Cannot seem to configure my new Aiport Extreme

I have 2 PC's, both running Windows 7. I installed the Airport Utility and both fail to configure. 1 gives an error : 10052 and the other error: -4

it says nothing is connected to the Wan.. although
everything is working.. i have internet on all my
computers.. the amber light won't stop flashing..
I know I can shut it off.. I would just like this
thing to work properly....
Why would it say there is nothing in the wan.. the
jack with the circle right? is connected to my
cable modem.. thanks for any help
Turn off both the cable or DSL modem and the AEBSn for at least 8 hours (easy to do overnight) and then restart everything.

That was the suggestion from the Express Lane tech. That perhaps our WiFi at our physical location was interferring.  Have tried ethernet cable to Airport... same. • Configuring a new Airport Extreme with an existing Wireless Modem Router

I have an existing Wireless Modem Router (brand: Riger) and have an existing wireless network. Recently purchased an AirPort.
What is the best way to install a new AirPort Extreme? I know i have to connect the AirPort Extreme to the modem via ethernet cable.
Do i allow the AirPort to use the existing setting from my old wireless modem router?
Or do i create a new network with different name and password?
Anybody can help or show me where i can look up on this?
    Thanks

Hello akramaziz. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Since the new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) will be connected to the existing Wireless Modem Router by Ethernet, it should be reconfigured as a bridge.
(ref: AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup > Internet > Internet Connection > Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode))
As a bridge, the AEBSn will allow the existing router to continue to provide both NAT & DHCP services for all network clients.

  • Cannot seem to configure POP mail port number....

Currently, we are trying to configure access to our email account via POP.  However, the system keeps using the port number/protocol for IMAP.  How can you change it?
We had a similar problem and there is a thread from earlier, that outlines how to get to the place where you can specify the server.
So in our case we get to the advance settings by giving an invalid email address and then put in...
    Mail Server:  POP.CSI.COM
Along with selecting IMAP/POP (the only choice) and then after a bit the Blackberry Internet Services has it set up using the pop.csi.com sever but using the IMAP port and accessing email via IMAP.
    We don't want that.
We need to specify the port number or force it to use POP and not change over to IMAP.  The same server runs both the POP and the IMAP protocols and we identify the stream by using the POP port (110).
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hey Benard_J_L,
With the BlackBerry Internet Service, we will try configuring the email account as IMAP/POP3 in that order. If the servers can login as IMAP (port 143) and see a mailbox, then the BIS will integrate the email account as IMAP.
If your mail providers disable IMAP for an hour or so, you can remove and re-add the integration and it will integrate as POP3.
I wouldn't go to this extreme unless you're not receiving email.

  • I have a new Aiport Extreme that stopped connecting to internet but broadcasts a good signal. Why then when I disconnect the DSL and plug it into my phone company's router I get internet?

Only way now I can get internet to work is to use wireless modem provide by phone company. For some reason plugging the DSL ethernet cable into my Mac won't work. My Extreme had been working fine.  Tried powering off/rset. Had phone company check their hard ware.  Even tried with PC.
    It's a mystery.

    Do a full factory reset..
Set the AE to bridge mode, in full isolation from the network.. set it to create a wireless network.
Then plug it into the dsl modem again.. which you now have in router mode.

  • Cannot seem to open a new project with a height less than 100px

    Hi
Surely there is not a minimum limit on the size of project I can work with in Captivate.  I'm trying to open a new project that is 968 x 30 px but it will not let me and defaults back to 100px height.
Is there a way for me to achieve this or is this a flaw in Captivate?  I'd be suprised if theu have set a limit on minimum height!
    Cheers
    D

    Hi there
Not sure if it's a "flaw", but it's been that way for as long as I can recall. Keep in mind that Captivate is really designed for capturing screens and creating things that are substantially larger than 100 px.
If you disagree with this and feel it should change, please consider submitting a Wish Form to ask for a change. (Link is in my sig)

  • I cannot seem to configure a toolbar that includes the traditional browser top address line, could it be hidden? Also, my search box takes up almost the entire horizontal space on its bar?

New Mozilla user, love it, but have the above problem - no browser line to allow typing websites.

I am assuming you have an Orange box that says Firefox in it at the top left hand side of Browser window. Click this and go to Options, you will see another options and several toolbars you can open.
If you click on these the bar your missing will appear. To go back just right click and turn off the bars you don't want.

  • Can't set up airport express with new Airport Extreme

I have a new aiport extreme base station and two airport expresses. All was well till I tried to plug in a hard drive then the base station needed to be reset. Now I can't get it to recognize the aiport expresses. I have to do a factory reset on the express to even get it to recognize it in the Airport Utility. I follow the instructions to have it join my existing network, I get to the point where it says I have successfully joined the network and the express will restart, but I never get a green light on the express and then I can't locate it while using the airport utility.

Are you trying to use the expresses in WDS or client

I hae been using client mode as best as I can tell. I have been going through the setup with the express and chosing to join an exisiting network and not extend the range of the current network.

  • Does 10.6.8 support new airport extreme?

Does the new airpot extreme work with OSX 10.6.8?

You will need to be running Lion or Mountain Lion on your Mac with AirPort Utilty 6.3.1 installed....or....an iPhone or iPad with AirPort Utility 1.3.1 installed to be able to setup and configure the new AirPort Extreme.
However, once the AirPort Extreme has been set up, a Mac running 10.6.8 will be able to connect to the wireless or wired network as a client.

