Cannot select elements on page unless on the specific layer

I'm having a very strange problem in Fireworks CS5. I cannot select an element on my page unless I go and find the appropriate layer and select that layer. Only then will the elements in that layer be available for selection.
I looked through the preferences and there's no option to turn this on. It's terribly disruptive to my workflow. Does anyone have this issue or know how I can fix it?

Sounds like a case of Single Edit Mode.
From the Layers Panel, to the far right, click the panel properties icon. From the panel context properties list make sure Single Layer Editing is toggled off.

Cannot select search engine--page just flashes

When I type in a search I am directed to the select search engine page which just flashes off and on--I cannot make a selection. Same result with Safe Mode. I am able to use Advanced Search.

It is possible, but not very intuitive. Needed to play around quite a while and also the help of a friend.
You have to activate the Opera keyboard via Settings --> Advanced --> Opera keyboard --> always.
New engines you an add by e.g. open Bing (no advertising ) and do a long press on the search input field. A menu will give you the option to add the engine.

I cannot select a previous page without scrolling through all of them

The latest version 4 does not seem to have an option to select a previous page from a drop down list, alongside the forward/back buttons top left of page

You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.

Sometimes Cannot Select Elements in Design view of Dreamweaver

Hello,
From time to time, i have trouble selecting elements in the design view.
Sometimes it works right away. Sometimes I need to click 6-10 times, and sometimes it just doesn't work ( a larger all encompassing element stays selected and no matter how much i click, there is no change )
I originally thought it was a bug, but I expected it to be fixed by now.
This also seems arbitrary, perhaps someone here know why it's happening and how to avoid it.

You probably have a CSS overflow:hidden property applied to one or more divisions for float containment. Switch to Split View. Or turn off CSS styles in Design View: View > Style Rendering > untick Display Styles.
Or you can comment out /**overflow:hidden **/ until you're ready to Preview.

but selecting business role page is displayed(not CRM GUI transaction).

If i recall correctly from PS2, business role pages are pages that are only visible in the personal space of users. Normaly users can create there own pages in there own personal space. When you create business role pages, these pages will be available in everybody's personal space.
That's why they are not available in a custom group space. Business role pages are bound to the personal space.
If you want to role out pages to a specific department than you can solve this by using permissions. Create your business page in your custom space and set the permissions so that only people from a specific department can see the page. Therefore you need to put all your users from a specific department in a group.

Cannot select entire email to copy, just the body

I downloaded an app to save files, including emails as PDFS. I cannot copy the entire email to the program, only the body. Sender, receiver, date and topic are important but "select all" only will copy the body. I tried tapping at the sender name but nothing happens. Only in the email body.

How can I access the selected element of a DropDownByIndex-box?

I want to create a WebDynpro with two web services. I created the first request with the first web service and the results are displayed in a DropDownByIndex-Box. Now the user should choose one of the results and I would like to use this for the request with my second web service. How can I access the selected Element of a DropDownByIndexBox in the Code?

Hi Julia,
when user select one element in drop down it automatically set lead selection of node binded to dropdown.
For example if you bind a dropdown to node myNode with value attribute myAttribute the lead selection of node myNode is set in the position of element choose from user.
So to take this chooised element use this code:
wdContext.currentMyNodeElement.getmyAttribute()

Can I pass the selected member at page dimension to form business rule?

I have a business rule which will be executed when the form get loaded, the business rule is very complex, so I want to narrow down the calculation by passing the selected member at page dimension to the business rule.
For example, I have year as page dimension, and I only want to calculate the selected year at one time? How can I do it?
I know runtime prompt, but I don't think it's a good way, since you need to select again.

You can use a variable and a run time prompt.
You can set the business rule options in planning to "Use Members on Form" and "Hide Run time prompt"
This way the page/pov member will be passed into the business and into the variable.

