstall

  • I cannot see all my installed Windows 7 fonts in Photoshop

    Operating System: Windows 7
    Photoshop Version(s): CS5 32Bit and 64Bit
    I am looking for the font "Adobe Gothic Std B" to use in Photoshop.  It is available in Windows 7 Control Panel>Fonts.
    Steps taken so Far:
    1.  Opened up the Control Panel>Fonts and made sure Adobe Gothic Std B was in there.  The install button was greyed out.
    2.  I copied the fonts in Control Panel>Fonts into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts
    3.  I exited Photoshop, exited all other applications and restarted my computer.
    4.  I opened Photoshop and Adobe Gothic Std B is still not available (not seen).
    5.  I also clicked on the Adobe Gothic Std B in Control Panel>Fonts to make sure it is not hidden.  The only option it gives is "Hide" so it looks like its showing.
    I cannot update to CS6 as I do not have the license for it.
    Thanks for your help.

    In Firefox, I have no problem with creating folders inside of the Bookmarks menu, as well as no problem with creating sub-folders in those folders.
    Did you use Internet Explorer to export your favourites from Internet Explorer by creating a .htm file which you then imported in to Firefox?

  • I can see my ipod on windows or itunes

    hello
    i have a iPod nano 8gb and now my ipod dont appear in windows or itunes. i saw the others discussions and nothing happend. someone can help me? my ipod only charge in usb. thanks

    Follow the steps in this link: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 Even if no new driver is available, reload your USB driver using the steps provided. When you connect your iPod to your computer after these steps, use a rear port on your computer and disconnect all other USB devices except your keyboard and mouse.
    If Windows sees your iPod after that, you might want to reformat it (FAT32), then Restore it in iTunes.

    Have you added the BITS feature using Server Manager? You must have. It was a prerequisite for SCCM 2012 RTM.

    I recently reformatted my hard drive through booting from a replacement snow leopard CD. After I installed Snow Leopard , I restored my data from my time machine backup. When i opened itunes, it was blank but when I hit the play button the first songs played, also on the bottom of the itunes window it displays that i have the music (1024 songs, 2.8 days, 5.84 GBs). When i go to the itunes music folder all of the songs/videos are there and i am able to play them though quicktime. I have reinstalled itunes, updated it, and reimported the library from my external HD. Also when i try to click on the blank music finder in the itunes window, itunes crashes with the "iTunes has quit unexpectedly" Another problem I have which might be related is that my iphoto displays the photo thumbnails but the photo is black when i try to open(enlarge) them.