  • My new airport extrem wont connect with my time warner cable modem

My new aiport extrem wontconnect tomy time warner cable modem

Have you power cycled the modem for long enough to deregister the previous client/router MAC address.. it can take 20min or longer off time. If the cable modem is also a router then the AE has to be in bridge mode.
Sometimes there are connection issues.. modem to WAN port of the AE..
Exactly what modem do you have?
Are the connectivity lights on when you plug in ethernet?

  • How to connect old aiport express to my new Airport Extreme? My Ipad says "base station e5713b cannot be configured" and my AirPort tool on my PC will not permit me to add my new Airport Extreme network (no network names to choose from)

How to connect old aiport express to my new Airport Extreme?
I have a PC running with Win7 and just replaced my Jensen With a brand New Airport Extreme.
I have set up the Airport Extreme to the internet, Iphones and Ipads and it work as it should.
I have downloaded latest Version of Airport tool on my PC. In addition i have downloaded the airport tool for Ipad.
I have reset one of my airport Express and it now shows up both on the Ipad and on the PC airport tool.
My Ipad says "base station e5713b cannot be configured."
I have wired the airport Express to my Ethernet to be able to "see it" on my Airport tool.
My AirPort tool on the PC will not permit me to add the airport Express to my new Airport Extreme network (no network names on the drop-down list to choose from). I wished for an easy set-up, but nothing seems to be plug and play as the Commercial says.. can you please help me?

    Hi
    Thanks for Swift reply.
Yep - I in fact have two A1088 and one A1264
I actually bought the new router because the Jensen
router always lost connection to the Airport Express after some hours or days. I
always needed to restart my Jensen to play music and that was driving my wife
mad. The hope was that the Extreme should fix this. Both A1088 have been set up
to only stream music to two of my stereo amplifiers from my PC’s Itunes library.
    Are the A1088 now useless?
The A1264 has been set up to feed internet into a Denon Reciever that needed Ethernet cable.
    Please advise
    Regards
    Sigve

  • Both our Canon Pixma And Kodak wifi printers do not seem be recognized by our Airport Extreme.  Is there a special way to configure the Extreme.

We had a Linksys modem-router configuration previously and it worked just fine for all three printers in our home.  2 Canon's and 1 Kodak.  In addition, my HP laptop cannot use the network at all and Im forced to use my mifi card at home for my work computer.  I thought Airport would improve communications and instead we seem to have just the opposite.  Is there a utility we can use to allow everything to communicate with one another

If all of your wireless clients are unable to connect to the new AirPort Extreme, there may be something amiss with either the Extreme's settings or the modem/Extreme interface if you are also not able to access the Internet with your HP laptop.
When changing ISPs (or networking equipment) it's always a good idea to start from "scratch" in configuring your equipment.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.
    Please post back your results.

  • Can't Configure New Airport Extreme

My new Airport EXtreme is operational and I can access the net work from both my PC and 2 Macs however I have been unable to configure the base station to move it away from 'public' status with it's factory 10.??? IP address and thus have an open network.
On initial startup with the Airport Setup Assistant on the Mac I get "An error occurred communicating with the selected base station".
I've tried all the trouble shooting re-sets and the Airport Admin Utility but with similar results. At one point on the PC I got the slighlty more informative "the base station is in soft reset mode but does not appear reachable with the IP address configuration of this computer. Make sure your computer is configured for a 192.42.249.X IP address so base station can be configured". Don't know what this means ....
All the correct DHCP settings seem to be in place but a colleague across the street with an Airport Express has no problem. I'm at a loss...

Basic principle - setup instructions are there for a reason, and if you don't follow them then the thing won't work properly What happens if you connect your cable modem to the LAN port of the Base Station:
    - you bypass the router built into the Airport Base Station
    - your Mac will be unable to communicate with the Base Station.
Neither is a good thing - and you need to get to the bottom of the problem causing you to have to incorrectly wire the Base Station just to give it the "appearance" it is working properly (even though it is not). Usually the solution is simple - cable the modem to the WAN port, pull power to the modem and the Base Station for a half hour, then plug power back into the modem, then plug power back into the Base Station. That's it.
Incidentally - a temporary fix is to (a) disconnect the modem from the Base Station, (b) power cycle the Base Station, and (c) restart your Mac. Your Mac will now be able to "see" and configure the Base Station. However, as soon as you are done and you plug the cable modem back into the LAN port and restart your Mac - no admin access to the Base Station will be possible.

  • New Airport Extreme cannot be found by Airport Utility

Previous to purchasing this new Airport Extreme(DualBand "N") I had the older model Airport Extreme. I also have two Airport Express devices. Previously, all 3 were detected immediately by Airport Utility and NEVER dropped off.
Last week I replaced my Airport Extreme with a new one so that I could use the dual band feature and the guest access.
Since then I cannot get Airport Utility to discover/find the new Airport Extreme. I can ONLY access it by using the Airport Utility > Configure Other... option.
I've tried removing all devices except Airport Extreme.
I've tried Airport Utility by wirelessly connecting to Airport Extreme.
I've tried Airport Utility by hard wiring to Airport Extreme.
    I've tried factory default settings
    I've tried factory reset
    I've tried setting values manually
    I've tried setting values automatically
I've tried older Airport Extreme firmware versions
I've tried older Airport Utility software versions
I've tried running Airport Utility from laptop
I've tried running Airport Utility from desktop
I've tried running Airport Utility from remote desktop
    I've tried waiting
What is the problem with this device/software ????? I should add that at this moment the Airport Extreme firmware and Airport Utility are both fully updated.
    Thanks,
