Cannot select advanced edit toolbar Acro 9.1 pro

There may be a simple solution to this but at present I cannot access my help file so I have to pose this question.
I have a portfolio which I am trying to add buttons and other means of inter activity (yes I am new to Acro 9 - just received upgrade) but the moment I open the portfolio pdf (and select modify portfolio) I lose all toolbars and nothing I do seems to help in bringing them back. I'm sure it's something simple but I have not been able to find an answer.
Running XP3 4gb mem Quad core Intel - have re installed - run repair and upgraded to 9.1 pro

Ok, well this is an specialized web based application. I tried opening the PDF's in a new window on my Windows 7 PC and I got them to open without the infinite loop like on a Windows XP machine.
Because that causes an infinite loop on Windows XP, we need the PDF to display in browser, which causes a conflict sometimes between IE and Adobe dll files.
So I've checked out a file that doesn't normally crash the IE/Acrobat9.4 user and checked the properties.
Application: LiquidOffice Form Designer
PDF Producer: DocuCom PDF Core Library
PDF Version: 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)

Now here's the properties of a PDF that intermittently crashes IE:

Remember I said intermittently. That's what's real difficult about the problem. That same file might open 10 consecutive times before crashing. OR it might crash on the first try. When things aren't consistently broken it's very hard to troubleshoot the issue since there is no concrete evidence of a single underlying cause. If it crashed every single time on that file, maybe we would say that its a corrupt file or there's an issue with the program that produced it. That's not the case here.
Good idea as to looking at the version. We could change the versions but we would need to open a request with the application developer, and updates to some of these forms takes weeks for them to integrate.

Advanced editing toolbar avail. in Acrobat v.9 Standard?

Howdy,
I tried searching, as well as going to the Adobe product matrix web site, but can't seem to find
an answer - apologies for the potentially obvious question.
I need to purchase Adobe Acrobat v. 9 for one of our end users. They are not sure if they
need Standard, or Professional. They do know they need the "advanced editing" toolbar.
Is that avail. in Standard, or only in Professional?

Per the person I spoke to, the "advanced editing" toolbar is avai. with the
"Standard" edition.
I guess we'll find out.

Cannot select iTunes in Toolbars

When I goto Toolbars options (right clicking taskbar), there is no option for iTunes, therefore I cannot have an iTunes toolbar on my taskbar. Why is this?

The only way to select tracks on the iphone thru itunes while it is connected to the computer is to have the iphone set to manually manage.
When the iphone is connected, go to the summary screen and near the bottom there are some check boxes in the options section.
Check the one to manually manage.
Now click apply.
If you get a message that this iphone is synced with another computer, the apply will erase what is on the iphone.
The iphone can only sync or be manually managed on one computer at a time.

When using Scrapbook extension, I cannot get the Edit Toolbar to appear, even though I have checkmarked it.

I am running Firefox 3.6.4 in Windows XP. I am using the Scrapbook (not ScrapbookPlus) extension to save web content. I want to edit the saved pages. I click the Scrapbook icon at the bottom right of my screen and put a checkmark next to "Edit Toolbar." Alas, no toolbar appears. Same result when I check "Edit Toolbar." Neither of these toolbars appears. I've researched this in vain for hours. Would appreciate any thoughts on how to solve.

I cannot select or edit content within template editable region in DW CS5

The only way I can edit the content is in code view. A real pain. Anyone else have this happening? I have re-checked and re-applied template to page in question and doesn't help. I cannot directly select an image or text in design view. I get the "no can do" icon that appears over template items that are locked. I have strolled through the preferences and don't see anything regarding this. Since upgrading from CS3 to Dreamweaver CS5 mac, I have had nothing but problems. This app is half baked at best.

Would have been in CS4, but not in earlier ones. In those versions, the use of overflow:hidden as a way of setting a new block formatting context to clear internal floats was not supported even though it was a perfectly valid method. You may find that you need to return the overflow:hidden to your styles to properly manage floats within that container. In that case, a double click is all that's needed to temporarily display the entire content of the element.