Error Rendering SELECT Element in Safari Under iOS (iPhone & iPad)

Hello,
Our website contains three SELECT elements that are not rendering properly under Safari, iOS 4.2 on both an iPhone and iPad.
If you load http://demo.campusguides.com in a normal browser (Chrome, FF, non-mobile Safari) you will see that the three "Browse By" boxes at the top of the page each contain text that you can select using your mouse. Each of those boxes is actually a SELECT element and each piece of text is an OPTION within that SELECT box. We have set a SIZE property on the SELECT element that allows the user to see more than one OPTION value at a time. Here is the W3C page that mentions the SIZE option for SELECT boxes - http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/interact/forms.html#adef-size-SELECT.
On all the browsers I have tested the list displays properly, meaning that you can see multiple OPTION values at once as well as a scroll bar (when needed) that allows you to scroll up and down the list. On iOS Safari however the list is displayed as an empty box with no OPTION values visible to the user. If the iOS user clicks the SELECT element they are taken to the normal SELECT interface for Safari which does work fine, but without any content displaying in the box to begin with, I don't think many users would know they can / should click that element.
So basically I think this is a bug, and that iOS Safari should either render that SELECT element with the OPTIONS visible to the user, or it should ignore the SIZE property and render that element like a "normal" SELECT menu where only one option is visible at a time.

No. You cannot work on two Pages files in the same window. It is not possible to have multiple windows on the screen at the same time in iOS.

Is CS5 extended compatible with Epson products? I cannot select printer settings.

I've had this problem for a very long time with multiple Epson printers. This problem only applies to Adobe products as other image editing software work fine. The printer settings button does not work in Photoshop so I cannot select paper type or any of the other settings. Adobe blame the problem on Epson and Epson blame the problem on Adobe but the bottom line is, I'm left holding the bag as I paid a lot of money for these products and they don't work together. At least Epson will answer the phone and try to help. Adobe do "NOTHING" for you! I've been on here before with this problem with my last Epson Printer. It was a Stylus Photo 1270 and I was told by some wise guy that "it was a 13 year old printer, what do I expect." Well I have a brand new Epson R 3000 and I have the same problem. I'm using CS5 Extended and have all the latest drivers. Here is a link talking about this problem but it doesn't give any solution that works for me: Print settings option unavailable in Print dialog box | Photoshop CS5. I've already done everything it says here! Typical of Adobe ducking their head in the sand! I can get the print settings on other applications like Preview (no problem) which Epson claim, proves the problem lies with Adobe. An Adobe tech. told me on here (last year) that the problem was with Epson as they have to write the driver software to the application (Photoshop), yet Epson claim that the problem is not in the driver but in the application itsalf. Adobe will just bury their head in the sand and act like nobody is home!

Thanks for getting back to me Gene. I will give that a try if I continue to have problems, but I have found a workaround solution, or at least discovered a glitch. Like I said, when I click the "Print Settings..." button, it fails to open up a Print Settings window, so I have no way of choosing the paper etc.. However, If I switch it from "Photoshop Manages Colors" to "Printer Manages Colors" and then back again, I can then click the "Print Settings..." button and it will open up a Print Settings window (go figure?). If I were to guess I would put the blame on Adobe's printer interface, not the print drivers from Epson. Like I said, this problem has been haunting me for a while on numerous printers. It's intermittent so sometimes it works alright and I forget about it, then it comes back, but now I may have discovered a workaround.

I have a JSF page that displays a message "Skip navigation elements to page contents" at the top of the rendered page. Any idea why this is happening and how to remove?

Strike the copy/paste theory. The issue occurs even with a newly created page when I have a panelpageheader and panelpage combination. Here is the code:

now read the internal table in node using get_static_attributes_table method.,
loop the internal table
count = count + 1.
if count = selected index.
esle.
append internal table to final internal table (itab-fin).
endif.
endloop.
now bind_table( itab_fin ). " now the selected element will not appear in the node.
you can also use remove_element method to remove selected elements

I think I want to do something similar.
When I use JList component I can easy take selected row:
MyViewRowImpl r = (MyViewRowImpl) myList.getSelectedValue();
When I try to get selected row in similar way from JTree:
Object o = jTree1.getLastSelectedPathComponent();
I have got only string representation of this row. Is it possible to get selected row object.
