Cannot select output tray on a stapler stacker using universal print drivers
With universal print derivers 5.2, we cannot select output tray for print job on a stapler stacker. All jobs are set to automatic output and only uses the lower tray, not other trays.

Output Tray 2 does not work when we print a smartforms document immediately
Dear printer specialists,
we've the following issue:
We are printing the same smartforms document in different plants. One plant decided to get the print output into output tray 2 of the printer (lower tray), so we've copied the standard device type into a z-device type and made the SPAD set-up with a preselection for the tray 2 (lower tray). The new device type has been assigned to the output device. Now we made a test and released the print-output for an immediate printing. The output was printed as before in tray 1 (upper tray). When we restart the output from the spool (SP01), the output will be printed in tray 2. Why does this not work, when we print immediately ? Does anyone know how to solve this problem ? (We don't want to change the smartforms document.)

Check if there is a different tra setting in the smartform itself.

I cannot select mail, messages, or airdrop as an extension to use to share content (i.e.: to share a website), they are greyed out in my share menu, in the Extensions folder of system preferences

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

I installed my acrobat version 8 standard and activated however the printer did not install. The download was successful but we have no printer icon to select to convert files to PDF. Can you help with why the printer did not install. we have windows 7 op system

HP 4250 w/ Stapler/Stacker attachment fails to printer properly on Snow Leo
We have an old HP 4250tn printer. We recently attached a newly purchased HP stapler/stacker to it. Under Windows XP, we can print to the printer's stapler/stacker without issues. Specifically, we can print multiple copies of the same document, each individually stapled.
On Snow Leopard (10.6.2), I can print a single copy of a document to the stapler/stacker and it prints and staples properly. However, if I instead attempt to print multiple copies of the same document, it attempts to staple all the copies together with a single staple. This clearly seems like a printer driver issue (since the XP box can manage this task).
HP refused to provide customer support because the NEW stacker/stapler was attached to an out of warranty HP printer. As such, we had to work out the problem this far on our own.
1) We did flash the firmware on the printer to the latest version.
2) We did power cycle the printer after the firmware upgrade and confirmed via the configuration page that the new firmware "took".
3) We went to HP's site and confirmed that the latest printer drivers for Snow Leopard are the printer drivers installed with Snow Leopard.
4) We confirmed we can't seemingly print from Snow Leopard properly.
5) We have confirmed that using the latest drivers on Leopard also results in multiple copies getting stapled together.
Any chance of a workaround or of someone at Apple giving a hoot about fixing this esoteric printer driver issue?
Message was edited by: JuanCabWell, we figured out this is a bug in CUPS. In a nutshell, when you request multiple (let's say "N") copies of a document be printed to an HP LaserJet 4250, the CUPS driver, instead of sending one copy of the postscript to the printer with instructions to print N copies of the document embedded in the postscript instead makes N copies of the document, concatenates them into one postscript file, and then sends it to the printer. The printer receives a single large postscript file which is why it only staples it once.
My solution for now is rather hacky. I wrote a perl script that will take any PDF file sent to it and will print it N times, so that each copy is individually sent to the print. I then created an automator workflow as a wrapper so I can print multiple stapled copies via the PDF services menu in the print dialog box or by dropping a PDF file onto an Automator "Droplet" app I created. This works, but in a multi-user environment like my office, it is possible for other people's print jobs to slip in between the N copies, since they are all being sent individually. Also, you lose the ability for the printer to tell you how many copies remain to be printed.
If anyone at Apple reads these boards, PLEASE fix this so that the CUPS drivers for the HP behave properly and send the postscript file only once with instructions to print N times. BTW, it was possible to send N copies from the command line (using the "lp" command) in Leopard with CUPS 1.3.X and have it print properly (it appeared to send one copy of the postscript with instructions to the printer to print N copies), but Snow Leopard with CUPS 1.4 broke that (now, CUPS assembles N copies together into one postscript file and fires it to the printer). -

How can I select a tray on an OCE Vario 2100 when printing from a smartform?
I tried to print the sample-text SAPSCRIPT-TRAYTEXT. This should take sheets from several tray's but it only used the default tray.
I tried putting printcommands TRY1, TRY2 and TRY3 in the smartform command-box. These printcommands are active in the printerdefinition. But the printer seems not to listen to these commands.
Does anybody have any ideas or experiences?

There is a field in the attributes of your page called 'resource name', here you can specify the printer tray.

AnyConnect 3.1.05152 Cannot Select Group
Hello,
I have recently upgraded to 3.1.05152 of the anyconnect client and we now have an issue when trying to select a group, the client just refreshes back to the top group. If you have upgraded from an older version any groups that you have used before to connect will work but you cannot select an option that you have not used before.