Cannot select a clip, or title Final Cut Pro X

I've been working with FCP X for a week or so now and am starting to get used to the format. However, recently it just decides to select (yellow box) a clip at random in my storyline and I cannot get off of the selection. No matter how hard I try to click on another clip, outside the clip, hit other buttons everything it hangs on that one clip. After all of this tying to get it unstuck, it might jump to another clip--never the one I want to work on and then stay there.
Sometimes I can free it up by cycling through command plus and minus. Actually, I think using command plus or minus may even cause the problem.
I have tried quitting FCP and restarting and even shutting off the computer and restarting to see if I then can select a clip. That doesn't help either.
VERY frustrating

I hope you found a way around this. It's unusual not to get any replies at all.
Have you tried trashing your preferences?
Faults like this can often be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and quite safe).

With Pref Manager, you can backup the Prefs first, then if trashing makes no difference, you can restore all your settings.
If you trash them and don't restore them, you will need to go over your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then you can ditch the bad prefs and restore from your (Digital Rebellion) backup.
It's worth a try.

Even simpler than that.
Clicking once in a text box selects it.
Clicking once in a selected text box places the insertion point in the box.
The clicks do not need to be close enough in time to be read as a double click.
The same behaviour applies to table cells in Pages and in Numbers.

In InDesign CS6 I cannot select any items in my onscreen toolbars or windows.

I am using InDesign CS6 and within the last day cannot select half of the items in my quick select toolbar (the pointer tool and direct selection tool), as well i cannot select any of the options in my windows (pages, layers, styles, colours, etc), and when I have something selected, I cannot deselect it. Can anyone help me?

Sorry if I confused you. Let me try again:
1) do a full backup your iPhone to a PC using iTunes
2) go to: settings, general, reset, erase all content and settings.erase phone.
3) when iPhone starts again choose set as new phone. Do not restore from icloud or iTunes.
4) once done. Setup your email accounts. When done, verify checked emails do not uncheck themselves.
That resolved, finish setting up:
5) go to: settings, icloud, uncheck email, and set other icons as wished. Now setup icloud account.
6)This step will make all contracts reside in icloud and be available always: Once icloud account is setup, go back to settings, email contacts. Open each email account and uncheck contacts, but leave mail checked. Then go to the icloud email account and check contacts.

I recently upgraded to Yosemite. Now in my Pages documents I cannot select/edit any objects or images. Help Please!

I just recently updated my MacBook Pro to Yosemite 10.10.2
I also updated my "Pages" when asked to.
Now when a open any of my Pages documents, I cannot select/edit any of the objects/images in those documents.
I have gone through the "Pages" help but still cannot solve the problem.
There used to be a "make background objects selectable" button, but I can no longer find it.
I have tried the "arrange tab" > section masters > make master objects selectable, but nothing happened

I checked out your link and I remember the import box popping up when I upgraded from iWork to Pages a few years ago. My problem is with all files (even documents created with "pages" last week. The documents open fine, I just cannot select/edit the objects/images in the background of my documents. Yes, I have tried going through all of the tab menus and layout options and tried "pages" help.
So my problem is that I cannot open documents and adapt them to my next lesson, etc.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

CANNOT OPEN OR EDIT PHOTOS SINCE INSTALLING iLIFE 08 and OS 10.5

I have recently installed iLIFE 08 and OS 10.5.1 and I cannot open or edit or use any of the photos in iPhoto. I get a white circle with an exclamation point in the center each time I try open open a photo.
I did back up iPhoto before installing the new software. Should I reinstall from the back up or is there another fix for this problem. Thank you in advance for the help.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I believe that's an indication of a permissions issue. Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the option to repair permissions.
If that doesn't fix it download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner section and the current group in the group section. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

[SOLVED!] Cannot select internal/external mounts .......