Not yet, I have tried different java versions/making sure tunnel lock isn't on/administrator rights. Next step is remove all java and anyconnect software and fresh install. If we install an older version and connect and then let the firewall update to the latest version, then we can use the group we selected originally to connect but cannot choose any other group. If just install the latest version it just defaults back to the top option.

Sometimes I cannot select an airport express to output sound from a current model mac air/10.9.3. The output jumps back to internal speakers or apple tv. Any ideas?

Hello, I just bought a 2013 Mac mini and I cannot get the sound to output to my Dell U2713HM monitor. I went to sound output but even though my Dell shows up there when I select it there is no sound output to it. I am using a mini DP to DP cable...Any ideas? Thanks

I didn't expect anything to happen and nothing happened. The audio jack is for the Dell soundbar which is optional.

NOTE: The Soundbar power connector (+12 V DC output) is for the optional Dell Soundbar AX510/AX510PAonly. To attach the Soundbar: 1. Working from the back of the monitor, attach the Soundbar by aligning the two slots with the two tabs along the bottom of the monitor. 2. Slide the Soundbar to the left until it snaps into place. 3. Connectthe Soundbar with the DC power connector. 4. Insert the mini stereo plug from the back of the Soundbar into the computerís audio output jack. For HDMI/DP, you can insert the mini stereo plug into the monitorís audio output port. If there is no sound, check your PC if the Audio output is configured to HDMI/DP output.
This monitor has no speakers. (Like John Hammer1 mentioned). The no speakers feature was one of the reasons I chose this monitor.

I see my speaker name available for AirPlay output, however, every time I select the speaker it automatically goes back to my built-in speakers. Cannot select and move in mountain lion
I am running 10.8.4 on an early 2009 15'' MBP, and I have been having issues where I cannot select an object (file or folder) and move it. This is affecting my other programs, for example, i find that I cannot select and move cursor in Maya.
Not sure why, has anyone seen this before? and can I fix it somehow? I tried restarting my computer multiple times but the problem presists.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.

This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.

"Extraction Failed: Cannot Open Output File" error message when installing new drivers
Hello, I'm trying to install new drivers for my HP Photosmart C4385 Printer. I downloaded the full feature drivers for Windows XP 32-bit, and when I start to install (extract), I get the error message:
Extraction Failed
Cannot Open Output File
And the process closes. It happens at about 85% extraction every time.
Any idea why? I called HP but since it is out of warranty they wanted money, which I think as absolutely ridiculous - won't even give me basic support?? Poor, poor customer service.

Make sure the Printer is disconnected from your PC.
Download and install 7-ZIP. Once installed, right click on the software installer for your printer, select 7-Zip and choose extract files, then click Ok.
Open the newly extracted folder and double click the setup application to start the installation ( the setup application will probably have the same icon as the original software installer you downloaded ). Connect the printer to your PC when the software asks.

How do I remove the Output Tray of my HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer
I cannot remove the Output Tray. I do some printing two-sided (one in color, the other b&w). Removing the Main Input Tray to place the paper for Side 2 is time-consuming. It would be much easier to take the just-printed Side 1 as it's completed, then simply lay it correctly on top of the blank sheets in the Main Input Tray to print Side 2. I am unable to remove the Output Tray. The store's salesman said it should be easy to remove and re-install, but that it may held in place by a piece of tape. I am prone to breaking things I'm trying to work on. I don't want to break my 4-months old printer! Any ideas? Thanks.
The main part of the output tray is not removable. There are a few alternatives: the input tray can be pulled partially open and the printed pages loaded in it - it should not be necessary to remove the input tray completely. The other possibility would be to just print using the automatic duplexer. If you are printing on plain paper or index paper this should work, it would not be suitable for printing on the back side of photo paper.

Officejet Pro 8600 Plus output tray miss-installed
The output tray on my new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is partially miss-installed. There is a clip on each side of the underside of the output tray which is supposed to engage tips on each side of the frame for the paper tray. Apparently, when the output tray on my unit was installed at the factory, the clip on the left side ended up above the tip which it is supposed to engage. This leaves the output tray slightly tipped to the right and results in output pages not stacking as neatly as they should. This could be easily corrected if someone would tell me how to disengage the output tray from the body of the printer. It's been working fine, I don't really want to have to take it back for an exchange just to correct what could be easily fixed by removing the tray and pushing it back on carefully while engaging both clips.

I am getting "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-02014: cannot select FOR UPDATE from view with DISTINCT, GROUP BY, etc" exception and it leads to one or more setter methods of the VO. I checked the respective attribute in the VO to see if it refers to any LOV with sql having Distinct or group by clause, but it is a normal attribute.
Any idea how do i resolve this error ?