After being away doing some distro-hopping, I drifted back over to arch. Now I managed to work through many problems such as getting keyboard and mouse support without disabling hotplugging, and all of that, and am enjoying using ext4.
However there are two issues that I can't seem to overcome, and would greatly appreciate any help I can get in overcoming them...
1.) I cannot select internal mounts or usb cards or cd's, etc..
Basically I was trying to be able to mount/access my NTFS partition. At first I was getting that pesky "you can't do this, policy says no" error so I dug through wiki articles and forum posts. After following them (including doing computer restarts) I could not select either my ntfs partition or my mounted dvd disk. Basically what would happen is I would try to select it but my selection would bounce back to my home folder. No errors or nothing. It's like there is an invisible rubber force field preventing me from even thinking about touching those drives.
Now I have tried everything I can think of. I have removed everything I have done when following the wiki to get to a pre-trying to mount ntfs stage. Problem remains. I have dug through the wiki and countless forum posts trying out everything that looks feasible to my problem. Problem remains. I am now on day two, several advil later, and tired of hearing my computer laugh at me.... I really don't want to go through the whole reinstall trip... I already spent a lot of work before trying to mount my ntfs drive getting my computer just how I want it. So any help in fixing this without a reinstall would be most appreciative. I will admit that I am tired of digging through the wiki, so if you must point me back to it, please kindly clarify what I may have missed instead of saying "read this" because 9 out of 10, I have read it and it hasn't helped.
2.) How do I get wicd to auto start?
Ok so I have installed wicd as my network manager. I followed the wiki to the T and it works great. However every time I restart (which I did a lot of trying to fix problem #1) I would end up having to restart the hal and wicd deamons then start up wicd again... So how do I get wicd to autostart?
Thanks in advance for any and all help on these two issues. If I posted in the wrong area, please forgive me. However I feel that these are newbie questions...

I am using KDEMod current (i.e. KDE 4.2.1). I installed the Arch way, not the chakra tribe method, though I did test tribe earlier, it's neat.. just not as hands on...
I tried accessing with dophin. I would have tried with konqueror but as I recall konqueror now uses dolphin as kpart for file management so the results should be the same...

You should notice that I didn't add my ntfs partion to fstab as I read somewhere that with hot plugging you weren't supposed to...

Sub Problem:
When using the advanced edit cursor, right click Is used to select a hyperlink-properties the first time the dialog box pops up it does not have “focus” (not sure that is the right term, but the box is grayed out and will not respond to the keyboard.). It must be mouse clicked to get focus. The second time a link is right clicked to properties the popup responds to the key board and will move to the action tab with ctrl-tab
It’s not clear to me where the acrobat program is at that point.
Is that a known action or problem with acrobat pro 9.4.4?
Is there a key or keys from the keyboard that can force focus to the box?
The problem is each file I open I have to manually find a link and right click it to get the box then click in the box to get “focus”. After the first one the box pops up with focus.

I have been working on converting a set of pdf files with 1000’s of hyperlinks like www.site.com\folder1\file1.pdf#page=10
To jump to a local copy of the files with a relative type link
../folder1/file1.pdf and then go to the proper page.
I have found that it can be done manually by changing the hyperlink to a javascript
var otherDoc = app.openDoc('../folder1/file1.pdf', this);otherDoc.pageNum = 10 - 1;
and setting each destination file with a disclose()=true;

I have resorted to the following plan using acrobat javascript, an external keyboard macro recorder and excel in combination to get around the problem
Four folder level acrobat javascripts with “buttons”
One to get all the link quads in an array, in the pdf and report the total number
The second creates a form field in the far corner of the first page and moves there.
The third jumps to each link found by creating a form field just to the left of the link and zooms in so it can be selected by a “mouse click” from the keyboard macro recorder
The forth deletes the form field
The keyboard macro recorder runs javascript 2 and then 3 then clicks on the link just to the right of the middle of the screen and uses keys to get to the advanced editing to get to edit the hyperlink .
The hyperlink is then copied to excel where it is converted using string functions to the needed javascript text to be copied back.
To the acrobat file into a java script (after deleting the hyperlink)
Rinse/lather/repeat
I have been able to convert about 150 links an hour.
Better then hand typing, but not like having java access to the links.

I didn't intend to say you must close the X box after each
apply. It's OK to apply one change and go to another item before
closing the dialogue. It's the OK button that messes up sometimes.
Even when you hit the Apply button for a very large selection
of topics, the OK button sometimes will undo the apply, not
necessarily for all selected topics. Even when you've made just one
batch change.
I think it's because OK tries to re-set all settings (that's
why it takes forever), but does not correctly pick up the mass
changes previously applied. Or maybe it takes forever because it
can't find the new info and defaults to the existing settings.
A pain in the butt when you're trying to apply a stylesheet
to a very large number of topics. Please don't ask me to define "a
large number."
Maybe it's a space limit in RH, similar to the space limit
for the number of characters in a batch of file names you want to
import. Or maybe the OK button doesn't look in the right places.
